@rockchalkjayhawk Veach doesn’t like to have glaring needs going into the draft, but the cap it pretty tight. Need to trade or sign Sneed and that would clarify the salary cap situation. There is about 30 million in wiggle room in Mahomes contract by converting salary to a roster bonus or some nonsense that spreads the cap hit out over multiple years. You eventually have to account for it though.

I really hope he’s ok. My shoulder has been messed up since October (should’ve let go of that dang gate…) with no visible tears. Might need the bursa sac scoped out - I’m no athlete so I’ll just deal with the pain for a few more months and see if it heals itself. ie the dumb I’m tough guy routine. - let it hurt for a year and get it scoped anyway instead of getting it done right away.
If Hunter can just recover with no surgery or long term issues…that would be amazing. It looked bad.
@rockchalkjayhawk 7.4mil in year one. 35 mil in year 2, 41 million in year 3. 12 million in dead cap if he’s cut after year 3. 30 million signing bonus is spread over all 5 years evenly and his salary varies from year to year. 31.8million average per year.

What I find funny is the amount of headspace KU owns in rival fan bases. I’ve been told about every KU loss by a rival fan - OU and KSU fans mostly, but I have not heard one thing about their wins. Sad, sad people. Can’t even enjoy their team’s victory as much as watching their rival lose. I’d say that’s the definition of a loser.

While I don’t particularly like the current state of a Wild West unregulated basketball, I’m glad basketball teams may have a way to fund NIL. The NCAA has screwed basketball over hardcore on revenue for decades.

Sean Payton looks pretty bad throwing Hackett under the bus the way he did. Now he’s cussing his QB out on the sideline and s-cans him in less than a year. I’m beginning to think Drew Brees made Payton look better at coaching than he would’ve looked elsewhere.

I’m guessing he meant an NIL deal is not covering the watches directly, JD is paying the income tax on the money that bought the gift.
KU was a 10 loss 2 seed in 2014 - bounced in second round by Stanford. No Embiid. Most losses I can remember a top 2 seeded KU team having.
Need Chris Jones to come to an agreement (or not) so Veach can move unencumbered in free agency (assuming he has a trade partner for Sneed). Cap space as is, is very tight and they still have key free agents - Gay, Tranquil, Danna, Jones! unsigned. The first shoe dropped with the tag on Sneed. Hope that signals a deal with Jones is eminent.

I dunno. That 2020 team was one of my favorites. I still feel hollow about the sport. 2022 wasn’t even that great for me following the huge disappointment that was 2020.
While others are extremely pissed that KU is only a top 15 team, I’m pretty damn happy they’re doing this well with no horrendous baggage on the team. Winning with Arterio would just be gross. I’m glad I don’t have to rectify those feelings - good because KU won, bad because they won with no morals.
Maybe if 2020 didn’t happen I would be less apathetic, but I’m not going to get too worked up over a few losses. This team doesn’t have “it” so why put those expectations on them? Enjoy the ride.

I don’t miss Hudy. She added too much bulk and the players lost explosion. The current players are the issue, not the trainers.
