@kuballin10 Every national champion has a we wouldn't have won if such and such had happened. It happened. We're thrilled. Join the fun.
Imagine if Wilt had been allowed to play as a freshman? Another chance at a KU title?
Imagine if Raef's 3 had found the bottom of the net. Would the most talented KU team have defeated Arizona in OT and gone on to win Roys first?
Imagine if Dr. James Naismith had put the hoop 8 feet high instead of 10?
Imagine if Danny had the possibility of being a OAD?
Imagine Archie Marshall doesn't get hurt during the FF game against Duke in '86. Does KU win it all and Danny goes pro?
Imagine if Larry Brown doesn't cheat, do we get Roy?
Imagine if the ref correctly rules JoJo doesn't step out of bounds, are we the team to play Texas Western's foil in Glory Road?
Imagine if tuition at the University of Wisconsin was in line with KU's, I wouldn't be writing this right now because I'd have gone to Madison instead.
Imagine if Drew Gooden stays around 1 more year, does Roy leave Lawrence on top?
Imagine if the Big 8 had remained would we have missed the Kevin Durant show in AFH?
Imagine if our guys had kept their composure in 2013, could we have beaten Louisville or would the refs favor them against us too?
Imagine if Covid doesn't happen does KU win in 2020?
Imagine if Covid doesn't happen do we miss Remy Martin coming here and helping us win the whole darn thing?
Imagine if the refs don't call a loose ball fall on Devante Graham in 2016 against Villanova, do we win that game and win it all?
Imagine if (this will blow your minds) student athletes in NCAAB stay at their original school mostly for 4 years. Imagine Joel and Andrew sticking around town for 4 years.
Imagine if east coast bias didn't exist.
Imagine if ESPN allotted 2:15 for their games instead of 2:00.
Imagine if Fran liked KU.
Imagine if Jayhawks were not mythical creatures.
Imagine if KU's football stadium was at the top of the hill and the view out the end zone was spectacular?
Imagine if the view out the windows in Watson library to the SW weren't stunning.
Imagine if AFH was deemed unprofitable and torn down for something 'modern'?
Imagine if Missouri wasn't a slave state.
Imagine if Ayton had come to KU or Zion
Imagine if Al Gore had not invented the internet and @approxinfinity had not known how to manipulate it to our benefit?
Imagine if @BShark and @Kcmatt7 didn't pay attention to every twit ever tweeting about anything remotely relating to who's coming to KU?
Imagine if @drgnslayr wasn't born with an eternal optimism?
Imagine if everyones sister @Crimsonorblue22 didn't master brilliant responses in 3 words or less?
Imagine if @mayjay2 or is it @mayjay wasn't a brilliant legal mind and we were all allowed to rant and froth with our conspiracy theories?
Imagine if so many others didn't keep it light and lively?
Imagine if the length of this post blows up the internet?
Imagine if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about?
Imagine if Trump was a raving lunatic on the left instead of the right?
Imagine if Kentucky didn't give up the title for most wins during our NC run?
Imagine if Wayne Simiens shoulder wasn't hurt in 2003?
Imagine if Jerrod Hasse's shooting wrist wasn't seriously hurt before we faced Arizona in 97?
Imagine if we'd just made four more FT's against Syracuse or McNamara had made just 1 less 3?
Imagine if Scheyer is a bust at Duke and the program sinks into mediocrity?
Imagine if KU joins the BIG.
Imagine if KState elevates their hoops program into a worthy rival for us.
Imagine if @BeddieKU23 didn't have a brilliant hoops mind for x's and o's.
Imagine if I ran out of words to say. I think I just did, imagine that.
@BShark I think you forgot alltime great misspelled name Jayhawk Andrew Higgins
Some of you are acting like McCullers is a sure thing to be in Lawrence next season. Why are you so confident?
Sox win game 5ive. Sox printing World Series tickets after dominating the Kansas Royals today.
Hilarious!
Doubleheader, Royals struck out a lot and left a bunch of guys on base in scoring position. In the 8th our train wreck reliever Joe Kelly gave up a hit and two walks and then got three guys out.
Game 2 Sox lineup was emasculated by our ancient losing his mind manager by taking out Jose Abreu and Tim Anderson leaving us little margin for error offensively and lost, although our 3B coach foolishly challenged Benitendi's arm and he threw a guy out at the plate with our best hitter, Luis Robert coming up killing the inning.
@Gorilla72 Oh I agree. Nothing better in sports than a double header!
Cheap baseball owners rarely give fans the pleasure of observing a true double header. You want to see both games today? a. hide in a bathroom stall, or b. leave the park and buy another ticket. MLB keeps losing ground to the NFL and NBA, although it still is the 2nd most popular sport among fans, even if the TV networks don't know that. But when they make fans pay twice in a day, it's no wonder they're losing ground.
Royals fired their hitting coach Terry Bradshaw before yesterdays game. Hired a new one today. MLB batters get a coach fired. The last great batting coach was Charlie Lau who taught George Brett how to hit.
Royals kind of Witty I see, or is it Whitty?
Game 1 to the Sox. Former Royal great Jonny Cueto got called up as he fills in for injured Lance Lynn. Pitched well for nearly 6 innings, ran out of gas, but unscored on. Sox stud reliever Graveman wasn't a stud last night and he coughed up a 3-0 lead and in extras Luis Robert hits a bomb with the Manfred runner on 2nd and Sox win 5-3.
Double header today. Good pitching matchup in game 1. In game 2 its' the ever popular TBD for the Sox against Slinger who's been giving up more runs than the third starter on a 5th grade little league team.
@drgnslayr It wasn't the under 6' league. That's the league I'm in.
Lockout postponed some games.
MLB says we're going to pack 5 games into four days this week.
Sox have 3 off days over 8 day stretch starting next Monday. Maybe they could have figured out how to avoid 2 open dates on Memorial Day weekend for the Sox. Yes, Friday, and Monday of that holiday weekend are open dates.
Unbelievable.
And after battling you all Sox go to NY to face the powerful Yanks. Gonna be a tough week of baseball from my perspective.
@AsadZ Grady Wilson? We're counting on this guy? (he's a Sanford and Son character) !05f0bcd3-8cdf-490a-baec-3c4f090792da-image.png ↗
I'm thinking Illinois and Kansas played a regular season game in Chicago in the early 2000's. Turns out it was before Bill Self. 1998.
I've thought a lot about Bill Self and Illinois since he left Champaign and what might have happened had he stayed put. I think Bill Self was recruiting superbly during his time there. That 05 team (which Weber coached) was an awesome team. After that the talent that Bill could have just gotten by staying in state would have been incredible. While you can't assume they all would have gone to Illinois, you can imagine Rose, Parker, Okafor, Collins, Alexander, Patrick Beverly, Evan Turner, Unibrow, Brunson, Wright, Jamari, DDot, Scheyer, Charlie Moore!, oh Frank Kaminsky!! and so many others I'm forgetting staying in state. I'm thinking Bill has his two or three rings if he'd stayed there instead and the BIG doesn't have this stigma of not being able to win the big one either. But I'm glad he's gotten his at KU.
Good for him but I don't like it.
@bskeet I'm thinking Bennett and Drew have chances to join Bill as multiple NC winners. Could Mark Few break through and win, and suddenly the pressure is off and he picks up more? Although I really don't like Arizona their young coach seems to be decent and is only 47.
I saw a remarkable Instagram thing today. Since 2000 each Big 12 teams best and worst record. About 6 or 7 teams had over 30 wins in a season which is pretty remarkable in our strong league. In addition KU's worst was a 21-9 last year. Every other teams worst year in that time was under .500.
I did enjoy watching the Villanova game, but only because I was there in person, the game you want to see the most besides a NC is a game to get to the FF and so the Miami game was my top. A breathtaking beatdown that must be still haunting Jim Larranaga, and of course Charlie Moore.
This definitely was a legacy defining win, although the cloud over the program will help determine how firm that legacy is. I wish they'd get it over with.
@Gorilla72 It's a draw for sure, but it was really brutal.
@Gorilla72 Yes definitely. Last night was cold too, but with clear skies and the lowest were about 20 so the spray in the sky was really a negative for a lot of people.
@Kcmatt7 I recognize all of that and while I'm in the middle, the part I missed was the basketball discussion. For that I appreciated him.
@Crimsonorblue22 said in Positive/Feel Good Stuff:
Saw on espn there's a you tube video of the 3 of them in the dugout. The kid is crying the whole time. I was hoping he'd sign his ball or give him some souvenirs.
This is why I should read all comments before posting my own!
I had the day off yesterday so Tuesday afternoon I looked at Stubhub and saw Cubs-Sox in Wrigley for only 10 bucks which is unheard of for any Cub game let alone Cubs-Sox. Getting home late Tuesday night was really no problem
Maybe they were the 25 MPH north winds with drizzle blasting the stands that made the prices so low? 44 degree game time temps which made the windchill in low 30's? It was cold, it was wet, it was windy. I went and had a blast as the Sox pitching was great.
Sox have set a dubious record. They've played 18 of their 23 games in temps below 55 at game time. I have no clue why anyone would keep track of such things but someone does. This spring is setting numerous records around here for misery, coldest, wettest, cloudiest, etc. A dearth of beautiful spring days is leading to mid 80's next week, so I guess summer will start then, and I'm glad for it, but it's really nice to have some days in the upper 60s/lower 70s for a week or two to ease into things.
@tis4tim Yesterday they brought the kid and the fan who gave him the ball to the Yankees dugout to meet Aaron Judge. Aaron Judge makes me mad because he absolutely destroys White Sox pitching and I'll be at the Sox Yanks game next week and I know he'll ruin my evening, but he seems like a genuinely really good guy too.
I miss some others too. Hoping I don't offend someone and leave them out.
The disperser of all thumbs up Red Rooster. The knowledgable HEM. The one and only @DoubleDD. The spectacularly amazing "hide yo kidz" @dyn0mitehawk. @dylans, GlobalJay, @JayHawkFanToo. The guy who got me tickets to the NC in NOLA in 2012 was from this group, his name had MD in it I believe. @stupidmichael who was always scared. @VailHawk he was a good one here too, lots of good things to say.
The guy who told us Self would never win another Natty like a month before he did, haven't seen him which is fine with me. I'd hide too if I'd made such a silly proclamation.
The 4 different variations of @jayballer54 @jayballer67 @Jayballer72 @jayballer73 Not sure which is which right now! (i put my passwords in cryptic language on an app on my phone so I don't forget)
Am I missing anyone? There were a few from the KUSports who didn't come over with us
As a boy I watched Amos Otis a lot playing the Yankees whom I liked while growing up outside NYC. He was a terrific part of those great late 70's Royals teams.
@tundrahok sounds like the guy in never cry wolf!
@tundrahok Interesting story! Can I ask what you were doing up in the Arctic? If I'm prying too much just say nunya and I'll stop! Just curious.
One thing I learned about T-Shirts and championships. Wait til the season is over to choose the shirt and which championship to celebrate. Like buying a shirt with us in the FF this year is cool enough, and it might be worthwhile to wear in Kentucky and point out which blue blood was missing from the FF, but really, the 2022 championship T shirt is the one I want to wear. If they don't win, but make the FF then great, wear the shirt proudly. If you're Missouri you don't have to worry about these conundrums. If you're Minnesota's dweebish football coach PJ Fleck you make one up for tying for the BIGwest, but losing to Wisconsin in the tiebreaker game so really finishing 2nd...in the west. Sad but true!
@approxinfinity 22 National champs, 12 National runners up, 02 FF 92 upset loss between FF appearances, 52 National Champs. Good things happen in 2 years and of course 88 and 08 (and 18). Of course that doesn't give us much hope for the next 6 years does it?
Johnny Jockstrap comes in to play QB as a top recruit to one of the four schools allowed to qualify for the CFP. But he surprises everyone by choosing KU instead of Clemson, or gasp, Bama. He gets an 8 million$ deal because you know, the other guy did. JJ is now a very rich freshman and he starts using some of that money to convince $ome friend$ to come to KU. I mean, just hook em up with a bit of cash, who will ever know? Not like he's a booster living in the KC burbs, he's a KU football player, an insider obviously. What's stopping these sorts of shenanigans from happening? I admit, my eyes glaze over whenever they talk about money in sports so I don't follow it closely. But this whole thing is changing the two college sports we all follow. Transfers? The worst change to college sports maybe ever.
@Jethro I've been waiting for this. I forgot to hit record on the championship game, dumb me.
@Texas-Hawk-10 That's even more amazinger!
@Jethro Umm, no awarding yourself anything, although we can award other posters, which is what I thought this post was about when I saw the headline.
On 2nd thought, we better not award anyone anything except for @approxinfinity who is the true GOAT for his rescuing us and somehow finding us after we all bolted from the KUSports thing. I remember just thinking all of a sudden like these online folk have been a part of my life for years and now they're all gone but I somehow got contacted by someone to come to the Bucket. Many thanks for Mr. Approxinfinity!!!
Above wouldn't edit, so changed it to this more amazing facts. Most championships among siblings Chris Teahan and his much older bro who won in 2008 and also played in the NC game in 2012. Undoubtedly they're the only brothers in KU history to win national championships, even more remarkable that they were both walk ons.

Former Jayhawk but still in college player of the year award? I guess since Charlie helped lead his team to the final 8, I award it to Charlie Moore!
@Jethro I wish you would've, those ladies did some damage to me.
@dylans said in What's our fate?:
@DanR I admitted to something I didn’t do as a 5 year old and I’m still miffed about that forced confession decades later.
Hmmm, we might have gone to school together! Thanks for whoever confessed to de-airing the principals tire.
@Jethro I saw that. Baseball has a problem. Maybe more of that will help improve ratings and draw in the younger generation!
@Texas-Hawk-10 Thanks for the fact check, had never heard that aspect of it.
@drgnslayr His parents are Wisconsin grads and he was thought to be headed to Wisconsin at one point if my memory is correct.
@Crimsonorblue22 Another senior or seniors (counting Big Dave and Remy) leading their team to a national championship. Been a while since a OAD laden team has won it. Maybe Duke in 2015 was the last?
@bskeet We beat Louisville twice that season! You can look it up and if the refs hadn't whistled 26 fouls against us against Duke, and only 14 against them we might have played them a 3rd time.
@Texas-Hawk-10 yeah I wasn’t sure who you were referring to.
@BeddieKU23 OK, I'll kick start yours with a dollar.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Wisconsin might struggle next year.
@JAYHAWKFAN214 @BShark I feel sorry for those kids. Competing for your town and school with your friends is fun. You can become a local legend as many do of course. But leaving home at an early age just so you can increase your recruiting profile seems odd.
I'm gonna start a go fund me so I can go.
@BShark Do they compete in the regular Kansas HS association (or whatever it's called)? I'm guessing they don't because they recruit and all that, but I've been curious. Are all of their games just road games at other 'schools' like IMG, Brewster and all the others?
Gradey Dick, and now Wilder Evers. This recruiting class is bringing us some interesting names. Wilder is a walk on but here's hoping we get to hear his name a few times on broadcasts.
