I think Elmarko is genuinely a gem in this class and should be a 5*. The class is very weak as Texas Hawk said but I don't think he is barely top 50 in a normal class.
Not saying they are similar players but in asking around about Elmarko the praise is effusive and it reminds me of when we got Graham. People that know/follow aau/hs ball think he will be a star. Obviously there are no guarantees but I am high on him.
@BeddieKU23 Yeah there are only guards ahead of him right now on 247. Two are headed to Duke and Kentucky. The third might go straight pro and is the #1 overall recruit. USC might be able to get him in for 1 year.
Definitely the top target. The entire final 5 wanted him bad. Beard is not happy about this according to Texas people. I know that at least twice since Elmarko's visit that Bill went up to Connecticut to see him and stopped off in Philly to see his mom. One of these trips was reported, idk if the other was.
Don't believe there is a guy remaining in the HS ranks that we could get that would move the needle at all for us at the 4.

Seems like both Elmarko and Johnson are great players from the little i've seen.
Elite athletic guards. CJ being at a prep this year playing for a tough coach should help with his mentals. Talent wise he is a steal that we didn't have to fight that hard for.

@jayballer67 The staff recruited in the early period to fill Cam, Kevin and JWill spots. Those three will for sure be gone. Everything else is up in the air and we don't know yet. Could see a wide range of other spots being available depending how the year goes.

Yeah Bill loves him that's why he said the comments he did to sell him on staying. Sounds like he's been relatively happy but another year with the same kind of minutes and idk if that would hold up.
There was definitely a real effort to get him in games last year even if the minutes were not big though. I can only think of 2-3 games he didn't get in at all.

Agree I think both KJ and the staff want him at the 3/4 positions. Here's the kicker though, if he doesn't improve his shooting skills playing him at the 3/4 will not be effective & Self will have to get creative again on how he's used (small ball 5, backup to Jalen).
Yeah this is what I was getting at. His shooting and handling have to improve for this level.

@Jethro KJ needs to develop some guard/wing skills if he wants to see the floor. Otherwise he is a specialist that won't get big minutes.

@Crimsonorblue22 No starting bets until practices start. Word on Gradey is positive and it won't surprise me if he starts. We've had a lot of guys that Self made "earn" it.
@Kcmatt7 Yeah maybe not very good is a bit harsh but certainly a bad fit for Self. He is almost budget Remy (except Joe is more interested in defense typically*) in the sense that he is at his best when you "let him cook".
*Complete credit to Remy for cranking up the effort on that end in the post season.
