I'm a little behind, but I just saw the worst charge call in the history of all basketball.
@mayjay It does bring to mind the statement of the NCAA quite a while ago that KU is a victim in all of this. If we're the victim, I'd like to see how it feels to be the perp.
Read the NYPost article and I was expecting a hit piece on Bill Self. It was really about quite a few coaches, including Self.
I think when people say the NYTimes is trash they're referring to their political tilt. Which is one direction, although not as bad as it used to be in my opinion.

I'm still kind of hopeful Bennett winds up at Wisconsin where he's from.
So I saw Cronin's name now with Mack. Seriously, anyone know of the history of these two clowns? First class jerks in my view. Their teams In Cincy were always fighting, arguing, posing, etc. I'd be chagrined to say the least if KU hired either one of them.

The seasons blend together in my mind, but it seems like the league in at least a few of our championships has folded come crunch time handing us the title. Yesterday gives me a little hope that the team will still be able to pull this off.

I've been trying to figure out how to respond to the whining comment last night since it was directed at me (without mentioning my name!) Do you believe that Ayton's recruitment to Arizona was legit? I just read that Miller was not on tape before Ayton's commitment talking about how to get him here, but he was still on tape talking to sleazy characters about getting other recruits. Of course our coach was on tape with similar discussions as I recall. The situations seem somewhat equal to me. Except the consequences of course. And an NCAA that all the time is looked at with suspicion (see the Cam Newton saga) when it comes to certain leagues and regions seems to be guilty as charged.
But my wife will tell you that I am a whiner too so maybe I'm guilty as charged.
Can some one remind me what transpired with Silvio last season? We held him out, the NCAA held him out,? I forget, but didn't the NCAA then rule he was good to go or was it a transcript issue and not a money issue? I forget.
No word on the KC paper or Lawrence paper this morning about Marcus. Maybe it's not that bad. Maybe some of you Twits can check Twitter.

A couple of names worth keeping an eye on: Will Wade at LSU is showing some ability as a coach. I really like what he is doing there, but the locals, as I well know, don't really care all that much, so he could be a hot commodity, and he's still very young. The guy appears to be a great recruiter as well. Take a look at NBA draft boards and see the LSU names on there.
Maybe Brad Stevens will realize that the NBA is structured that all of the elite players just go to the elite teams and they're all in the west. The NBA championship will reside there for the next half decade until Joel's Sixers mature into a championship outfit. 5 years is a long time to wait. He can come here and compete for Natty's immediately.
I don't have a finger on the assistant coach scene. Obviously there are some out there who will become successful head coaches.
@HighEliteMajor I know it sounds like I'm anti rules. But the injustice is more in the inequities in the way the NCAA punishes some and skates on the others. See my post just above on Arizona. Some throw allegations about Duke, and Zion, and his mom, and UNC and their scandal. But we get nailed, and as you said, maybe we get punished too.
I just went back and read about the Arizona mess last year. It was 97,500$ worse than what happened with Silvio's guardian, not coach. Sean sat one game. Ayton, no games obviously. How is this even close to being fair?
I just read the story on ESPN. My blood is boiling. Not just because we lose a great player, but because he does nothing wrong, didn't even know about anything wrong being done, and the NCAA says it doesn't matter he didn't know, he's still responsible. What an injustice.
@Kcmatt7 I know we're all upset, but not sure how his life is ruined? Very hopeful he'll get paid for his skill someday soon. Not sure where that will be.

Someone brought it up on another page, but some sports talk guy was rumoring Self to the Spurs next year. I didn't hear it, haven't looked into, but let's just pretend he got some inside scoop. Who do you like for the job? Lots of good candidates out there. Their qualifications are simple. Recruit non OAD elite players to KU, be a potential HOF coach, and catch and pass Kentucky on the all time win list. Win some natty's. Keep the KU brand in the highest consciousness of college hoops fans and media.
@DanR I've spent some cold days when I lived in Northern Wisconsin and this cold blast comes close to equalling what I experienced there.
@Fightsongwriter IDK about that. Doke didn't beat top ranked Tennessee by himself. We have some talent. I'm optimistic this turns around somehow or another.

SuperDuper cold here in Chiberia. -40-50 wind chills. Furnace not keeping up. Everyone stayed home today. Obviously a lot of you are out in the Dorothy's state, but just curious if it's impacting you too. And sure, some of you basking in warmer climes, go ahead and post, it'll make us feel warmer!
Just for fun, I can think of a few worse games. We got totally owned at OSU in the mid 90's. It was about a 30 point beatdown.
Loss to Northern Iowa. We were horrible that game. One of the few KU games I ever turned off.
The game at WVU where Wiggins scored 40 something. Awful beatdown.
The Kentucky loss in the 1st game of the year a few years ago. Big stage, embarrassing result.
I don't think tonight came close to any of those. Like I said above, a fairer called game and we have a chance despite our lousy play.
Magical things can happen in March. No one saw KState in the elite 8 last year against Loyola, remember? Obviously I don't see a deep run like the rest of you now either, but it can happen.

So I got back and this is what I saw. Putrid offense combined with unbelievably bad officiating and some defensive lapses leads to an ugly defeat.
How do refs not call a foul on a team for about 25 minutes of clock time? Seriously, I know we can blame ourselves, but I put this one on officials. Texas was causing so many turnovers by fouling. Reaching right in and fouling. I'm not even positive we win if it was evenly called, but I sure would have liked to have seen us have a chance.
And of course I blame the NCAA who treat us and Duke unfairly. We lose questionable players every year, Duke doesn't with similar questions, and then everyone fawns all over Duke how great they are. We've been pretty good for a long time thanks to Self, but it's hard to compete with the elite.
Rant over, looking forward to the next action whenever that is.

2 or 3 is preferable to a 4 obviously because you avoid the 1 seed until the regional final. That matters more to me than having either a 2 or 3.
@kjayhawks I had watched the Badgers, KU and was burned out on hoops so I decided not to watch. I wish I had though.
I've never known KU with a bad coach. I'm not sure what the consensus was about about Ted Owens, but since Larry came we have had 3 hall of fame coaches. Remarkable indeed. Of course some of the others can claim HOF coaches too, but we're pretty spoiled.
Missouri choked away a 14 point lead with 2:03 left yesterday against LSU.
