A small part of me wondered during the game if Self wasn’t committed to Doke the second half having ceded defeat and letting Doke play in front of his mom
After all she went through to get here. Self commented before the game that there are some things more important than games.

@Kcmatt7 I was not aware of those things, and had forgotten he was involved in the Calvert incident. (Not sure how I forgot that). So he wasn't pushed out after sophomore year because we were desperate for depth...but not so much going into next year. I get it.

I'm anxious to read what Jason King writes about whatever drama happened on this team about midway through the season as he has in past books. I bet a lot of it centered on Vick & Newman.

Summary:
Lagerald Vick is an athletic, skilled offensive minded combo guard that can shoot and pass the basketball. He did not see much playing time in his freshman year, and had a fairly pedestrian sophomore season, but an increase in production could see his draft stock move swiftly upwards. If he has a strong year, he could end up being a first round pick in 2018.
This is one of the strangest announcements I can recall. Maybe, ever. This has the signs of being pushed/prodded out all over it.

Also--the Nova team could potentially (not even reasonably likely) return this entire championship team next year. They are just dominant in so many phases of the game. They played hard with a chip on their shoulder. They didn't cave when things were not going their way. I always had Jay as a top replacement for Self if he left over the last 5 years or so for the NBA. I also didn't realize he was the same age as Self, however.
DiVincenzo 3 star ranked 120. Wright must have a hell of an eye for talent. He’s on a heck of a run without needing to tap into the 1 and done market.

the only chance Kansas had to win was try to match their scoring and Self held them back and instructed them to play in the paint.
