Did Nick get undercut? Couldnāt tell what happened.
BYU is small
In conference it could be easy to stop - you lose the return game - ie since KSU stormed the court against KU this year, next year KU gets two home games against KSU.
Personally I donāt get offended by it. Quite the opposite, I feel itās a sign of respect when they storm the court after beating KU, they expected to lose or they wouldnāt act a fool. Also after years of frustration itās cool to see students rejoice in the victory. I do think there needs to be some basic safety measures installed though. Give the players a chance to exit the playing field first namely.
I also kinda think Beinemy wore out his welcome with Pat too. Just my opinion from the outside looking in.
@nuleafjhawk I agree, but Reid has proven to be a extremely supportive man who seems to genuinely wish others success.
Danger Russ is maybe hanging out with BillB for a bit. Heās going to collect over 30 million from the Donks whether he plays or not. Just as well sit out until a starting QB spot opens up for a contender late in the season. Or maybe Denver decides to keep him given the abysmal options available to them.
@AsadZ Atlanta and Pittsburg would be pretty good fits. Maybe Dallas they need to dump Dakās 60million cap hit. Jj about Dallas.
Chicago is a ways off from being a contender, I get wanting to reset the cap clock if you arenāt 100% sold on him. Iām not a big Justin Fields believer or Chicago fan, but if you are Iād understand being concerned by this move. If the draft grade on Caleb Williams is correct then you canāt pass on the opportunity, even if it means you roster both players. The Bears have cap space to address their other issues.
@kjayhawks 16 interviews tells me he doesnāt interview well. The body of work is there. His personality is intense and may not be for everyone. The Chiefs said they have no spot on the staff for him, which Iām not 100% sure how to read - either they want him to flourish outside of Reidās shadow, or they donāt want him back.

@Texas-Hawk-10 I havenāt seen it yet but Clarkās was a total flop by her but if this truly happened and hurt him, that will spell trouble. Never know, Traylor got bumper for us at KSUCK and an ISU broke a leg one year to no changes.
So Clark knocked the wind out of herself? I'm sorry, but GTFO with that take. You don't knock the wind out of yourself flopping.
Not saying Clark flopped, but Bryce Thompson tore his labrum flopping. You can absolutely hurt yourself flopping.
Hope Jalon can find sustained health.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Probably because he admitted to nailing a 17 year old while he had chlamydia in the side yard before the gang rape (that he was not present for). Not guilt doesnāt equate to innocence unfortunately.
Kevin is able to function at a level higher than 99% of everyone, just not the level required of a collegiate basketball star. Pain limits function at some point no matter how tough you are.
I know a gal whoās femur punched thru her pelvis. She was mowing the yard a few weeks after surgery. Toughest human I know. Sheās all of 5ft tall and right around 60.
PG would be nice if Hunter is coming back. Developmental big, PG or a combo guard, and another wing maybe. In addition to what they have would be nice. Iām hoping if there is another impactful signing that it is someone who can handle the ball and shoot.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I read the article. It doesnāt account for the schedule. I havenāt delved into it as I donāt care about the nba.
@approxinfinity Give him some players. Never got a fair shake imo whatās his face from lsu never tried in Philly either. Thatās a player issue. Donāt know the rest of the roster though.
@rcjhdraft He outclasses our roster for sure. I canāt decide if the league is high on him, just high in general, or the talent pool absolutely sucks.
To be fair I didnāt think Gradey Dick was ready for the NBA and he was a lottery pick. Given I had only met him once, but he was very immature. Furphy handles himself better, but isnāt as good of a player.
lol. I responded to the article link, Iām guessing itās the wrong link after reading above. š¤¦āāļø
@approxinfinity I donāt see productive NBA careers for anyone on the current KU roster expect maybe Furphy could be a back half of the roster guy. There is no future mvp Embiid or even a late devolving all star like Wiggins, but I can see a Hinrich like career for Furphy.
Looking at that mock draft, I know nothing of any of the non-KU players (and the only KU guy I would take is Furphy in the second round or maybe late in the first) Is this a horrible draft or am I just that disconnected? Normally there are a few stars you hear about, this year itās just Zach Edey and he doesnāt do much for me. No Wemby in this draft and not many college stars, what gives? Does the marketing suck or is it a lack of elite play?
@wissox said in Power ranking for football/KU upcoming Season per 247:
Doubtful we'd be mentioned as a playoff team if it was still just a four team tournament.
Even then KU would have better odds than Oklahoma!
@BShark Iām with Self. The refs are allowing too much physicality in the Big12. Normally that would favor KU, but someone is going to get hurt.
@BeddieKU23 said in Other bball games:
He gets fouled a ton but he's getting a lot of benefits as well. It was pretty clear the ref's wanted that game tight late which they got but Ohio State made their FT's late to seal it
I don't know why refs hate us this year as a whole but they do. Hunter/Kev/KJ don't get nearly the favorable whistle others do
My physical therapist (small shoulder injury) is an OU fan, she claims KU gets all the calls at home. I said thatās the home whistle that any team gets with a good crowd. - that was Friday. She cancelled our Wednesday appointment, Iām curious why. lol
@BeddieKU23 No margin for error is right.
One thing this team has done, that those other teams that flamed out early didnāt do, was string together 6 wins in a row during the season. This team can get cooking, but can easily flame out too. If they make the final four watch out! If they lose early itās not unexpected either. Very high ceiling and pretty low floor.
@wissox I had no idea the coach could steal the ball. Gotta start watching out for Shaka when we play them, damn that 6th defender.
McCullar canāt hit a free throw in the second half of a game due to no legs between fatigue and injury. KJ is KU's most aggressive player and while his free throw shot has improved, itās still not good. Hunter doesnāt bang to get freebies. Dejuan avoids contact, because heās too short/not athletic enough to finish thru it. Furphy is a spot shooter - not many opportunities there. No one else plays enough minutes to swing the narrative.
Nick Timberlake looks the part - he is quick and can handle the ball well. His defense is wretched though, he constantly leaves the corner three open. If Nick could buy in more on defense it would make him more playable. DeJuan needs someone to take the ball handling duties from time to time - Elmarko is too offensively challenged to play much right now, but looks fine in short spurts. Roster construction is what it is given the circumstances - no depth again.
@kjayhawks said in The Boys Are Back vs OU:
KJ fine in the second half IMO had 9 points, 3 boards and 2 assists.
That stat line shocks me. He was grabbing his shorts most of the second half, completely gassed.
Swept the Oklahoma road trip. Now letās win in another state!
Nothing lol
Kevin needs to stop talking to refs and begging for calls. He just needs to shut up and play!
@kjayhawks making shots is what this team struggles with in long stretches. Defense is good to excellent, but the o is horrendous to amazing. Jenkel and Hyde
Jump bear is lame. Stop it Fran.
14-2 on free throw attempts. Need to be more aggressive. OU is dictating pace
Hunter, Kevin, and DeJuan are all slow players. It is what it is.
Need another combo guard next year.
Elmarko canāt even give DeJuan a breather. Ugg
I wish this was Harrisā real senior year. Iād like to see some urgency in both Harrisā play and Selfās pg recruiting.
@KirkIsMyHinrich said in The Boys Are Back vs OU:
Whistle sucks
Weird for sure. Foul count 4-0 with two blown goal tend calls and no way to fix the second one.
Is this common core math? Somehow 7-4 became 5-10.
@rockchalkjayhawk Picking up his rights or whatever they call it sounds promising. At least they can franchise tag him. Iām not going to hold drunk parade Chris Jones at his word, but I really hope both sides can come to an agreement they can live with. - both sides are showing interest. Thatās fantastic!
Womenās basketball wasnāt an ncaa sport until the ā80s!!! Ridiculous
Pollard is getting his heart right now!!!
@nuleafjhawk Because he is a jackass. Everting was harder in my day. Nothing you do will ever be as good or as difficult as what I had to over come. Blah blah blah. Conceited I suppose.
@wissox Tom Brady said itās easier to win a Super Bowl now than when he played played. (2 years ago)š
@wissox said in oh NO - -NCAA Basketball tourney expansion. Say it isn't so:
@jayballer67 One of the first wrong moves? Isn't he pushing for a Las Vegas Big 12 tournament?
He is a fool if so. Weāve seen what happens to attendance if you move it out of KC.
I realize this is a national talking point, but it is to distract from the real issue. The lowest murder rates are from demographics that have 2 parents, the same people that finish school and get better jobs.
Without assault weapons nothing would have changed about the Chiefs parade. The minors illegally possess the handguns they used. No amount of new laws will keep guns out of the hands of criminals. You can print a single use gun on a 3D printer. Assault weapons are so infrequently used in these attacks, yet that is what everyone latches on to as the thing that if we ban it will save America. It wonāt change a single thing. The under lying problem of a lack of respect for life is the issue. What happened to love thy neighbor? Itās the cowards that choose to hid behind violence that are the issue. Banning guns wonāt change a thing. There were something like 5 people on the earth when Cain killed his brother, he didnāt need an assault rifle to kill 20% of the world population.
Higher body counts when assault weapons are used usually point to intent and arenāt the result of stray bullets like at the Chiefs parade. Bringing a gun to a parade is the issue. What the fuck is that about?
edit it is being reported than an assault rifle was used by at least one.
@wissox I think we all have been touched in some way by a similar loss.
@nuleafjhawk Lol I donāt even own a gun. Donāt like to hunt. But disarming the people has never led to good things.
@wissox - my brother was murdered by a car. The driver has shitty parents and borderline personality disorder. I donāt blame the car. One of my good friends growing up was murdered by a gunshot to the back of his head while driving. I blame meth not guns for that one. I had a friend blow his brains out after his girlfriend overdosed on his acid. I blame drugs and social pressures and internal strife created by the adoption process for that teenage suicide. Misplaced blame only creates a new issue. Itās easy to say take away the guns. Then it will be something else that needs taken away and another freedoms and then something else, because the root cause is being ignored. - from my viewpoint itās a lack of morality, personal accountability and fortitude coupled with an external pressure such as envy, anger issues, undiagnosed mental disorders, greed, drugs, alcohol, debt, etc.
I hate that any of this happened, but there is no easy solution like take away the guns.
Instead of celebrating a champion we are discussing those spoiled brats.
@nuleafjhawk said in Chiefs season long game thread:
@dylans Murders are not mass shootings. We are far and away the "leader" in this category.
Proving the point that people will get it done one way or another. I mean people turned paraglides into assault weapons. Ban all rocks to prevent stoning. Bad people are the problem not objects. More folks have been killed by rhetoric than anything else, ban speech.
It is a problem, but the root cause is still the same. People.
