The parking nazis quit at some point in the evening 10 or 12. And start back up at 8 I think, thus the need to move the car in the morning. The lots are over sold so if he was out late (broke curfew so thatās a safe bet) all the spots were likely full. Not an uncommon problem. Billyās problem was being out too late and then not getting up early enough to take care of business compounding the issue.
@jayballer54 I went to Embiids first game at KU. I could tell in warmups well before the game started that he was special. I went to see Wiggins, but I couldn't take my eyes off of Embiid. Embiid is by far the best basketball talent I've ever seen in person. And I'd say he has the most potiental of any player since Wilt.
Ellis was the Gatorade national player of the year, wasn't he?
Butler must be cutting into Wiggins points.
He is completely dashing my dreams of becoming Selfs replacement (if Self were to retire soon). Brad has been simply too successful.
Say it aināt so Billy!
@DanR Yeah, but the Florida plates. Heās not from Florida. Itās really the only thing giving me pause about the situation.
How does one explain the Florida plates? Thatās the hold up for me. A Charger isnāt extravagant; I believe he couldāve legitimately come across one. I hope it all checks out, but if not KU will hold him out until the NCAA clears him and they may never clear him. I hope KU doesnāt get a rep as throwing the kids under the bus. I feel they are being cautious, but others may paint it in a different light.
Lester Earl drove a very nice suv. I can't remember which school bought it for him. I don't recall any players getting in trouble for cars at KU though.
@mayjay Iām glad Frank did. He was terrible as a freshman, but learned to control his body as the years went on. He drew a bunch of fouls agains Duke his freshman year, but the rest of the year he didnāt. We donāt have years for Malik to come around. He needs to be good now, but so far heās just average.
I expect so much more from Malik. Heās terrible right now. Drives 100 mph to nowhere. He needs to figure out how to play against length and equal athleticism.
I wish Bill wouldnāt say the international pipe line being open is strange. ahem adidas still scares me. Not that I think the staff did anything wrong, but who knows what adidas did? If recruiting seems strange to the coach is that a red flag? Hopefully Iām just paranoid, as Iād hate to see any harm befall our beloved Jayhawks.
@mayjay You are correct https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cats_in_the_United_States ā Wikipedia calls the mountain lion a big cat, but not a wildcat. The three listed wildcat species are the Ocelot (now that would be a cool house cat), Canadian Lynx, and Bobcat.
@JayHawkFanToo Yeah, cats suck.
Seems as though the term is a bit conflicted:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wildcat ā
https://owlcation.com/stem/The-Four-Wildcats-of-North-America ā
Says the Cougar is considered the largest of the small cats. And also considered a wildcat.
A wildcat can be a bobcat, but a wildcat doesnāt have to be a bobcat. (Square/rectangle)
@BShark Thinking back on last year itās hard to believe Frank missed half his three point attempts. I donāt seem to remember nearly that many misses. :) Dude was on fire NBA jam style.
@Bosthawk Gotta love Garrett. Dudes gonna be a multiple year stud. The kind of player you think of when you fondly remember KU hoops 10-20-30 years down the road. Unfortunately the Xavier Henryās of the world fade away...

@JayHawkFanToo I do hate that, or throw like a girl etc.
If youāre talking about my wife that means deadly acurate and hard. If youāre talking about my sister that means everyone 180 degrees in front of her is on notice. :)
So what does it mean?
Devonās sister/girlfriend is cute! Hope to see Devon on campus as soon as school is out. I love it when the guys show up early and gel with the team over the summer.
North Carolina is on the list as well and there are a ton of NCAA games hosted there. Missouri must not be on the list, didnāt KU lose in the Sprint center last year? I see no effect so far.
Who cares if KU plays any Cali schools? Other than that giant who played for the Anteaters those schools are usually boring. UCLA is only relevant currently because of Lavar Ball. Yuck. Can he go to China too?
I have a hard time choosing my favorite KU point guard in the last 30 years. Iāve narrowed it down and if I eliminate Mario as a 2 guard then itās easier...I still like Jacque Vaughn best. Frank Mason is a close second. I see Devonteā Graham as a mashup of the two. He could quite possibly be the best point guard KUās had in decades. He can shoot and distribute, looks to keep his team more involved. Always smiling which helps calm his team. He seems to be a natural leader!
@Gorilla72 Iām sure M. Robinson was in the crowd supporting his old team.
A gently waving wheat field in western KS during a perfect spring day is pretty alright too.
@BShark Thatās the kind of turnaround our football team needs.
@jhawk7782 Cunliff isn't very good, I was hoping for help from Silvio as you appear to be also.
More of a Darling Nikki day as covered by the Foo Fighters, here. :) yeah right
Depth becomes less of an issue second semester with Cunliff and hopefully DeSoussa becoming available.
37-3 baby!
If nothing else it would give him a leg up on McCormack next season. (As far as his personal motivations could go)
@Crimsonorblue22 The same way I feel when Higgins refs our games...š
I love that Cali discriminates against whomever it determines is discriminating. Itās perfect for that state.
@KUSTEVE heck add Az, UNC, UCLA, and 'Nova make it a double elimination tournament and let's decide the national champs in November! ;)
@3genhawk yes dish and directv both do
@jayballer54 ESPN3 has the game up immediately after it ends for replay. Nice quality so far this year and a login should be included in you sat. package. FYI KU was horrid the first half. That kind of effort will lead to losses. On the bright side Billy knows how to get buckets, even if the rest of the squad is offensively challenged.
Look at ticket prices. When Kentucky comes to town courtside tix bring $1500+. A typical conference game you can find the same seats for $500. A nobody in non-con still brings $300+
Personally Iād like to see yearly series with UK, Duke, and UNC. Youād know for darn sure where KU stands and those games would make bank.
The champions classic has 4 0f the top 5 teams in it this year. Those type of games are what do it for me, but youāve got to play some scrappy mid majors to prepare also.
Itās crazy how KU sells out every where they go. If you look at attendence records for the Big 12 over the last decade you can tell when KU is in town. Many schools only have one home sell out per season. KU even sells out rival arenas. Crazy.
You can remove MU from that game and it still makes money, but you canāt remove KU.
@KUSTEVE Itās a long article, but thatās all that pertains to KU. The rest is about how wonderful all the other top teams are i.e. Calās great at coaching up freshmen. Nothing eye opening.
$$$$ ? Or grades?
@BShark Yes and if a guy isnāt going to play all 4 years and can possible contribute in spot minutes why wouldnāt you want him here now? Although hindsight being 20/20 Svi couldāve stayed home another year. Svi was too young, I believe Silvio is already 18 though.
Bill Self: Total conference domination
Last March, when Kansas lost in the Elite Eight and it was again being said that Self somehow forgets how to coach a basketball team whenever he reaches a regional final, I dug into the coach's track record in the NCAA tournament. It turns out that such defeats on the threshold of the Final Four have drawn at least some of their prominence from the fact that Self has reached the Elite Eight more often than would be predicted based on his seeds alone.
That may be of little solace to traumatized Kansas fans, but it does refocus the discussion on what is truly the outstanding characteristic of the coach in question. Winning 13 conference titles in a row -- and doing so in the one-and-done era in a league that of late has tended to rank No. 1 in Division I for statistical strength -- is absolutely insane. Self will win a second national title before long, and all of this Elite Eight superstition will be buried like so much alluvial sediment after a prehistoric flood.

@bmensch1 Haase had a broken wrist and Billy Thomas went something like 0-12 from three. Keep chucking them up something will fall. I absolutely loved Vaughn, but he was offensively challenged. Couldāve gone undefeated that year.
@jayballer54 just a bit awkward is all I meant. Shoulda said he doesn't know what to do with himself.
@DanR I really donāt know. Just curious. I hope Bill doesnāt have to urge him out of his shell. I was/am expecting more of an alpha personality.
@nuleafjhawk Itās not money based upon merit. Itās based upon being a football team in the Big12 and the money that is (thankfully) evenly distributed even though KU hasnāt carried itās weight in years. Ridiculous, but true. Also making the $ divide worse is the NCAA keeps most of the money from the NCAA tournament.
Once Dok learns how to manipulate the defender into a position he can easily seal off; he will be unstoppable at the collegiate level.
I could absolutely get behind a double elimination tournament though. That would determine a more true champion. +for KU in ā97, ā01, ā02, ā11, ā16 (- in ā88 and `12 possibly ā08 as that tournament was stacked)
@wissox I donāt know if KU couldāve gotten up after the āNova game.
I really thought that was ātheā year. The good thing is, there is always next year, and not too many programs can say that!
Itās interesting how the different players personalities show up in the intros.
Malik looks down a couple of times- a little introverted?
Devonteā is clearly comfortable in front of as many poeple as you want to throw at him. Appears to be a natural leader.
KJ and Charlie really like the crowd - Like the crowd/attention too much?
Dokās size really showed up walking down the aisle. I canāt wait to see him set a devastating pick!
Svi looks like he doesnāt like human contact...
Lightfoot doesnāt really know what to do.
IMHO It reveals more about the team than the PSU exhibition did.
Pierce was a huge pothead. Didnāt seem to hinder him, but maybe he couldāve been greater? Or maybe it leveled him out and allowed him to cope so he could be what he was?
