@cragarhawk Lucas does not seem to have Withey's timing or length. At best, Lucas might do ok in one of the Euro leagues. I hate to say D League cuz those guys are basically paid with peanuts.

@JayHawkFanToo But, that does not mean that Oubre will stay at KU for certain either. I think he is right at Ben's level of readiness and he bailed out early to help his fam. Maybe Oubre does the same? I'd rather not see him go early either though.

@HighEliteMajor Yeah, that would be interesting to know. It kind of ties into my question to @jaybate-1.0 about which Coach did Bill take influence and knowledge from more, Coach Iba or Coach Brown? It sounds like Iba but Larry also had great influence on him as well with him being a grad asst, and then Larry being basically on the bench next to Self for a season or two. Fascinating stuff.

Are these the numbers of a lottery pick? Will these average numbers convince Cliff he is ready to declare for the draft? Will these numbers persuade Coach Self to try and persuade Cliff to come back next season?
If I were a betting man, I would put my money on Cliff coming back for his soph year.

Did anyone else find it interesting that Lucas was in the game late during crunch time? Then with the game in hand, they went small with Perry at the 5, Greene and Oubre 3 and 4. Interesting.
What did everyone think about how we played?
I thought they played a good game. Didnt shoot the trey as good as they could have but they made up for it by hitting the glass pretty good. Lucas seemed to be a pretty good match up inside against Gathers. That boy is big.

@wrwlumpy Well actually the amount of THC that stays in your system depends on how much and how often you smoke and how much water you drink and how fast your metabolism is and how heavy or light a person is. Its lots of factors. It can stay in your system for up to 45 days or longer. It can also be gone in as quick as a few days. Like I said, it depends on a lot of things. It doesn't just stay in your system for that long in everyone who tries it. Am I outing myself a bit here? Yeah, I used to smoke weed when I was younger and I lived in Lawrence. I learned through trial and error how fast or slow THC can get out of my system. NOW, Im much older and wiser and I dont partake anymore. But I am also medically trained for a living and have done some actual research on the topic.
On Kietzman. This guy sounds like Jack Harry's best friend. Who cares what that a-hole thinks or says.

Interesting take on John Lucas. If KU could get him to come, he might be a really good replacement.
Also, Coach Manning. If he has a good career at Wake, KU might come knocking on his door after Self decides to step down. Manning should answer. His ties to KU already put him at the top of the list in my opinion.
KU needs a high level coach to come in after Self retires to continue the tradition. Who else would fit? A former KU player who has coaching experience and aspirations to be at a blue blood program. Maybe Paul Pierce or Sherron or Danny's current assistant, Ballard.
@Crimsonorblue22 First time Ive seen him on the court just now. Looks like a really talented kid. If Cliff declares, Bragg will step right in. If Cliff stays, Bragg will complement him very well. Watch out for KU next year!

@drgnslayr I was wondering the same thing myself. He could just be scheming against other coaches, messing with their heads. But, I also thought that maybe he was serious and might try to limit KU's hot 3pt shooting from here on, to the detriment of our 11th consecutive conference championship, a solid run at the conference and national titles too. Just so he can say I dont want a team of 3 point shooters, I want a team that can play inside out, back to the basket, easy points, prevent easy points. Square peg in a round hole type shhhhh

@RockChalkinTexas Coach Self is one of the greats. That much is certain. But, this team is the best 3 point shooting team he has ever had. He has 6 guys that are perfectly capable of shooting greater than 40% from trey. SIX! Sure, there will be a game when 4 of his gunners arent shooting it well at all. But, all six!? No. The law of averages says other wise to me. Just let the other 2 fire away.
But, then again, if we dont have any low post presence, a team full of L&A's will just crowd the arc and prevent easy shots. Its a conundrum of sorts.

@wrwlumpy Oh man, that's a huge bummer! You guys are right, this is quite complicated. Had this been someone else, it wouldnt have made news. But Jerrance is at KU and in a position of authority. And, he got caught and he didnt tell Coach Self who found out thru the media. No good. No good at all. I dont particularly care that he had weed on him or even if he smoked it, if he wasnt an assistant coach at KU. But having a job like he does, he should know better. Pot will be legal nation wide someday, but that doesnt excuse the fact that he shouldnt be doing that in his position.

@joeloveshawks Im pretty sure this has been mentioned in the past by a few on here. We are so lucky to be in the KU nation. There are only 3 other programs that enjoy the success that we do here at KU. And, none of those hold a candle to KU IMO. Even Duke and Coach K with his 1k wins. Which is amazing btw.
We mourn through a tough loss when KU gets beat and go through that process together. We cheer and get amped when KU does win, and it does do that quite frequently.
I would never dream of giving a part of my spirit and soul to any other team like I do with KU.
On the topic, I was definitely upset when KU lost. I was asking myself, how can a team so good play like such absolute crap? How is it possible? KU should win ALL the time! Especially against inferior coaches and opponents. I mean, really.
But, we all come to accept that KU isnt perfect and is not going to win all the time. We love our Jayhawks regardless of the losses and because of them.

Trying to think percentages here. What are the odds that KU goes through the last 8 games at 7 - 1 or 6 - 2?
Conversely, what are the odds that ISU, OU and.or WVU win out the remaining games?
Me thinks KU has the better odds here.
@drgnslayr Cool, man. Can't beat Stevie. I'll admit to some feelings of guilt on this one. I posted earlier that I wouldnt be surprised if we lost yesterday. Then I posted just a few hours from tip off that we would win by 20. So, yah, kinda feel guilty about that.
From a serious stand point though, we've got 8 games left. If we come out of that stretch at 7 - 1 or 6 - 2 we should have a great chance of at least sharing the title. An outright win would be better but you know. I think KU has a great chance to finish just like that.
@wrwlumpy I wasnt aware that he was ill. I kind of thought he had passed already but maybe I was thinking of someone else. Anyways, RIP Coach Smith, Rock Chalk from the great beyond.
