Same with Cam Spencer last year. If he came to KU he wouldn’t have been as successful

Griffen and AJ proved it at other schools. Both were more successful elsewhere

Rylan shoots a 3 and if he misses he’s looking over his shoulder. At bama Oats is screaming keep shooting

Self should elevate all his players to get the absolute best out of them. Instead he admitted to mind f’n AJ and speaks of those transfers not coming along quick enough. They’ve proven it elsewhere so it’s his philosophy and system that’s the issue not elevating his guys.

Imagine if he treated those guys the same as his 3 boys? Maybe they would play better.

Talked with multiple buddies who are all diehards like us and they are seeing the same thing. Long leash, his favorites, body language by guys getting the quick yank ect

We have to be down 10-15 and then we push it (I’m meaning even good 2022 teams)

I 100% agree based on what this years team has shown we gotta try to win ugly but had we leveraged our talent early like against Duke it’s the opposite of go out score people

We play our best when maximizing possessions and it’s why we look good early on every year. Then bill says we didn’t play defense

Then we do whatever that looks like and the offense completely plummets

When he lets them play free and get out offensively we got a better chance than “winning ugly”

This years team sucks because of the big 3 and they can’t hardly score with anyone so you gotta win 61-59 which won’t work for 6 straight games but it is their only option based on the neutered roster

The most stubborn coach who loves to win ugly is after decades just switch his philosophy….wont happen but man would it be fun with the athletes we might have next year

The issue next year will be diggy/Elmarko playing over a pg transfer and under performing

Us not getting DP involved enough in the offense

Us in crucial situations trying to play through bigs for low block buckets versus giving dp the ball in pnr or letting him go 1 v 1

Self’s brain doesn’t compute basketball that way and never will. He’s getting more stubborn as we go. Defending guys, arguing with the media, calling out the fanbase and just blatant lack of accountability for the trash he’s putting out there. The W-L has been brutal and he’s taken zero accountability

Three bigs - man dolla bill really is struggling to coach elite players and elevate them. Tang smoking him 3 straight seasons and our road record, big 12 finishes and tourney appearances plus ncaa finishes are all clearly showing something

All I remember after 2022 with wright and k retiring is oh Self is going to take us to new heights.

Heart deal happened and it was level up and “won’t happen again”…..he’s literally taken us to new lows these last two years instead

Complete and utter flop showing he ain’t the goat right now and it ain’t even close. His talent evaluation is atrocious and even when he does see the guys play he doesn’t pull the right strings to have them play their best.

When other players played better for other teams that says ATON about Self and his “system/coaching”

The best coaches get the most out of all their players

Flory wasn’t perfect when he was playing 30 mpg but his impact was very evident and statistically he was lightyears better than kj

It isn’t that teams figured him out because he has no post moves to figure out he rebounds, blocks/alters shots and dunks

What changed is his minutes. Give him double the minutes these past two games and he’d produce like before

Our defense was so stellar today I mean he just had to stay on the bench (even though he was such a clear defensive impact when playing against a top 10 team like Houston that when he went out everyone knew it was over)

I know my tune is more negative because I gauge the team in two ways since around 2001

1) are they good enough to win a title

2) are the right players playing based on gameplay observations

2008 I knew we were good enough

2022 we weren’t until Remy happened in big 12 tourney and I saw something we hadn’t seen before. That team was unexpected.

Irrelevant of metrics the team this year is sweet 16 at best and not even challenging for the conference confirms this

The right guys aren’t playing the right minutes

Pair these together and a nice win at home against a top 10 team is fun but doesn’t alter my mindset for what this team will or won’t achieve in March

The pro’s - we won last night and that top play brought the roof down - it was awesome baby with a capital A “paying homage to the great dickie V!”

The cons - isu missed a ton of open 3’s so my view that our defense was stellar isn’t 100% factual when their 3’s were wide open shots

Bill’s quick hook for guys but then allows “his guys” to make mistakes over and over and they don’t get the quick hook. He’s really struggling to allow other senior players who transfer in the same trust/leash as his “proven guys”. Those same “proven guys” have proven they are leading one of the worst record stretches, big 12 finishes and 2nd round bounces in the ncaa’s

The guys who transfer in know this, see this and don’t think it is fair. Frankly it flat out isn’t but Bill has major blind spots and he will never see them.

Defending kj playing the entire second half against Baylor cause he could defend and get buckets is just awful analysis. He and I aren’t even watching the same game and he’s supposed to be lightyears ahead of me in bball knowledge.

I know 60 points in a half means the guys you trusted YET AGAIN didn’t deliver as you expect them to. Hey but let’s keep running that same core 3 out there expecting different results!

@Texas-Hawk-10 He looked just fine in warm ups. He came in and had a bad turnover and went straight back to the bench. Meanwhile d2 comes back in the game and turns it over 3 more times but gets to stay in.

I’m sick of this crap - dolla bill says he wants d2 to have a break but if the guy comes in and has a stupid turnover he throws d2 back in the game

He’s literally the blinded parent to them who could never see it even with film and we got a hell of a lot of film on how bad they are (heck analytics too)

This program has a 1 and 4 problem. The issue is the coach never recruited over them because he thought they are great players. Turns out all the couch potatoes with minimal basketball knowledge can correctly identify talent compared to dolla bill.

What’s worse is he continues to defend them to the death that they are wonderful players and the reason we win so much (sarcasm as dolla bill clearly hasn’t looked at our record these last two years doing his most losing ever)

I still think this is anywhere from a R32 to E8 team and will largely depend on the match ups in KU's bracket. This team has multiple wins over current top 10 teams this season so we know that potential is there. We can’t beat isu, houston, bama, uk, Florida, auburn any top 10 team in the tournament playing in the 50’s. Those teams will all score more than that and our defense is mid against them because it’s slanted based on the unathletic teams we play and dominate. During that stretch isu scored 74 on us and it felt like they could have easily score 80 had their tall shooter had played

I’ve been saying Griffen is gone - that’s been known in Bama circles for a few weeks now.
