Some early season stats • Dec 01, 2017 03:55 PM

KenPom has OU’s offense ranked 36th and KU’s 5th. The unadjusted numbers for OU may not be as flattering as they seem.

Can someone remind me why Colbey left? • Dec 01, 2017 03:36 PM

When Coleby left he was 3rd on the post depth chart behind Preston and Dok. With Whitman coming in he could’ve been 4th in his mind. KU ran the 4-1 a lot the season prior, so there isn’t a ton of post minutes for the 3rd or 4th post. At wku he was projected as the 2nd best big behind a head case that left (so he’s the man), but even if Robinson had stuck around in a traditional offense Coleby would get a ton of minutes. It looks like he made the right decision for himself. Coleby is playing a ton and playing fairly well from the sounds of it.

@jaybate-1-0 I thought I that play was weird when it happened too. Hopefully we’re reading something into nothing.

Graham 30, Toledo 30 • Nov 30, 2017 12:31 AM

Best fans in the nation. Nearly 1/4 of Allen Fieldhouse is reserved for students (4000 seats). Anyone willing to pony up :dollar: can sit in the first 10 rows - doesn’t make them bad fans. Those are generally the fans that win you more games than the rowdy ones. Donations do more than vocal support.

I like the blowouts. I feel like Malik needs the confidence that blowouts will instill. KU will be tested later, but I like the blowouts for team chemistry building also.
D

Graham 30, Toledo 30 • Nov 29, 2017 04:08 PM

@JayHawkFanToo It’s best to keep ā€˜em wanting more. Allen Fieldhouse would suck if it was 50,000 seats and the demand would go down as you could get tickets to any game you wanted.

Allen Fieldhouse offers the best home court advantage bar none. The trade off is KU will never have the highest home court attendance as long as they play in Allen Fieldhouse. Another good thing about that is it keeps the market from becoming completely saturated.

@wissox Looking for a happy medium. Calm cool and collected in the face of defeat. Able to analyze and interpret the results without becoming overwhelmed by negative emotions. All while still caring enough about the outcome for it to be a huge letdown. Not an easy balance, but I do it well. ;) thanks for noticing. LoL

(I prefer to not dwell on the last crushing defeat of the season as it really has no bearing on the only important team left- next years squad. However it’s impossible not to, I get too involved in the seasons ups and downs.)

Funny, the two games against SEC opponents look to be KU’s hardest.

Graham 30, Toledo 30 • Nov 29, 2017 02:33 AM

@justanotherfan Toledo sure hopes so!

Graham 30, Toledo 30 • Nov 29, 2017 02:30 AM

35-35 now!

DeSousa • Nov 28, 2017 08:44 PM

@BShark I’m just hoping for one (half) season...

DeSousa • Nov 28, 2017 08:42 PM

@BeddieKU23 lots of big man talent next year. It’ll be way different than this season. The post would be crazy deep if Dok comes back.

DeSousa • Nov 28, 2017 08:32 PM

@BeddieKU23 that’s pretty much how I see it. I just throw out the extremely unlikely possibility of a redshirt in the event that Preston comes back, the 4-1 is the mainstay, and Silvio isn’t ready yet. I expect he will play catch-up most of the season surpassing Lightfoot 1/2- 2/3 the way thru the conference season. If he’s not going to be here for four years no sense in saving eligibility, but Svi was a 2ad supposedly and Rush was a oad- you never fully know how it’s going to turn out developmentally or injury wise.

KU Nova home and home • Nov 28, 2017 08:23 PM

@mayjay The thing that made me laugh the most:

There was one play where I (Mario) threw a lob to Shady on an inbounds pass and he dunked over Scottie Reynolds. Right before I threw it I looked at Jay Wright and said, ā€œWatch this!ā€ That game was definitely personal for Sherron and me.

Pro Jayhawk updates • Nov 28, 2017 04:27 PM

Perry’s tearing up oz. how appropriate.

KU Nova home and home • Nov 28, 2017 04:25 PM

What year did Mario punk Jay? That was funny stuff. Not good enough for mr. wrongs team.

DeSousa • Nov 28, 2017 04:23 PM

Silvio will be another great body to practice against, he may be able to earn some minutes by the end of the season. But if not he could redshirt to maintain his eligibility and have 6 months of practice under his belt before his debut. I hate how thin we are in the post, but if Preston comes back Silvio becomes a luxury.

This season KU needs more guard depth as much as anything. Cunliff giving the guys a breather sure will help. In Svi’s best game he was horribly winded for a 5-8 minute stretch and it would’ve been nice to put his dragging butt on the bench. A good team could’ve taken advantage on d while KUs over tired.

I love that Duke is taken to the wire twice and that instilled the confidence in the voters to make them unanimous number 1.

Holiday Hoops • Nov 27, 2017 03:45 PM

How in the world did Florida manage to lose? Here I was thinking we got robbed in the sec/ big12 challenge. I wanted Florida, but not if they’re chokers. So Was Duke that good down the stretch or Florida that bad?

KU Commits Stats, Tweets, Highlights Etc... • Nov 27, 2017 03:29 PM

Grimes is amazing, but he’ll be a oad. He states as much at the end of the video when he says he won’t play with Markese. No big surprise there. Jacobs looks nice, but Grimes stands out.

One for the ages. • Nov 26, 2017 05:17 PM

I don’t watch enough college football to really know, but it looks like a tough decision for the fourth playoff team. If you could have Georgia, Alabama, Wisconsin, and Auburn play for the last two spots that would help. I’m counting on Clemson beating Miami, but if it turns out the other way? Massive poop storm. It’s hard to exclude Auburn after they have beaten 2 number one ranked teams.

I thought Alabama and Georgia’s resumes were weak, but then I looked at Wisconsin’s schedule. I’m glad I’m not on the committee. They will get blasted this year. The best thing about it isn’t that it gets all four teams right, it’s that it gives the best team a shot. There won’t be another year where two teams can lay claim to the title.

Oklahoma, and Clemson look to be in, but it’s a mess after that. Kinda funny really. It doesn’t matter how many teams they allow into the national title game/playoffs the first non-qualifier will feel slighted.

Doke and Mitch and Life’s a B$&%#! • Nov 26, 2017 04:58 PM

@mayjay Wilt should be your 10, who is this Magic guy?

Imho Mitch is a good basketball player, much better than 99% of all high school players (he was a top150 player). But Mitch will not be a star at KU or on he collegiate level period. This doesn’t make him a bad player, just not exceptional. He fills a roll and that’s all we can expect from him. He doesn’t have immense talent that he’s wasting (ie Bragg) he’s giving what he’s got and in doing so he’s making the rest of the team better. He’s a Jayhawk through and through, so much so he had to tell a Sr. with a bad attitude and a bitchin’ stache how to play the game KUs way.

Walton at it again • Nov 25, 2017 06:20 AM

I find Walton mildly entertaining when I’m watching the same game for the 5th or 6th time and am not really paying attention...

I missed the game • Nov 25, 2017 06:04 AM

Dok had 9 of KUs first 11. Then he had a silky foul (over the back) and took an early seat. Whilst Dok was on his behind the guards scorched the nets and the game was over before halftime. The second half started off with KU playing well and basically unguarded, so Oakland’s coach burned his last two timeouts 3 1/2 minutes into the second half.

Dok is an impossible guard for shorter players.

Malik needs more confidence. He could be the best player for KU this year if he puts it together.

Vick looks amazing!

Devonte’ has been a great leader so far.

Damn Arizona • Nov 25, 2017 04:38 AM

Methinks Arizona was a tad overrated 3 games ago.

Anybody watching Duke vs Texas? • Nov 25, 2017 04:35 AM

Ehh schlocka hasn’t won any conference that I’m aware of. I don’t think that’ll change this season. Will KU go undefeated...probably not. Will I bet against them? Hell no!

KU Commits Stats, Tweets, Highlights Etc... • Nov 23, 2017 03:46 PM

I hope Revis has something left in the tank. He should be a huge upgrade over Gaines.

It would be different if Allen Fieldhouse had empty seats...Why don’t they do us all a favor and blackout KU football games?

Fire Beatty. Fire him now. • Nov 22, 2017 03:52 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 and he’s 5’11ā€ also. I predict a flameout in Baker’s short NFL future likely with the Browns after they ruin Kizer.

Doke/top 10 ESPN • Nov 22, 2017 03:50 PM

Allen tripping someone?

"They All Poison" • Nov 22, 2017 03:44 PM

@HighEliteMajor Are you talking about a sports coach or an English professor? I don’t want my English prof. teaching football or my football coach teaching English. (In the 7th grade they were one and the same for me and I didn’t learn Shakespearean words on the field, but the vocab was definitely different than in the hallways).

It’s amazing to me that so many African Americans have to have an interview voice/change their speech pattern. They simply can’t be themselves and expect to get a job In corporate America. It’s terrible as slang/accent is more of a reflection of your environment than your intelligence. Otherwise every southern man I’ve ever met is a moron, but we all know that’s far from the truth.

ESPN/WHY? • Nov 22, 2017 03:38 PM

I thought it was a great game. Too bad Heild had to lose. Gotta love how classy the crowd was giving him a standing ovation. Oh wait, you’re talking about a game no one in their right mind would want to revisit. KU football is a bad joke.

Fire Beatty. Fire him now. • Nov 21, 2017 05:31 PM

I'm betting hiring Les Miles with Tony Hull retained could keep any of the Louisiana recruits that haven't already backed out.

Chorfs • Nov 21, 2017 03:52 AM

The Chiefs need a CB desperately. Gaines is not an NFL caliber player.

Big 12 non con • Nov 20, 2017 06:15 PM

@mayjay ?

News some of you can use. • Nov 20, 2017 04:01 PM

I was fairly impressed with tech last year. Too bad osu couldn’t hold onto their coach, he seemed to have them on the right track also.

Big 12 non con • Nov 20, 2017 03:30 PM

@mayjay why? Revise history to make themselves look better? I don’t revise my predictive posts about KU winning on the rare occasion I’m wrong. :) it’s just time own your mistake and to write another article/post.

Some Misc Basketball • Nov 20, 2017 03:24 PM

He got a taste of playing against talented guys and left basketball with his tail between his legs. Apparently no one told him he would be on their team when the season starts.

Smart's heir apparent. • Nov 20, 2017 03:21 PM

It looks like his finger tips may graze Allen’s face. The reaction is priceless though. Man, up :cat:

Big 12 non con • Nov 20, 2017 03:16 PM

That article was posted early morning on the 18th, so it’s not like they ignored the win. The only reason northwerstern is in the news is the last year was their first trip to the tournament. It’s just some feel good crap for the early going before anyone knows how good or bad they really are. I don’t read it as a slight to ttu so much as praise for a down program on the rise however short lived it may be. But yeah ESPN sucks.

Big 12 non con • Nov 20, 2017 02:40 AM

Best basketball conference in America. :)

@ICTJayhawk definitely not past history.

Fire Beatty. Fire him now. • Nov 19, 2017 02:11 PM

I’m just glad they showed a little emotion. I thought the players had completely given up. Now if the leadership could channel it into something constructive we’d have something. As it is it’s not pretty, but at least they weren’t grabbing their crotches and yelling f you at the other team.

I hope Beaty can figure out something positive to do with that energy in the next game.

Alexander, Diallo...Preston? • Nov 18, 2017 05:58 PM

@REHawk Heavens no. That was just the first issue, but hopefully not the tip of an iceberg.

Self is getting his primary targets. We should be excited to see what he can do with the guys he wants! Other than that, who knows how it’ll turn out? That’s half the fun, but it’s nice playing with a loaded deck.
