He for sure is not going to improve his NBA stock , and like they were talking on the show today - -he is ready to start making money - whether somebody gives him a shot just off being 7 ft and 280 lbs - - -the way he has been injury prone - -hell he isn't going to come back and risk getting hurt again - -maybe an injury that could keep him from playing NBA - -OR oversea's either one an make nothing. - -99% - -to 1% he won't be back.

I've moved on from the problems and faults of the Beaty era and very much look forward to anything new and better under Coach Miles. KU football was competitive against OU and Texas at the end of last year and I would hope our players will use those games as a springboard for this year. Don't we all agree that the offensive line was coming together from mid-season on? It was a work in progress all year, but I saw substantial improvement and I believe that will continue this year. This team just has a lot of unknowns, like QB, Pooka's return, defensive line, etc. But, I'm sure as hell interested again and have great hope for more success this year.

I'll agree with you.- -From about mid season on the O- Line seem to show improvement , figure this year will continue to get stronger - -hoping to be able to see multiple games this year - -hopefully at least be competitive - -which I believe we will.

Here's his comments on KU, the coaches and what role the staff has been selling him on. Self coached Matthew last summer with Team USA, the same team that had Quentin Grimes.

“I like their atmosphere". “I’m really close with their coaching staff, just what they do every day and their academics person is really close with the guys, even if they go to the NBA. So it’s more of a family there.”

To that end, Hurt told Eric Bossi, that the family environment at KU extends beyond the players and their bond together.

“Their coaching staff’s really close,” Hurt told Bossi, noting that KU assistant Jerrance Howard was the lead recruiter for his services. “Me and him are pretty close.”

As for how Self, Howard and the rest of the KU program were trying to pitch him on picking Kansas, Hurt said KU’s willingness to let him play on the perimeter, and play to his strengths, was something that stood out.

“A combination of like Andrew Wiggins, Kelly Oubre, Josh Jackson, taller guys that can put the ball on the floor,” he said when asked how KU might use him. “That’s their message. They think they can train me to be a big guard and those are the three guys in the NBA that they want me to look at right now and how they did at Kansas.”
