Calipari Out • Apr 08, 2024 12:22 PM

Later Kentucky, hello Arkansas!

I’m curious to see who Kentucky hires. With a poor hire I would not want to continue any on going series with UK (champions classic or whatever it’s called, I believe the Big12 SEC challenge is over and if so it ended just in time). With the right hire I’d love to continue playing Kentucky regularly.

Is KU recruiting Johnell Davis? Seems like the team could use another 2 guard.

@approxinfinity I am no Lebron James fan, however I was really impressed with how he is handling any questions regarding Bronny’s transfer. Lebron said (I’m paraphrasing) Bronny has a difficult decision to make and that he would support him in whatever he chose. He sounds supportive and not at all like a Lavar Ball type. I don’t think Lebron would be a problem, but his celebrity might.

Edey is facing the same challenges that Furphy has in regards to very limited access to NIL money due to F1 status. I do not feel as though Edey should complain about lost earnings as he decided to return to college ball, when he would have been drafted last season and really did nothing to improve his drafts stock by returning to school.

FWIW - CBS has Zeke Mayo at #3 and Kugel at #43 currently.

Really need another RB with some pop, maybe a rookie. Clyde is ok for the 3rd option - fair blocker for someone so small, catches the ball well, slow runner, that can’t power for a yard though. I would like to see a bruiser to compliment Pacheco - perhaps that rugby guy will show out, but I think he’s know for being fast.

Carson Wentz replaces Blaine Gabbert as the backup QB. Solid move. Gabbert threw too many picks to be a dependable backup.

@rockchalkjayhawk I believe it was reported that he was wearing the red bandana thing and the black shirt at the bowling alley earlier in the day. That dude in the white shirt is huge - looks like a football player, but Rice isn’t that big.

Hopefully this gets resolved today. Thankfully no one was seriously hurt.

@dylans Not me - I copied and pasted from another chat room. Take it for what it’s worth.

——————————

Ok… just got off the phone with my brother and he works in Houston and Dallas with us both being attorneys. Yeah a family of all attorneys!

Soooo… with up to $200 worth of property damage before leaving the scene, they have committed a Class C misdemeanor.

maximum fine of $500
No jail time

An accident that results in more than $200 worth of damages is a Class B misdemeanor, which is

maximum fine of $2,000
maximum jail sentence of 180 days

Now this gets tricky…

More serious the accident was, the stricter the penalties for leaving the scene. A hit&run involving a “serious injury” classifies as a 3rd degree felony.

maximum fine of $10,000
prison sentence from 2 to 10 years

Finally, leaving the scene of a fatal accident is a 2nd degree felony or man slaughter.

Minimum fine of $10,000
and a prison sentence from 5 to 20 years

Now there were minimum injuries but whoever was involved with be hit with civil lawsuits of course. We both can see pleading down if the DA racks up a bunch of charges. Hopefully reckless driving and possible street racing. But who knows now.

Doesn’t look too terrible. However running from the scene of an accident where an injury occurs is a felony in Texas. - I’ll try to find more precise info on that, but basically the worse someone is hurt the worse the penalty, but even minor injuries can incur a couple year jail sentence if you run.

2024 NFL Offseason - FAs, Trades, Draft • Mar 31, 2024 01:32 PM

The Chiefs may need to draft a WR with their first pick of Rashee Rice is going to be unavailable. (Rice is wanted in connection to a wreck in Dallas.) Probably better secure one of the FA OTs that are available for draft flexibility.

@DCHawker If KU is having an off year, the Big12 won’t do squat in the tournament. Next year might be different with Arizona in conference (they’ve already flamed out too though) as I’m not sure Houston or Baylor will push KU long term.

From Fort Myers, Florida, Wesley was a two-time Consensus All-American at Kansas in 1965 and 1966. Wesley, who stood 6-foot, 11-inches, was also a two-time All-Big Eight selection following his junior and senior seasons. Wesley’s career average of 19.3 points per game ranks in the top 10 on the KU all-time scoring average list and his 1,315 career points are 33rd. He averaged over 20 points in his junior and senior seasons.

Speaking of flopping did anyone notice that Kevin kept begging for calls all year long? Instead of hustling back on D or going for the loose ball he would throw his arms up and look at the ref with a disgusted look - every time there was contact it seemed. That attitude bothered me. Fouled or not if you don’t hear the whistle go hard.

Zigging the Zags • Mar 27, 2024 01:13 PM

This was KU’s worst record/season since 1989. There were only 2 big12 teams with records better than KU this season. We are so fortunate to enjoy this era of KU basketball.

@DanR Or some could say they earned the advantage by performing better all season. Imagine KU’s record if the men’s games were played at home up to the elite 8!

Other bball games • Mar 27, 2024 01:02 PM

I have a hard time finding injustice in leaving out teams that don’t have a chance to win it all. I’d be fine with a 32 team field. Actually I think I’d prefer a 32 team field - the tournament would be higher quality games across the board, even when upsets happen you would still end up with a decent matchup. Also the regular season would be much more important, winning the conference becomes very valuable.

I don’t watch minor league sports. Hopefully college basketball continues to hold my attention. 2020 regular season was the peak of my fandom and the 2020 post season was potentially the beginning of the end. Or just the beginning of a new chapter.

What about 2020? • Mar 26, 2024 03:12 PM

@approxinfinity Wasn’t this always the debate? Conference champs vs National Champs. Some feel you can only win one or the other. That’s a weird position to me. I’d think conference champions were by far the bulk of the ncaa champs.

What about 2020? • Mar 26, 2024 01:27 PM

Let them talk. They clearly don’t know the details. That 2021 roster was trash. The 2023 roster was too thin after injuries and other exits. That’s recruiting not coaching and at least a portion of those recruiting issues from 2021 directly led to a championship in 2022. Can’t win them all or it would be boring.

2023-2024 Statistics • Mar 25, 2024 05:43 PM

They didn’t become what you see today until they were upper class men. Something they didn’t achieve at KU, because of the transfer. Maybe the transfer allowed them to grow - I don’t always like being the first employer of a young person as they have no comparable experience to draw upon. ie is this normal? Maybe not having the free out after the first transfer makes them buckle down. Or maybe it’s simply just getting more seasoned with age. And in several cases it was just a bad system fit.

At least that’s my guess.

The problem with honesty… • Mar 24, 2024 02:30 PM

I honestly don’t care where KU ends up. Most of the good rivalries have been broken up by TV money. - Not likely that KU ends up in the SEC with KSU to extend most of the relevant rivalries (KSU, MU, OU).

As for our current conference - I am sensing that Utah fans may be on the Missouri crappiness level though. Glad ISU is around to dislike healthily. KSU is always fun to beat. The rest can go pound sand. Most of the conference season this year felt like non-con. No history, no ties, no loyalty, just a bunch of nothing put together for TV and not the lifelong fans.

Of all the schools that could/have been in the same conference really only the old big8 schools appeal to me. I am well aware that we aren’t going back to those days. In the current state of conferences I guess KU is in the right spot for now.

What happened to the lineman who had the most penalties in the league? Can't recall his name, even though they called out his name enough on all those flags.

$24.7mil per year for the next 3 years - mostly guaranteed. Taylor will be anchoring the line for the next 3 years at a minimum, more if Veach extends his contract to spread some of the cap hit out later.

2024 NFL Offseason - FAs, Trades, Draft • Mar 24, 2024 02:04 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 It’s easy to forget when you win - illegal block and a false start against Miami. Illegal use of hands against Buffalo. Holding against Baltimore. I think one of those penalties was declined (the defensive version of a free play). He was very consistent in drawing penalties- at least he figured out where to line up. Taylor stinks when it comes to penalties, but his blocking is immaculate.

Reminds me of a certain “fools gold” comment and its meaning - shots falling covering poor decisions. This version is the inverse - shots not falling making everything look worse than it is.
