Boils down to if CB returns or not.

I just don't see that happening do you? - -Cb returning looks like he gonna be 1st round late and just really don't see his positioning going up much further.- - Plus he takes the chance - - he comes back - -and has a worse season and his stock drops. I just think he stays in the draft

My Packers - gonna be interesting • May 10, 2022 04:11 PM

Well Following my Packers got graded out pretty well in the draft with a B. - There is no body that's going to replace Devonte Adams that's for sure best receiver in the League. Messed up he left, but decent in the draft the 1st Wr they pick was in 2nd round and people saying they got a steal he was still there- dude ran a 4.36

Just a tidbit here also, even I know rally means nothing but thy got a guy he was a UFDA came out of College of Indiana I think they said has lots of work to do - not sure he will even make roster - BUT the guy is a Mountain 6"9 & 380 pounds Holy Smokes just thought that was interesting - HUGE

2022 Crootin • May 09, 2022 08:00 PM

Well see we got commitment from a DE. - -Davion Westmoreland 6.3 240- - Seems like good size decent size for DE - out of Hutch Juco - - 11.5 TFL'S - -& 6.5 Sacks - -not sneezing at that. 3 yrs of eligibility and a red shirt. - -Famer ? - - thoughts ? decent or no ?

Also Farmer - - the 3 big portal studs on campus for visit now. - - Bunkley - Shelton from Arizona State - - - Grant from Purdue ( would love to land him ) - -& Kaine Williams from Alabama - -Again Farmer thoughts ? - - Do we have any shot of any of these three ?

Embiid • May 09, 2022 04:31 PM

Watched the game, was Awesome - Philly needed that - -Joe Joe strong 24 points - -but actually it was Harden that carried them last night- hit some HUGE shots late.

Joe Joe Monster in your face block against Markieff last night to former Jayhawks going at one another. - -Didn't realize there was so many former BIG 12 players in this playoff. - -Joe ,Joe - - Niang - - P J Tucker & another for Miami I think I counted those 4

We did get Neal last year, if we can get some results on the field maybe snag a player or two from in state it will come

@kuballin10 said in 2022 Transfer Portal Thread:

@jayballer67 I agree not feeling confident on Hunter which sucks as he can help us the most.

Hunter
Council
Mosley
Welch

Bigs wise we seem set unless it’s some stuff Self grabs late but doesn’t look that way.

Juan
Rice
Mosley/Council (doubt we land both)
Wilson
Big Z

Bench:
Bobby
Dick
Udeh/KJ/Zuby - whoever is playing well

Thoughts?

Would pretty much agree. - - Between Council / Mosley pretty much a wash - - one offense - -the other more defense , kind of like Council because I think with what we got we can manage the offense , where as always good to have better defensive players. Coach loves the guys that's willing to play hard at that end of the floor.

Again I think you could go either way with Dick/Rice in the line up either way is ok. Dick again might be a better offensive player - -Rice might be more physical type I can't really say I would have a problem either way.

I think your right pretty spot on , I think it will be hard to keep Zach out oft the line up. He showed flashes l ast year. One thing is we gonna be young with our big's KJ , Udeh , Zuby , Zach - that could be interesting who really seperated them selves for that starting spot. - What I have heard about Udeh the kid is gonna be pretty dam good in time - -raw right now but other aspects he has is sweet

2022 Transfer Portal Thread • May 07, 2022 01:36 AM

Well from what I just read it's lookig like a little less likely Hunter lands here. - They had a article on remaining portal players and most likely landing spot. - Louisville I guess is in on hi pretty good , and Tennessee in pretty deep to. They did say that there were a few that thought KU might still be able to make a run on him. - -He is visiting Gonzaga this weekend.

Bette chance with Mosley talk about him knowing Braun and friends with Juan Said to keep an eye on KU - -however said there were there teams still trying to make a run on him

2023 Recruiting • May 06, 2022 01:46 PM

Hmm, found this interesting . Just read where KU was the latest to offer this week , offered Xavier Brooks a 6"11 guy Currently ranked # 91 in the Nation out of Indianapolis Indiana BUT huge jump in the rankings expected when the updated come out at the end of the Month.

During the 2 live periods in April has been very impressive/Coach's impressed with the Combo of his size , length , ball handling ability , shot blocking , and the ability to score in the post or from deep. He can shoot the three , finish the lob , swat shots , and is a WELL ABOVE ball handler.

He now has over 20 offers , KU just offered this week , - -he has the entire Big Ten chasing hard after him - - Norte Dame , chasing hard after him - -& Duke and Kentucky now showing more interest.

Xavier had this to say about the KU offer : He was excited to get the offer , like he is with all offers, BUT he has been watching KU for awhile as he use to watch guys like Wiggins & Embiid , Xavier said it meant a lot to me they offered me a Scholarship and they are taking the time to really recruit me.

Just have to wonder - thought we were set with our 2023 Big's , yet here we are offering another 2023 big guy how serious who knows - sounds pretty decent , I think this is just another example of players getting recruited over. - -If they are really serious somebody else gonna be shown the door

Most of all like Coach has said - really doesn’t matter who starts the game - - it’s who is on the floor at the end of the game

I've never really understood this. It is who starts because the hope is that you have all your walk-ons in at the end of the game thanks to a blowout victory.

And yet at the end of the Championship game who was on the floor with 4.3 seconds to go in the game and KU up by 3 and North Carol had the ball with a chance to tie the game ? - -A freshman who had hardly played a whiff and there he is true maybe not guarding the main targeted guy for NC - -BUT a guy who Coach Self trusted more defensively -K J Adams - - Thats where Coach says it doesn't matter who starts

@benshawks08 said in Next Year's Team Thread:

@jayballer67 Yeah. I honestly think these kids are smart for staying. It’s been made very clear self values experience. Any experience is good but experience in his system is extra valuable. And a lot of these fringe starters/likely bench players don’t have to be the next ochai to get minutes. They need to be the next Mitch. The next Harris. Self doesn’t decide who plays based on talent. It drives many fans crazy and drove some folks off the message board for good but he values hard work, defense, and reliability. He plays the guys he trusts. They all just watched Dejuan Harris not even really be challenged for his starting spot by the best transfer in the portal. Pre season player of the year sat the bench behind a dude with a mediocre jumper and a can do attitude. So who is self going to feel he can rely on more next year? Isiah Mosley or joe yesefu? A bunch of freshmen or the guys who pushed a team all the way to the championship? We can (and will) predict lineups all summer long but when late night hits, self will be looking for one thing as the season gets started. Who can he TRUST? Who knows the plays, schemes, etc. Who can execute? Who will give that extra effort? Who will rise to the occasion and take a big shot? And yeah, any of these guys could see there way into a role as the next Mitch light foot, landen Lucas, Brady Morningstar, jamari traylor, Christian moody, etc.

Exactly. like you say Coach looks for that effort - -someone willing to play BOTH ends of the floor, someone maybe not quite as talented but a guy who isn't afraid to dive on the floor, for loose balls a guy that isn't a black hole , a guy who is wiling to step in and take a charge , a guy who is willing to give his body up to possible injury to dive out of bounds to save that loose ball from going out of bounds . The thing is we all know or have known for a long time if you can't do these things but most of all if you can't play defense or just so so then your gonna have a really nice seat to watch the action right next to Coach

Most of all like Coach has said - really doesn't matter who starts the game - - it's who is on the floor at the end of the game, it shows who he trusts and if these guys can realize that and just play their role - - were fine

Also saw they had Christan as the # 25th pick going to the Spurs - - Awesome

That's awesome! Hopefully that holds. It really speaks to Och's work ethic and how much he improved during his time here. Also, what a cool story for a Kansas kid out of Burlington who lead his HS team to 3 straight state titles, a natty, and now he gets a chance at the league. So jealous (I'll just blame my bad jump shot on being 5'8" 165, right?....right...?)!

Definitely gonna miss both of these guys.
Especially Christian's fire. I loved seeing that from a Kansas kid!

Boy your right for sure. Och did develop , took his game up another notch again I mean afte watching him knew he was gonna be a good player but in total honesty It is beyond my wildest dreams that he would eve be a 1st round pick in the draft.

Now Christan - - Christan the kid is a whole different story lol. I'm lie you I think anyways at least in some aaspect. - I've made mention of this before here and have no problem saying again I like you love Christan's fire as you say. See I love seeing a kid that shows some emotion, some fire , Cockiness ? -Maybe he does/is Cocky - - so what ? I LOVE a kid that has that edge. There were times when Christan would flush maybe even on someone and he would have no problem letting them know- so what ? - -thats the kids fire as you say his competitiveness coming out in him - - -His well shown where he flash's the THREE and thumps his chest looks over and says " BITCH " , the kids juices are flowing his fire for the game - - his fire for winning - -his fire for making that big play - I love that. Is that agorrance? Maybe , but thing is if you can throw shade -and you got game to back it up - - - -GOOD FOR YOU - -get some Big boy.

There is people here that don't like that - -don't think KU kids should do that - -they say it's lack of class - -you know what I say that's BS - it's a kid that wears his love of the game on his sleeve, I'll take Christan's approach , his cockiness , his edge , his competitiveness ANY DAY ALL DAY LONG over so many of these players that make a big shot at a crucial time or a big defensive stand and simply show NO emtion and go the other way like a zombie - I'm like you I think to some part anyways -I LOVE CHRISTANS FIRE and am gonna miss it for sure.

I'm sorry I've been here awhile but this is the 1st I've seen you - -but really glad your here good to see ya. Always love hearing others views whether you agree or disagree. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

So if I understand this right , it's to late now isn't it from anymore kids to enter the portal now cause the deadline has passed and the 48 hours has also passed. Meaning that Joe - - -Sam And Cam would all have to sit out a year if they were to transfer now -right ? - If that's the case I wouldn't look for them to transfer with the NIL deals -kinda a screwy mess

Read off CBS Sports and I know doesn't really mean much at this point , but this is one of quite a few doing now and it was CBS way to Early rankings for the upcoming year. - It had us at # 8 , but also said the complexion of KU would totally change if EITHER Jalen or Christan returned , so I guess meaning we would go up with them returning - also said the look of Ku was goling to be toatlly different this coming year but that KU would still have the Talent that is totally off the charts - I'm ready - -throw it up boys lol

Read a CBS sports article listing and talking about the final transfer time to enter the portal had passed and the 48 hour window had passed this is what they said:

They have Tyrese Hunter as the # 2 in the portal and the top Guard in the portal. - Saying he was improving on his shooting , distrubutes really well and just an absolute menace on defense.

Had Mosley as the # 9 player in the Portal saying he was an instant bucket saying sometimes you might question his shot selection but if they are dropping - - -scored over 20 in 17 games this past Season & scored in the 40's in two games - - instant offense

Alabama , Auburn , Baylor , Gonzaga , Seton Hall , Texas , UCLA , & KU as his final 8. -what ever happened to the final 3 - now it's final 10 - - -8 - - -5 lol - well we made the final 8. - He is rnaked by 247 sports as the 23 rd ranked player we shall see

I don't think that is a fair comment. 2020 was a definite NC team. Plus, one guy doesn't make a NC. I would gobble up another Marcus all day long. Both of these guys are great defenders, but have slightly different assets.

Who do we have now as a stopper?

My statement holds true. I remember singularly defending Marcus through much of his KU career.

@bskeet I'm with you on that. Feel like he has a chance to be REAL good at KU and still has a few years left, no? Seemed to me he was just behind Juan and healthy Remy for PG minutes. He's now had a year in the system. I'd be surprised if he is in any way ASKED to leave. Think it will be a real battle with him and Bobby next year for that second little guard spot that sometimes plays with Harris and sometimes in place of. And I know we have some strong freshmen wing/guard types coming in but I never trust a freshman to get minutes until I see them play against real d1 competition.

Never say Never

I keep thinking back to that Iowa State game at Ames... which at the time I thought was a victory over a much lesser team. But ISU's end of the season validated how phenomenal that win was without Ochai.

Yesufu's line: 23 Min, 5 Reb, 4 Assists, 7 points in a 70-61 win.

Not too shabby for right off the bench. The dude was ready.
