Mayo and Peterson would be so so good. I hope Self is able to find a guard like Mayo in the portal for next season.

I think at most we can play 10 minutes of two bigs.
Against K-State in Lawrence we can do whatever we want. They are so bad. But against real teams this applies.

Self probably thinks he needs to have defenders to cover up for Hunter Dickinson being slow, but you aren't going to win very many games scoring between 50 and 60 points.
This needs to be a 20+ point win
2026 class is already good and it has a chance to be special. This will be an important weekend.

The way the portal and recruiting works, it's pretty much always football season.
I think people are overcomplicating what's going on here. An offense with Harris and Adams each playing 30 minutes a game is never going to be better than mediocre because of how limited they are offensively. It's exacerbated by Shak Moore (and I like him) not being a good shooter and David Coit being on a legendary cold streak shooting the ball.
Griffen needs to be playing 30+ minutes (currently only averaging 18), and Storr needs more minutes too (also averaging 18). I realize Storr has sucked this year, but he's a career 35% 3pt shooter and is probably our best hope of getting to the FT line more often if he can manage to get his act together.
Defense has been pretty good for the most part, but Hunter has the mobility of a 40-year-old man and good teams like Iowa St that force Hunter to defend PnRs, rotate, and recover are going to get a lot of open looks/layups.
Basically I think Zeke and Rylan need to be leading the team in minutes, KJ's minutes need to go down significantly, and Juan's minutes need to go down slightly. And if Coit continues to play like this I'd rather see Passmore get minutes.
Elite defense. Offense is very much not elite. I don't think the offense is going to get much better this year unfortunately.

Yes, despite a slightly disappointing season, it feels like we have some momentum going now in football and it's starting to manifest in recruiting and the transfer portal. We have had a very successful portal so far this offseason with 22 commits and addressing a lot of positional needs after graduating 30 seniors. I suspect we will add a handful more players in the spring portal, and we might lose a few more as well. Daniel Hishaw hasn't given a definite answer on whether or not he'll be back. Greydon Grimes is still on the roster despite his father taking the OC job at Wisconsin. But we are in really good shape heading to the spring portal. Not really any needs, but potential wants for me would be multi year players at Safety, OL, TE, and WR.
He's 6'2'', 250 lbs, so I expect him to fill the SDE position replacing Jereme Robinson. Dean Miller would be the other starter at DE.
Reading comments from Texas fans, it sounds like he was a good player but he was just getting passed on the depth chart by 1st round NFL draft picks and freak athletes. He also seems to be a very high character guy.
Pretty happy with our DE room right now.
Texas DE Justice Finkley to KU. Fills a position of need. He has 1 season of eligibility.

For anyone interested, here's what I have for next year's football roster so far. 83 scholarship players. 40 offense, 41 defense, and 2 special teams. 21 portal commits coming in. 9 portal commits leaving. And this assumes Daniel Hishaw will be back.

I have more faith in Storr and Griffen figuring it out on defense than I do of Juan and KJ figuring it out on offense. I think Storr and Griffen need to play more and we just have to live with the growing pains.
Apparently he may have moved to linebacker while at Auburn. He has 2 years of eligibility.
Auburn transfer Laquan Robinson commits to Kansas. He is a safety.
I'd just start five Kirk Hinrichs and bring Wilt off the bench
Based on numbers, he is a clear upgrade over Greaves.

Ya, it seems like a clear upgrade over Greaves. Slightly confused if he has 1 or 3 years of eligibility. People are saying one year but he's listed as a true sophomore so... ?

For sure. Getting so many players on the defensive side of the ball is exciting, but Foster seems like a huge need for us at center.

I would also bet KJ and Juan’s minutes go waaaay down to under 30. I think you’ll see a ton of Juan Mayo Griffen Storr Hunter especially late in games.
I like Griffen as a starter and Mayo off the bench more. I think KJ starts but his minutes go down. I think Juan's minutes go down too, but not as much as KJ's.
