It's time...and maybe this lights a fire in Elmarko. ZERO shot attempts in a road conference game was unacceptable.
I had a great time. Indiana fans are always gracious and really know the ball. It was a great atmosphere even though the students' last day of classes was Friday. My spoiled son has been to Allen(2020 Senior Night), Rupp(last year), and now Assembly Hall.
Was a great game to be at!!
Let me know. My son(13) and I will probably get there around 11:00
Yep...I live just North of Dayton Ohio so its only 2 and a half hours away.
Well, I bought tickets for Saturday's game so I guess I'm officially BACK!!!!
LOL

I thought it was just me. Honestly I lost a lot of interest when Mahomes started playing for the Chiefs. I only have so much sports attention to go around.
I'm a Chargers fan so I have only enough sports pain to go around...LOL
Kansas was usually my respite.

I think this is kind of a wild take. We are a year and a half removed from a bunch of kids (that were 3 and 4 star recruits) from the KC area winning a national championship at KU! Two of them are starters on this years team! I'm also pretty sure that Ochai, McCormack, and Jalen Wilson all graduated. Dajuan Harris and KJ Adams will graduate, and if Christian Braun hasn't already, he will.
I actually think that team has made all of this worse for me. It seems like it was officially the end of it and we at least got to see it culminate in a championship. It was awesome and it's never going to be like that again
@FarmerJayhawk Nice job labeling an entire sport's history by bringing up maybe the top recruit of all time. Obviously, there has been a wink-and-nod type of thing with the absolute top guys forever. I'm talking about recruiting kids that actually want a degree, and actually love the school. I'm aware you cant fill a roster full of Lightfoots and local studs like Braun and Ogbaji but it would be nice to have a few.
If Im going to watch pro sports, Id rather watch the best of the best and have moved towards NBA.
This is the first year in almost 40 that I've lost interest. I didn't even watch the Kentucky game. I really like Harris but other than him I just don't care. This isn't COLLEGE basketball anymore. None of these kids actually care about the school, the team, a free education, or anything else outside of their bank account. Am I supposed to cheer for Dickenson this year because Kansas outbid everyone for him? Am I supposed to follow "recruiting" which now is just a kid deciding on Nike or Adidas and THEN picking a school? Am I supposed to cheer for kids who would bolt on this team for a better payday in a heartbeat?
I'm sure I will watch Maui because I'm off work this week but I've just lost the feeling I used to have for this team and this sport.
This is a MASSIVE low point for me with this transfer/NIL stuff. If it is like this yearly I'm going to have a real hard time watching this.
I think NBA will have to start looking at this. It could be long term tampering if you think about it. If when a free agent Cuban would have an edge.
Indiana Fans are hoping Mark Cuban made a deal....wild times in "college" basketball

We act like a lot of these athletes couldn't get an academic scholarship if sports wasn't in the picture.
I'd be willing to bet 90% of D1 basketball players couldnt.
So its a theory that Self is hard on new guys? It's a theory that most first year guys struggle under him? Again most gloss over some of this because there is always a vet who steps in and fills the void. This year there won't be any of those so it's going to be REALLY interesting.
@Jethro Did you not see the 75% number I listed?
@madmax said in Bye Bye Ernest:
The plus I see is Kansas won't have down years anymore. No more wondering and waiting for a window to have a great team. Each coming year will be National Champions or bust. How painful has it been going into a year knowing the team has a glaring weakness that inevitably will result in an early tourney ouster.
What proof do we have that Coach Self can navigate this many new guys? The key to his success has always been guys who have been in his system a few years. Self is EXTREMELY difficult to deal with for first year guys. Look how many freshman can't deal with him. Look how Remi had issues for a lot of his one year. It's always worked because it was a weeding out process that led to every year having a mentally strong team filled with guys who withstood it all.
People are looking at all the incoming guys and assuming they will all be great. Self's history proves that about 75% of newcomers will either struggle with his demands and/or won't earn his trust enough to garner playing time. On top of that we now have only TWO guys left to help the new guys navigate it.
Of course it's possible Self truly has softened. I just don't believe it.
It's tough enough to cheer for obvious one and dones. Going to be tougher to cheer for 25 year old men who will only be in a Kansas uniform for a year over a 19 year old who WANTS to be there for 4 years.
It is what it is, I get it but I dont have to like it
Graduated High School in 2017...this covid and transfer stuff is dumb
Saw this on twitter
@BShark Roy not getting one hurt.
@BeddieKU23 I was at the KU UK game. UK fans behind me kept screaming to get Wheeler out of the game...LOL
Every time a team loses in the tournament its:
The coach sucked - didnt adjust, didnt call timeout etc.
The players are not athletic enough.
The funny thing is, it always and I mean always comes down to making shots. The collective tournament has a 3 point % of 30. It's not coaching or athleticism, its shot making.
@BShark Born in San Diego but moved to Dayton Ohio when I was 10.
For all you Chief fans you guys are especially spoiled. I'm a KU and Charger fan. I'm 49 years old and have seen ZERO titles as a Charger fan but THREE as a KU fan so I definitely feel spoiled there!
@BShark said in KU Offseason Chef Bill Cooking Thread:
KU tried very hard to get Jones and Okafor. Off the record, Jones may have been Bill's most wanted PG recruit ever. Duke gonna Duke though.
I'd put that as Marcus Smart.
Sucks...hope he gets better and takes his health a bit more serious. That belly has been growing pretty consistent and he always seems pretty red faced.
"Lost the edge" yet still makes a final four. He was at the top of his game for sure.
Man a 50/40/90 guy. Even in college that's impressive!
@BShark What is great about that picture is it shows how kids all grow at different times. Braun ends up the tallest!
14 years ago today....
@nuleafjhawk My 11-year-old son was on the verge of tears and acting like a punk at halftime. I told him to stop or he was headed to bed. Man that would suck to have gone to bed at halftime!!!!!!!!!!!
I dont want to start a new thread so I'll just post this here:
Watched the whole thing again Tuesday night. I'm sure I'll watch it again this weekend.

KJ is going to get an NFL tryout for TE once he's done at KU...LOL.
This look by Danny is so awesome!

Och can join Clyde Lovellette and Danny Manning as only Kansas players to be a consensus first-team all-American and a National Champion in the same season. Wilt, Nick Collison, and T-Rob got to the final game. Gooden and Devonte got to the final four.
Legendary!
Of course.....
Just posted
Dumbest fanbase around
I don't think UNC guards will handle the kind of team defense Kansas plays. If you think you've seen Caleb Love put up some awful shots before, just wait until Monday night.
