I'm bracketed. didn't seem too weird.
The gang’s all back: JuJu returning as well.
Sounds like Kareem Hunt is back too.
The RB room seems set with Pacheco, Hunt, Mitchell and maybe a late round RB draft pick?
Pretty much zero contribution from Rylan and AJ tonight. Deal breaker.
Not so fun with the box score!
A few startling stats tonight.

I'm just worn out thinking if we somehow come back and win that we have to play a tougher opponent tomorrow and then another tougher opponent Saturday. It'd be exhilerating, but wow, daunting.
Remember when WE used to be the tougher opponent?
@BeddieKU23 said in Central Florida 3. Not UCF.:
Rylan is 22/75 from the field (29%) since February started. He hasn't played like a starter in almost 2 months outside a play or 2 a game. Don't get it with him
Even though I’ve stated earlier I’d like to see AJ start, I’m not sure I’d want to switch Rylan and AJ at this point, but it’s difficult to watch Rylan put the ball on the court in his spastic way.
If we can get him an open shot, that would help.
Now if AJ has back to back good games…I say presto chango Remy March Madness time.
Watch out Mahomes, Minshew Mania is in da house!!!!
Fun with the box score!
Nothing real shocking tonight. Lots of similarity though. Stats nearly identical.

Haphazard line-ups tonight. Storr has given up multiple wide open threes.
In defense of Storr, giving up wide open 3s is kinda our thing. Blame all around many times over.
I was very excited about Storr’s play tonight. I know going in not to expect much on D. That changes your perspective for the better. If he makes a play, great. Kinda like not having high hopes of KJ making any guarded shot near or under the basket. If he does, I’m elated (lobs not included).
But this team, Jesus! It’s like digging a grave with a spoon. They make things soooo much harder than they need to with brain dead play! Even the announcers were like, wtf are these guys doing??? Value the ball. Slow down. Keep possession.
But a win’s a win. We need em. On to Arizona.
Go Hawks!

Can't believe it's March and i'm still pondering this, but what IS our team identity?
Hard nosed on defense? Post play? Running? Half court?
I'm not even sure i can say.
In year's past it's been way easier.
@dylans said in Chiefs offseason:
@rockchalkjayhawk Fair enough. 10 pressures and 1 sack in 4 games is about what Patrick faced per game on the left side last year though. I’d be happy with league average.
yep. fingers crossed.
But i think the Elijah Mitchell signing was excellent!
He did very well when healthy. when healthy being the key phrase ...
@dylans said in Chiefs offseason:
Jaylon Moore is the LT for the next couple years. I like this pickup. He played very well spelling a hurt Trent Williams. 27 years old and healthy. I’m glad the Ravens sewed up Stanley early!
Hmmm. A Big hmmm on this signing. As a guy who lives in the Bay Area and watches the 49ers, too...their line was close to the same mess as the Chiefs line.
Not sure this was a good signing. Moore is totally unproven. Big gamble. Big big gamble.
@kjayhawks said in Chiefs offseason:
@rockchalkjayhawk I honestly didn’t want him back, good run stopper but terrible in coverage.
The fan base seems to be split about his skills. too slow in coverage for some, a great QB of the defense for others.
@kjayhawks said in This is The Feel Good Edition KU-AZ:
@rockchalkjayhawk I want no part of Auburn, that I will tell you
Nope!
I'm seeing clearly now that we want to avoid a 7-8 seed in the NCAAs. Rough facing a 1 or 2 seed that early, so a 6 seed would be sooo much better.
I hope the team can indeed build some momentum and get to the final of the Big 12 tourney.
And it looks like the Chiefs have now locked up Nick Bolton for three more years.
Some interesting moves so far. Lots thought he would move on to the Bengals.
@rcjhdraft said in This is The Feel Good Edition KU-AZ:
I like the big 12 tourney draw. Finals run feels doable
Yup, looks like a reasonable draw. We seem to avoid the big boys til late.
Left tackle update:
Ravens are re-signing Ronnie Stanley, who was rumored to be an option for the Chiefs.
Back to the drawing board.
Whew. Worthy will not be charged for now. It's possible if they gather more evidence later though.
“After further investigation by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and further discussion with a third-party witness, Mr. Worthy and his attorneys, this case is being declined at this time pending completion of the investigation by the Williamson County Sheriff's Office," reads an email from Dick's office. "Mr. Worthy and his lawyers are fully cooperating with this investigation.
Truly fun with the box score!
There's some positive stuff in here, except one pretty bad stat.
FGA
KU 67
Arizona 55
Nice to see us take way more shots for once.
ASSISTS
KU -- 22
3P FGA
KU -- 8-21

Also nice to take and make more!
The Not So Good Stat
Two bench points for KU today. aargh.
POINTS
Hunter -- 33
Zeke -- 20
Two guys with 20+. Excellent.
One interesting Arizona stat
Caleb Love -- 40 min played. Did not come out!
Doh!
Have we sunk so low that nobody's even started a game thread? sigh.
Hoping the "seniors" can bring home a W today.
And now for some good offseason news!
We resigned Hollywood! yay.
Jeebus. That's no good. Agreed, can we just go one offseason without some sort of arrest or chaos? Oh well. Sound like self defense, but we'll see.
“The complainant was asked multiple times over the last two weeks to vacate Mr. Worthy’s residence upon discovery of her infidelity, which a private investigator has video evidence of. She has refused to vacate the residence and made a number of extortive efforts prior to resorting to this baseless allegation against Mr. Worthy.
“The complainant further destroyed a room in the residence, scratched Mr. Worthy’s face and ripped out parts of his hair, which there is photographic evidence of. Mr. Worthy told law enforcement at the time of the incident he did not want to press charges against the complainant.

@nuleafjhawk I honestly don't know why you are even posting at this point. Nothing but curmudgeony stuff comes out of your mouth. And we're talking about beloved, tumor-ridden KU alum Gary Woodland. cmon, man!
Back to mute you go.
Hey, is anybody watching Full Swing on Netflix?
Just watched the Gary Woodland episode. Very powerful. A great behind the scenes glimpse into his struggle.
Holy crapola! just seeing the Thuney trade. wow. very surprising. wow!
hmm. We sure hope Veach knows what he's doing here.
Not so fun with the box score!
A couple of super shocking stats here.
FGAs
KU — 42
Houston — 68
Offensive rebounds
KU — 5
Houston — 17
Boneheaded play after boneheaded play after boneheaded play.
It’s just beyond frustrating for the experienced guys we have.
KISS! Keep it simple, stupid (s)!
Oh, in hindsight, I wish we could have BENCHED Zeke for all road games.
@BeddieKU23 said in It's time (Irrational thought of the day):
Personally, I don't think he's the answer nor has he earned more time at this point but understand where your coming from with the request.
I mean, he entered the game and immediately headed to the basket agressively and drew a foul? That's like unheard of for KU this year. Then he was yanked for whatever infraction Self could come up with.
We NEED that kinda play.
I'll take that every time over whatever oddly angled floater Dajuan attempts.
Real man basketball.
More AJ! I don’t care what position he plays. Just let him drive the ball. That seems to be his superpower, even though we rarely get a chance to see it. Somebody other than Dajuan has to drive the lane. Please.
Big games for Oubre and Grimes today for Philly. 20 and 44.
A side note for inspiration:
I just looked at the record book for 40-yard dash times. In the top 20 times, there's like one name of significance (other than Xavier Worthy): Chris Johnson, RB.
So, maybe not that big a stink.
Ooh, now you got me looking at the 40 times...bad for KU today?
Cobee Bryant: 4.56
Mello Dotson: 4.59
@kjayhawks said in Chiefs offseason:
Anyone see Neal’s 40 time…4.6 one of the slowest RBs 😳. My biggest Neal complaint was his top end speed. I still think he can be a solid back at the next level but worried that could drop him back a few picks.
Ah, that's too bad. I hope it doesn't hurt his draft round status too bad. I thought i noticed his top end speed wasn't the greatest. But, he's patient and shifty. Good qualities.
We played a quality opponent today. So, not a total shame to lose. But at home, i expect us to win them all.
I'd guess we all agree that two things stood out today: Defending the 3 pt line, and Zeke's poor play.
It wasn't a piss poor effort, but the above items made it look worse.
If teams are forcing Juan and KJ to take the majority of shots, something's wrong.
If Zeke is in the crapper, something's wrong.
The fix? Let's play AJ Storr, and use him as a volume shooter. We've barely seen his offensive skills put to use this year. I think he can drive the lane with enthusiasm. Give him the ball and get out of the way!
Why not. Can't be that much worse, right? (ha)
I know there will be issues elsewhere, but is his defense that much worse than Zeke's?
We got nothing to lose really.
I saw the Hunter Dickinson free hot dog promotion. Good for him.
OH, and JT Toppin...wow. I actually thought Flory would be the perfect defender against him. He was awesome. Jeez.
Not so fun with the box score!
I may just leave it at one stat today. Horribly, inexcusably, game-alteringly glaring.
3PT%
Texas Tech (just the first half!!!!!) 10-24 -- 41.7%
Texas Tech (total) -- 15-43 -- 34.9%
KU (total) 4-18 -- 22.2%
Bill Self may be the most stubborn man on the planet. Switching and doubling down low is and has been killing us for years. Guys are just WIDE open on the perimeter. Are Athletic Directors allowed to have a come to jesus chat with coaches???
The women have been playing in the She Believes tourney this week. They brought an inexperienced, youthful side mostly. There were many faces I didn’t recognize. One player looked good I thought: Stentnor?? Not sure of the spelling.
She was great on the ball. Creative. That’s a much needed skill. Attack, attack, attack. Loved it.
As much as I so far bad mouth Maccario, she had a beautiful assist. They had her at striker, too. She looked less ball hoggy there.
They lost to Japan in the last game. Japan looked super duper sharp. I assume their 11 was full of regulars.
Per Trey Smith: Some are speculating it sets the stage for a tag and trade.
And the BIG news of the day:
Chiefs will franchise tag Trey Smith.
Big surprise from what I’ve been reading.
Ha. Saw that one too. The off-season NFL is fun!
It’d be a $24M dead cap space hit. So, doesn’t seem to make sense.
@Bosthawk said in Man is KU is really going to stomp Colorado tonight!:
kJ’s flying dunk over Zac is my favorite slam of the year..
Hunter lumbering down the court for a slam has to be in contention.
