@jaybate-1.0 Just to add a couple of points, the ability to play DeSousa without 3 tournovers per minute and actually have some positive plays has enabled Doke and Mitch to play defense more aggressively. The games they stay out of foul trouble the first half you won't see Silvio much, but the fact that he is available has been a benefit even when he doesn't play.
We have seen a big improvement in drive defense the last couple of weeks, which is a credit to both the guards keeping their man in front and the big guys helping well when they don't.
I thought Clay was really good Monday night. Always in the right place doing subtle things to keep the ball moving and solid on D. I would venture to say he probably outplayed Vick in his short time. Not to say he should be in the rotation, but I just wanted to say "Good Job Clay"!
@BShark I will never forget that DG smile. The sheer joy he showed every time out.
@Crimsonorblue22 CLAY??
@wrwlumpy I believe the recent better play by the team is directly related to your good luck posts!
@BeddieKU23 By the way Boschee has his Missouri Southern State Lions in 2nd place in the MIAA.
@drgnslayr Interesting point about Marcus and his bouncing, because I noticed Malik getting flat-footed while guarding Carter dribbling out front.
@wrwlumpy Biggest upset of the year!
@jaybate-1.0 I would like to see Self let Marcus harass Young when he is in the game tonight.
@drgnslayr good thought
@wissox I don't mind. I really liked the final four team a few years ago.
@joeloveshawks the down side if Kentucky ends up in the NIT is they could go on run to more wins than in the NCAA's. I like that we are gaining on them.
@JayHawkFanToo Nick had the best fundamentals on the block I can think of it would be great to have the son of coach back.
@jayballer73 I look forward to your posts
@BShark I don't think SVI or DG played too bad, I just think they shot poorly.
@jayballer73 DG usually shoots better at the start of the game suggesting tired legs. I would suggest a game plan that he takes some threes at the beginning of each half and then depend more on driving and distributing. My worthless 2 cents.
@wrwlumpy I miss that
@dylans Awesome
@bskeet Glad you got to go.
@BShark I didn't mean serviceable as a negative. I really wanted Self to get him out the 2:30 minutes though.
@BShark They also did some "Poke a Doke" but he was serviceable in this game.
@BigBad TRUE
@Crimsonorblue22 i WAS THERE FOR A&M
@BShark Wow, he has a pretty good basketball mind sitting next to him.
@jaybate-1.0 I will have to re-watch Big Red 1 again, as you say a different point in life.
@Jayballer54 I have thought the same thing about Carter. He repeatedly did that in the little bit of the Kentucky game I saw.
@kjayhawks At least the best to watch since Sayers.
@nuleafjhawk Fabulous!
@BeddieKU23 Last night Sam reminded me a lot of SVI as a freshmen. He looked nervous, for good reason.
@wrwlumpy Barry Sanders was something special to watch!
@HighEliteMajor 3 straight turnovers against OU (2 walks & an offensive foul on a screen) is not a good recipe for playing time. You don't have to have positive plays as a backup, just no negative plays.
@BeddieKU23 Most impressive to me has been Malik's rebounding. It is great to see him being aggressive on both ends. Also, seems to finish very well on the break.
@jaybate-1.0 Thanks, there is no place that compares.
@jaybate-1.0 I think if Mitch gets a few minutes at the 4 that allows a couple more for Silvio for Doke.
@jaybate-1.0 We sure enjoyed being there for the first time in 10 years.
@BeddieKU23 I wonder just how limited the plays are for both offense and defense with Silvio in the game. It could have a lot to do with the short spurts of play for him.
@jaybate-1.0 A&M only had 4 fouls late in the game. When we got to the bonus Mitch came in.
@jaybate-1.0 I think Mitch might get some '4' minutes as a better match-up for Wade.
@BShark That would be sad for Sam. What are the rules for a second transfer?
@wissox I grew up a fan as a Kansas farm boy. My first vague memory is watching a NIT game on a black & white tv with a snowy picture with JoJo playing when I was 7 or 8.
@BeddieKU23 Yes, that is the point. If the opposition has fouls to give from several bigs why let him dunk in your face, foul him early.
@Jayballer54 KK brought up something yesterday on the radio. When the opponent reaches the 1 and 1 in fouls in the first half why wouldn't opposing coaches foul Doke the next 3 times down the floor until they reach the double bonus? It would seem to be a great way to get a stop, especially if KU is on a roll and has the momentum. Doke is unlikely to make more than 1 or 2.
The point being that this might not only be an end game strategy for the rest of the season.
@Crimsonorblue22 My wife and I are going also. We are very excited, first game at the Phog since fall of 2008. Our adult children bought us tickets and hotel room for Christmas.
@BShark I have always been a big fan of Bogart, Casablanca being my favorite. I enjoy some current films but I find excessive CGI a turnoff and a poor substitute for good story telling and writing. I realize I sound like and old fool.
@Jayballer54 agree
@Jayballer54 Gran Torino
@BShark I always wish the best for those who move on
@welladjustedhawk Interesting thought
@Gunman Or...Doke was given Free Throw advice from random fan at the KU dorm.
@wissox I believe Ankiel Not only couldn't throw a strike but repeatedly threw it wildly to the backstop. He threw really well from the outfield though and had a lot of power. A good guy you really wanted to succeed.
@Big-Clyde52 Did Vick start dating the crazy girl again?? Something is up with him.
