@jayballer67 It says that Bezos has hundreds of million dollars in gov't contracts and so has decided not to make anyone mad.
Just like last year, JD tries to make a hero-play. Then it was an injury trying to get an unnecessary extra yard, this time tries to vault a defender while holding the ball out in one hand, resulting in a fumble. Does he understand that at the end of the gamevyou HAVE to protect the ball?
Seems absurd that 6-7 guys rushing the passer wouldn’t leave a few chances for numerous over the middle passes. But no one ran crossing routes, despite having 2 timeouts and over a minute left. I am now in the fire the OC camp.
Hunt has an reportable hamstring issue but was a full participant in practice yesterday.
Incidentally, the last guy with this Int/TD stat line to begin the season 6-0 was "Paintin' Manning" who won the SB.
And wide receivers are going down all over.
@dylans He always looks shy when they show him in the dugout. Has one of those callow faces evocative of a kid looking around in wonder.

I watched Judge in some interviews and got an impression that he is genuinely a nice dude, humble and not arrogant.
I cant say the same about Soto.
If I were a 25 year old with Soto's experience and accomplishments and skills, I wouldn't be humble either. Some people who are arrogant are just jerks, but a very elite few are just that good.

@mayjay Yes, it’s all rigged. Even you know it!
I'm pretty sure Iowa State, K State, and Buffalo Bills, Cincy Bengals, and Phil Eagles fans all have determined, beyond further dispute, that the only thing ever rigged is when the Jayhawks and Chiefs win.
I love being on the side of the cheaters!

elected Republicans wouldn’t hate to see him hit by a bus tomorrow
Strangely, buses are required to be registered and no one has a hissy fit.
@rockchalkjayhawk Saleh demoted Hackett to give the play-calling duties to another guy, and then got fired. Escorted out by security. Woody talked with Aaron Rodgers before the firing but says AR had no input.
I believe that denial as much as I believe that I'm the Easter Bunny.
@jayballer67 Nah, no yelling. But your statement [that IF the Royal had the same market as NYY (which really means equal revenue resources) they also would spend heavily] makes a strong case for NFL-style revenue sharing.
No one has ever said small market teams spend less because they are better people who don't like money. Sure, they'd spend, but NYY and LAD can afford to spend far more than their competitors. They aren't more moral either.
It is an inherent flaw in the competitive structure that makes it harder for small-market teams, which is largely why the NFL is now more popular .... revenue sharing and a hard salary cap have done a lot to keep teams more equally competitive.
Except for Jacksonville, it seems.😉
@rockchalkjayhawk They are doing more tests and don't expect answers until next week. I suspect the Hollywood Brown injury needing unexpected surgery 5 weeks after his injury has made them very cautious about making sure how extensive the injury is before deciding how to proceed (with both treatment and the roster). From what I remember from certain painful events of long ago, they may also be waiting for swelling to go down because it can make it hard to determine the true extent of soft tissue damage.
@rockchalkjayhawk You could make comments on articles in The Athletic. Seems like nothing is out of bounds there!

Question of the day: Will I be happy or sad that i don't have ESPN+ to watch the game today?
Either way, you will have saved money!
@AsadZ I can't imagine anyone begrudging the Royals celebrating long and hard. Facing losing their position after a 7 game losing streak, they shut out the Nationals twice and won the 3rd game with clutch hitting, putting their magic number at 1.
It's a season to be proud of, something no team has done before. And you would prefer they feel embarrassed?
@dylans I think with his past injury issues he was aware he had only a short time to go pro before he wouldn't be able to attract much interest. Just a guess.
Plus, going out with a championship definitely brings attention, especially with his MOP level play that iced the win. Could have killed his chances to come back and look bad.
@nuleafjhawk Nah, we don't eat steak anymore. I've burned too many. Luckily, my wife likes apples and peanut butter.
This is like listening to a bunch of whiners at a bar talking about divorcing their wives because two weeks after the wedding she burned a steak.
uh oh...
Letting the QB run straight through the middle has been a problem before, IIRC.
The standings for the league are so symetrical:
9 teams 2-0
1 team 2-1
12 teams 1-1
1 team 1-2
9 teams 0-2
Top 16 are exactly the opposite of bottom 16.
I would bet this is the last time the records are mirrored like that.
@jayballer67 You are in the MLB thread!
@jayballer67 ESPN site has all the standings. You can choose by division, by league, by how nonfirst-place teams stand in the wild-card race, etc.
You can also scroll right to see runs scored, differential, and other stuff. You can sort by almost every column.

Pacheco out 6 to 8 wks, acc to ESPN. KC looking at K Hunt.
$6 mil in cap space, BTW.
Pacheco has a fractured fibula, will likely go to IR. We have Steele and Perine right now. Here are available free agents (Chiefs could pick someone from another team's practice squad, but there are some restrictions on that, I think). I'd sign Cook or McKinnon.
Best Running Back Free Agents, 2024:
Dalvin Cook
Latavius Murray
Kareem Hunt
Jerick McKinnon
Melvin Gordon
Alex Armah
Eno Benjamin
Salvon Ahmed
Giovanni Ricci
Josh Kelley
DeWayne McBride
Matt Breida
James Robinson
Royce Freeman
Isaiah Spiller
I seem to remember last year before the draft Williams compared himself to Pat Mahomes. I remember thinking at the time tht I hoped he wouldn't start right off the bat and instead, like PM, would get a year of watching and learning.
It gets a lot of play but I still think Reid and Veach don't get enough credit for keeping Alex Smith as PM's mentor. Bears needed a vet to do that. (They could have even signed our backup, Carson Wentz, a hugely experienced guy who could have given them adequate play.)
@dylans KS looks a little like O Brown did. He doesn't slide to the outside fast enough. Thuney was trying to help but KS didn't give enough space.
Definitely should have kept a TE to help on the left (were those weird formations supposed to help?). Could have done a screen pass after steering the DE back into KS.
All I ever would need to know about Trump, even if I'd never seen him before and if I just climbed out of a 10 year isolation chamber, is that he took Laura Loomer to 9/11 memorials this week. She contends 9/11 was an inside job. That woman is too much even for Marjorie Taylor Greene.
The Chiefs have 3 WRs on the practice squad, Nikko Rimigio, Justyn Ross, and Montrell Washington. I'd like to see Ross get a few weeks and just finally break out of the problems his 2 yr foot injury caused him. But it will probably be whoever shows best combo of speed and route running to give pressure opposite Worthy.
@nuleafjhawk Sadly, they fervently believe it. Remember, an entire wing of evangelicals believe DJT was annointed by Jesus to save America.
@FarmerJayhawk It's especially silly for DT & JDV to make that claim because we all know Joey Chestnut ate most of the dogs.
@stoptheflop said in Let’s talk Illinois:
play calling was ridiculous. 3rd and 2
Ah, reminds me of the mid-70s Chiefs' games. "Podolak into the line twice for 8 yards, pass incomplete, punt."
@BShark Well, darn it, I'm getting up in years, too, so how dare you stop visiting me here at the Buckets Old Farts Home!
@Crimsonorblue22 The absence of Sneed will not be noticeable after a few games. Spags will get the DBs to stop trying to tackle by diving behind the runners. I hope....
Balt gave up on using Henry in the 2nd half b/c the Chiefs were up by 2 scores. Remember the Titans game in the playoffs a few years back? Same thing. A good lead can negate his dominance.
Tomorrow's game from Brazil is on Peacock only, I believe.
@jayballer67 Well, looks like it could be awhile. DirectTV seems determined.
@jayballer67 Yeah, Disney is mad they got enjoined from a streaming agreement merger (with Fox and Warner Bros) because of antitrust concerns. They are demanding that Direct TV expressly waive any right to ever raise antitrust issues caused by Disney's practices. They are also demanding that any new contract has to include DirectTV agreeing that all future litigation has to be heard in California rather than NY (a New York federal judge is the one who issued the injunction).
Just sign up for a month of Sling or Hulu or Fubo or YouTubeTV. This dispute might get uglier before it gets solved because it isn't just about the fees as it usually is. Disney seems determined to use its economic power to force unrelated concessions by other businesses...kind of ironic if they don't want to be seen as a megalopoly.
@Crimsonorblue22 It was a tragedy of errors. Astros on 1st and 2nd, hot comebacker up the middle that pitcher Erceg tries to barehand but only knocks it down (would have been DP if fielded), he gets ball and throws wide to Pasq at 1st, whose hand or wrist gets blasted by the runner. Both Erceg and Pasq had to leave the game.
We're screwed.
Nice short article about Puni who is now the starter at RG for SF (Trent Williams isn't signed yet, so they have shuffled OL).
Louis Rees-Zammit signed with the Jags practice squad.
@wissox @Crimsonorblue22 Bean was just signed to Colts' practice squad.
KC now tied for 1st. Best record in AL since the All Star break.
More background on the Chiefs' new LB, Cameron Thomas (3rd rd pick by the Cards in '22). More of an edge rusher than LB.
