Tech gave them a good run, but they just don't have enough offensive options to challenge a good team. Their ball handling was terrible.
both of the announcers screamed ...YES ...when reddish made that 3. freaking homers...
close this game out, tech...let's see some dookie and espn xmas tears....
@KirkIsMyHinrich Tech is just bottling them up defensively. They are supreme against 3 point shooting.
and then they cough it up twice...lol. hope i didn't jinx them...
@JayHawkFanToo Tech looks REALLY good so far.
Calipari just makes it up as he goes along. He is in a press conference, preparing Big Dumb Nation for their upcoming loss to UNC, and he discusses the "time he beat KU by 50", which never happened. No doubt he is referencing his national championship year, when they did beat us by 32, and then beat us again for the national championship. Of course, we never hear him explain that he hasn't beat Kansas since. It's at 4:47 :

@wissox I would tend to agree with you about the great teams blowing away their competition as a tell for future greatness. If you look close enough at this team without looking at the final scores, there are signs of potential greatness. You don't pull off 27-0 runs without having something going on. They're just babies in the system ... they've just begun. Still, they have learned one important lesson: they will fight, compete, and win. I think the blow outs will come with this team, but it will take the conference schedule to get them to that point. I think we will be at that elite level just at the right time.
@KirkIsMyHinrich i think Dook will be freaked out by the Tech defense, a little like we were the first time we played them last year. I'm going to call for an upset, as I have the Red Raiders winning by 2.
@JayHawkFanToo This could be HUGE for the conference if Tech can pull it off. I can't wait to watch it...
@Woodrow I think Tech wins a close one. Or...I should say....I HOPE they win.
DUKE VS. TECH....GO RAIDERS!!!
@JayHawkFanToo In Selden's freshman year, several of us ( including me ), were calling for Wayne to be benched. Grime's upside could be way higher than Waynes if we could somehow keep Grimes for longer than a year. And Wayne was really good once he got it figured out. Grimes could be a potential All American, so his loss this year could be our gain next year.
@approxinfinity i went with Fox instead of the higher priced Westbrook on Fan Duel, and made a little money last night.
@HighEliteMajor Matt Doherty should be available for you guys... ( lol ...j/k )
@BeddieKU23 He's got an old man body, with the skinny arms and legs, and the goosh pot. It doesn't appear he is able to bend his knees. Guards just blow right by him. But that kid can really shoot, and we're going to need someone who can keep us going offensively off the bench.
@nuleafjhawk It's a sausage factory. They're still sorting out roles, and responsibilities, and some are definitely getting it easier and quicker than others. It's ugly to watch at times. Dotson has been great. Garrett has been tremendous defensively, and he looked better offensively last night. Lawson has been the glue ....the go to. Mitch was amazing last night, I thought. I was hoping he'd hit that 3. Grimes ...well, he looked better. But he still doesn't look good. Vick was fantastic at times- invisible the rest of the time. Charlie and Dave pulled themselves off the scrap heap, and both shined. KJ probably put himself on the scrap heap. So much talent... so many moving parts. It's simply going to take time- it might take the whole conference schedule for us to play that perfect game we all know this team can do.
@BeddieKU23 Charlie also made several very good defensive plays that resulted in them not scoring last night. Still, Charlie's defense is like so many other elements of this team ...a work in progress.
Nice game. They made us work for it, then we smashed them.
And if we don't see the featuring of Q tonight, then we know the ship has probably sailed, and they've decided to move Marcus into his spot when Doke gets back. I've often wondered if KU Sports doesn't write articles suggested by the coaching staff- thot it seemed ironic they would write a huge piece on Marcus, and then Q gets 14 minutes against Nova. Hopefully, I'm wrong and they'll get Q 15 shots tonight, and he'll make over half of them.
His faith blows me away. It's like reading Paul . This is the fight we're called to...

@Crimsonorblue22 I dunno.
@drgnslayr Couldn't he redshirt, sit out, graduate, and play the 4 for us next year?
@dylans We need to take out some whoopass on them. They handed our heads to us last time. Whoopass to this team is a win by at least a 4 point margin. I'll say KU 81...the Sun Drivels 77.
@mayjay There's a jumpshot hiding in there somewhere. Maybe he should go back to shooting the way he did in high school.
@Crimsonorblue22 I think the confidence ship has already sailed by the look on Grime's face in the Nova game, combined with the 14 minutes on the court.
@kjayhawks I'm of the opinion that when Doke gets back, Marcus starts, and Grimes goes to the bench. Dotson/Marcus/Vick/Dedric/Doke. This is 2012 all over again, imo.. A salty defensive team that has a knack for winning close games. That 2012 team just amazed us, as they looked butt ugly most of the time, but they would find a way to win.
@kjayhawks True that. The stage got too big for them. They choked.
@bskeet I think we're light years ahead of last year's defense, and light years behind the offense. Our game with Arizona St should give us a more accurate idea how much progress we've made on defense. Last year, they blew us off the court. Getting offense from 2 1/2 guys is certainly not optimal, and it's a bail out from our offense not working like it should. At least when Doke gets back, that will give us another option. I think Dotson has to assert himself a lot more for us to get where we want to go. He had that little stretch in the last few minutes of the Nova game where he just took over for a couple plays- the dude was total clutch. We have to get that type of performance from him the whole game. This dude should initiate alot more offense. Drive, drive, drive. We've got a mini-Frank, but he's taking mini-me shots. Turn it up, DD.
@BShark If they make it to the tournament, then maybe they get lucky again, and draw Tucky for a 2nd year in a row. That was a free pass to the Elite 8.
@BShark Just a little outside...
@Fightsongwriter Yep. I figured it would be tight, and it was. Nova is a really good team that will be a nightmare for a higher seeded team in the tourney. I hope they stay east.
@Big-Clyde52 Oh yeah...we're doing terrible. Woe is us...
@Big-Clyde52 I don't see conference being tough. Imo, I wouldn't be the least surprised if there are only two ranked B12 teams in the Top 25 by the end of conference. Who knows, though. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.
@jayballer73 One of the hard parts of getting used to Bill Self was his penchant to win ugly, tight games. It took me years to like that after having Roy as coach. Roy would flambΓ© teams. 150-95. Bill would've won that game by 7. That 2012 run cemented it. Bad ball.
@jayballer73 By this time last year, we had lost by 9 to Washington, and lost by 10 to Arizona St in back to back games. the very next game, we beat Nebraska by 1 point. We were 1 point away from losing 3 in a row. I feel like last year turned out pretty good. One thing we seem to do well is fight and compete, because we've played and beat some pretty good teams so far. The way conference is shaping up, it might end up being easier than what we're facing non-conf.
@jayballer73 2012.
winner, winner...chicken dinner.
Dotson getting in foul trouble cost us. Gillespie rained down all over Charlie.
@stoptheflop We're favored by 7 1/2. I hope Vegas is right on this one.
KU 77, Nova 70.
@DCHawker KU fans that weren't around back then just don't realize how pitiful our program was back then. I still think that loss to Wichita St in the NCAAs had a major impact on the program, and eventually cost Ted his job.
We're number 1...we're number 1...
@mayjay There's no stinkin' rules in Blue Blood arguments. It's every man for himself. I personally make it up as I go along. My IU friend gets reminded on a weekly basis that the Candy Stripers don't quite make the Blue Blood cut. Close....just a little outside....lol.
@HighEliteMajor Our status was compromised with Ted Owens. IU can redeem their status with a good run, but at this point, it will take years.
There are only 3 blue bloods in my books. KU... then UK ...then UNC. Ku provided Tucky with Rupp, and Dean "Traitor" Smith to UNC so we would have some competition when we played.
@kjayhawks Nova has been in the game for decades. I would rank them ahead of Indiana in blue blood wanna be status. Still, they remain as wanna bes in the grand hierarchy of things. Was florida a blue blood because they won back to back?
It will be a good test, but we'll prevail.
