@mayjay We drove right by the center at least a dozen times that week. We stayed on the Big Island for a few days before going to Maui. I hope you can go, beautiful area, early part of whale watching season too.
@BeddieKU23 I was there the week before last time, my sister set the dates before I knew KU would be there. Good vacation anyway.
@jaybate-1.0 Consensus AA I think. Devontae has achieved that.
@BeddieKU23 A good time to average 25 the next 2 games.
@Gorilla72 That makes more sense.
@BShark If Colby was here Silvio would not reclassify.
@BigBad I am with you, Final Four is Devontae time!
@StLJhawk It is hard to believe Danny only had 107 points. He had over 50 in the Final 4.
@benshawks08 I believe Duke played a 1-3-1 zone for a few minutes which left Allen covering both wings at the baseline. KU carved it up pretty well and they got out of it after a couple of threes. Moving the ball quickly from side to side makes it impossible for the low man to cover.
@stoptheflop Svi played by far the best defense and hit the boards more than I have ever seen from him. I think his shooting was a little below par just from having tired legs (evidenced by being short on several) dealing with a much bigger player in Bagley, but he got the most important shot down.
@jaybate-1.0 SAD BUT TRUE
@wrwlumpy TRIPPY
@jaybate-1.0 I think if you are up 15+ with 10 minutes or so to go and you want to use clock, I think the method should be to bleed about 10 seconds and then run your regular offense. I think when you bleed it down further your offense goes stale as our did and it is very difficult to re-ignite it.
@Kcmatt7 In spots. Coach K too good for prolonged junk I think.
@JayHawkFanToo The difference this year was that most of the upsets happened in 2 regions. Most times Cinderella doesn't get to play another Cinderella in the sweet 16 or Elite Eight.
@BShark Mitch is at a big disadvantage against more powerful players. When the opposing big is more inside/outside he flourishes. He is just out of position in the 4 out 1 we have run all year.
@BShark I think Self likes the underdog role.
@Lulufulu It is kind of interesting that KU beats a "5" seed by 4 (in a game they led by 20) and the pundits say the Hawks are vulnerable. Duke also wins by 4 over an "11" seed, literally the last team in the field, and they are world beaters. East cost bias, you be the judge.
@BeddieKU23 Don't bring up "Ducks" this time of year ...bad mojo!
@jaybate-1.0 I really enjoyed that as someone who was always a fan from afar and never made it to the Phog until he 90's.
@wissox Wow, Scooter was essential for the championship run. You could have ruined it...just kidding. Cool story I am glad you shared.
@wissox It was really two well matched teams. That Duke team was really loaded also, beat us in the pre-season NIT that year too I believe. I think they lost to Louisville in the championship game though.
I think this was when re-seeding gained some ground, most thought the semi was the real championship game.
@Lulufulu Marcus needs some arch on his shot.
DEVONTAE!
@Gunman I see what you did there..very nice!
@justanotherfan I think he meant compared to the other high seeds. Your point is valid though, the lower seeds that won certainly have gone through a gauntlet.
@truehawk93 Vick plays so much better when he hits his first shot. Probably all about confidence.
@FarSideHawk I haven't seen them much but I think either will be a better match-up for our team than SH was.
@BeddieKU23 VIRGINIA
@Kcmatt7 Pretty good for KSU to win without their best big man... oh yeah KU did that too!
@approxinfinity I only watched the last 5 or so minutes of the UVA game, but it appeared the guards were just too quick for Virginia to trap and they penetrated at will.
It reminded me a bit of the UTEP upset of KU back when Jacque and Rex (pretty quick themselves) were out quicked by much smaller guards.
@DanR I thought Vick had more energy than I had seen awhile.
MISSED IT THIS YEAR. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
@JayHawkFanToo I love being correct, but my wife would never believe that I was.
@JayHawkFanToo I believe the first 2 for Wooden was in the AAWU a precurser to the PAC-8.
@BShark Class Act!
Carter is a terrific and intense defensive player but if he finished with 3 fouls you can bet he really had 12 (1 out of 4 called). He constantly slaps arms and grabs. I really held my breath when he was on Vick or Svi because he is so good at stealing the ball. The WV defense reminds me of offensive holding in football, it happens every play but they can't call them all.
Vick has gotten a lot of (deserved) flack for his play in the conference from me and others here. I thought he was very active yesterday particularly on defense, he got his hand on at 4 passes maybe more and got after loose balls. It was really good to see. Keep it up Lagerald!
@jayballer73 Thanks, I am glad someone else knows who Clint is, I was feeling old there for a minute.
We must must must rebound as a team.
@mayjay I see what you did there!
@wissox A kid who never attended the school, if I remember correctly.
@wrwlumpy Never been myself. Enjoy!
@kjayhawks & Rush!
@mayjay Noooo!
@dylans The Achilles Heal for this team was supposed to be depth, but I agree with you that we really struggle with teams that pressure the guards all the way out. We have a lot of trouble getting into any offense at all.
@wissox I think Frank meets the old requirements with consensus national POY and 1st team AA. I don't see DG winning the national award, I think that will go to Brunson from NOVA.
@JayHawkFanToo If the ball is not touched when you throw long the in bounds comes back to where the pass came from.
Jeff Boschee named MIAA coach of the year!
@drgnslayr This team reminds me of the 2012 team. Not so much in the way they play but the way they can get stops and come from behind. 2012 was better overall defensively this team can be more explosive offensively.
