If Creighton hadn't lost Pops after the KU game to that hip injury they would probably be a Top 5 seed. They dominated us

Maybe. They are pretty hot and cold with their shooting. Obviously they are hot today

They had 26 more shot attempts because we had 20 turnovers and gave up 17 offensive rebounds. It's pretty obvious why we lost this one.

@KirkIsMyHinrich Self will ruin it

New heights these last two years is brutal

He can’t evaluate guards

Gonna surround Peterson with some overrated dudes, run this archaic offense where we feed the post and never fastbreak

It’s the same trash every year and it only worked with 3-4 year system guys

Bill - you are done - please quit

I would say let Self keep coaching, but a shake up to the assistant coaching staff and a maybe a GM is needed to help evaluate talent and get the right player fit and roster construction. Especially if we're going to be so heavily reliant on the transfer portal to fill out the roster.

My opinion is that this team's guard play isn't as good as past Kansas/Self teams. If you put Mario Chalmers/Russell Robinson, Tyshawn Taylor/Elijah Johnson, Frank Mason/Devonte Graham, Devon Dotson/Marcus Garrett on this team, then we immediately become a top 10, maybe top 5 team.

Darryn Peterson is a good start for next season, but we will need probably a couple more good guards if we want to be a top 10 team.

Awesome game from KJ today btw. Too bad it was wasted.

Tyren Parker to KU officially

Ute came to the right place • Feb 16, 2025 05:03 AM

Alright well I'm going to go watch Darryn Peterson highlights. Have a good night

I am too. Although I am excited about DP next year.

Ute came to the right place • Feb 16, 2025 04:45 AM

I'm a lot more excited about our football game against Utah tbh.

That's a bad sign for the bball team. And a good sign for the football team.

@kuballin10 in fairness to Bill KJ has 4 fouls. The problem is that Hunt sucked tonight

Also Storr was bad.

Hunter has missed about 4 easy layups tonight. Seems relevant now.

Hunter missed a bunch of close in. When you get a good look and it fizzles it hurts plus they can get out and run.

Hunter was 8/16 with 21 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists. Offensively, he is not the problem.

@KirkIsMyHinrich

It’s built to run through Hunter but he’s out on the trey line hoisting up bricks. But it finally paid off, he hit his first 3! Lol

It is designed with Hunter in mind, and I would prefer him down low, but it isn't like we have a lot of other options. We have too many non-shooters on the team.

Oh how I hate Kansas State. • Feb 08, 2025 08:46 PM

We rank 352/364 teams in Free Throws Attempted per game.

We rank 271/364 teams in 3 Pointers Attempted per game.

And we are not a particularly good 3pt shooting team or free throw shooting team. The offense is just not very good. It is what it is.

Lance is COOKING • Feb 05, 2025 10:35 PM

Draeden Punt to Kansas. Edge. 88 overall rating. He is 6'7''. Had an offer from the purples.

2025 Schedule • Feb 05, 2025 02:42 AM

At Mizzou, at UCF, at Texas Tech, at Iowa St will be games we probably won't be favored to win. But I think we have a chance to be competitive in and win every game.

DBs are my biggest question mark. I think Todd/Graham/Hurley/McGhee is pretty solid at CB, although I'm not 100% sold on McGhee. But I think we have some decent younger players behind McGhee. Safety, if the Dye brothers have to play a lot, is a little bit concerning. It would be nice if we could pick a safety up in the Spring portal in April. Same thing for the offensive line and specifically offensive tackle, I wouldn't mind getting another player from the portal. However, the cost of an offensive tackle could be pretty steep, and I feel good about our offensive line in general.

I am pretty excited about our defensive line and linebacker room. It's probably the best we've had in a while. We also seem to have a pretty decent kicker and punter. And we have some talent and speed at skill positions and special teams.

A lot of new players though, so making a bowl game and beating K-State is my hope for this team. I think they are capable of more than that, but you never really know how a season's going to go.

Bu Ku • Feb 01, 2025 11:26 PM

Rotations were questionable at best today. The long leash Bill allows some players and very short leash he gives other players doesn't work when you rely so heavily on the transfer portal. That jumper KJ took late in the game would have gotten almost anyone else benched.

Get Coit and KJ off the floor

I can't defend these rotations. I don't know what Bill is trying to accomplish.

@BeddieKU23 said in KU Mad, Central Florida next on schedule, part 2.:

Need a lot more from shak and Rylan this half.

Well good news then. KJ is starting the 2nd half instead of Rylan.

Lance is COOKING • Jan 28, 2025 09:28 PM

Jack Utz to Kansas. Tight End. Had offers from Mizzou, K-State, Nebraska, Colorado, Arkansas, Wisconsin, among other schools.

His offer list is probably better than his 247 rating.

Lance is COOKING • Jan 28, 2025 04:37 AM

Corbin Glasco just committed. WR.

Staff continues to cook.

Lance is COOKING • Jan 27, 2025 08:19 PM

I will say it helps that Premer is friends with Kaden Snyder and some of the other KU commits, but recruiting against Oregon, ND, A&M is not easy.

Lance is COOKING • Jan 27, 2025 08:09 PM

We now have 6 of the top 11 recruits from the state of Kansas with a good shot at getting Tyren Parker (WR) and a chance to get Ian Premer (TE) as well. Premer is the #1 recruit in Kansas and has offers from Oregon, Notre Dame, Texas A&M and several other good schools, so that will be a hard fight to get him in Lawrence.

Lance is COOKING • Jan 27, 2025 08:00 PM

I believe we are also expected to get a commit from Landen Anderson, who is a defensive tackle.

Lance is COOKING • Jan 27, 2025 07:58 PM

Kaden Snyder to KU. He is a 4-star offensive tackle with a rating of 0.90. Another Kansas kid from Salina. He had offers from K-State, Duke, Wisconsin and Arkansas. Really big pickup. The staff is on quite a tear with in-state recruiting and recruiting in general.

Lance is COOKING • Jan 26, 2025 09:23 PM

Never thought the football team would be keeping me sane in late January. Strange times.

Lance is COOKING • Jan 26, 2025 09:21 PM

Malachi Mills to Kansas. He is an offensive lineman. Had offers from Akron, Colorado St, E. Michigan, and FAU. He has an overall player rating of 86.

Good pickup. Can never have too many offensive lineman.

Lance is COOKING • Jan 26, 2025 03:02 AM

Most likely a linebacker.

Lance is COOKING • Jan 26, 2025 02:50 AM

Josh Galbreath to Kansas. A pretty nice get for us. He also had offers from Kansas St, Iowa St, Illinois, and Michigan.

Nate Sims to Kansas

Lance is COOKING • Jan 23, 2025 01:20 AM

Nate Sims commits to Kansas. He is a wide receiver.

My request to play Rylan and AJ more has aged well.

Need AJ to keep playing like this.

Refs are bad

Let's make the venue Phrog Allen Fieldhouse tonight

Good guys by 7

@BShark said in Mythbusters: Bill Self, minutes, and March:

I'm not sure how you can watch the team with Dajuan off the court and think he is the problem.

I feel like the biggest issue for this team is a lot of the pieces don't fit well together. Too many non-shooters but also Storr doesn't make much sense on a roster with Zeke and Hunter.

Juan in a vacuum isn't the problem, but his weaknesses are magnified by the roster construction. There are a lot of good things Juan does that I think people take for granted.

I wish Rylan would play more minutes.

@KirkIsMyHinrich he can offend?

Judging by the comments I read about him from neutrals every game, he can.

KState game thread • Jan 18, 2025 08:04 PM

Zeke with 24 (7/12) 5 boards, 3 assists. He is our best player.

KState game thread • Jan 18, 2025 08:03 PM

Hunter with 25 points (12/19), 8 boards, 3 assists. His defense sucks but he can offense

KState game thread • Jan 18, 2025 08:02 PM

AJ with 17 minutes, Rylan with 12 minutes and no shot attempts. Doesn't make a lot of sense.
