High ankle sprain is gonna linger all year for Doke.
Dave reminds a lot of T-Rob. He'll be a very good player and a very high ceiling, but he's very Raw at this point. When the game slows down for him and he starts refining his game, he'll be a 20-10 type of player, probably by his junior year.
This year, we'll see his energy, but he will be out of control a lot as well like with that mishandled attempted dunk that he was lucky to make because of nobody around him. He'll get rebounds, but his scoring this year will mostly be second chance points and lobs.

Looked like a dislocated ankle. Might be done for the year.
No way. If it's dislocated, he'd be back in a couple months maybe even slightly less.
A dislocated ankle is 3 months in a best case scenario. Sincerely, someone who has done that multiple times.
A dislocated ankle more than likely will require surgery to repair (both of mine did), 4-6 weeks in a boot post surgery, and about 3 months of no cutting or other change of direction activities.
If it's dislocated, it's closer to 4-5 months because of his size and what he needs to able to do to be effective.
@kjayhawks I was a senior at KU when all that went down with Mangino and the transition to Gill. The reason Gill was going to have eligibility issues were from Mangino's players rebelling against the coaching change. Had Gill been allowed the time to get all of those players filtered out of the program, he would've been fine and had KU in a much better place than the program is now.
In addition to Urban Meyer, Turner Gill also announced his retirement due to his wife's health issues.
The key with Chip Lindsey is whether he's bringing his offense, or if he's running Les Miles offense. Supposedly he requested his release from Auburn because of Malzahn meddling too much.
I would imagine he wouldn't take this job to run the Miles offense so I'm hoping we'll see a similar style offense to what he ran at Auburn which was a very high powered spread offense.
FarmerJayhawk said:
Tennessee is going with Freeze at OC. One fewer place looking at Lindsey.
Good, really didn't want Freeze here with his off the field baggage.
Les Miles has made his first addition to the staff with DB coach Chevis Jackson. Jackson played for Miles at LSU from 2004-2007, was a 3rd round pick in the 2008 NFL draft and had a 3+ year NFL career. He served as a GA at South Alabama and LSU and was the DB coach at Ball St. for the past 3 seasons.
I'll keep track of the hires Les Miles makes to his coaching staff here and add them as they are announced officially.
Offensive Coordinator: Chip Lindsey
Offensive Line Coach: Luke Meadows
Defensive Backs Coach: Chevis Jackson
As of December 2, the only FBS jobs that are available are the Charlotte, KSU, Louisville, Maryland, and UMass jobs. Colorado is announcing Georgia DC Melvin Tucker as their new coach today and Central Michigan announced Jim McElwain would be taking over that job today.
Bill Snyder is going to be announcing his retirement from KSU so that's another job that will be available. Money has to be on Jim Leavitt being their guy.

I am not surprised. Many of the candidates are likely coaching teams that are still playing and announcements will not happen until they are done; just professional courtesy.
It is considered an acceptable practice to hire an assistant away between the end of the regular season and a team's bowl game. Some coaches choose to stay with their previous team through the bowl game, some leave for their new job immediately, and some double dip.
That said, the names currently being tossed around the most to fill the coordinator spots are Jeff Monken who is the current offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Monken was the Oklahoma State OC in 2011 for that team that won the Big 12 and put up 7,000 yards of offense. He was also on staff at LSU under Miles for 2 years and was previously the HC at So. Miss where he turned around the Golden Eagles.
At DC, there are two names being g rumored strongly for the job. One is Phil Bennett who was most recently the DC ar Arizona State under Todd Graham. The knock on him is his ties to the Art Briles scandal at Baylor as he was Briles DC for a long time as well.
The other name being rumored the strongest along with Bennett is Clint Bowen. The defense was better this year and Bowen did make significant changes to his scheme this year, so we'll see. My thoughts on that are I'd rather see a new face take over the defense and let Bowen prove himself elsewhere first and then come back later on if he's successful elsewhere.
There are also 4 other assistants rumored to be in serious consideration to be retained along with Bowen. RB coach Tony Hull, WR coach Justin Johnson, OLine coach AJ Ricker, and TE/FB coach Garrett Riley.
That could also be a reason why Miles hasn't announced any hires yet officially because he is retaining some of the current staff who are handling the recruiting while Miles finalizes his coordinators.
Never realized how high Vick's release on his shot was. Definitely not how you would teach someone, but it works for him.
3 pointers are really the difference in the game right now. Stanford has made 7 more and has a 7 point lead. They aren't playing much better than KU today. Both teams struggling big time today.
Young team hopefully learning lessons they can carry throughout the rest of the season. I'd much rather see this team learn this lesson in December than lucking their way through the season and not learning this lesson in effort until February or March.
Stanford only shot 40% in the half (11-27). They're not playing very well either today.
kjayhawks said:
On paper this should be a minimum of a 2p point win. Lazy play same as early last season. Why are guys dont get fired up to play in sold out Allen is mind boggling.
When you experience something over and over, it becomes less motivational over time. Especially considering this isn't a high profile game and this isn't the best of AFH.
DCHawker said:
Stanford has one of the highest turnover rates in the country, but we're even in TOs in this game - not applying any real pressure...
This team isn't good enough defensively yet to try and pressure people. They would just get beat and give up even more easy baskets.
@jayballer73 It's entirely possible Miles choices for coordinators are still this weekend. Alabama's QB coach is one of the rumored names to be OC so he wouldn't be available to be announced until after today. If it's Jedd Fisch, he may not be available to commit to KU full time until January.
kjayhawks said:
@Texas-Hawk-10 If Herman hired Beaty for an OC, he would be the stupidest coach alive, unless he likes wasting 5 TOs a games because he can't get the play in or decide if he wants to punt from inside the opponents 40. Beaty was a decent WR coach and Recruiting coordinator but after what has been seen out of him running KUs offensive half the time he was here and his lone OC season at Rice, I'd call anyone a damn fool that wants him running their offense.
Herman is an offensive guy who would be calling plays in that scenario, not Beaty. Beaty would likely be up in the booth relaying what he's seeing the defense do.
I also don't think Beaty would be an OC if he joined Herman's staff at this point, I think he would either be a position coach or support staff.
Beaty and Herman are long time friends. There were rumors a couple of years ago that the reason he got the raise and extension was because he was considering leaving for the UT offensive coordinator job.
KU also had quite a bit of success against OU as well so another set of eyes isn't a bad thing.
Don't be shocked if Beaty is on Herman's staff next year.
@justanotherfan USC isn't going to be available this year and Louisville and UNC are both open although UNC is likely hiring Mack Brown again tomorrow.
FarmerJayhawk said:
@Texas-Hawk-10 go ahead and fill in Mack Brown to UNC. Presser tomorrow.
I'll add it once it becomes official. You never know if something screwy could happen last minute.
@HighEliteMajor Sorry, but 2007 is the wrong year to use that argument.
LSU had the best resume of the 4 teams in contention for that second title spot. Both of their losses were triple OT games to teams with winning records. They also beat Virginia Tech that season so there was zero argument for Virginia Tech deserving that spot. LSU also didn't lose at home as a 41 point favorite like USC or lose to middle of the road team like Oklahoma did.
The SEC wasn't at the point of getting the benefit of the doubt at that point as it was a couple of years before that when Auburn was the odd team out when them, OU, and USC all finished the regular season undefeated.
@HighEliteMajor The LSU 2007 national title was a very weird season in college football to begin with. There were only two major conference teams that finished with 1 loss going into bowl season that year and they were Ohio St. and Kansas. Ohio St. won the Big 10 to get their spot in the title game which they deserved. Kansas didn't make the Big 12 title game so they really didn't have much of a leg to stand on in that debate. I also think OU would've beaten Kansas in the Big 12 title game that season anyway had they played each other.
The other major conference champs all had 2 losses going into bowl season (LSU, OU, WVU, USC, and Pitt). The two teams that had a shot at reaching the title game and blew it in their final games were West Virginia and Missouri. WVU lost to Pitt in their final game to give them their second loss and knock them out of the game and Missouri got blown out by OU in the Big 12 title game that year to knock them out of the title picture.
The debate on who was going to play Ohio St. was between LSU and USC because LSU had already beaten Virginia Tech that season so LSU had the advantage. The difference was that neither of LSU's losses were considered bad losses. Both were in triple OT to teams that finished 8-5 overall that season whereas USC lost at home to a 4-8 Stanford team that USC was favored to beat by 41 points.
LSU won the 2007 title with two losses because every other credible contender except Ohio St. also had 2 losses.
Mack Brown coached at UNC before Texas so I'm guessing UNC would be hoping to get a repeat of his first tenure there which was very successful.
Now that most teams are finished with their regular season, that means teams are going to start making head coaching moves. This will keep track those moves. I'm only going to put a school here once the move is official. One job that was rumored to possibly to open up was USC after they finished 5-7, but administration is bringing Helton back next year.

The only reason Seth Littrell wouldn't take the Texas Tech job, where he spent 4 years under Leach, is because he would prefer the North Carolina job, where he spent 2 years as the associate head coach. Littrell is going to have his pick of Lubbock or Chapel Hill. I just don't see Venables taking the Tech job even though that's who their admins want. The one thing in Tech's favor though for Venables is their AD's relationship with Venables going back to their KSU days.

I’ve heard Hocutt at Tech May try to land Leavitt himself.
I think Vrenables is the guy to watch a Tech.
Seth Littrell is Tech's if they want him. That's the P5 job Littrell wants.
Bill Snyder is being forced out and it will be likely be Jim Leavitt being announced in the next week or two.

I’m hearing that Head Coach Bill Snyder will announce his retirement within the next 48 hours. I think that’s huge if it happens, Les maybe able to flip some guys over to Hawks.
Jim Leavitt is the guy KSU administration has wanted for awhile and Leavitt has a specific clause in his contract that he doesn't have pay his early exit buyout if he takes the KSU job.
Doke will always get at least one foul called against him because he's bigger than everyone else.
@jayballer73 We should probably start hearing rumors and official announcements about the staff this upcoming week now that most programs are finished with their regular seasons.
@wissox OU/WVU has now outscored UVA/UW.
Will Oklahoma/WVU football outscore UVA/UW basketball?
KU played like crap and only down 2, Tennessee hasn't played well either tonight, tired legs on both sides.

Where were UNC and Texas ranked in previous meets? UNC is #7 and Texas unranked so far although that is bound to change.
I know for sure this isn't least the second time Shaka has beaten UNC while at Texas. The announcers were mentioning that the first time Shaka did it was his first signature win at Texas so I assume that time UNC was ranked while Texas wasn't.

I was tied up in a phone conference so a i was able to watch the game only peripherally. Seems like the penalties were pretty lopsided in Texas favor.
Yes and no. Texas definitely had fewer calls against them, but they also played a more disciplined game. The only really egregious no call against Texas was a late hit on Sims on the opening kickoff. Other than that, this crew was pretty good overall. A few missed calls here and there, but nothing anybody was complaining about too much other than the opening kickoff.

14 play most of the season? 2 huge penalties. I don't recall him before today. 🤯
Kerr Johnson was the 4th leading receiver for KU this year.
@Woodrow You keep assuming I think Bender is a great QB. There's a big difference between being a great QB and being the best QB on the Kansas roster. Bender is the best QB on the KU roster, but your head is too far up your own ass to realize that.
@Woodrow Nothing bad to say about that TD pass to Charlot? There must have been something negative to say about that pass since Bender is the worst QB ever according to you.

You're the most negative person on here. You're never around when anything goes well for KU, only when something goes wrong to bag on Bender, Beaty, anything else you can pull out of your ass to bitch about, even during baksetball chats. So fuck off with the negative attitude towards KU or take it elsewhere like KUSports where you'd fit right in with your attitude.
