Alexander, Diallo...Preston? • Nov 18, 2017 07:06 AM

The parking nazis quit at some point in the evening 10 or 12. And start back up at 8 I think, thus the need to move the car in the morning. The lots are over sold so if he was out late (broke curfew so that’s a safe bet) all the spots were likely full. Not an uncommon problem. Billy’s problem was being out too late and then not getting up early enough to take care of business compounding the issue.

What a life lol • Nov 17, 2017 10:31 PM

@jayballer54 I went to Embiids first game at KU. I could tell in warmups well before the game started that he was special. I went to see Wiggins, but I couldn't take my eyes off of Embiid. Embiid is by far the best basketball talent I've ever seen in person. And I'd say he has the most potiental of any player since Wilt.

Ellis was the Gatorade national player of the year, wasn't he?

What a life lol • Nov 17, 2017 10:18 PM

Butler must be cutting into Wiggins points.

Brad Stevens • Nov 17, 2017 10:13 PM

He is completely dashing my dreams of becoming Selfs replacement (if Self were to retire soon). Brad has been simply too successful.

Alexander, Diallo...Preston? • Nov 17, 2017 12:57 PM

Say it ain’t so Billy!

Alexander, Diallo...Preston? • Nov 17, 2017 12:57 PM

@DanR Yeah, but the Florida plates. He’s not from Florida. It’s really the only thing giving me pause about the situation.

Alexander, Diallo...Preston? • Nov 17, 2017 12:40 PM

How does one explain the Florida plates? That’s the hold up for me. A Charger isn’t extravagant; I believe he could’ve legitimately come across one. I hope it all checks out, but if not KU will hold him out until the NCAA clears him and they may never clear him. I hope KU doesn’t get a rep as throwing the kids under the bus. I feel they are being cautious, but others may paint it in a different light.

Alexander, Diallo...Preston? • Nov 16, 2017 01:57 PM

Lester Earl drove a very nice suv. I can't remember which school bought it for him. I don't recall any players getting in trouble for cars at KU though.

Man, that was FUGLY • Nov 15, 2017 03:32 PM

@mayjay I’m glad Frank did. He was terrible as a freshman, but learned to control his body as the years went on. He drew a bunch of fouls agains Duke his freshman year, but the rest of the year he didn’t. We don’t have years for Malik to come around. He needs to be good now, but so far he’s just average.

Man, that was FUGLY • Nov 15, 2017 03:17 PM

I expect so much more from Malik. He’s terrible right now. Drives 100 mph to nowhere. He needs to figure out how to play against length and equal athleticism.

SILVIO DESOUSA • Nov 13, 2017 04:52 PM

I wish Bill wouldn’t say the international pipe line being open is strange. ahem adidas still scares me. Not that I think the staff did anything wrong, but who knows what adidas did? If recruiting seems strange to the coach is that a red flag? Hopefully I’m just paranoid, as I’d hate to see any harm befall our beloved Jayhawks.

@mayjay You are correct https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cats_in_the_United_States ↗ Wikipedia calls the mountain lion a big cat, but not a wildcat. The three listed wildcat species are the Ocelot (now that would be a cool house cat), Canadian Lynx, and Bobcat.

@JayHawkFanToo Yeah, cats suck.

Seems as though the term is a bit conflicted:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wildcat ↗

https://owlcation.com/stem/The-Four-Wildcats-of-North-America ↗

Says the Cougar is considered the largest of the small cats. And also considered a wildcat.

A wildcat can be a bobcat, but a wildcat doesn’t have to be a bobcat. (Square/rectangle)

@BShark Thinking back on last year it’s hard to believe Frank missed half his three point attempts. I don’t seem to remember nearly that many misses. :) Dude was on fire NBA jam style.

4 OUT Small Ball • Nov 12, 2017 04:15 PM

@Bosthawk Gotta love Garrett. Dudes gonna be a multiple year stud. The kind of player you think of when you fondly remember KU hoops 10-20-30 years down the road. Unfortunately the Xavier Henry’s of the world fade away...

@JayHawkFanToo I do hate that, or throw like a girl etc.

If you’re talking about my wife that means deadly acurate and hard. If you’re talking about my sister that means everyone 180 degrees in front of her is on notice. :)

So what does it mean?

Are we done recruiting? • Nov 12, 2017 03:27 PM

Devon’s sister/girlfriend is cute! Hope to see Devon on campus as soon as school is out. I love it when the guys show up early and gel with the team over the summer.

New Kansas Poll About Rivalries • Nov 12, 2017 03:19 PM

North Carolina is on the list as well and there are a ton of NCAA games hosted there. Missouri must not be on the list, didn’t KU lose in the Sprint center last year? I see no effect so far.

Who cares if KU plays any Cali schools? Other than that giant who played for the Anteaters those schools are usually boring. UCLA is only relevant currently because of Lavar Ball. Yuck. Can he go to China too?

4 OUT Small Ball • Nov 11, 2017 04:21 PM

I have a hard time choosing my favorite KU point guard in the last 30 years. I’ve narrowed it down and if I eliminate Mario as a 2 guard then it’s easier...I still like Jacque Vaughn best. Frank Mason is a close second. I see Devonte’ Graham as a mashup of the two. He could quite possibly be the best point guard KU’s had in decades. He can shoot and distribute, looks to keep his team more involved. Always smiling which helps calm his team. He seems to be a natural leader!

@Gorilla72 I’m sure M. Robinson was in the crowd supporting his old team.

A gently waving wheat field in western KS during a perfect spring day is pretty alright too.

Gameday!!!! • Nov 11, 2017 01:22 AM

@BShark That’s the kind of turnaround our football team needs.

Ok so what's your guess ? • Nov 10, 2017 11:41 PM

@jhawk7782 Cunliff isn't very good, I was hoping for help from Silvio as you appear to be also.

Current Mood • Nov 10, 2017 08:11 PM

More of a Darling Nikki day as covered by the Foo Fighters, here. :) yeah right

Ok so what's your guess ? • Nov 10, 2017 05:40 PM

Depth becomes less of an issue second semester with Cunliff and hopefully DeSoussa becoming available.

37-3 baby!

SILVIO DESOUSA • Nov 09, 2017 07:33 PM

If nothing else it would give him a leg up on McCormack next season. (As far as his personal motivations could go)

Have to love it • Nov 09, 2017 07:21 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 The same way I feel when Higgins refs our games...šŸ‘…

New Kansas Poll About Rivalries • Nov 09, 2017 04:07 PM

I love that Cali discriminates against whomever it determines is discriminating. It’s perfect for that state.

New Kansas Poll About Rivalries • Nov 08, 2017 07:02 PM

@KUSTEVE heck add Az, UNC, UCLA, and 'Nova make it a double elimination tournament and let's decide the national champs in November! ;)

Gameday!!!! • Nov 08, 2017 04:36 PM

@3genhawk yes dish and directv both do

Gameday!!!! • Nov 08, 2017 04:00 PM

@jayballer54 ESPN3 has the game up immediately after it ends for replay. Nice quality so far this year and a login should be included in you sat. package. FYI KU was horrid the first half. That kind of effort will lead to losses. On the bright side Billy knows how to get buckets, even if the rest of the squad is offensively challenged.

New Kansas Poll About Rivalries • Nov 08, 2017 03:53 PM

Look at ticket prices. When Kentucky comes to town courtside tix bring $1500+. A typical conference game you can find the same seats for $500. A nobody in non-con still brings $300+

Personally I’d like to see yearly series with UK, Duke, and UNC. You’d know for darn sure where KU stands and those games would make bank.

The champions classic has 4 0f the top 5 teams in it this year. Those type of games are what do it for me, but you’ve got to play some scrappy mid majors to prepare also.

Compare THIS to KU-MU! • Nov 07, 2017 07:08 PM

It’s crazy how KU sells out every where they go. If you look at attendence records for the Big 12 over the last decade you can tell when KU is in town. Many schools only have one home sell out per season. KU even sells out rival arenas. Crazy.

You can remove MU from that game and it still makes money, but you can’t remove KU.

ESPN gets it right? • Nov 07, 2017 03:47 PM

@KUSTEVE It’s a long article, but that’s all that pertains to KU. The rest is about how wonderful all the other top teams are i.e. Cal’s great at coaching up freshmen. Nothing eye opening.

Collin Sexton • Nov 07, 2017 01:59 PM

$$$$ ? Or grades?

SILVIO DESOUSA • Nov 07, 2017 01:53 PM

@BShark Yes and if a guy isn’t going to play all 4 years and can possible contribute in spot minutes why wouldn’t you want him here now? Although hindsight being 20/20 Svi could’ve stayed home another year. Svi was too young, I believe Silvio is already 18 though.

ESPN gets it right? • Nov 07, 2017 01:48 PM

Bill Self: Total conference domination

Last March, when Kansas lost in the Elite Eight and it was again being said that Self somehow forgets how to coach a basketball team whenever he reaches a regional final, I dug into the coach's track record in the NCAA tournament. It turns out that such defeats on the threshold of the Final Four have drawn at least some of their prominence from the fact that Self has reached the Elite Eight more often than would be predicted based on his seeds alone.

That may be of little solace to traumatized Kansas fans, but it does refocus the discussion on what is truly the outstanding characteristic of the coach in question. Winning 13 conference titles in a row -- and doing so in the one-and-done era in a league that of late has tended to rank No. 1 in Division I for statistical strength -- is absolutely insane. Self will win a second national title before long, and all of this Elite Eight superstition will be buried like so much alluvial sediment after a prehistoric flood.

Is this current KU team special? • Nov 06, 2017 01:39 PM

@bmensch1 Haase had a broken wrist and Billy Thomas went something like 0-12 from three. Keep chucking them up something will fall. I absolutely loved Vaughn, but he was offensively challenged. Could’ve gone undefeated that year.

No Pressure, No Diamonds • Nov 04, 2017 10:46 PM

@jayballer54 just a bit awkward is all I meant. Shoulda said he doesn't know what to do with himself.

No Pressure, No Diamonds • Nov 04, 2017 04:35 AM

@DanR I really don’t know. Just curious. I hope Bill doesn’t have to urge him out of his shell. I was/am expecting more of an alpha personality.

@nuleafjhawk It’s not money based upon merit. It’s based upon being a football team in the Big12 and the money that is (thankfully) evenly distributed even though KU hasn’t carried it’s weight in years. Ridiculous, but true. Also making the $ divide worse is the NCAA keeps most of the money from the NCAA tournament.

Is this current KU team special? • Nov 03, 2017 05:59 PM

Once Dok learns how to manipulate the defender into a position he can easily seal off; he will be unstoppable at the collegiate level.

Bring back the 3rd place game! • Nov 03, 2017 05:56 PM

I could absolutely get behind a double elimination tournament though. That would determine a more true champion. +for KU in ā€˜97, ā€˜01, ’02, ’11, ā€˜16 (- in ā€˜88 and `12 possibly ā€˜08 as that tournament was stacked)

Bring back the 3rd place game! • Nov 03, 2017 05:52 PM

@wissox I don’t know if KU could’ve gotten up after the ā€˜Nova game.

I really thought that was ā€œtheā€ year. The good thing is, there is always next year, and not too many programs can say that!

No Pressure, No Diamonds • Nov 03, 2017 05:48 PM

It’s interesting how the different players personalities show up in the intros.

Malik looks down a couple of times- a little introverted?

Devonte’ is clearly comfortable in front of as many poeple as you want to throw at him. Appears to be a natural leader.

KJ and Charlie really like the crowd - Like the crowd/attention too much?

Dok’s size really showed up walking down the aisle. I can’t wait to see him set a devastating pick!

Svi looks like he doesn’t like human contact...

Lightfoot doesn’t really know what to do.

IMHO It reveals more about the team than the PSU exhibition did.

Bragg walks away from basketball. • Nov 03, 2017 02:18 PM

Pierce was a huge pothead. Didn’t seem to hinder him, but maybe he could’ve been greater? Or maybe it leveled him out and allowed him to cope so he could be what he was?
