@Fightsongwriter People said that about Steph too.
I don't think anyone even blinks when it happens with Duke lol. They also have a +25 and +26.

@BShark well, your going to have to forgive me on the actual time line in years, in terms of how long its actually been for such a lopsided foul calling game. Needless to say, its been a while.
Duke had a +30 FTA game this year.
OU being ranked and KSU not being ranked is hilarious and sad. Trae effect!!!
We need to bury OU tomorrow night.

I thought OU had a very high ceiling watching them last year, and that was without Young. I think James, McNease, Doolittle and McGusty have all fallen short of my expected progression. And Lattin hit his ceiling, then reverted because this season is lost.
I think Trae Young has been a bad fit for Oklahoma. I think his brand of hero ball has resulted in a lack of teamwork and has not allowed others to play through their mistakes. I think Lon's giving in to letting Trae shoot half their shots has been a grievous error in judgement, even if Lon is capable of being a good coach and usually is one.
I also don't like Trae Young's thought process, saying things like "I'm getting guarded like no man in this country". To me, this freshman needed a dose of humility he didn't get, and Lon has failed him.
I agree wholeheartedly with you @jaybate-1-0 that a year under Self would have been much better for him. I'm not convinced that a year of Trae Young would have been much better for us.
McGusty is actually worse this year. The problem with Lattin is he doesn't get enough looks. He is fairly efficient this year and solid on d as always.
Interesting take on the whole situation. Honestly seems like Young could have used an ass kicking, which Self would not have been afraid to provide. Maybe it worked out best for everyone that he picked OU. I don't need anymore of the Self is an ogre narrative and in the meantime Self is playing a FR that struggles to shoot 20 minutes a game because he does all the little things that Trae can seem at times to be too good for.

@jaybate-1.0 I was listening to Bilas pontificate on the disparity during the game. He, or the other guy, said something like Nothing like this has happened in the past 10-20 years?
Which is just outright not true as I mentioned already but it bears repeating. Only the 7th biggest foul disparity this season.
Looks like his dad got sideways with their coaching staff after his injury. He is a kid KU was very interested in before discovering he would be a partial-qualifier (like BMac and Jamari). He could be a bit of a head case (I think he went to three high schools) but if KU loses Vick and Newman maybe the staff takes a look. Right now he is apparently focusing on "getting healthy and exploring all his options". He could even go pro, but that would probably be in Europe.
@jaybate-1.0 This KU team has 6 games this year with single digit free throw attempts. Never as low as two but still. There would probably be some more but games like A&M we had 11 fta but 3 of those were at the end of the game when A&M fouled on purpose.
Also, tifwiw but this is somehow only the 7th largest free throw disparity this season in college hoops.
Well, his dad wasn't particularly wrong because Self wouldn't want one player shooting as much as Trae does, but he still should not have said that.
@wissox Some crazy people are saying 1 seed but I would agree, likely a 2 or 3 depending on how things shake out. Disaster scenario is 4/5 but that would require a lot of Ls.
@dylans Please keep wearing this hat every game. Tia.
@jaybate-1-0 6 of WVU's 61 shot attempts were at the rim. Not a recipe to get to the line and something we were bemoaning about the current KU team recently.
@Buster-1926 He goes overboard to prove that he isn't biased for KU. Super weird.
@jayballer73 Sam is doing and saying the right things. Makes me think he might tough it out. Someone has to go for Agbaji though. I don't think we get Romeo.
Duke Clemson on right now and WSU Cincy later. Nice day of hoops. Go Clemson go Cincy.
I will be surprised if he doesn't have a LONG NBA career.
Replay is up on youtube for those interested.
@Fightsongwriter If Trae comes back he is making a huge mistake.
At the end of the day WVU is one of the dirtiest teams in all of college hoops so I am never going to feel sorry for them.

@Fightsongwriter When it begins to click with Garrett all the way, and he starts playing up to his potential, watch out. The guy is going to be great on both sides on the ball.
I'm betting he will be one of our most important players year 3/4.
Ty was at the game last night. :grinning:
@Fightsongwriter Yeah, it reminds me of Releford. Just get the three to respectable levels and able to can open threes and it will really help him overall.
@dylans Has Cunliffe made many good plays when he is in? He seems like he just doesn't understand basketball and has the worst hands I have seen for a guard/wing. If he guts it out here I'll be pleasantly surprised. There are some tools there and he could be a good bench contributor years 3-4.
It's hard to draw too many conclusions when he has only played 64 minutes total this season but the word around the program hasn't been very positive about him.

Did you see his comments that Trace Young made yesterday about him being schemed against and defended like no other player anytime, anywhere has been?
Well maybe if OU had better players around him they could take better advantage of this. Lol.
@StLJhawk Garrett is coming along. He always projected out as a 3-4 year player because of his jump shot. I have the upmost confidence that this staff will make him a capable shooter before he is done here provided he puts in the work.
Hopefully now at least everyone understands why he plays over Cunliffe.

Someone OUTLINE the calls we didn't get it. I don't have timeπ I do remember them though, showed them on the big screen too.
In addition to the Garrett one, there was Svi getting dumpstered by Carter. Thanks to @dylans for mentioning that one.
@Crimsonorblue22 PHOF :joy:
That quote right there...Self is gonna like him lol.
Dotson had 26 pts in a come from behind playoff win. They were down 54-45 just a minute into the 4th quarter and won 63-60.
βI just wanted to do it all on the defensive end, lock in on every possession and give it my all, and we came out with a team win.β quote from Dotson
Also I don't fault Doke too much for his flop, he was getting mugged on most screens he set throughout the game. He is big and strong though, so I expect that stuff to go uncalled.
@HighEliteMajor I definitely though that should have been a foul on Doke. I'll have to check the others you outlined.
@Fightsongwriter I'll be back to kind of checking on the box scores and stuff.

No, I didnβt; you seem to indicate the refereeing favored KU which is not the case. Huggins had no reason to be that upset when you look at the numbers in context and why there was disparity; when a team plays like WVU does you should expect disparity in fouls, ergo free throws.
WVU's normal road free throw numbers are 23 fouls by them, 17 by the opponent. Before the technical disaster it was 22-14, and I think there was still at least one deliberate late game foul in there for WVU.
The worst missed call was probably when Garrett got whacked in the head on a drive.
So eager to fire his shot that he forgot to read.

We should all play like Sargent Schultz β βI know NOTH-ING!β
Hogan's Heroes is pretty funny. :D
He is going to go off against us for 40 points now probably.
@DoubleDD Ask Fran! :joy:
@wissox Mellinger is a complete donk.
It would be kind of lame if KU wins the league because Evans is out long term.
Over the course of this season has been something. His jump hook is fairly reliable. I'd like to see him getting at least 10 shots a game.
35-2 free throw descrepency. I'm ready to hear people freak out about that.
