Reeves as a SO and Borden as a JR this year are both 7’+. Both know the system. Both are centers. Are they too slow? Or did they transfer?
Doesn’t Duke already have a big SO/Jr center and another guy, even if Filipowski is at the 4?
@benshawks08 - Per. KansasCity.com: “ According to Jonathan Givony of ESPN, only one projected first-rounder (Andre Jackson) was participating in the scrimmages. Players sometimes decline invitations to scrimmage at the Combine on the advice of agents who see no upside to improving one’s draft stock by playing.”
Gradey will not participate in today’s combine scrimmage. He opted out.
@BShark - ‘splain please?
Two years eligibility left?
It will be interesting to see how much playing time Ernest & Zuby get at new schools. If they sit for a year, what’s the point? If not, good for them.
Also, hopefully the new schools actually pay their NIL money. Lots of rumors about non-payment of NIL.
For what it’s worth, I wonder if the freshmen will get a lot of play early to acclimatize themselves to KU ball and (later) AFH. There’s not much at stake in Puerto Rico and the exhibition game. It could build “team”. Then we see “the best of the best”. Thoughts?
According to the Athletic, Huggins may get $1 million salary reduction, suspension and Sensitivity Training. It may be finalized today.
Tyson announced he’s transferring to Cal.
FYI - Bronny James to USC. Staying near dad…
@Crimsonorblue22 - 2 toes on one foot from surgical complications.
I saw that article. What I didn’t see is how many players CO currently has?
Not sure where to put this, but the Boards of Regents for OU and UT approved their schools move to the SEC during the summer of 2024.
@Kcmatt7 - the accent is on “team”. Although I doubt HCBS will allow “hero ball”.
Last year’s team won the Big 12 in part by relying on each other during tough games. The round of 32 loss was most likely due, in large part, to Self’s illness.
Not to be negative, but I’m curious. When McCullars transferred in, it was partially the “atmosphere of family” that drew him. This coming year there are 3 returning players. I’m wondering how HCBS will create that again with all the new guys. Puerto Rico will help but what the team had last year was because they bonded over a couple of years.
From discoverpuertorico.com regarding passports:
“ Do I need a passport to visit Puerto Rico?
“United States citizens and permanent residents don't need a passport to travel to Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands. However, the Real ID Act will be in effect as of May 2025, so verify if your state is compliant with these laws because otherwise, you may need a passport to travel. Travelers from other countries visiting Puerto Rico have the same visa and passport requirements that would apply if visiting the mainland United States.”
He can get a Masters and a PhD! What is his major?
Extra practice and game time to start getting the team on the same page.
@ReggieKansas - I see what you did there… 😎
In one of there threads, IIRC, someone said Zuby was developing ahead of Udeh before an injury. ???
@approxinfinity - Maybe get a leftover Gradey “Big Dick” t-shirt? Probably a fire sale.
@kjayhawks - well, nuts. It’s from the Twitter app.
@RockkChalkk said in Hunter Dickenson is a Jayhawk:
I'm not great at posting links but there is a great video on his twitter. Shows when he told Self the news.

Nutella?
@FarmerJayhawk - related to Cuffe entering the Transfer Portal?
Quite a few strong statements about Morris here. Thanks BShark for calming words. Self and the school ABSOLUTELY know the risks. Let’s get the venting finished and then chill a bit…
@Kcmatt7 - not to mention the NBA potential players who come back at a later date who are very good.
Why not something in depth on Zion?
Does getting Timberlake knock any candidates from the KU list?
FWIW, Mike Vernon seems to think Dickinson is expected to visit sometime toward the end of next week, after five-star Harrison Ingram’s visit to Lawrence earlier in the week. Dickinson is also expected to visit Maryland and Georgetown.
Other choices:
KSU (no way in-hale!)
WSU (no way in-hale!)
*Fizzou (no way in-hale!)
I hope Pitt State has a decent team.
I see Svi is starting for Charlotte. 15+ every night.
@FarmerJayhawk said in Bill Self Presser Wednesday Morning:
The other part was funny. “We need a guy that’s 40 from 3, 60 from 2, 90 from the line, is more athletic than anyone can guard and never turns it over”
Times 5
UConn playing rough under the SDSU basket with 2 bigs.
I assume my room will be ready soon. After all, it’s 5,400 sq ft! 😅
@cragarhawk - I thought the technical on Clark was weak…
Is Caitlin Clark available?
The article in The Athletic said he has a pure shot, is great at driving the basket but needs to work on his defense. With that said, they also mentioned he was the least capable defender among starters so he was picked on. Nothing about struggling to shoot with hands in his face.
Nor did it mention a if he’d hired an agent.
Maybe UConn should replace Michigan State in the early season game?
@Kcmatt7 - Apparently UT has hired Rodney Terry for their coach. Thoughts?f
If I read it right, 7/9 SDSU players (who had minutes today) are seniors. The other two are juniors.
CBS Sports said Kansas State has now lost 8 straight Elite 8 games.
Longest such streak by any team in NCAA Tournament history (last win was in 1964).
Betting KSU hangs a banner….
@BShark - that’s good! Johnson gone too?
Nowell having another good night. He’s a senior. Will he drafted? Can he come back next year?
I thought the SDSU senior forward Mensah looked very good tonight. 6’10” senior. I wonder if he might be a grad transfer?
@drgnslayr - yes. I’d like to think a little (lot) more fire from Norm would have been worth 2 pts also.
@BShark - “chip on his shoulder”. Gotta like that!
