I know in HS when we played in the consolation game for 3rd (won state once took 4th twice) no effort was given. It was a losers game and most didnât want to be in it, so didnât give great effort. I know bad attitude (I didnât play), but itâs the truth of the matter.
Dok is rough, but Bill is working on tapping into that emense potiental. He has soo much more going for him physically than even 5th year Lando had going for him.
Itâs cray that in a âdownâ year for the big 12 all 10 team are ranked in the top 55 â out of 351 teams. (Top 48 on the unlinked ESPN list). So if that holds up even when playing a cellar dweller it will be a round of 64 level opponent. No nights off even in a down year.
Sorry to hear this @KUSteve http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/21266399/deshaun-watson-houston-texans-tears-acl-thursday-practice â
DeShaun was fun to watch. That guy had a veterans presence in the pocket already. Too bad.
Special today? No, but maybe by the seasons end.

@dylans Not the same person.
Definitely not! I didnât know his first name so thatâs the search I started with. No Bueno
But if you type Garland Vanderbilt as a search...Wow. People are sick.
@JayHawkFanToo Didn't Roy mercifully end the series at wsu request? I don't believe I've read differently here or elsewhere. Maybe I misunderstood your take.
KUs non con is crappy this year WSU would've been the second best team KU plays pretty much all year. I do think that would help KU prepare for March.
Greg Marshall is a good coach, but one who needs put in his place. KU can't do that without actually beating them on the hardwood.
I'm all for a one off game, but am in 100% agreement with you that an ongoing series would be a mistake.
Yes, I shall name it George. That way everyone knows what I'm talking about nationally.
I am against an ongoing series with wsu, but they are a preseason top 10 team (ranked higher than KU in some polls). They have also ended KUs season the last two times they met. I am wholly for a game now, but it's something that needs evaluated yearly. (So it won't happen) No the game doesn't help recruiting, unless it's a nationally televised prime time matchup of top 10 teams.
As far as how does it actually help KU? These are the type of teams that bounce KU in March, the regular season is the time to get exposed and fix the issues.
@Jayballer54 I agree that WSU is now a worthy opponent and KU should be playing them as long as they can stay relevant. When KU (Roy) discontinued the series it was extremely lopsided and WSU posed no more challenge than PSU will tonight. While WSU is prone to decades of mediocrity, times have changed, time to catch up. We owe the Shlockers a little payback anyways!
@approxinfinity FOE
@BShark Yup.
Iâve got a fixed antenna set up in the attic, but I like the looks of this one. I may be able to pick up a couple more channels with it. I know in/near KC you can get a ton of channels over the air.
Mostly we use netflix and vudu. Other than KU games itâs rare that the tv is on to entertain the adults. :)
Love me some George Carlin. His Baseball vs. Football bit is awesome!
@DanR yeah Iâm afraid so. He got the boot awhile back and has declined to come back. I donât blame him.
@BeddieKU23 Nice breakdown. I was thinking there were over 300 NCAA teams, got called out on it and too lazy to check. Thanks for (unknowingly) saving me from doing my due diligence!
@HawkChamp Hope so, cause itâs what weâve got!
Maybe instead of getting battle tested and beat up in conference KU can enter the postseason well rested?
I will watch the games. The casual fans, like my parents, wonât. And that sucks as it took me years to get them to watch KU in the first place, as of right now their interest is fair, but waining.
@BShark That reminds me, we need to thank Texass for landing Coleman clearing the way for Dotson (and Grimes?!?)
@BShark as I see it: I used to be able to watch 100% of KUâs games on basic cable. Easy peasey.
Now 1/4 of the games are something I wouldâve had to search for if I still had basic cable. Itâs a lot more work than just finding the channel to see the KU game, but you are correct itâs still possible to see every game.

KU until I hear differently. Heâll commit and sign mid-November.
Thatâd be a good b-day present for moi!
@BShark Gotcha. Much better topic, but apparently not stirring interest here at the moment.
The Kaw River is the same as the Kansas River. The Kansas River is in NE Kansas. The Ar-Kansas river is further south and completely dry 99% of the time here in western Kansas (Colorado dams up all the water), but flows full time in central KS to east then south.
@BShark was the link about the 2008 championship team when you commented? I can't for the life of me find 2 more threads about the champs.
@BShark The other two get deleted?
Collins on the feeling on the court as KU and Memphis walked to their benches and the end of regulation in the NCAA title game:
âYou could see it,â Collins said. âWe sucked the life out of them, we took their best shot and, at this point, we knew it was over and we were gonna win.â
I felt the same way. I had no doubt myself at that point. We were already celebrating. The overtime was a mere formality.
I was wondering when they would retire Sherron and Coleâs numbers. Itâll be a while for Frank, but Iâll try to make that game. (Really gonna miss that guy!)
Itâs not blacked out on replay about 5 minutes after the game concludes on ESPN 3. Which should be more than late enough to dump the remaining candy in some lucky kids bag and shut off all the lights!
Thanks @wrwlumpy
@kjayhawks I remeber something of the sorts. They were a good D2 team, but it didnât leave me feeling good about our squad.
Sad. I hope this is what gets him back on track.
Hmm MUmatt loves him. Some Zenger. Surprise!
@KUSteve don't you own a hose? Teenagers are great targets for the tricks!
We must carry a good rep it's a small town and we'll get 50-100 (depending on weather) kids by with about 10% repeats. We decorate kinda scary so I try to meet the little kids that don't want to come to the door in the driveway. Busy and fun, so I won't be watching a crappy blacked out exhibiton game until very late.
KUâs first exhibition game is against PSU on Halloween at 7pm. Is Zenger really that ignorant? Why is he making parent choose between watching their beloved âHawks and taking the kids out? WTF is wrong with Zenger!?! Is he reall that GD stupid? Oh yea, he signed that ridiculous contract with TimeWarner Cable so we already knew he doesnât care about the fans of Kansas basketball...
Long rebounds on long shots favor the guards. If thatâs what they are taking and KU is being outrebounded then itâs likely the other team isnât getting back on D. Time to outlet pass like Cole Aldrich and burn those suckers on easy run outs. Thatâll force the d to get back and make rebounding easier for KU.
To heck with Bolden though. If we are wishing I want a healthy Dok last year. Benefits us twice. Once when we win it all last year. And once again in his experience for this year as he was too young to go pro.
@BeddieKU23 A potiental answer to poor post play. It also wouldâve allowed Self to move on from Bragg earlier. Bolden couldâve been a good player given the right set of circumstances. Would he have at KU? I donât know, but we all know how the season did end - abused by athletic post plays.
Wait there is now a third site for game chat?
@BShark No gameplan, no game prep. Iâm assuming very few set plays. I doubt very much that KU resembles what you saw yesterday in March.
@HawkChamp No. I wouldnât support MU in any way. And I donât pay for exhibition games or go to late night for that matter. I didnât watch the Italy games either- Pre-season ball is trash comparable to pre-season football. Itâs a facsimile of a game. I just hope it helped prepare the guys for real games.
And no as talented as MU is they are not worthy of KU playing them in basketball making them relevant again. MU isnât worthy of lighterfluid much less piss if they are on fire. A slow burn is what they deserve.
@Mayjay OK. I donât see MU a worthy opponent. But I do see how I took your comment out of context and for that I apologize.
Oh and just remove the m. From after www.m.youtube.... to embed the video. Or you can just click edit on my post and see what I did.
@mayjay Duh, but you asked just two posts ago whatâs the worst that could happen? I guess I could find something more gruesome for you, but this is bad enough for me.
@mayjay But you are not everybody.
@mayjay No worst of all would be similar to this:
@mayjay I hope so, but people in general arenât as good as weâd like them to be. Hell KU fans canât even get along with each other.
DoubleDD said:
Last I heard KU fans were kicking the crap out of MU fans in charitable donations.
Last time I checked.
Iâm not sure if this is a good thing or not. Seems kinda selfish. It potientally means KU fans had more they were able to donate, but only if given something. Whereas MU fans may have already donated all they could afford.
I still wish KU wouldâve played WSU as opposed to selling out. But itâs happened, no one got hurt, and a bunch of blood money was raised for a legitimately good cause.
The Dodgers were amazing early. Theyâre my pick, but Iâve got no skin in the game. :)
@jayballer54 Langford. I'd love to have both though.
@BShark Soley to blame? Hell no! Not even close. Part of the overall problem that will keep the Chiefs from winning a Super Bowl. Hell yes! The team is too flawed for someone less than perfect to guarantee that. Alex Smith is pretty darn good - way better than the crapfest KC had at QB since Green, but heâs not elite (i.e.Montana or Brady). And Iâm afraid with that defense thatâs what youâd need. I wouldâve been shocked if KC wouldâve won with the D on the field, the O had to close and they couldnât. Itâs just sad to watch - itâs always one unit or the other O or D thatâs inept.
@wissox I think the Astros did have the best record in the AL for a big chunk of true season, but Cleveland was white hot late.
The Defense was terrible last night. Phillip Gaines is horrible. I would be able to complete a pass against his sorry coverage. But Alex lost the game when he couldnât engineer a drive to eat up the clock.
Iâm still cheesed at the ending of the Oakland KC game.
