@DanR agreed, the worst TV broadcast Iāve seen in years period.
Most of Grimes issues here last year were him not putting forth any effort whatsoever. He maybe the laziest player to wear a KU uniform. Maybe he was home sick or something but Self surprising still started him all year and I think tried to get him going in anyway. He just wasnāt a good fit and his Daddy complaining constantly behind the scenes didnāt help him any. Heāll be a solid player for Houston playing against mediocre teams in half full venues most the time where there is minimal pressure. I donāt think heās a bad kid or anything but you get out what you put in and after watching him in Houston, heās putting more in. I think we all agree regardless of his daddies screams, he aināt no NBA player.
K state is playing Mississippi state on the U right now in New York and IDK if there is 20 people there lol.
I hear he has been shooting them well in practice, he just has to transition that into the game. I never liked staring at the rim myself, I have a routine that still works well, last time I shot l was 7 for 10. I shot 87% from the line in high school. Didnāt shot a ton of them, but just do the same routine and itās muscle memory.
Baylor hangs on 53-52
Baylor trying to give it away late, if I remember right we led the whole game one time down there and gave it away late.
@HighEliteMajor heās the next big thing in coaching if he stays around.
Baylor in a tight one against butler, great defensive battle.
Colorado not looking good at all here early in the second, would be a bad loss at home. UNI is 8-1 but only played WV and South Carolina, losing to WV.
Great game by Doke, Dot and Ochai. Iāll be expecting more boards from Doke in the future, no reason why he canāt average 10 or 12. The main difference tonight is he actually went after them on both ends repeatedly, didnāt just wait and hope it came his way.
Thanks to Teahan we cover and win the second half! I wouldāve put him in sooner
In a game like this a guy just wants to go win the second half and get the walk-ons in. Not sure we will see them outside of a few seconds.
This is one ugly ugly half of basketball by the boys in white. Nothing outside of Ochais dunk, no energy and little effort.
@DanR no one believes you lol
DAMN sport center #1
I thought we may get to 60 in the first but took over 5 minutes in the second to..
The bench looked a little lost but thatās why we need this game.
Different teams match up differently especially in basketball. One at time Milwaukee is next in line.
@HighEliteMajor that I can get behindšš. @jayballer73 Several coaches stay in college. I bet Coach K, Jim Behiem(spelled wrong), Bob Knight and several others have had talks with teams at the next level. I think Self likes having more power over his players and what goes on in the program. They both have pro and con but I feel like the players have more power than the coaches in the NBA.
@Crimsonorblue22 they wouldāve called several roughing the passers tonight if the roles were reversed. The Patriots can bitch about it when itās costs them playoff games, they have been the beneficiary of dozens of flat out wrong and questionable calls for the past decade plus.
I cheer for the chiefs but I donāt get crazy like I do over the Jayhawks.
@DanR 100% agree, that crew was terrible but they definitely missed calls that aided the Patriots as well as the Chiefs.

How I feel about it, they literally wrote a new rule to cover a blown call for the Patriots once upon a time then add in phantom blows to the head from a year ago. If they lose 10 games because of bad officiating, then they can complain.
@KirkIsMyHinrich youāre higher than a kite if you think that last play for the pats was a PI. If that was a PI they missed about 25 more on each team. The only real call the chiefs got was the outta bounds at the 3. Mahomes got late hit atleast twice with no flag.
@drgnslayr one could argue that last night was our best defensive performance of the year against a ranked team no less. We held them to 30% from the floor and 20% from 3. Now yes some of those numbers will be guys just missing but does anyone remember back around the title year when we would be in the top 5 in FG% defense year in and out. We havenāt been all that great defensively since then IMO and I still believe defensive wins championships. Since KenPom started rating defensive efficiency, no team outside of the top 20 in that category has won a championship. Which of course includes our 2008 team. I think this team has pieces to be very good on that end of the floor. Some may disagree but Marcus Garrett is the best defender we have ever had.
@approxinfinity the frustrating thing was how we later got called for one on a 3 that was a flop lol. I like how they are trying to do stuff about flops but good golly letās make sure itās a flop.
Watching a little bit of the mildcat game, it always amazes me how their players and fans wine about an obvious foul smh, believe it or not you canāt hit someone in the head. Lol
@BeddieKU23 we know they will play lights out against us in that crap hole,
Defense looked much better that half, maybe Bill saw my post about basic defense. Offensively if we ever figure out how not to turn it over 15+ times a game and actually hit wide open 3s, we will be in good shape.
Oklahoma wins in overtime 30-23, they really kept Baylor in it with turnovers and questionable play calling. Iād say itās on LSU to get the conference back into the playoffs for a third straight year.
Oregon spanked the day lights outta Utah last night (as expected, Utah has zero good wins). That gives the winner of the B12 title game a great shot if LSU takes care of Georgia. I think Iād rather see Baylor get in, OU has had their chances and missed. The committee is a little strange this year and seems to heavily favor Ohio State tho LSU has much better wins. Michigan I think is the biggest question mark, how they are in the top 20 let alone the top 15 after getting hammered by OSU is mind boggling. Other than it makes OSU look better and prevents them from falling outta the top 4 even with a loss to Wisconsin.
I think itās been blown outta proportion at this but agree with @dylans Jackson is doing a splendid job, he is the issue more than the uniforms or his skin color. We as Americans have to stop alienating each other. I refuse to read any article that has someoneās skin color in the head line. Evil knows no bounds and doesnāt discriminate on race, religion or occupation. Iām gonna sit on my couch like baby yoda, watch Jackson and Mahomes all while not giving a flying f**k what they look like put on a show. Because they are most exciting players in the league right now.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I agree, the B12 is one of the toughest leagues because it usually has no bottom and is a double round robin. There wonāt be a team that doesnāt win at least 5 conference games.
@approxinfinity heās finding himself again in Houston. The kings are such a crap organization to be drafted into.
@HighEliteMajor it does change a little bit but thatās where working on rotating and knowing your opponent come into play. Iād never go under a screen on Devonte or Svi but Iād do it everytime on Russell Robinson or Tyshawn Taylor. Guarding the 3 point line can be done without giving up tons of dribble drive you just have to be a good defensive team (watch Virginia most years).
@KirkIsMyHinrich surely thatās a given lol
This team continues to be ungodly terrible fundamentally on both sides. The offense turns the ball over repeatedly on fast breaks because we donāt make the easy pass or have any spacing. Being a defensive minded coach as I am, Iāve wanted to pull my hair out over the past five years. Stuff that I was teaching middle schoolers when I was coaching (and was taught while playing at that age). Defensive rules #1 stop the ball, #2 always see ball and man, #3 be between man and hoop, #4 never go under a screen on a shooter and #5 locate box out. I feel like we do zero of those well as a team. If you do those simple things that havenāt changed in 40+ years you have a chance to succeed. Thatās before you even go thru shell drills for help defense.
Good for KJ and Carlton
Great game by the chiefs defensively, amazing what you can do when healthy. 6 INTs in 2 weeks is what this team needs. Iām not sure how sold on them I am going forward but hey a positive step is good to see after the last few seasons. Iām sure the nasty wind thatās blowing my Christmas decorations effected Mahomes but he just hasnāt looked better than average since the first raider game to me. That has to change in the postseason for them to go anywhere.
I like KenPom but I think basketball is the hardest sport to rank. KenPom gave Stephen F Austin a .2 chance to beat Dook. I picked a bracket of off KenPom and it was the worst Iāve ever filled outta lol. I think I prefer old school RPI at this point.
A complete disaster this afternoon in Lawrence. I didnāt watch, I was busy watching my high school and my nephew win the first state title in school history!!!
@dylans haha that was intentionally missed spelled
Wait a minute friends, you may have just unlocked what is troubling Allen. Maybe he took the lyrics to a song about tripin and thought it was meant literally. If his coach plays TSwift heāll be more concerned about fixing broken hearts.
Kansas State loses to Bradley by 13 to finish last in the Fort Myers tip off in a 4 team tournament that Pittsburgh ended up winning. Not a good look after surviving some home scares against typewriter repair schools and falling to 4-2 on the year. They pretty much have Sneed and Diarrhea.
Oklahoma State was victorious as underdogs against Syracuse. They improve to 6-0 against a fairly easy schedule but anytime the B12 beats the ACC it makes me smile. OSU is probably a team that battles for an NCAA birth.
West Virginia holds on against Wichita is not a State to improve to 6-0 as well. They have some good pieces like 6ā9 Oscar not even gonna try that last name, he finished with 19 points and 18 rebounds. Their schedule isnāt spectacular either but do own a win against Pittsburgh. They will likely be ranked Monday and push us a few times.
Iowa State falls to Michigan in the battle for Atlantis 83-76. Watched some this one and ISU is pretty typical ISU. They live and die by the three, just didnāt hit enough to win today. They has some talented older guys and some younger ones, they just donāt guard or play together at this point. The loss was their second (Oregon State) as they fell to 3-2 on the season. Iām starting to think Prohm isnāt all that great of a coach.
Thatās a wrap on todayās big 12 action. Obviously we all know what went down in Hawaii and with Jayhawks. Join in next week when my four year son will be my guest. Many rocks chalks and talks of chicken nuggets will be had š¤£.
Hopefully the guys are enjoying the time there. We donāt have a game til the 7th of December, it will be nice to get rest and time to improve.
Haha KSU got spanked by Bradley
Easily his best floor game, well done. I remember last year sticking up for him when everyone else was on him. We need a lock down defender.
We are a couple of laughable calls against us vs Duke in 11-12 away from being 3 in a row. I will always remember that game for Bilas even calling out some of those trash calls. I like winning early in the season while some big improvements needed. Dayton is good but probably doesnāt play much better than that the rest of the year.
@BShark 4 is our weakest link and most the teams we play will be better at that spot until one of our youngsters grow up. KU has a couple of kids that could go in his range like Tristan.
@tundrahok long shot long rebound was a big part of that.
