@Texas-Hawk-10 no I'm complaining about Lightfoot because he could be all we have. I'm not saying he's a terrible person or it his fault. He's just not a decent player at this point in his career and it could be what cause this teams short fall. I'm not Willy Wonka, I don't sugar coat stuff.

Without Preston and /or De Sousa we are going home in the first weekend of the NCAAs, that is exactly who we are. Lightfoot is not a D1 player plain and simple. Doke will pretty much be our only big and we struggle against size and if he gets in foul trouble.

Winston and Manzel got it, obviously class has little to with these days unfortunately. It goes to the best player that comes from a high profile school. Honestly I thought the Klein kid from KSU should've won it a few years back.

Chris Beard is a good blue collar coach. I'll be surprised if he doesn't get that place to being a solid tournament team year after year.

@HighEliteMajor I can't say on here what I think of today's performance before, after and during the game, toomany folks would be offended or upset. Beaty should've been out weeks ago with Zenger but apparently they can talk their way outta of anything. Maybe he gets fired after a week 1 loss next year. We have more talent than ISU or KSU(both going bowling)just have a bunch of rejects for coaches. Paying this sorry group of con artist as much as a Pizza Hut delivery boy is about double what they deserve.

I always get a little worried because you never know how these guys will pan out. We all remember the KU fab 5 with Stewart, Wilkes, Giddens, Padgett and Case (the only guy that lasted). Happy to have those guys for sure but let's becareful.
@KUSTEVE if only Wilt hadn't rewritten the rule book, supposedly he would jump from the ft line on a miss and tip in his own shot, as long as the ball went in before he hit the ground, it counted. That my friends is one of many reasons why Wilt is the GOAT in my book. Jordan and Kareem are great but they didn't change a handful of rules just to give others a chance.

Frank had 4 points tonight in 21 minutes as the Kings got a rare win against Portland. He didn't shoot the ball well at 1/6 but was +12 for the game. Also dished out 3 assists while grabbing 3 rebounds.

Well just a guess but turning a Towson commit into POY and a draft pick probably helped in this department.
Kansas was a winner again tonight over the jackrabbits of SDSU 98-64, as Bill Self claims sole possession of second most wins in hawk history. The first half was in of the best offense preformances I've seen, 57 points, 64% shooting coupled with 0 turnovers. The biggest issue I see with the box score is rebounding(they won that battle by 9) some of that is long shot, long rebound but they only shot 28 3s. The last 3 halfs of basketball we have not got on the glass as well as we should. Breaking down what I saw from each player, Doke was solid, picked up some fouls while guarding more of a stretch 4. I'm a little disappointed in his 2 rebounds. I think we really miss a player like Billy that can score a lot different ways where as Doke will mostly be scoring from inside 6 foot of the hoop. He has to do better running the floor and doing his work early in the possession to be in a better spot to score but dude just played his 14th game and will grow a lot in the coming months. DTG is close to averaging a double double and set up his teammates well on a 11 assist night. He is playing well just needs the lid to come off the bucket for him and when it does he could be nasty. I think we could be a better team with him scoring less in the long run but I bet he averages 12-14 PPG before the seasons done. Svi was fire in this one, it all started with him being aggressive. We all know what he is capable of, he has to bring that to every game and it will not only make us a much better team but him a millionaire. Newman had a good first half, then kinda disappeared for much of the second, part of that probably had to do with the score. He seems have more trouble than the rest of the guards keeping his man in front of him but he too is a young fella with a lot of room to grow up this season. Vick was great, shot the ball well and had 7 rebounds. He's probably gonna be he most athletic guy on the floor for much of the season good to see him filling up the stat sheet. Garrett played 30 minutes off the bench and for one reason Defense! Dude is way beyond just about every freshman I've seen on that end of the floor and filled the stat sheet with 7 boards, 4 assists and 4 steals. Didn't score much but really had no reason too and I'll say this, the two PGs we just signed better bring a lunch if they plan on playing ahead of him. Mitch played hard while blocking 4 shots but just isn't strong enough yet to body with the bigs inside. I thought he passed up several open 17 footers which should be big in his game in stretching the floor, his improvement without Billy and De Sousa is huge if we plan on going anywhere in March. Clay was awesome for his first meaningful minutes and did all the little things right, Mitch had best get to work or Clay could steal his minutes by just playing smarter. Nice to see another Teahan draining a 3 in the Field house. All and all a good night still a little worried that will look as good as we are shooting on any particular night but shooting is a big part of the game no matter what. We still have a ways to go defensively and on the glass but it's always nice to win big and still feel like we could play a whole lot better.

This SDSU team isn't one to sleep on, not only did they hit 17 3s last game but have the same core guys that went to Dance back to back for the first time in school history in 16 and 17. Seems like these are the games we struggle with at home under Self and after the UK game we must be focused with no hang over. @HawkChamp Sherron claimed that a kid from NDSU was the toughest to guard in his time at KU, can't remember the kids name but he dropped 30 in AFH in a loss albeit. Remember Mason was almost a Towson player, most good mid majors have a few players that someone over looked because of height, build or something small. SDSU will prob be a 13 or 14 seed so it's good to play a team like them. This team could be compared to the ORU, Richmond or Nevada teams that have beat us, they have good coaching and experience. I think we will win but I bet it's not a 30 point beat down especially if Billy is still out, which at this point no news probably means no change in his status. I see it being a close game early but we win with a second half run by 12-18 points. Never over look an opponent in this day and age. Anyone can beat anyone on a given night.
Bilas just did a write up on the teams in the Champions Classic and put us at the worst as a ceiling of the sweet 16. Which I wouldn't say I totally disagree with but we could look a ton different in a month if De Sousa and Preston are able to go with Sam as well. I honestly thought we'd lose with Billy out, hard to gauge a team in November especially when they are missing some key pieces.
I think folks are panicking worse than the 30 point loss to UK, I think we have a higher ceiling than a year ago with Preston if he's able to go. Remember 2011-12 that lost to UK, Duke and Davidson early in the year, then got spanked up in Ames to open B12 play. Folks saying DTG can't handle the spot light GTFO, as great as Mason was last year he still had 3 games where he didn't score in double figures and several others where his shooting % was less than 40% hell Frank shot better from 3 at 47% than he did from 2 last year. I'm saying I'd take Preston over any Freshman big we have had since Embiid without question. Doke really doesn't count with his injury. But as I stated last night LL would've fumble the ball away half of Dokes dunks if you want the honest truth.

In a time out the side line gal early in the second half Self was preaching to get the ball inside. We took a ton of threes for sure but I honestly felt like all but 5 were good looks. Everyone needs to calm the heck down, it could be worse. We could've lost by 40 to U.K. In this, which we've done before. We won so it doesn't remind me of a elite eight loss and U.K. is as long as a team we will face which was like Oregon but LL would've fumbled the ball in half the dunks Doke had. It's November, let's see what happens with Preston and how Sam plugs in. This team played far from its best tonight.
Kinda weird that no one mentioned it that I heard on the telecast but Self now has 418 wins in town to match Roy. Idk if it was because it was such a big game vs UK or just ESPN not paying attention to someone west of the Mississippi.
We need Billy no question after tonight, Mitch got a steal that was batted into his lap in about 7minutes of play.

@jaybate-1.0 Lightfoot isn't a transfer for starters and Self has signed Dotson,De Sousa and McCormick already for next years class all not transfers. Garrett and Preston were both 5 stars guys, you also have to recruit these transfers. Malik Newman was highly sot after and probably could've picked about any school in the land to transfer too. I honestly expected ct to read all fiction no malice at the end of your post. Nike and Underarmor had plenty to do with the FBIs findings themselves, they are a land slide from being in the clear.
