But Scott Drew should be in the short list to replace Bill Self.
He’s a good coach.

This is silly. But this stuff catches my eye. I coached youth football for many years. Some of my teams wore all white uniforms. I hated that because the ball was very visible. Some of my teams wore all dark jerseys. It was great because the ball was much less visible. Is this a major consideration? No. But it is a consideration.
I wanted my QBs and RBs to wear dark sleeves when the weather was cold (or if they wanted to have sleeves) to make it much more difficult for defenders to pick up where the ball was. This is all just accepted fact among folks involved in football. In youth football you can many times choose the football you used so long as it met the size standards. I always tried to choose a football that was light colored if we had light uniforms and dark if we had dark uniforms.
Striping was also an issue. Our league required stripes. Some coaches wanted to use no stripe footballs, like the NFL, and the complaint was visibility for the defenders -- that is, FB is hard enough but the lack of stripes would impact the defense.
The fact is, dark skin on dark football without a doubt provides the handler of the ball an advantage over a player with lighter skin when engaged in play fakes, fake handoffs, or even regular handoffs (where a hand or hands could be mistaken for a ball).
This is high speed stuff where defenders many times only get a glimpse of what is transpiring.
But a broadcaster gets suspended for simply stating the truth. Our society continues to go to hell because of the hypersensitivity by leftists to truth, or even to debate or discussion. Solely because it invoked skin color meant it was off limits. Foolishness. Leave it to San Francisco -- they should be busy cleaning up the feces on their streets.
Meanwhile, of course, comments by an NFL player about Christian McCaffrey being "the most skilled white dude in NFL history" or "a bad white boy" are just deemed funny (and of course, I think it's funny. Maybe true. Not offensive.)
But if someone said that Lamar Jackson was "the most skilled black quarterback ever", or that's "a bad black boy", the world would come to an end.
And I would be willing to bet that most black folks that know football would agree with my comments on the truth of the comment on Lamar Jackson's dark skin color and would think the suspension of the announcer was silly. It's the white leftists that think they have to protect and lay down the law on what can be discussed. The same ones that claim any discussion of race is founded in "ignorance." They can't win a debate so they attack it that way, along with the "racist" complaints.
Foolishness.
I thought this was a silly story and an overreaction for sure.
But I have two points.
One, Lamar could still be better than average at hiding the football. There are plenty of black QBs in college who don’t have similar success or things said about them hiding the ball well.
Two, it could entirely be possible his skin color does hide the ball well.
Both can be true.
I didn’t think it an outrageous thing to talk about when considering how well Lamar is at hiding the ball.

@Kcmatt7 sounds like you are so nervous about 2020 that you are out there beating the drum for the DNC trying to change opinions of independent minded individuals who clearly can think for themselves. The guy(Adam Schiff) running the hearings lies about meeting and coaching Joe Biden's ally(AKA Whistleblower). The same guy who said for 2 years that he had concrete evidence that trump colluded with the Russians 🤣, evidence Robert Mueller and a squad of Democrat lawyers & $35 million in tax payer funds couldn't uncover. We are supposed to trust Schiff and his allies are being honest with us after what they put every American through. Now he's doing everything he can to hide the so-called "Whistleblower" from testifying. Even though he doesn't qualify as a Whistleblower underneath the Whistleblower Statute. When every witness who testified publicly, and questioned if they had any direct knowledge or evidence to support a crime was committed, they all said emphatically NO. Even Sondland had to walk back quid pro quo live during the hearings. Judges have already domestically ruled that a meeting isn't a thing of value. So we can't stop throwing that out there like it carries any weight. Hearsay, gossip, and unsubstantiated presumptions don't constitute viable evidence to remove a duly elected President. Hating someone so vehemently doesn't make your argument anymore compelling either.
This is coming from someone who voted for Obama first term. Before realizing I was voting to penalize myself for being a younger healthy U.S. citizen. Let everyone testify, even those Democrats and the White House have prevented from testifying. If any substantiated evidence is derived from that to support your emphatic position the president has committed high crimes so egregious we need to remove him from office... then we'll cross that road when we get there. Until then we aren't even close to meeting that bar.
Yes I came to site of 50 to talk about this because I’m nervous.

Gaging my current circle, this appears to be true. People are tired of caring this much about politics. It’s just so incredibly hard to pay attention to for an extended period of time. It appears the Republican strategy of getting people to not pay attention and writing this off as a “hoax” largely worked.
It was always about flipping Republicans and convincing them.
That clearly didn’t happen despite fact witnesses spelling out what happened In a remarkably consistent fashion and one man literally admitting to it.
This is America now. Disinformation is rampant. The truth is lost. And nobody is willing to believe anything but what makes them happy.
Until we get someone in power that cares about cracking down on our own government systems and we can get honest people in politics again we won’t have a true democracy.
The irony of this entire thing, we could take a few notes from Zelensky and the Ukrainians. They are tired of corruption, and they demanded to have accountability at the highest levels. Something that looks so incredibly distant for the U.S. in the current political climate.

@Crimsonorblue22 it makes sense to have Ochai play through it, we will need him this year. Agree on Moss.
@Kcmatt7 Really depends on what Enaruna wants to do. I hope he really likes Bill, Lawrence etc
I agree.
And I think he has potential to get in the Top 10 as a Sophomore. The NBA has really trended that way. A lot of So. getting drafted now.
approxinfinity said:
@Kcmatt7 Is that in Enarunas best interest? Do teams guarantee drafting 25-30 in writing if he's still on the board as a condition before he enters the draft?
I would imagine this is all worked out from his agent before the draft. I'd have to imagine some sort of guarantee has to be signed, though I don't actually know how that works.
As far as his best interest, it's a good question. Takes a lot of risk away for him as far as injury and potentially getting exposed with more minutes next season. In this scenario, he becomes an instant millionaire and then gets to go play pro ball and get paid to develop.
There is potentially more earnings upside if he were to stay and get into the lottery. No doubt.
It's all about weighing risk. And it is really, really hard to turn down millions of dollars.
@HighEliteMajor My only argument for Enaruna is that you can draft him at 25-30, and then send him to Europe to develop. Meaning they can have him come back at around age 22 and then have him on a very cheap deal during his peak.
It's a very smart thing you've seen teams take advantage of in the past.
BShark said:
Tristan is one of our best players. I'd put him easily in the top 4 and I think there is a debate for third. He has some lapses of course but his overall impact is remarkable for a FR rated in the 50-70 range. Even last night in scoring just 4 points he had his fingerprints all over the game. 4 assists, 4 steals. His length alone makes him very disruptive defensively. He would be a star his JR year, I hope we get to see it.
I really really wish Dave or Silvio was closer to a 4 than a true center. They both bring good things to the table but Doke has to get big minutes. I really liked Silvio closing the game last night, I hope we see more of that as I don't think we can afford to have Doke in during a close game under 5 minutes or so. Certainly it would have to be heavily managed and once hack a Doke starts you have to remove him.
We need more from Ochai especially if he is going to continue to be in the top 3 for minutes played. He's had two bad games in a row now. The first two games were okay, but not great.
Garrett is pretty average but he is an absolute rock for this team.
I'd like to see a lot more of Moss as he gets healthy.
Enaruna has draft and stash written all over him. I wouldn’t be shocked if this was his only year here now. He’s just been too good.
I truly implore all people to listen to these hearings if at all possible. I haven’t listened to every second, but I’ve listened to as much as possible given my schedule.

Louisiana and Kentucky just had the governorship go blue. First time in a very long time that Virginia state council went blue. Meaning they get to redistrict the state and they can change election districts which tips the scales.

Having said that, I have always had a problem with Donald Trump - waaaaaaaay before he was President. Now he just embarrasses me. And hopefully this country.
I really didn't follow politics until the 2016 election cycle. Something about it just seemed like DJT was making history one way or another. Either he was going to be the Patriotic Businessman who put America back on a path to greatness or we would end up right where we are now. I definitely knew it wasn't going to be normal and ultimately end up being historic.
Genuinely curious if anyone here thinks Trump is NOT guilty.
And if so, what is your reasoning?
I'm genuinely curious to hear from people whom I respect and who aren't in the toxic twittersphere. I won't even respond, other than perhaps questions or clarifications.
I certainly won't try and convince anyone beyond this post.
I just want to understand how after today's testimony that there is any doubt that Trump attempted to have Ukraine manufacture an investigation into Joe Biden's son. A man who paid $1M to Trump's inaugural fund, who was not a career bureaucrat, who was hand-picked by Trump to be the EU Ambassador, straight up said that there was a Quid Pro Quo.
Even if you completely take out the aid from the scenario, what you are left with is a President using the power of the office and show of U.S. support to benefit him in the 2020 election by investigating a political rival.
Even if you take both the aid and the White House meeting away, you still have a President asking a foreign government for a political favor. And we know it is a political favor because it is not "stated policy" as every single official who has testified so far has told us.
I'm not telling you that I think the Biden's are innocent. Or that they didn't at the very least walked a line down an ethical path they shouldn't have (and nobody should). But nepotism is something that both parties are currently guilty of at the moment. Even without the President's children in the equation, you have a Romney as head of the RNC, Rudy Giuliani's son is in the White House, the Bush family, Clintons, Chafees, Pauls, Huckabee, etc.
So to call out Nepotism as the key driver, with literally no other evidence of wrong-doing, is funny to me. They would be able to tell if he did something wrong that broke U.S. laws. One call to the IRS would be able to tell you if he didn't claim this income on his taxes. And if he broke a Ukrainian law, well that is their business. Not ours.
It doesn't even touch on the way in which they went about "investigating" Hunter Biden. It was a completely inappropriate channel. As was testified to, there are treaties and procedures put in place for this exact sort of a thing. This did not follow that procedure.
The last thing I'll say: I do not think anyone should be okay with this. I truly do fear the power that future President's will feel they have if we allow this to go unchecked.
(Again, I will not respond critically. Simply will ask questions for clarification or respond to anything I believe may not be an accurate "fact" and we can try to come to a consensus on that).

Ah you're right, one over. Verbal Commits website is counting Mitch as leaving.
I still think Dotson will end up coming back. I'm sure Dotson leaving has been the plan. But I think it ends up with Bill booting someone to make room for him coming back.

I know it was Monmouth but Silvio showed improved 4 man skills. Hit a 3, looked comfortable handling the ball. If he gets comfortable out there maybe he shows more of a 4 game going forward. I do agree though that Gethro likely doesn't see the court much next season if Silvio is back
Something to follow going forward. I do think there is a great chance Silvio stays.
If the roster ends up being the following..
1-2: Thompson, Harris, Jossell
1-4: Garrett, Tyon, Braun
3-4: Agbaji, Enaruna, Wilson
4-5: Silvio, Mitch
5: Dave, Gethro
I think Jossell and Gethro both take a RS. We'd also have two pretty good players not playing much at all. At this time I couldn't say who that would end up being but Bill isn't going 11 deep in tight games.
I think Silvio stays. I think there is a chance you can turn him into a lottery pick by the end of next season so it's a no brainer.
I also think Dotson is back...
He's just not mocking anywhere so far and he's basically been the same player he was last season only a little more assertive on offense. Nothing I've seen makes me think he's developed enough to go to the NBA.
Which means we're currently full on scholarships. And that next season's team is stacked. Would be a real shame to get a postseason ban.

Maybe it's confirmation bias but when I think of guys that the recruiting services missed on way more guards than bigs come to mind. Part of this is because there are more guards out there and more guard positions to put out there on the court.
This is sort of what I'm saying, just looking at it from another perspective I suppose.
If you recruit the #60 big man, expect him to play like a #60 big man who will take a year or two before they're ready to contribute.
If you recruit a #60 guard you aren't sure what you're getting necessarily. You may get an Enaruna. You may end up with a kid transferring out before the season even starts.
I just want to bring this back for a minute.
Enaruna and Braun being able to play right away really makes me think this is still the best path for the program. Freshman guards, even ones ranked 60+, are more likely to have the ability to contribute immediately than freshman big men ranked 20-60.
Something else that I have thought about that's new, is that big men are much easier to scout and rank. Most of it isn't technical. Either the guy is big and athletic, or he isn't. You're able to grade them more linearly. So unless you land a top 10 big, he's likely going to need a lot more seasoning.
Guards, on the other hand, can have a lot more variability. They have to be good a dribbling, passing, shooting, finishing and guarding on top of all of the physical traits. All of that is so subjective that attempting to accurately rate guards outside of the top 10 or 15 becomes increasingly difficult and essentially splitting hairs.
If the staff knows what they're looking for (they've shown the do) than it's much easier to find a guard ranked in the 60s and plug and play him than a big man that is significantly under-ranked.
It makes sense on the court. It makes sense off the court. I really hope Bill sees this as the year progresses. If we had played even half as aggressively on offense against Duke as we have in the games since, I think we end up beating them by 10. This team has the depth and athleticism to win it all this year. But I think the only way they realize their full potential is leaning into playing a lot of 4-guard.

Andrew through 11 games is averaging 25.9/5.1/3.6 and shooting 47.8/36.1/73.6. PER will probably be around 22 after tonight's stats compile. If he keeps this up he'll be an all star. His problem has always been staying hungry though. I hope he has turned the corner mentally.
He's still only 24 years old. He's actually 1 day younger than Devonte Graham.
