@Bosthawk Well, I thought the season was already over. What is there to play for now that we have defeated Mizzou, which from some quarters is apparently viewed as the be-all and end-all of all opponents? (Not you--you just provided an opening!)
@HawkChamp "Are they special? I think only a March run will dictate that."
Maybe what we need to do is say, "Screw March!" Go on an April run, and March will take care of itself.
@jayballer54 It is funny how various things like menus or links show up nonobviously on the screen and you might never know they are there until someone points it out.
I hate programs where things are invisible until you happen to have your cursor nearby and then they magically appear. Luckily, this one is not like that.
@jaybate-1-0
So this is the secretly re-redacted version of the incendiary allegedly unredacted message?
@jayballer54
Click on the name. Private message ("Start new chat") should be one of the items in the menu in their profile. Three dots next to picture.
Answer to my question: they actually began 2013-14 with a 5-4 record!
He won't need to rack up the points to that extent while playing with Simmons. Good Golly, that young man is everything they could have wanted!
Hey, when was the last time the 76ers were at .500 eight games into the season?
Tonight (11/1): Home defeat of Atlanta. 21 pts, 12 rebs, 6 assts, 3 stls, 3 blks. 30 min, so he must be feeling healthy!
@jaybate-1.0 It was my question that, as was aptly pointed out, was far afield from this thread, so I chose not to pursue it.

@HawkChamp Oh I get what your saying - -you mean like Billy last night trying to dribble down the court and act like a point guard and knock the guy over get the charge called on himself and knock himself senseless - - -THOSE type of stupid fouls/plays lmao -- -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
What is so funny to me about the play is something no one has mentioned: that poor Pittsburg player, planted and trying to figure out how to cut off the drive, was probably assuming he'd have to shade one direction or another. Just waiting to be made to look ridiculous, frozen like the deer in headlights. So here comes Billy, who doesn't commit one way or the other, and plows into him with 240 pounds of packed muscle and bone. Even then, his first reaction has to be, "I'm going to die!" Only to see Billy be the one having to leave shaken up.
Ends up being a great play by the guy, but did he ever think he'd be the winner in that confrontation?
@BShark Gotta be somebody tall in the intramural leagues, or on the alleged football team....
BShark said: Where can I find the companion piece about how KU has great post depth? :laughing:
Probably somewhere about 5 to 6 months ago when we thought Coleby and Whatzisname would be here.
@HawkChamp I didn't see that. Trying to watch WS at the same time, I missed parts of both games. Good to hear.
@HighEliteMajor He certainly does not want to give out any info helpful to Ft. Hays in their prep!
@HawkChamp Like lots of conversations, one aside led to another...dangerous, perhaps, to listen to me and @jaybate-1-0.
@HighEliteMajor Wow, that is a toughie, I guess. But I have strayed far afield. Let us just say, to get back on track, that their water problems are more intractable than the UK guard situation, because Calimari always has more future resources in his pipeline.
I did some law school clinical work in child protection cases in Flint in 1980. It was grim then, and it is grim now. The water situation is a national disgrace. So, what do Flint and Puerto Rico's crises have in common?
@chriz Now I am hungry and no burger anywhere.... thanks a lot!
@Crimsonorblue22 It is one of those names that I think are unique in the memories they evoke of excellent performances, grit, and excitement. Anyone who names their kid Calvin who is a Jr. should be shot. We need no more Wilts, or Tigers, or Usains, for that matter.... @jaybate-1-0 would probably include Honus and Ty, too, since he saw them play--in wool, of course!
@jaybate-1.0 One, I think.
@Crimsonorblue22 Cal Ripkin, Jr.?
@Crimsonorblue22 There is 1 and only 1 Cal, Jr. A certain Oriole. No KY imposter is worthy of the name....
@Bwag I finally found it. Went there. Have to get back to ESPN on my phone to see game. Can't do both!
@approxinfinity Did you delete the link for the game chat in Slack?

70 degrees and sunny here in SC as we wait for early (family coming by car) trick or treaters. Rocking on the front porch dressed up like (as?) a couple of old fogies--wait, those are our normal clothes!
El Poyo's Bane.
@jayballer54 Absolutely have a chance depending on if he thinks Doke and/or Billy and/or Vick will come back. Zero if he thinks they all will. Kid wants to play, and wants to star. Is there room at UK? Still a chance for SC to get him. Martin has a fantastic ability to relate to these kids and their parents. Sources here say he is very much a homebody. Clemson closer to home, but nothing else to recommend it unless he is a huge football fan or has buddies going there.
@elpoyo That is 13 years of sunshine, not 12, and Self is the only coach in history to do it. Borrow someone's toes if it helps, as you seem to have put your feet in your mouth quite a bit on this topic.
@kjayhawks That may not be the one he is referencing. Hint: Google Jack Kerouac.
@jayballer54 All the in-state rivalries you mentioned are in-conference rivalries except for UL and UK. Exposure nationally from a game in Kansas vs WSU isn't the same as being in other far-flung cities near where high level recruits are located.
BTW, I would love to see KU and S Carolina play a H&A series for a few years. Has the Self/Martin drawing card. This area (southeast US) has zillions of recruits and we don't get into the area much except for the UK game or occasional NCAA games if we are sent to a different region from the MW.
From ESPN about 76ers' defeat of Houston in Houston last night:
Joel Embiid had 22 points, nine rebounds and five assists with two steals in 25 minutes. Dating back to 1983-84, it is just the third time a player has posted those numbers in 25 minutes of play or less. Pau Gasol did it in 2015 for Chicago and Fat Lever did it in 1990 for Denver.
@wissox Utterly exhausted, but worth every minute. We just need to get rid of all those west-of-here time zones, standardize on EDT nationwide, and start games at 6 pm my time.
I am sure y'all can get used to the sun rising at 4, 5, and 6 in the morning over the winter. It would involve much less disruption to the American way of life than changing the rules of baseball (shudder...).
I think the other B12 teams are just laying low to try to sandbag us in conf play. Tbe strategy of being good in nonconf didn't work for them....
I don't mind when they don't let competing outlets in an area carry games, because they have an interest in trying to use unique programming to attract customers. And blackouts to protect attendance make sense.
But blackouts when an arena is sold out, and refusing to sell an event to other providers in areas where they are not competitors, makes no sense.
Worse for Dodgers fans in LA. Half the population cannot see their regular season games.
Congrats to Iowa State! Showing that programs can rebuild.
And when they see that the offense can do something, even against a bad team, it can create a little more energy for the whole team.
Very interested in rereading all the lectures I received recently about how switching to Stanley could not possibly work out for KU.
How many 4-time All Americans have there been in history, not just KU but all schools?
@AsadZ I hope not. With a bunch of young'uns coming in, Ned might be the one you want to talk them through the low times like he did this group.
We used to get the TWS channel here in SC but they shut it down this year. Here is the wiki article on how they changed it.
@Fightsongwriter "Spectrum" is Rebranding-Speak for "We had the worst reputation for customer satisfaction among over 230 national corporations rated, and we think a name change will cure that because we think Americans are idiots and won't notice the service is the same."
@JayHawkFanToo @Fightsongwriter
hmmm...I recall the criteria expanding but I do believe HCBS said it is fluid and might allow more players in who don't fit strictly into the categories previously discussed. Is Cole up there for National Academic All American of the Year, or is this part of that?
@jaybate-1.0 That is probably true, though our spelling might not reflect the actual language.
Which takes us back to the state to the east. After a lifetime of study and observation, I am forced to conclude the "--- A - H" ending is incorrect. The long EE sound at the end is the correct one.
To wit, "M - I - S - E - R - Y." I doubt if this one is Native American. I am pretty sure the slavers brought it with them and keep trying to export it.
@KUSTEVE Careful making fun of pronunciations: people in Kansas talk about the good old "Kaw" River..
I wonder if he even wanted to talk to them?
@kjayhawks Ah, I never go there.
@kjayhawks Who are you replying to? There are no negative comments, certainly no one ragging on him. (Unless something got deleted before I saw this thread.)
@JayHawkFanToo You are correct! But, although I haven't done the calculations of all those things Prof Sher taught me (well, tried to teach me), I would hazard a guess that the statistical significance of 2 made in 3 attempts in a full season just might be sliiiiiightly low.

Good thing Traylor isn't here or Preston wouldn't play at all.
Lightfoot could take that role. All the factors are there--undersized yet forced by lack of depth into the post, praised for his energy, can't really shoot from outside, occasional exciting block but occasional bone-headed play, fan favorite.... Wow, if any of the other front court players fails to perform or makes HCBS mad, I think he might be starting soon and even be able to make you forget JamTray while taking you into familiar territory:

This game tonight is everything you should love about baseball.
dave armstrong voice WOW!
So last night turns out to be the one night in October that I go to bed early b/c I could barely see straight after a verrry long day. Tied 1-1, I figured it might be an exciting pitchers' duel, maybe a dramatic finish, but something had to give and it was me.
And then I wake up to see that I missed 6 more home runs and the final 6 innings of what is being called the best game 2 in history. Oh, well! Glad for anyone who saw it!
@drgnslayr Actually, that might well be an official picture of a deputy before and after being on undercover loan to a department in Missouri.
