So, what happened yesterday?

The record for consecutive conference championships had been UCLA's for 39 years, until we broke that streak yesterday.

Breaking that record took 14 years, with 14 different teams, with many different players.

This record belongs to the teams that went onto play for the national championship, as well as the teams that left the NCAA tournament early. This includes a national championship, as well as a national runner up.

The teams included a slew of all- B12 players, B12 players of the year, and one National player of the year.

This year's team did not "set the record", they simply finished what was started 14 years ago. Every KU player, past and present, that is walking around with a B12 conference championship ring contributed to this streak. This victory is as much a victory for DG, Svi, and the gang, as it is to Mario, Sherron, and Shady, and TRob, and Wayne, and Perry, Frank, and Tyshawn, and JJ, and Joel, and Brandon, and all the rest.

The one constant in the whole equation has been an Okie that loves KU with all his heart and soul, that has brought a passion for excellence to our amazing program. And that is our Hall Of Fame head coach...Bill Self.
The more I look at it, the more I think Xavier will not be a 1 seed. They have 1 win over a ranked team. They have double digit losses to the other ranked team ( Nova ) they have faced. 3 ranked teams...2 losses. I see them losing in the BE tourney, and either Michigan Slease, or Dook passing them on the 1 line.

Devonte carried our team. I am so proud of him - he goes down in my books as one of my favorite all time Jayhawks. Great job, Jayhawks. Hats off to the Red Raiders - that was one hell of a game, and they have nothing to hang their heads about. They gave us all we could handle. Number 14 is in the books. Now, let's validate this great achievement by making a big run in the NCAA, and make it to that final weekend.

@Crimsonorblue22 That's what I've been wondering. He had a player that sexually assaulted a coed, and it wasn't reported to the police, and the player wasn't suspended. It has completely changed my view on Izzo.

BTW, I am openly wondering how that Sparty is going to be able to keep Miles Bridges on the court in lieu of the Nassar fiasco. @Gorilla72 Here's my answer to that: I agree 100% that one game does not a season make. But ... here is the comparison :
Lightfoot ... 205 minutes in B12 play : 15 rebounds
De Sousa ... 13 minutes last game : 6 rebounds
I love Lightfoot...love what he brought to the OU game with the great blocks, the jam ... BUT
even if De Sousa doesn't go 3 for 3 from the field every game (using very nice post moves), and 4 for 4 from the free throw line, and lead the team in offensive rebounds (3), and end up with 6 boards, I think it is safe to say we've found our back up to Doke. He simply rebounds the ball too well not to make a significant impact every game. Might not see scoring like we saw, but that guy hits the boards. Fran Fraschilla called him an "elite rebounder", and we just saw his coming out party.

De Sousa has up to 6 games before the NCAAs, depending how seriously we take the B12 tournament. Minimum 4 games. His post moves last game looked like he had been doing it all year. The thing that really jumps out to me are the 6 rebounds he had in 13 minutes. He led the team with 3 offensive rebounds. That's simply a potential game changer for our team, imo.

@Fightsongwriter The joy the whole team had when he succeeded was just priceless. Doke was more excited about Silvio's success than he was his own.
Silvio was the highlight of the night for me. Just a spectacular 13 minutes. Him and Lightfoot gave us some truly amazing minutes. He had 10 points...6 boards ...1 asst, AND he can shoot free throws!
