@approxinfinity "post covid honesty" - Dude! I've thought about that a lot lately. Is it a thing? I've really felt that way - I'm trying not to be an a$$ about things, but it's almost like i'm compelled to be honest. Not like i was a liar before - i've always kind of taken pride in being honest, but now i'm talking.....H.O.N.E.S.T.
@jayballer67 Yes, it will get better. But, I've learned to look at it this way - it's profound and fantastic to have someone that you care so much about that it hurts when they're gone. I have lost a lot of people that it really didn't make much difference to me. I know how awful that sounds, but I'm learning to be less politically correct and more honest.
@jayballer67 Sorry for your loss. Losing a good friend is, in my opinion, as devastating as losing a family member. I still find tears rolling down my face when I'm reminded of my best friend whom I lost six years ago.
@wissox They have these things called airplanes, bro.
Chief's complaints....
1) Have Mahomes sell Whataburger. And his share of the Royals. And quit with all the commercials. Now, I realize he has to supplement his 1/2 BILLION dollar income, but maybe sell shoes in the off season or something.
2) Tell Andy Reid to quit being a pu$$y and go for a 4th down once in a while.
That should take care of things.
@wissox Not after the K-State game...
@kuballin10 I'm hoping he's drunk. Otherwise, I'm with @Crimsonorblue22
@jayballer67 Well, if they don't care enough to send a REAL airplane........
@wissox Southern Hawaii Institute of Technology? Interesting...
@AsadZ Main QB, Main RB and Main Defensive Player. It could have been a WHOLE lot worse.
@mayjay I know that quote didn't come from Mahomes. "QB's who throw the ball away....."
@jayballer67 That's really a good thing for me. I've always really enjoyed the sound of fingernails on a chalkboard.
@jayballer67 I'd sure be interested. I thought this might be a big story either way - out for the season or a few games - but I can't find much of anything. I guess it's just KU.
@FarmerJayhawk This is not the best news I've ever heard...
@jayballer67 After three consecutive humiliating, shameful, degrading, ASS-WHOOPINS, they may be more dejected than fired up. I hope so. I don't want KU to be the team that they finally get their act together with.
@stoptheflop I wonder if Duggan knows who, at basically the halfway point in the season, leads the nation in sacks?
Oh yeah. That would be KANSAS. Tied with some team named Alabama.
I so hope they underestimate us. That will be fun.
@AsadZ - As a freshman, Ky Thomas led a pretty good Minnesota team in rushing and was the MVP of their bowl game. That seems like a pretty good "backup".
@dylans You've never seen me on the football bandwagon, but I am ridiculously optimistic about this season. The traditional powers are down this year. The team is playing like they are possessed. If they can avoid further debilitating injuries (and players bailing out), this team has a chance of winning 10 or 11 games. There - I said it. What's even crazier, I believe it.
I'm not interested in winning the lottery. Unless I do.
I've got a 2 dollar bill and a $25 Cabela's gift card that I'll chip in to keep him here.
@wissox Look. Probably (hopefully) none of us here are big K-State fans, BUT - they have had some significant victories.
They have had FIFTEEN National Championships in Livestock Judging.
Them boys knows their cows. :)
I've been a KU fan for over 50 years and had never heard of this guy. This is a very interesting read. I think his name needs to be refreshed in the Jayhawk community.
I hope we start taking these top 25 rankings for granted.
@wissox I'll help him pack his bags. I'm way more worried about losing now than I was about trying to win before.
@DanR They probably meant porn
Here's what I'M enthusiastic about:
All time record - KU 589-658-58
KSU 539-652-41
KU vs KSU 65-49-5
All the wildkitty hype over the last 20+ years and we're STILL kicking their butts.
@MoonwalkMafia I like your enthusiasm.. I don't see us beating Texas or Okie St. I hope I'm wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.
@Crimsonorblue22 We'll work something out!
@BeddieKU23 Damn few people can handle fortune and fame gracefully.
I hope I do when I'm rich and famous.
@jayballer67 Oh, I'm all about shuttles - especially for $1. But where do you park to get on the shuttle?
@FarmerJayhawk I'm ok with soulless asphalt.... Actually, I don't live in or near Lawrence and i don't know where the parking places are. But I was super frustrated the last time I went and I thought "No wonder they only put 10,000 butts in the stands, that's all the parking they have room for".
@jayballer67 The attendance would be a helluva lot higher if people could actually park somewhere and get to the game. The last game we went to, we parked at Wal-Mart and took an Uber. Really dumb, expensive move on my part. If KU wants a shot at being legitimate - ever - make it easy to get to the stadium.
@nwhawkfan And he still about smoked us...
@kubuckets I haven't read the article. Please tell me it doesn't say
" I DON'T GIVE A SH*T ABOUT NEBRASKA ".
@AsadZ I've never been in a position to turn down "big money", although whatever Leipold is making at KU is ginormous money compared to my salary.
Having said that - from what very little I know about this guy, he wants to prove people wrong. How many folks do you think told him " Oh God, not Kansas. Hold out for a good job "?
I think he wants to prove he can win - even at Kansas. I hope he proves me right.
@Gorilla72 Nebraska seems like a bigger rebuilding job than Kansas.
Here's my take - I've seen a couple of people predict a close game with KU losing by 3-6 points. WTH? If it's that close and we're all just guessing anyway - let's guess a KU win.
KU - 21
WVU - 17
Of course. In what world does a 2-10 record NOT get you a contract extension??
@Gorilla72 Good Lord - does CBS think it's basketball season?
@kubuckets Too bad they're not that aggressive on the field....
@mayjay I was a Green Bay Packers fan when I was a little kid (hey - I didn't know any better). But by 1968, I was a full fledged Chiefs fan. I was always very, very impressed - even at that young age - with Len Dawson's character. He wasn't a beat his chest, run his mouth jerk - he seemed like a genuinely good guy. Nothing that I ever knew of, in his football career or broadcasting career ever changed my mind. He seemed like the real deal.
I told a friend today that Len Dawson was my first sports hero. RIP Len.
@approxinfinity You're welcome! I really hope you like it. I'm a big fan of documentaries and this is a really good one.
@approxinfinity If you like adventure - watch 14 Peaks: Nothing is Impossible.
Absolutely. Frickin. Unbelievable.
@bskeet And the National Diabetes Foundation. And Dentists.
@wissox Be glad I went to bed at halftime. You would not have wanted to see my halftime speech. Wait - it would have been deleted anyway.
I still claim responsibility for the win. Had I not gone to bed, we would have lost. End of story.
This will be the "chip" this team needs to get to the BCS Championship Game.
@Jethro So sad. I wish he were like me and never made a poor decision at that age. Or at 64.
@wissox I heard a stat 25 - 30 years ago that stated in the previous year (whatever year it was), Canada had 50 gun related deaths. The U.S. had 50 in the first HOUR of that following year.
@wissox "This is insanity that we allow this to continue".
That says it all, brother. We ALLOW it. I interrupt people all the time (dear God - all the time?) when they are talking about the sickness and depravity of mass killers. I say - quit wasting your breath. Quit working yourself up. Nobody gives a ****. Your government doesn't. The NRA doesn't. The only people who care are the families of those who are getting shot and those of us who empathize with them.
Why do other countries not have this issue? It seems to be pretty much an American sickness. I don't care if a person has 1,000 guns. But let them be 12ga, 20ga, 410ga shotguns. I'll take my chances against that. Who in the hell needs an AK-47 or an AR-15? A sick, twisted person - that's who. I don't want to hear about the second amendment. When that was written they were using MUSKETS! Ok - use all the damn muskets you want. I'm good with that.
For those of us who are inclined, we need to pray for America. We're quickly disintegrating into the worst country on the planet.
I'd like to hear about any Jayhawks T-shirts/caps/bumper stickers that you all enjoy, whether they're complimentary or not so much.
I saw a beautiful young gal at the Garden of the Gods a few days ago wearing a bright purple t-shirt that said: Partnership for a Jayhawk free America
I'm not sure she knew what it meant but I thought it was funny and asked her if she had it made immediately after KU won their last National Championship. We had a fun conversation....
