The Athletic says so!
Good thing the NFL made sure the Chiefs would win by sneaking into Arrowhead and greasing the top 10 feet of the left upright. The league will do ANYTHING!
@nuleafjhawk I knew it was 5MEB, never heard of Tesla! One of my favorite songs from oh-so-many years ago.
@kjayhawks Humphries probably hasn't played in that amount of noise before. Be patient. Things'll get better.
In other news, we will have infinite energy and world peace by midnight!
@Zabudda Arlo? What does he have to do with it?
Kadarius Toney just muffed a punt for his latest team, ending the Browns' last gasp attempt to come back against the Steelers.
@SlimShaddy54 Where did you see it?
Started a separate thread about Grimes because I thought this was just about student athletes and didn't see the posts here.
Speaking of student athletes, Daniels tied for All Big 12 Scholar or whatever they call it.
Athletic has an article about UW targeting O.C. Grimes.
I will post information as the situation develops whether Board rats can sign up to help load a moving van.
@kjayhawks said in Finally Some RESPECT: Jayhawks Favored At Baylor:
Look at the dozens of BB recruits that were 4 or 5 stars that amounted to crap for us.
Wait, I thought that was because Self is a crappy coach? Which narrative am I supposed to follow...is there a guide?
@AsadZ Proof yet again that yardage stats don't correlate with W/L results.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Leaving people open in the corner is a KU tradition. Almost as if there is no institutional memory of how Svi scored 90% of his points.
@kjayhawks said in Furman Game Thread:
Only gripes I have is we could’ve hit a few more open 3s and cut down on the turnovers.
Yeah, 7 turnovers is inexcusable.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Didn't Brown get hurt last week? Aggravated today pregame?
Instant Replay.
Weird that both halves ended so unusually!
@Gorilla72 It was an illegal shift. Multiple guys were in motion when the ball was snapped. False start stops the play from beginning. The penalty was declined because we got the fumble.
Why not a Steele run on 3rd and 2?
@kjayhawks Well 10 seconds might be fair. After all, the Bears took 26 seconds! 🤪
@stoptheflop Nothing, but the refs stopped the clock for the review. The runoff is because the refs stopping the clock to make sure of a call is not supposed to unfairly aid a team with no timeouts. If we had a timeout, we could have used it to keep 14 secs.
@wissox So, I am interested in your take on HD. I recall you didn't like him after he stepped on the UW player when he was at UM, and you weren'tthrilled with him coming. Any sense of expecting dirty play from him to eventually happen? (Am I remembering this right?)
@SlimShaddy54 There are 3 wild cards, seeded 5, 6 and 7. They all play in the first round at the 3 lowest division winners (2, 3, 4) who are at home even if their W-L record is worse than the WC. 7 at 2, 6 at 3, 5 at 4. Top seed gets a bye, then plays the lowest seeded survivor of the 1st rd games.
No limit on how many WC teams come from any division. Just 3 best conference records after the div winners.
@stoptheflop said in KU vs Duke PreGame:
But in my experience, Coach doesn’t focus on an opponent’s top scorer
Seems logical. If the one guy scores 1/3 of the points, he might be relatively unstoppable. The other guys score 2/3, so cutting their effectiveness may be easier and cut their scoring more than holding the star to half his usual which could well mean we are dbl teaming and leaving guys open.
@kjayhawks said in ya it's me Jayballer 67:
How do we know it’s really @jayballer67 and not an imposter?
When he roots for the Yankees and the Packers in front of a Chiefs and Royals mob, we'll know.
'Prox is THE MAN!
My confusion over the comments in this thread was so puzzling that I unblocked a certain someone to see what was going on. My mistake.... Same ol' shit being spewed by the same ol' asshole for years now. Block Command, you are my hero yet again.
Blitzing is fun but when it doesn't get home you are very thin in the defensive backfield.

But it doesn't count because you NEVER throw in the towel!!! And we all admire that.... 🫡
@bskeet Pressure doesn’t do any good if receivers get wide open.
@wissox said in Kansas-BYOB (bring your own bibles):
How can they not see that hold?
There were at least 3 on that play so they might have just been overwhelmed and gave up.
I just want the KU linebackers to prove they have some idea that if a guy is running toward the end zone, you can't aim where he is right now. You need to aim for where he will be.
This is my dearest wish. This is my fondest dream. This is my reverent prayer.
Other than Netflix shitting the bed.
Floria on Pro Football Talk on NBC sports has a long article about how Netflix better get its act together before its Christmas schedule. Screwing up the boxing thing is one thing but screwing up KC at Pittsburgh would be something else!
Hunter ain't loved so much, neither.
@kjayhawks I agree there is no reason to put Bill on a pedastal. I gripe about both him and Andy Reid during games on specific decisions (get someone out before a 3rd foul in the first half; give Morris more chip blocks to seal the left side; etc).
But it is a huge stretch from that to constantly be bitching about his strategic decision-making. For example, I don't know anything about why they make certain choices on whom to play but I would infer that a heckuvalot more info is available to the coaches than to me. (Practices, trainer's reports, ass't coaches' scouting, etc.)
What gets my dander up (now there is an old fogey phrase) is when people attribute those decisions to some presumed reason they set forth (Bill just plays favorites who hurt the team; Andy is dumb to never let PM do a QB sneak on 4th and <1; etc.), and then go on rants about how wrong that reason is.
In other words, both these guys have more experience AND more information about the small and large pictures both, and over time I have gained perspective about how in contrast much of my analysis is colored by my reactions that are often emotional in the heat of the moment. That doesn't make these guys infalible, but their records so far give me great confidence in giving them the benefit of the doubt that on the whole they are much smarter coaches than I ever could be. They've earned it.
@approxinfinity The Athletic article generated almost 200 comments, almost all of which were "karma" comments saying he deserved it and other vile hateful stuff.
Seems like election frustration getting directed at Butker. Not proud of my fellow libs.
Blocking win rates help evaluate OL regardless of whether that directly correlates to rushing yardage averages because of other factors. There is a reason our 3 interior linemen were selected by numerous players as midseason All Pros.
Incidentally, look at how low the Chiefs' pressure and sack rates are in the pass blocking chart.
The article says ESPN created these metrics but I have seen the win rates cited for years by many sources, including for college players in the draft.
This just in: Instead of relocating to a new stadium, Chiefs will stay at Arrowhead but they are changing their demand for renovations. Now they want Jackson County to pay half the costs of adding an orthopaedic surgical ward next to the home clubhouse.
Actually, the Chiefs are tied for 1st in OL run blocking win rate, and are 5th in pass block win rate. We also have the lowest percentage of stuffed runs (zero or neg yds).
The OL is making the blocks at a high rate. But when PM can't find receivers open the pocket breaks down. Similarly, the run blocking is elite and Pacheco has the blasting power to do more with those than Hunt. Hopefully, we will see the avg grow then.
Taylor does well when not getting penalized, and was almost flawless in the SB.. Our bigger problem is left tackle, where both players seem very slow in realizing they have to actually move their feet left rather then trying arm tackles and holding.
I think he tens to get more fouls when aggressively rebounding. Maybe Self would rather keep him on the court.
@BShark If I recall correctly: Arrested in 2023 for alleged sexual assault involving someone who left a party, got called back to his place, fell asleep, woke up naked....etc. Dunno how it turned out. No updates I could find.
@wissox Great rundown. I just wish Josh Jackson hadn't thrown it all away. Anyone remember when we were so optimistic that his car-keying episode was an aberration? 🙁
Maybe Reid is keeping the deep WR plays in his pocket until Buffalo. Watch, we'll have 3 guys with 40+ yard TDs!
Wait, only 4 TO's, in the second game of the year, with god knows how many new people, against U-freakin'-NC?
I am gratifyingly amazed!
A minor election observation based on the demographic at our development-wide yard sale that was open to the surrounding community this past Saturday...... I think if Trump carries out his mass deportation of up to 10 to 20 million illegal immigrants, our future yard sales will be toast.
As to the direction of the country, I am speechless.

Okay, scratch that. Expected to sign with Titans.
@rockchalkjayhawk Mike Edwards was released if we want to bring back yet another former Chief.
@kjayhawks That ball was underthrown, causing him to have to run backwards. PM and Worthy need to refresh their timing.
Jawaan Taylor restructured his contract to free up $5.5 million so the Chiefs could trade for Hopkins and Uche. He is playing much better this year with far fewer penalties. Of course, with LT position in chaos other teams probably made the Chief's left side the main point of attack.
