Corey Evans had his Wednesday mailbag today and in it he said he thinks a commitment from Bryce is coming in the next couple of week. Said as of now he is "leaning" towards to Kansas.

Self on the recruiting effect of the NCAA news: "Recruiting is hard regardless. When you're recruiting at an elite level, you've got obstacles every year. ... It's something we certainly explain out and are very transparent with what's going on. ... I would say it has definitely had an impact."

Self says he also thinks KU could have one of the better early signing periods the school has had "in a long time."

That last quote caught my attention...

Roy is in to visit Thompson today

Dotson Day to Day • Oct 23, 2019 02:50 PM

@HighEliteMajor Gurley was on 810 this morning and he mentioned that Braun might get some minutes at PG.

O' Chubby Ankles • Oct 23, 2019 12:52 PM

I saw a couple college basketball writers that said if a transfer can get the school they are leaving to help with the transfer as in they are saying it’s in good faith kids are getting cleared to play.

Dotson Day to Day • Oct 23, 2019 12:48 PM

I think I’d sit him Thursday and then hopefully he would be a full go for the last exhibition game. No need to push it with our most important player.

Border War Renewed • Oct 22, 2019 07:29 PM

@Kcmatt7 as has been said by multiple people KU basketball doesn’t need national exposure. They don’t need to play Mizzou. This game is going to do far more for Mizzou basketball then it does for Ku basketball. It will get ESPN game day talking about them giving them exposure that they would not have had without this game.

What does KU the program gain from this??

Mizzou sucks at basketball. So everyone saying it is better than playing XYZ school is it really? This isn’t going to bolster KU resume for the tournament.

I watch every single KU game so I am not going to circle this game. I look forward to playing Duke, UK, Villanova, Sparty, etc... will I watch the game sure like I said I watch all of them.

Border War Renewed • Oct 22, 2019 06:17 PM

@BShark There is no doubt this is about money. There is already a FB game (s) in the works which will generate more money. It makes all the sense in the world for Mizzou to want to do this. I just do not see the value that this brings to KU.

I also think this shows Long does not have a very good pulse on the overall fanbase. He is getting bashed over this. On top of the Snoop debacle and this has not been his finest month or so.

Border War Renewed • Oct 22, 2019 06:04 PM

Also, from everything I have seen and read KU fans are pretty much against this and Mizzou fans are over the moon about it. That should answer any questions about this.

Mizzou is irrelevant in the KC Metro area now that they are in the SEC. This game changes that. Also, there program is never talked about nationally and very rarely on national TV. This game changes that. I just fail to see how this game does anything for the KU program. It is not even arguable that this game does FAR more for Mizzou than it does for KU.

Mizzou being "irrelevant in the "Metro Area" is laughable and one of the weirdest false claims people seem to be making. It's like they don't even venture East of state line. Mizzou is still well represented in KC...

One game a season is not going to change Mizzou's national status in basketball. Even if it is nationally televised.

Not playing our biggest rival every single season is stupid. It's what makes college sports more fun.

Who cares if someone gets more gain than the other? Are we actually so petty that we're going to hold a grudge for forever and ruin one of the best sports rivalries that exist?

Do you listen to sports talk Radio? How often do you hear Mizzou discussed compared to KU and KSU. It is not even close. It is not a false claim at all. I am out and about all the time in KC and I don't hardly ever see or hear people talking about Mizzou.

It is plain and simple really. KU as a program gains literally nothing from playing this game. You as a KU fan might, but not the program.

KU Preseason #3. • Oct 22, 2019 04:30 PM

Izzo just announced that Joshua Langford foot issue that sidelined him last year is back and he will be out until January. Huge blow to Sparty.

Comments from Self.

I personally think this is not the right move. KU gains nothing by playing Mizzou.

2020 Recruiting • Oct 21, 2019 03:48 PM

@BShark From what I have seen today on Twitter it seems like UCONN is going to be the pick for him. One thing is for sure it is not going to be KU it appears.

2020 Recruiting • Oct 21, 2019 03:30 PM

Javonte Brown Ferguson is down to Texas A&M, UCONN, and KU. Will probably commit in the next couple of weeks. Not sure how much KU is in this one, but just passing it on.

Chiefs! • Oct 20, 2019 12:27 PM

@AsadZ I don’t see why not. Let’s wait and see how the Patriots look when they play a some games against teams with a pulse. They have played one decent team in Buffalo and won 16-10. They appear to have a great D but their offense isn’t anything special this year.

They play Cleveland, @ Balt, @ Philly, Dallas, @ Houston, and KC coming up in the heart of their schedule. They run the table there or go 5-1 then maybe I’ll change my tune.

Chiefs! • Oct 19, 2019 01:15 PM

@AsadZ why is this not a championship caliber team? You realize they have 5 starters out not counting Pat that they are going to get back.

Chiefs! • Oct 19, 2019 01:13 PM

People that are mad about the QB sneak understand that his ankle had nothing to do with someone falling on his knee, right? I mean are people really mad that Andy called a QB sneak on 4th and inches? Tom Brady has run 186 QB sneaks in his career, and guess how many times he’s got hurt. Zero. Being mad about the play all is dumb. Don’t be dumb.

Pat will be back either for the Chargers game or the Raiders game after the bye. There is no reason to give up draft picks and trade for a QB. Andy will have Moore ready and they can go 2-2 in the next 4 games, and still win the division.

2021 Recruiting • Oct 18, 2019 04:47 PM

@BeddieKU23 Cal and Coach K are just on a different level

Chiefs! • Oct 18, 2019 03:21 AM

They are not going to trade for another QB. It will be the Matt Moore show until Patrick gets back.

Todd to Michigan ( for now ) official

2020 Recruiting • Oct 17, 2019 03:42 PM

@FarmerJayhawk I wonder why he is even visiting. Everyone knows he is going to Michigan. ( at least committing there)

Honestly what else would Self being doing today? Just playing the game here.

Recruiting someone we have a chance at...

I mean I know it is part of the game and maybe he does think he can flip him or is just doing it out of respect.

@FarmerJayhawk I wonder why he is even visiting. Everyone knows he is going to Michigan. ( at least committing there)

2020 Recruiting • Oct 15, 2019 02:38 PM

Gethro is announcing on November 1.

New 2019 Recruiting • Oct 15, 2019 01:33 PM

N'Faly Dante that played at Sunrise and went to Oregon is ineligible for the first semester. Trying to get cleared for the second. Wouldn't be surprised if he never plays college ball.

2020 Recruiting • Oct 12, 2019 05:11 PM

Gethro taking another unofficial to Louisville. Second in two weeks. Seems like they lead for him.

2020 Recruiting • Oct 11, 2019 05:31 PM

@FarmerJayhawk Any idea on when Gethro will announce? It looks like he has taken 4 OV and doesn't have anymore scheduled...

I know we are not going to get any "elite" players this year, but it would be nice to get someone on board and try to get some sort of momentum.

@BShark he is going to be a kid that other teams just hate. Just hard nosed and always hustling.

Media Day • Oct 10, 2019 12:06 AM

@approxinfinity yes sir! Hard to believe .

Media Day • Oct 09, 2019 09:13 PM

Just watched the whole thing on ESPN+. Self is 100% laser focused and ready for this year to start. You can tell he is motivated as heck and knows he has a good team. That PC just reinforces there is no one else I would want coaching my team other than Bill.

I think Braun might be the X factor to this season.

27 days until Duke!

2020 Recruiting • Oct 09, 2019 03:26 PM

@BShark Those are some good examples.

Does anyone know if you can look up where these two kids were ranked coming out of HS? Just wondering if they were even legit prospects before JC....

2020 Recruiting • Oct 09, 2019 03:08 PM

Who was the last JC kid that made a impact on college basketball? At KU Mario Little was a good player, but there are just not many at all that go on too become even decent players.

I understand the situation that KU is in, but even with that this is pretty concerning to me.

Ty Berry • Oct 07, 2019 08:46 PM

KU never really recruited Berry. Usually there is a reason for that.

2020 Recruiting • Oct 07, 2019 01:12 PM

@FarmerJayhawk the better hope they get him then. They are in no position to turn kids down in hopes of landing someone else.

What a throw by Stanley there. Pooka finally broke a good run too.

@rockchalkwyo I am going to try and watch it in the morning if it is available on ESPN+. Not sure if you can go back and watch things on there or not. Won't be home tonight or would watch it live.

What's the Worst Part? • Sep 26, 2019 05:34 PM

I don't mind the allegations, because I am a firm believer that every school does this to some extent. Especially the "blue bloods" and big boy programs. This is nothing new. It was happening in the 60's with John Wooden and is still happening today.

However, after seeing what happened to GT today I now believe there is no doubt KU is going to receive at least a 1 year postseason ban, and Self might be suspended for a year. If that happens then I think Self will walk away and be done with KU and possibly coaching overall.

The Big 12 tournament and the NCAA tournament is the best month of the year for me. I have been to every Big 12 tournament for the last 25 years, and often travel to watch KU in the NCAA tournament. So not being able to do that for a year or two will be a huge bummer for me. Not too mention those seasons will be pretty much pointless.

Trouble? • Sep 25, 2019 05:47 PM

The way I read that is it does in fact put a pause on everything including the 90 days KU has to respond.

This is classic NCAA. They over reached here and KU smacked them back and they were not ready for it. Now they have to suspend everything so they can get caught up and get ready for all out blood bath KU is about to unleash.

2020 Recruiting • Sep 25, 2019 12:41 PM

Love cancelled his trip to KU and has cut his list to Mizzou and UNC . No surprise here.

2020 Football Recruiting • Sep 24, 2019 06:31 PM

@FarmerJayhawk I know it is absurd. It is amazing how many athletes the top tier of college FB accumulate.

Clayton would just be a monster grab for Les. I feel like it would be that signature recruit that might open the flood gates to better players for KU. ( assuming they produce on the field)

2020 Football Recruiting • Sep 24, 2019 06:26 PM

FarmerJayhawk said:

Zach Evans (5* RB) is likely going to UGA. I still think the main competition for Clayton is LSU, but if we can land him, that would be terrific. If we can get the DT on campus too that would be awesome. I think he ends up at TCU but visits will make a difference for sure (and if we can beat them Saturday).

If that is the case then UGA would have two 5* RB's in this class. Wouldn't make a lot of sense for Clayton to go there...
