I have never seen a worse team in transition.

Also be nice to shoot better than 50% from the line

Huge 3 by Wiggington. Might be the dagger

@DanR in the 4 games without Doke Dedric averaged 23-ppg. He’s been very poor on offense so far. He’s got to step up. They know how to play without Doke.

Damn. This team is so bad at shooting .

That start is where we miss Doke. If he’s in you can throw him the ball and get a easy basket to calm things down.

To me it sounds like Bill thinks he could play but Doke is hesitant. ( which is fine)

ISU is -1 at the moment.

@jayballer73 I wouldn't be shocked at all. I think they will lose. It is a hard place to play as it is. We have lost up there with way better teams.

I actually hope that happens. I think it would be a home run hire for them. There is no doubt the guy can coach and he is going to be more motivated than ever to do it now.

I agree with @FarmerJayhawk . There’s no reason IMO to add non power 5 teams right now. They just don’t add anything. If the PAC 12 blows up then sure let’s add a couple of them, but outside of Houston those other schools don’t add much. In a article I posted on here a few days ago it doesn’t sound like the Big 12 has any interest in adding Houston. Although I will say with Kelvin Sampson and Holgo they now have a pretty salty 1-2 punch as far as coaches go in the 2 main sports.

I also have never been worried about the Big 12 going anywhere. As long as Texas and OU are in it it will be fine. As @Texas-Hawk-10 said earlier today as much as people hate Texas them being good at football is only going to help the conference.

I kind of feel the UCLA coaching job just isn't what it used to be. The state of California seems more interested in Pro Sports teams, smoking weed and the beach. I'm not sure if I was an up and coming coach I would want that job. Sure recruiting would be somewhat easy. But the Pac whatever just isn't the powerhouse it used to be.

This is pretty much what every analyst has said about the job since they fired Alford. Will be a fascinating search / hire for sure.

The league has looks to have taken a swing towards ugly offense and strong defensive play. We scored the most points tonight with 70. I'm not sure if its really good D or just terrible O, maybe a bit of both.

The Big 12 has 5 teams in KenPoms adjusted D rankings. Tech -1 , KSU - 5, OU - 7, KU - 8, and Texas -10.

So there is going to be some "ugly" ball played this year.

@BeddieKU23 What is the deal there? Those are nice numbers for a FR. Have his minutes been slashed or what? I remember when he was considered a hard KU lean.

@Woodrow It is a huge game for this early in the season. If we get a win in Hilton, we should win our next 4 after that, then get ISU at home. A 7-0 start would be outstanding.

100% agree. I was looking at the schedule past this Saturday and it sets up nicely for KU. Saturday could be the big win and a momentum type win for this team.

KU VS Lon game thread • Jan 03, 2019 04:27 AM

@Gorilla72 I would be surprised if they came away Saturday with a win.

Who do you play though? They don’t have to guard Grimes, Garrett, or Moore either. We all knew this team was going to lack shooting but I don’t think anyone could have predicted it would be this abysmal.

KU VS Lon game thread • Jan 03, 2019 03:13 AM

Grimes shot is not even close. He needs to Attack the rim

Anyone have the KenPom predicted score for tonight? I’d guess KU by 7-9.

NFL coaches canned • Jan 03, 2019 01:14 AM

I am interested to see who fills these 8 vacancies. I’m not sure there are 8 true legit candidates out there. I’ve seen a lot of college names thrown around so far, but who knows how much of that is the agent trying to get his client a raise. I’ve seen Kingsbury, Rhule, Brian Kelly, Harbaugh, Fitzgerald off the top of my head.

Other Games Tonight • Jan 02, 2019 10:21 PM

Obviously the focus is on the Hawks tonight, but the slate for opening night in the Big 12 is pretty good. TT @ WVU, Texas @ KSU , and Iowa St @ Okie St.

Nothing like conference play in college basketball.

Poor Silvio • Jan 02, 2019 07:02 PM

@Gorilla72 I just read that and found it odd that nobody has mentioned that his "source" is confident he will be cleared. I haven't heard it mentioned on the radio, twitter, or anywhere.

Also, his article is spot on. It is a joke at this point that he has not been cleared to play or ruled ineligible.

Holgerson to Houston • Jan 01, 2019 09:01 PM

@kjayhawks I read a article this week when the news came out that they were firing Applewhite and targeting Holgo that this was a move to “impress” the Big 12. However, the article made it sound like the Big 12 has no interest at all in Houston.

Chiefs • Dec 24, 2018 05:07 AM

@dylans Berry was out on the last Seattle drive.

Fuller did not dress and was inactive.

@JayHawkFanToo I love Jesse’s work. I look forward to reading his work and quick scouts on game days.

I think there will be several thousand KU fans in the house tonight so that should help. I actually heard as of yesterday there were still some tickets avalible.

Hope the Hawks come out focused. This would be a nice road win and make Christmas a lot sweeter for the boys and coaches.

Other Games Tonight • Dec 22, 2018 02:28 PM

That Marquette win is going to look really good come March. I gotta think they are the favorite to win the Big East.

Also Texas loses at home to Providence. Yikes. How in the world did they beat UNC.

I think the Big 12 is a 4-5 bid league this year. Have to wait and see what KSU is without Wade and how long he is out.

Mark Mitchell • Dec 22, 2018 02:23 PM

Read this article on Mark Mitchell this morning. I’ve heard of him before as he transferred out of my old school district.

Sounds like he is the real deal. Unfortunately I’ve heard that Kentucky is his dream school.

The news from Baton Rouge • Dec 21, 2018 04:20 PM

@mayjay Because Beaty screwed us over. He used a bunch of blue shirts and transfers last year to count us against this years class.

I am not a expert on all of that. There are so many loopholes as far as blueshirts, greyshirts, etc...

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/recruiting/2016/01/31/college-football-recruiting-redshirt-greenshirt-grayshirt-blueshirt/79603750/ ↗

Meanwhile, blueshirts represent the newest loophole for FBS programs to accumulate depth while not affecting their annual numbers. Like grayshirt recruits, blueshirts are counted toward the next season’s scholarship total.

There is one distinct difference, however. Unlike grayshirts, a blueshirt is able to enroll and participate in team events in the fall. This allows programs to get the best of both worlds: FBS schools can delay a scholarship for the following year, allowing them to over-sign beyond the 25-scholarship limit, and get the use of a prospect immediately rather than waiting until the following spring.

The news from Baton Rouge • Dec 21, 2018 04:14 PM

These articles talking about how poor the class are so lazy. They are just looking at rankings and class size. There is so much more going on with this years class. As stated above we had one commit when he took the job. The previous staff basically quit recruiting so Les and his NOT complete staff had approximately 3 weeks to address needs and try to find some kids.

As far as rankings are concerned KU can only take 15 or so kids this year so of course they are going to be ranked well below teams that have 20-25 kids.
