@BShark I wish someone would knock Knox's mouth piece up into the cheap seats. Sorry, but if you are going to use one, keep it in your mouth. Should be a rule. They get so picky about a little drop of blood. What is the diff when players take the mouth piece out of their mouth, then handle the ball that everyone else has to handle? Saliva can transmit disease just like blood.

What the hell is with the quick shots??? The clock is also our enemy.

How typical!! Too lazy to get out on the shooters. They are right back in it. Why can't we have ANY killer instinct? Double digit lead you should put them away!!

They will really be on Devonte this half. We need to set some good screens to set Svi and Malik up for some open looks. And they have got to knock them down. Also hope we can drive by their pressure and get to the rim.

@BeddieKU23 Because Garrett can't shoot. Svi can get hot anytime, and he had better get started. We are behind in every category.

@BeddieKU23 Exactly why I did not a #1 seed. Our 3 point shooting can go to hell in a flash. That is what put us out the last two years.

Sure hope we do not have to worry about this for 10+ years.

TIMEOUT!!! Lets get by Penn and make it to the Sweet 16 before we start worrying about Duke or Sparty. S Hall, NC State, Clemson, Auburn, all good teams in our half. Just one flat shooting game and we are out, just like the last two years. Lets go one game at a time and move on, and soon we will be in San Antonio

@Gunman Totally agree. I will be happy to see Frank and DG have jersey's hanging from the rafters with their names on them. However, when talking about faces of KU basketball, I hope no one forgets the fact that Manning and Chalmers were responsible for hanging two other very important banners in the Fieldhouse that are extremely hard to come by. NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!!!

@Kcmatt7 I would say the odds of that happening is next to zero, since Vick has been almost non existent for quite some time. I believe we can still make a good showing with three guards playing well and Doke having a decent game. Especially if we get some surprise help from the bench. That scenario is what has gotten us this far, so hopefully it will continue. It would be nice to win 30 games this season. I would call that pretty successful with what has been dealt to us this year. (Preston, thin bench, etc.)

@bskeet The reason Vick has been so disappointing is we all know he has great athletic ability. Speed, great leaper, when he wants to. He should be driving the ball to the rim and scoring or getting fouled like the other guards. He is just as quick as they are. I do not think he has confidence in his handles and that may be why he is not using all of his ability. I do know if he would assert his will on the defense, we would be a much more powerful offense. At least Garrett is trying to do that as a freshman.

@JayHawkFanToo OU and Young are finding out what it is like to have a target on their back. Getting blown out at halftime. Still may get in the Dance because of all the fuss over Young.

@JayHawkFanToo You need to add Moore to that back court list, and hopefully fit Langford in there somehow. Either way, that is a loaded roster.

@Buster-1926 The bigger fish is Miller at Arizona!!! 100K worth of fish to get Ayton.

@Crimsonorblue22 Good point. With the way Doke has improved, and the strides Mitch and SDS are making, it should give us a much more versatile team to deal with.

@Crimsonorblue22 Yes he does. He is very active with that left arm and it is rarely called.

@wissox Bricking three's is also my greatest concern with this team, as it has been the last few years. Once with Seldon and Mason. Once with Graham and Svi. If you combine that with an opponent that is throwing everything in from the cheap seats, you have a recipe for ending your season. Hopefully it is our turn to be red hot for a long stretch of games. Last night was a good start.

@nuleafjhawk Young also jerks his head and shoulders back while driving to try and dupe the refs into calling a foul. I wonder who learned that move from who???

@HighEliteMajor Agree totally. We have 4 biggest games of the year to play in conference. Check them off one at a time and not look ahead. If we get thru all four, we have #14, and a lock on a #1 seed.

I still think Tech could lose to someone else. A lot depends on Evans getting back to full health.

I still do not believe we deserve a #1 seed at this point. Win out from here, then yeah.

@Kcmatt7 Agreed. Not sure of his minutes at Memphis, but he had some good stats. With a year at KU under their belt, I would think the Lawson's would have a leg up on everyone else. If Doke returns, finding minutes for everyone will be a problem. Should be a good problem but you never know.

@hawkmoon2020 Also Silvio at the 5. If Romeo lives up to the hype he should have no problem beating out most or all of the players at the 3. I am in hopes that KJ will be a major surprise that no one is talking much about.

@Hawk8086 It would be nice if we could get a nice 20+ point lead with around 5-6 minutes left. And Coach could go to SDS and say, "you are finishing out the game. Don't think, just play." It would be better if on the road so he would not have the pressure of the home fans on him. Don't look like that will ever happen, but it is the only way to find out if he is going to get it. Can't happen in practice and damn sure can't happen playing one or two possessions.

@kjayhawks I have been sitting here pondering a couple situations regarding our team since yesterdays game, which I could not finish watching because our play, or lack thereof, made me sick. Spent the last 4 minutes in the bathroom. One is pretty darn good, the other is extremely devastating.

Lets assume that the rumors of dissention on the team are true and that some players have a dislike for each other. A team killer!! We all know that in team sports it takes EVERY member of the team to be pulling on the same rope, at the same time, with the same vigor, to be successful. With that in mind here are the scenarios:

Scenario 1: The dissention and dislike continues among team members and becomes a total disruption of team unity. We finish conference play with an 8-10 record, lose first round of conference tourney, have an 8 or 9 seed and lose first round. Lets be charitable and say we win our homecoming game. Finish 20-13.

Scenario 2: There is no dissention or dislike. The team pulls together and finishes conference with 13-5 record and #14. We lose in conference tourney finals, but make it to second weekend in Big Dance. Considering all the chaos (Preston) during the season we call this a successful year and look forward to an almost new team next year.

WE will probably be somewhere in between, but for the sake of Jayhawk Nation, I pray we are much closer to scenario number 2.

@Gunman If SDS has not made any improvement by now, is he ever going to? I would think Coach would be able to trust him for 5-7 minutes or more by now after over a month of practice, but he does not. I guess we will have to wait till next year to see what he can do. Problem is we need help NOW!

@kjayhawks You mean "when the going gets tough"? I pray every day for Coach Self and the KU Jayhawks to be successful and to remain safe and healthy and injury free. So far it has been 50-50, but going down hill lately, but I will keep on praying and keeping the faith.

@drgnslayr It might also help if our players cared enough about winning instead of being up all hours of the night playing on their phones, as was revealed by another poster. If they really cared about winning, their team, the streak, etc., they would get a good nights sleep, especially the night before a very early game. Maybe this is the reason we keep hearing the "tired" excuse. Boys get your arse's in bed and show that you have some KU pride and care about KU tradition. There will be plenty of time to be night owls when the season is over.

@Texas-Hawk-10 Tech plays at KSU, Bay, OSU, WV. I believe they could lose 2 of those. They host TCU, KU, OU, ISU. We have got to win there and maybe OU beating them also. The key is for us to have enough pride to hold serve in our house. If that happens, we could win #14.

@kjayhawks You are correct. But I am not giving in or up. We still have our destiny in front of us. No worse than tied for first going into next week. We have got to win in the PHOG!!!. Go to TTech and win and take care of the rest of the bottom teams. It can be done. Hopefully these guys do not want to be the team to stop the streak. They have a prize in front of them that would live forever, by passing the almighty UCLA record. That alone should be enough incentive. LETS GO HAWKS!!!

@Hawk8086 Very sorry performance with a lot of the former NC guys there to witness it. Where is the pride? Where is the want to? We play worse in our tradition rich and lovable Allen Fieldhouse than anywhere else. Looks like we could at least defend our home court against the bottom dwellers. Guess not this team. We have a ton of really tough games left, so a chance to wipe the egg off our face and show what the name "KANSAS" on our uniform stands for. Can they do it? I am embarrassed and now watching MU and hoping they win. What is this world coming to?

@kjayhawks The only way to win the B12 is for everyone else to continue losing. KU does not have the horses or the want to doing it on their own merits. I thought I was watching our Juco team for most of this game.

@HighEliteMajor Exactamundo. There should be no reason why we could not give DG a 2-3 minute blow between the 8 and 12 minute mark each half. He would then be much more help when it came to crunch time. Garrett and Sam need to be given the confidence to give Malik and Vick some rest and Mitch could help give Svi a breather for a few possessions. Doke, Mitch, and SDS, should be able to handle the 5 between them. I am sure Coach can split the time up so that no one needs to play more than 33-34 minutes per game without hurting our chances to win. It would sure pay off in March.
