I just like having Mitch around the program. Seems like a great guy. Thatās why I wouldnāt hesitate to red shirt him if the bodies are there next year, weād get a bonus year of Mitch teaching the Jayhawk way.
@justanotherfan not āareā but āshould beā and if they donāt get it by then...
Itās a very young team. Iām thinking it may be a needed culture change.
My personal opinion, I donāt think Vick is a leader and it would be a travesty if the younger guys deferred to him. But if they didnāt he could be an asset as a shooter.
@jaybate-1.0 ah luck of the draw. If the pre-season #1 team doesnāt stand a chance who does? Time for optimism, the future is very bright!
@JayHawkFanToo This face? The man has a large mouth. Makes him look very demonstrative. !0_1528051615973_5C925C34-6270-4A9E-B582-37B1D448DD7F.jpeg ā
Ref, āplease donāt eat me.ā
@kjayhawks I see. I liked Perry a lot. Personally I never had an issue with his effort. He just couldnāt score over length.
@BShark Ha. I did a paper on Stan in a psych class while at KU. More than a little going on in that song.
@SkinnyKansasDude Once a Jayhawk always a Jayhawk, but dude wasnāt a boy scout. Maybe itās time for a culture overhaul?
@Statmachine A perfect 0-0 for three on the season I assume?
Barnes was good for the Big12. Barnes was a very good recruiter and coach. Texasss messed up and itāll cost them them the better part of a decade.
@kjayhawks Iām with you. How do you review a judgement call? Thatās my only complaint about the call. I can see reviewing foot placement for the ring under the basket, for three pointers, or out of bounds but to review a block/charge?
Unless itās blatantly obvious the ref was out of position to make the call, why review? And if the ref was out of position, why did he blow his whistle?
The only reasons I could come up with for why he may not be welcome. Itās all old news. Nothing I remember Perry doing either.

@JayHawkFanToo Go team meteor!
@BShark lol
@approxinfinity I couldnāt believe the way regulation ended. Hill missing a free throw and Smith with his head waaaay up his keister. LeBron was crying about his wasted effort. (Rightfully so- his teammates and the refs robbed him)
12th 50 point game of James career.

Sums it up.
@Crimsonorblue22 Nah, itās old news. Depending on whom gets hired Iāll probably be just as excited in a couple of years. I despised the job that man was doing.
@Crimsonorblue22 no, it just makes me happy.
Yay!
Fun puff piece about recruiting. I wonder how Kentucky and Duke stay 1 and 2 every season?

Free throw summer camp!!
Heās a natural foul magnet... who will in the coming months dedicate many many hours on the stripe with a free throw coach.. 200 shots a day minimum...
āMalcolm Gladwell, in his 2008 best selling book Outliers: The Story of Success, makes the point crystal clear. Yes, there are free throw shooters who have more natural talent to begin with, however, the fact is that the really great elite free throw shooters work much, much harder than all the others.

The idea, that excellence at performing a complex task requires a minimum level of practice, surfaces again and again in studies of expertise. In fact, researchers have settled on what they believe is the magic number for true expertise: 10,000 hours.āI've probably golfed 10,000 hours maybe, and expertise and golf do not go together for me!
ššš
Dok needs to shoot free throws with a pole beside him so when that chicken wing comes out it hurts. It needs to be instinctual not something he has to think about.
@mayjay I tend to think the Sixers will pick someone with more upside who will likely have a year long injury. :)
@justanotherfan I grew up playing more soccer than football, but I canāt stand to watch soccer. Iām not sure exactly what the numbers mean for viewership. I do see how that could ultimately affect the quality of players available though.
@JayHawkFanToo Good point. Dokās potiental impact on next years team is greater than any player in recent memory, so I guess Iām on pins and needles.
@Kcmatt7 The time off isnāt an issue for me. Itās the charmin soft players and rules of this generation that make the eras impossible to completely compare.
Enjoy your time away. I hope it brings about a refreshed viewpoint on our Hawks with the unbridled enthusiasm equal to which you are willing to defend LeBron!
@justanotherfan Correct 6 of 6 vs 3 of 8. Notice a trend? Jordan didnāt lose.
There isnāt single stat Iāve seen to support LeBron as being better than Jordan at their respective peaks. Until someone manufactures one I donāt feel any need to counter.
LeBron is the third best player ever. I hope that isnāt taken as a slight...but LBJ fans will take it as such, even though itās high praise.
Iām saying heās better than Bird, Shaq, Wilt, Russell, Kobe... everyone but Dr. J and the guy everyone (even #23 wearing James) wants to be like, Mike.
Letās try another barometer of the Pinacle of success then. Who was he finals mvp during Jordanās 6 trips? Who was the finals during Lebrons 8 trips?
Iām talking PER at their peak not over their whole career. This favors James as there are more years to chose from. Jordanās peak is higher making him the best player ever during his peak. If you want to argue that LeBron has more impact over his total career Iād listen to that argument, but itās not how I personally determine whom I think I is best basketball player.
@kcmatt7 I figured this would bring you out of retirement. Iām still waiting on a persuasive argument that actually breaks out stats and isnāt purely subjective in the support of LeBron being better than Jordan or even Julius Erving at their peak.
Or if you do t like advanced stats Jordan led the league in scoring all 10 of his peak years Lebronninly once in his 10 peak years.
Disadvantage for Jordan being he missed 2 peak years to play baseball or his peak would be even higher.
I was just picking Per since itās a stat I didnāt make up. What advanced stats do you prefer?
@justanotherfan I donāt think LeBron would stand a chance at guarding Jordan or Shaq or Kyrie. Iām not buying the he can guard anyone argument. Whereās the hardware?
@HighEliteMajor Me too! Only reason I posted. Like Christmas Eve as a kid.
Why hasnāt Dok made his intentions known publicly? Are there more tryouts in the next couple of days?
Oh, thank goodness. I thought this was a hs/college glory days thread. Not much sadder than that.
If you want to go subjective put Jordan in place of LeBron and vice versa. I feel with 100% certainty that Michael wouldāve won 4 straight in Miami and
3 of 4 vs GS. I dont think LBJ can match Jordanās 6/6. I do think Oakley and Ewing would make him their bitch and heād be at best 4 of 6 in Chicago. Or possibly 5 of 8 with no baseball hiatus.
@justanotherfan lol š Jordan couldnāt guard Shaq but that didnāt make OāNeil the best player ever either. Look at PER or any of the advanced stats or donāt if you want LBJ to still be the GOAT in your mind.
@justanotherfan No doubt James would be a better defender, but that doesnāt make him defensive player of the year. Heās judged against guys playing under the same rules.
My turn how many less points per game would LBJ have scored against 90s defense? 3-5 less per night?
@mayjay Why do you feel sorry for him? Maybe he loves to hate LeBron. One can derive just as much joy rooting against a perceived evil as rooting for the good guy.
I.e. The Raiders are only fun to bash when theyāre good. But that doesnāt stop me from enjoying every Chiefs wunnover them.
What I feel sorry for are the LeBron apologists who canāt enjoy him unless everyone else appreciates LBJ to the exact same extent they do. Haters are going to hate, donāt let that ruin your fun.
Edit this is in response to a really old post as it turns out. May have been answered already.
LeBron is great. Jordan is the GOAT.
The 7-10 year peak of great players is what I consider when talking about how good a player was. Both players have about a 10 year peak. Jordanās peak is higher for the full 10 years. LeBron is off his peak for a couple of years now so you can compare the heights of their carreers. The advanced stats bear it out as well as the championships, Jordan was better at his peak than any one basketball player.
LeBron will likely end up with more win-shares due to the longevity of his career, but thatās like saying Tommy John should be in the hall of fame because he has nearly 300 wins, never mind that it took him 27 seasons.
LeBron is a great defender, but donāt forget Jordan was defensive player of the year. Jordan led the league in steals 3 of his peak seasons.
This doesnāt take away from LeBron he is undoubtedly the best player of this generation, but that brings up another point. 90ās basketball allowed hand checking, how much better would Jordanās numbers be if you couldnāt have held him all game?
Iām not sure why comparing teammates matters. Isnāt the discussion whoās the greatest player, not whoās the greatest teammate (thatās probably Robert Horry with his 7 ships)?
I just want a 3D printer so I can stop looking for my kids lost legos. :D
@BigBad I donāt like Tyler Hansworth either.
...But for different reasons, neither of which is effort.
Iām telling you the next big thing for 3D printers are organs. There has been a printed, working human bladder. Ear and nose transplants are around the corner. Kidneys are next. After that ???

The NFL had around 14 billion in total revenue in 2017.

The best thing Iāve seen a 3D printer make a kidney. Thatās pretty cool and hopefully theyāll be able to make a viable organ soon. (It doesnāt function currently) Thatās the future of the tech as it stands now. That and making one off parts that are expensive or impractical to obtain.
Laurel plain as day. Apparently Iām mature. But in all fairness I damaged my hearing repletely and to much glee listening to music at decibels you could feel.
@Crimsonorblue22 Whatever gives them the best chance to win. š¤·āāļø
@no one on here just a rant
Why the lawsuits? How fān stupid do you have to be to not realize that repeatedly getting your head jarred is bad for your brain? Will boxers be next? Seems like a conscious decision to put your body out there to receive adulation, but when itās used up you are surprised? Silly and hardly the ncaas fault. What if the injuries happened back in hs or ms? Can it be proven?
How about soccer? More concussions occur in soccer than any other sport. Kids are flocking to it these days. What kind of society allows their kids to play such a dangerous game?
The pussification of the American male continues.
Day one in pregame warmups you could tell Embiid was far more talented than the somewhat disappointing Wiggins. I was completely underwhelmed by Wiggins talent, but Embiid floored me. Wiggins could jump faster and higher than anyone Iād ever seen, but raw basketball skill wasnāt there. Wiggins is an athletic freak not a basketball savant like Embiid. The only game I was able to attend that year was the first real game of the season.
Embiid is the most talented player Iāve seen since Pierce.
Jackson is the most productive from day one, but his talent pales in comparison to Embiid in my opinion from the little bit I saw of each. The way I quantify it Jackson has more talent than Wiggins, but less athleticism.
Iām just talking raw talent, not on court production. Some guys just have the it factor from day one and even my untrained eye can see the potential.
Embiid is far and away the most talented basketball player Iāve ever seen. Bar none.
I hope Grimes can be as productive as Josh Jackson.
Stats donāt do Rush justice. His defense is what elevates him and no stats acurately represent it yet.
@FarmerJayhawk Iām sorry you thought it was complicated at first. Didnāt mean to confuse you. Itās just an outlier thatās kinda funny (the only one not plural for 2010). Our 6ā11ā guy was really 6ā9ā Iām glad youāre in on the joke now, although like any joke it loses itās humor the more I have to explain why it tickles me.
