@nuleafjhawk said in Chiefs season long game thread:

This is so upsetting. I have a LOT of family and friends in Kansas City. Including my son. Thank God he's not a sports fan and would never attend something like this.

I am incensed that our jellyfish government allows this bullshit to go on. There's a mass shooting in this country weekly it seems.

This crap doesn't happen in other countries. At least not on the scale that happens here. I wouldn't give a shit if they melted down every automatic weapon on the planet. They can start tomorrow.

That would not fix the issue. If it was full automatic assault rifles and they intended to kill there would be considerably more dead. If I wanted to kill as many folks as possible to sew mayhem I would not use a gun, I’d use a spray drone with a chemical agent and wipe out tens of thousands at these events. For less than 100k you could easily wipe out a stadium of people. The issue isn’t the inert chunk of metal, it is the people - the bad actors. People killed and hurt other people for their own selfish reasons and until people start thinking and caring about others this will continue to happen. A million people there to have a good time and all it took was a few to ruin it for everyone.

As for this not happening in other countries. Wow what a wild misconception brought on by distance bias. The US averages 6 murders/100k people. Too much, but Jamaica averages over 50/100k. The places with the lowest reported rates are places with few of the freedoms we enjoy such as China or another reason for low murder rates like in Oceana is due to greatly underreporting murders for perception reasons.

Hyperbole spewed by our media and leadership in these moment is self serving and does nothing to address the issue of a complete lack of moral fiber in the people committing these crimes.

The KCPD and the locals that helped detain the shooters are amazing. There will always be bad people, but it’s great to know there are equally good people out there willing to risk their lives to protect others.

@AsadZ I don't know - how much are tickets to the FF?

They play those games in cavernous arenas, so surprisingly not too expensive. Unless you want to purchase close tickets - but as @wissox would tell you, just get in the building and look for unused seats on stubhub that are closer to the action.

Thankfully none of the tournament games are on an away court. Unfortunately none of them are in Allen Fieldhouse either. The games won’t be any more difficult than league games or KU’s non-conference schedule either for that matter. They will be battle tested and these bruises will be calluses by then. This is the hardening box. They will either emerge tougher or fall apart at the seems.

@FarmerJayhawk said in "Never Again" - HCBS:

And there were some things that fell through. Both Stanford guys wanted KU, but one got into grad school there (well done) and in the other case a current starter would’ve left had we taken him. That plus Udeh throwing a tantrum after saying he was staying then doing a 180. And we don’t need to rehash Terio since everyone agrees that was a major major screw up.

This team looks a hell of a lot different with Jones and Ingram playing alongside Hunter with KJ as the 6th man.

I’m happier with these results than winning every game with Morris.

KU vs Tech chat • Feb 13, 2024 07:33 PM

@rockchalkjayhawk To get his first tech on the year he said “unbelievable” and waved his hands dismissively at the ref. 🤷‍♂️ Last night he wanted tossed to make a point about the big 12 officiating allowing too much physicality. It’s hardly Bob Night tossing a chair on the court, more like Roy taking his jacket off.

2024 MLB Season • Feb 13, 2024 04:55 PM

@FarmerJayhawk Is that the old KC Star printing press location?

Boycotting "Big" Monday Games • Feb 13, 2024 04:51 PM

Last night is what it looks like when you feature a DII player in D1. The roster construction as it currently stands sucks, but there were some curveballs. Next year should be deeper, but much younger too. Youth creates a whole new set of issues.

Its hard to care about a game your players clearly would rather not play. We will be fine. Lets just leave these stupid tambourine rims in the rear view and burn the tape.

What’s with the microphone on the rim? Lame.

KU vs Tech chat • Feb 13, 2024 03:54 AM

I’d say featuring Timberlake on offense isn’t the answer. This team is super shallow. KJ needs to be more assertive.

KU vs Tech chat • Feb 13, 2024 02:44 AM

Chipped away at the lead after going ice cold. Keep it up guys.

Super Bowl • Feb 13, 2024 01:46 AM

@kjayhawks The Chargers are the defending offseason champs. 😂 they’ll get better with improved coaching, but their cap situation sucks.

Scott Drew has a mental block in Allen Fieldhouse.

McCullar out vs Baylor • Feb 11, 2024 01:51 AM

Bill is extremely unhappy with the mental errors it sounds.

Very sad news for Scott, his donor list is probably small with him being his size. They can’t put the heart of a 5’5 guy in him. It just doesn’t look or sound encouraging at this moment. One of the first KU guys I can remember watching.

Needs a donor over 6’1”. Sounds like he has time, but not too much. Hope a heart comes thru, but you know that it will have a tragic backstory as well.

Quick turn around on Harris’ bum ankle. Has me concerned.

That and it’s on the road. 2-4 so far. Would like to see some improvement there, but the walking wounded…

Nick shoots like he is the best option. Someone needs to open his eyes to what a good shot is. 3/4 a season on the bench hasn’t done it, so I’m not sure what will.

No Devonte Graham, Frank Mason run thru a brick wall and keep sprinting types. Hunter could not keep up anyway. It’s a great starting 5, but zero bench production is killer. The team is somehow just as thin as last season.

Scot pollard • Feb 08, 2024 06:19 PM

Prayers Pollard finds that donor.

KU vs Octagon of Tang Doom Game Chat. • Feb 08, 2024 05:25 PM

The Jayhawks are not road warriors, more like road tail. If you can’t beat a bad team on the road no matter how bad a few calls are then you won’t go far. They are pushing into giant wuss territory.

The book is pretty well written. They will win all the remaining home games. Win maybe one more on the road. Win two in the big 12 tournament before flaming out. Win 1-3 games in the NCAA with one of the second/fourth games catching them.

Hope an editor comes along and rewrites the script.

Other bball games • Feb 08, 2024 01:37 PM

@kjayhawks f that game. Refs just need to swallow the whistle so we can bitch about missed calls, but at least the play on the court decided the game.

Unleash the big gun... now! • Feb 08, 2024 01:34 PM

@drgnslayr Don’t miss open looks. Make free throws earlier when not gassed. Guard the hot hand. They just play like crap on the road. This team can beat any top 10 team at home and lose to the bottom teams of the big12 on the road. Yin and Yang.

KU vs Octagon of Tang Doom Game Chat. • Feb 08, 2024 01:33 PM

@wissox I don’t believe Kevin misses because of the lane violation. Just make the free throw and it removes the refs from the equation.

KU vs Octagon of Tang Doom Game Chat. • Feb 07, 2024 12:30 AM

Running clock walking the ball up the court down 4 with 3 to go rubs me the wrong way. But I like Harris. He is very steady and does a good job of setting his teammates up for success. Not to be undervalued, his defense is fantastic as well.

Unleash the big gun... now! • Feb 07, 2024 12:27 AM

@drgnslayr The worst part of that game for me was KU does not even really need an extra player for another point, just needed to make free throws.

The Furph • Feb 07, 2024 12:25 AM

@FarmerJayhawk Why can’t he get F1 status? Not sure of all the ins and outs.

KU vs Octagon of Tang Doom Game Chat. • Feb 06, 2024 02:52 PM

@kjayhawks when you are a one seed about every year by overachieving in the regular season it makes it impossible to reach fans unreasonable expectations in the post season. Calling for Bill’s head says more about those crybaby entitled piece of shit fans than it does Self.

The Furph • Feb 06, 2024 02:50 PM

@kjayhawks Ochai had 25 vs Texas in his first game, an NBA ready body and shot…and played 3 years. It seems the fans are quick to show guys the door.

Furphy has a good shot, but not elite like Dick. Furphy has good awareness on the offensive end and hustles for rebounds. His defense and body need work. Depending on offseason development I could see him being well positioned to enter the draft after his sophomore campaign.

It sounds good until you think about why the redshirt isn’t coming off.

Personal responsibility or winning. Pick one.

Already had our Arterio moment this year. That’s a difference maker for this team. Zach is Parker+ not Hunter lite. There is no savior in waiting. Gotta go to battle with the 8 we have. Nick and Elmarko need to step it up and Braun needs to play within himself.

That and Clemence has not been very good at basketball. If he was good all would’ve been forgiven a long time ago. Heck he probably would not have been in trouble if he was good enough to earn playing time, lack of court time seems to have been a large part of his attitude problem.

2024 MLB Season • Feb 06, 2024 02:36 PM

It appears they are just trying to get public support for a new downtown stadium. Once they get the tax dollars we shall see if ownership continues to spend money on the team.

KU vs Octagon of Tang Doom Game Chat. • Feb 06, 2024 02:34 PM

@kjayhawks Tang didn’t outcoach Bill. The wildcats game plan was to mug KU every time down the court while the refs only called it one way. The leg bar that kid put on KJ when tripping him up was pretty egregious- flagrant 1 type stuff that didn’t get called. If the refs clean up the game coaching could be seen, but that was a rock fight.

KSU fans suck, but their program is a big nothing burger. I think until they achieve some sort of relevance the rivalry will continue to be one sided with KU overlooking the mildcats and KSU absolutely hating KU for it. Forgot to load the wagon last night.
