Pooka Williams Heisman Trophy winner in 2020!!

MILES IS NEW COACH • Nov 18, 2018 06:24 PM

@KUSTEVE settle down homie lol

MILES IS NEW COACH • Nov 18, 2018 06:20 PM

YES!!! #1 job today is talk to Pooka and go sign some offensive and defensive lineman.

Washington State • Nov 18, 2018 05:24 AM

My goodness anyone else watching Washington State spank Arizona. 55 to 14 at halftime , Minshew has 310 yards passing and 5 touchdowns. I personally think the CFP committee is over looking them after how bad some other top 10 teams have struggled with inferior teams the past few weeks. Heck LSU is ranked ahead of them and they got beat at home by 30 points. I personally think they are better than atleast 3 teams ranked ahead of them.

Other Games Tonight • Nov 18, 2018 05:10 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 It a very very very rare occasion

Other Games Tonight • Nov 18, 2018 04:58 AM

I think if we had 2 NCs in 3 I probably wouldn’t care if a few down seasons proceed it. Maybe Robinson-Earl changes his verbal lol. It doesn’t bother me to see a 5 star sit, I wish Bill would do it at times. Roy was famous for benching all 5 guys regardless of who they were if they started with no hustle and energy. I always liked the idea and most the time it worked out.

KU on big stage • Nov 18, 2018 04:53 AM

Great effort tonight, the defense did a little too much breaking but they limited huge plays. Man I hope Pooka stays, if we get the right offensive coordinator, he’ll be a force. I’m not a 100% why he only got 20 total touches. My boss who’s a huge OU fan and former college running back (DII) was asking how in the hell we lost to Nichols, KSU and Baylor with the talent we have. All I could say piss poor coaching. I’m proud of the effort these guys are putting in knowing the season is over and the coach is gone. I find myself wondering what this team could’ve done had Zenger been fired 6 months earlier and Miles was named coached assuming Pooka still comes. I bet 7 or 8 wins would’ve happened. We lose so much it’s tough to expect a high number of wins next season.

If it makes you feel after putting in a new hot water heater and washing machine, now my dishwasher has stopped working.

KU Is Not Even A Top 25 Team • Nov 17, 2018 10:13 PM

This team definitely looks average at best to this point without Vick going nuts we may have 2 losses but we don’t. We have seen some great turn arounds by Selfs teams that struggle early. Remember getting whipped in Maui in the 05-06 season and people were saying NIT or how bad the 11-12 team looked early, heck even last year Washington and ASU spanked us early.

Louisiana Game Thread • Nov 17, 2018 04:45 AM

I was at the local football game so I didn't get to watch. Sounds like it was ugly except for Vick a again...

Hooray, VBers! • Nov 15, 2018 02:58 PM

Blew a 2 set lead to KSU last night in Lawrence, I watched the first 4 set before I turned it off. I know this team is young and lacking experience but man they seem to have no fire whatsoever. I thought this team was a shoe-in for the dance but they may well be playing themselves outta a bid at this point.

The Next Coach • Nov 14, 2018 07:43 PM

@wissox Sorry @Texas-Hawk-10 post was thru when I did mine not to look like I was harping or beating a dead horse. Yes MM was a coordinator but a dam good one, that 1998 KSU team(IMO the best KSU football team ever) that choked in the B12 title game against A&M was with him as an OC, he also had a great eye for talent and convinced Floridian Micheal Bishop to come to Manhattan. He was also the OC on Bob Stoops 2000 NC team. We need a proven head coach in this situation IMO, we can’t take a big risk such as a Beaty. A OC could work forsure but MM had way better credentials than Beaty by light years. Beatys claim to fame was as a WR coach at A&M, which turned out to be a one hit wonder under Sumlin. MM made sense because he had been a part of 2 major rebuilding projects, one in Kansas even and KU wasn’t near as bad as they currently are. Its very sad that Terry Allen would be an improvement but it certainly appears that way right now (he averaged over 4 wins per year).

Vick Appreciation Thread • Nov 14, 2018 07:29 PM

@mayjay I didn’t overreact on Vick, I may have on Dedric a bit because I haven’t been impressed with him outside of rebounding to this point lol. It’s takes time as well, the dude did sit out a season.

The Next Coach • Nov 14, 2018 07:15 PM

@wissox I’m not sure I’d call Weis’s tenure at ND successful. He won 19 games his first two seasons with some highly talented recruits that Willingham had brought in. ND went 7-5 the year Willingham was fired before losing the bowl game and looked like they were a year away before Weis was hired. I only know a few ND guys but they weren’t happy that Willingham wasn’t given more time with talent he brung in. Once those guys cleared out Weis went 16-21 in his final 3 seasons. He inherited a solid group and a good foundation, better than most head coaches go into IMO and ran into the ground. Why we hired a guy that couldn’t win with resources that ND has, is still mind boggling at best. Now one could say Miles was fired from LSU and he was. But he was fired for not beating Alabama every year, the man averaged over 10 wins a year in the toughest conference in the land. I personally just want a hire that has common sense behind it, Gill had 1 winning season at buffalo, Weis was a joke after a few seasons at ND and Beaty had no experience as a HC, only one as an OC that was a complete disaster albeit. That’s why I’m hoping we can do something to lure in one of the trio of Littrell, Miles and Doren.

Boston Brickmasons are getting spanked • Nov 14, 2018 05:44 AM

My goodness I just watched some of the Charlotte vs Cleveland game. Talk about bad basketball, I was just watching for DG and he did get into the for a few minutes to miss a couple of 3s. After watching I have no idea how Charlotte is 7-7, Cleveland got their second win of the season (2-11). It was literally a contest of who could throw up,the worst shot.

Vick Appreciation Thread • Nov 14, 2018 05:24 AM

I think Vick had solid game outside of shooting 3s as well, he seemed to force several turnovers and was engaged. I think he was cold against MSU but he also didn’t need to score I was more concerned with him not having any plays that I remember sticking out, good or bad. Maybe he can become the new Mr. March (I rewatched some of the tournament games man Malik was simply fantastic).

Lmao @Crimsonorblue22 she's got a mind like a steel trap @Lulufulu

Mexico misses out on the Game of the year? • Nov 14, 2018 05:20 AM

Very scary situation in Cali right now, prayers to the firemen trying to contain the fire and all of those effected by the fire. It will be an interesting game, I see it playing out similar to the game @ New England.

Bill Self Just Played a McDAA • Nov 13, 2018 09:03 PM

@justanotherfan Vermont didn't really attack him at all on offense because they knew they didn't have the bodies to do so. This maybe the only game left where Doke isn't in any type of foul trouble.

Modern Basketball vs Bill Self • Nov 13, 2018 05:03 AM

@BShark interesting I could've swore Gurley said on pregame this currently was the worst rated team on our schedule per Kenpom.

Bill Self Just Played a McDAA • Nov 13, 2018 04:48 AM

@mayjay I thought you was calling names and got scared 🤣🤣🤣

Modern Basketball vs Bill Self • Nov 13, 2018 04:45 AM

@BShark true story, I dont want to harp on him too much. He is still used to playing in empty gyms against C-USA competition. I think Kenpom is high for having these guys rated as the worst on our schedule. I bet UL-L is a much bigger win Friday.

Modern Basketball vs Bill Self • Nov 13, 2018 04:37 AM

@BShark He's gonna have to start dunking those. People always say a layup is an easy shot and I agree but at his size a dunk should be easier. I also felt like he got schooled by Lamb several times. This isn't MSU struggling against mid major bigs spells big trouble for him. I'll be honest at this point, I seen nothing that makes me think hes too good not to be out there. He maybe hoping SDS doesn't get cleared if he has many more like today.

Bill Self Just Played a McDAA • Nov 13, 2018 04:32 AM

Also did Mitch play at all in the second half? Dont remember seeing him after the silly foul he had in the first. Hard to believe he couldn't have been just as effective as Dedric. I love how KU sports ratings says Dedric was as off in this one as good in the first one lol. 18 shots and 20 point ain't great. He did rebound well against MSU tho.

Modern Basketball vs Bill Self • Nov 13, 2018 04:26 AM

@BShark at this point that's the best option. Things can change for sure but if Dedric cant score, it's hard for me to think he needs to do anything but give doke breathers. Grimes, Dotson, Vick, Moore, KJ and Mitch can run a good 4 guard line up with Doke or Dedric on the block. I bet Self and staff have a conversation about this tonight.

Bill Self Just Played a McDAA • Nov 13, 2018 04:23 AM

My ESPN box score isn't show minutes, how many was Dotson in for? Grimes had a quiet double double and I thought Moore looked good. I'd expect Garrett's minutes to dip just a tad if the other guards can improve defensively.

Modern Basketball vs Bill Self • Nov 13, 2018 04:19 AM

Lawson 5-24 from the floor the first two games. An icey 20.8%.

Modern Basketball vs Bill Self • Nov 13, 2018 04:14 AM

@BShark 100% agree, now its early but so far small ball looks way better than 2 bigs. Dedric just hasnt been good but let's give him a few more games as well.

Bill Self Just Played a McDAA • Nov 13, 2018 04:12 AM

I will add this as well, from what I've seen David looks super raw. It's easy to score in HS being his size, at this level size will only get you so far. I believe in this staff to work with him but he may not be effective til next season.

Bill Self Just Played a McDAA • Nov 13, 2018 04:10 AM

As I said on the game thread I was somewhat shocked to not only see him not hit the floor but for KJ to get in at all. I really wish we had SDS with how well he played in the big 12 tournament last season he could be our second best big. I was hopeful Dedric just struggled with MSUs size and gerth but I'm not sold on him scoring against B12 bigs consistently. He will have to live at the line like he did against MSU from what I've seen. There also could be a chance David is nicked up too.

Vermont Game Thread • Nov 13, 2018 04:05 AM

@BShark well damn it lmao

Vermont Game Thread • Nov 13, 2018 04:05 AM

KSU wins 64-56, finishes 12-27 from the stripe. I think this KSU team will struggle to adjust to being the hunted rather than the hunter.

Vermont Game Thread • Nov 13, 2018 04:03 AM

KSU 10-23 from the line a big reason why it isn't a double digit win.

Vermont Game Thread • Nov 13, 2018 04:00 AM

Interesting that David didn't get in with how ineffective everyone but doke was. We may see more of a four guard line up than expected. The ball just moves so much better with 4 guards and if Vick, Grimes and Dotson came keep the defense honest by hitting 3s, we may need it to win games.

Vermont Game Thread • Nov 13, 2018 03:56 AM

That Vermont team looks like an NCAA, obviously they blew it last season but that's a tough out for anyone in March.

Vermont Game Thread • Nov 13, 2018 03:55 AM

@DanR lmao I got a good laugh outta that buddy.

Vermont Game Thread • Nov 13, 2018 03:52 AM

Anyone else hate how Coach Ks head has been on the screen the whole game with espn plus advertisements.

Vermont Game Thread • Nov 13, 2018 03:50 AM

Dedric just needs to shot fake and live at the line.

Vermont Game Thread • Nov 13, 2018 03:28 AM

7 for 7 wow not sure I've seen that before. Remember JR going 6 for 6 in a half then 0 for 7 in the 2nd. Closet maybe DG hitting 5 in row vs WV but was 0-4 before hand.

Vermont Game Thread • Nov 13, 2018 03:21 AM

SDS is better than any big not named Doke from what I've seen so far this season.

Vermont Game Thread • Nov 13, 2018 03:14 AM

@BShark well when in my playing days I had the highest vertical on the team at 31 inches. I'm a 6'1 white guy that could dunk so there's fair chance.

Vermont Game Thread • Nov 13, 2018 03:12 AM

I may actually be more athletic than dedric.

Vermont Game Thread • Nov 13, 2018 02:57 AM

@BShark Ya I thought that bogus offensive foul on them was a make up for all the contact Doke is getting. I feel like he gets the shaft because hes so big.

Vermont Game Thread • Nov 13, 2018 02:55 AM

Amazing how the dean dome looks half empty on opening night against a power 5 team. No wonder Roy talks about how better AFH is.

Vermont Game Thread • Nov 13, 2018 02:41 AM

Really wish we had SDS

Vermont Game Thread • Nov 13, 2018 02:32 AM

Glad Vick came back, everyone got him after MSU but he didn't need to take shots. Grimes and Dotson were hot. Gonna be lumps guys, these guys have to learn to play together.

Vermont Game Thread • Nov 13, 2018 02:26 AM

Mitch is such a liability, great kid tho

Vermont Game Thread • Nov 13, 2018 02:22 AM

Good thing Vick is on tonight or it would be ugly. Dedric has to start dunking bunnies, Doke needs to settle in along with the freshmen guards.
