Finally something good.

We're OK, they're OK • Mar 12, 2021 12:53 AM

watching this team slowly bleed out is nauseating.

We're OK, they're OK • Mar 12, 2021 12:51 AM

Jalen doesn't do help defense.

Rumors • Mar 10, 2021 10:41 PM

@nwhawkfan Unfortunately Long just got fired. However, the bright side is, if things come in 3s, then we should be done..

Long Out • Mar 10, 2021 10:38 PM

@mayjay Yes. This would be a good idea.

Long Out • Mar 10, 2021 10:35 PM

Long, shot.

Vaccine • Mar 10, 2021 10:28 PM

@Marco That's really interesting.. I spoke to a nurse at UCSF who had the shot in Jan.. she said she felt punky the evening she got the 2nd shot, but took some tylenol and that allowed her to work just fine the next day.

Long Out • Mar 10, 2021 10:24 PM

Long goodbye.

Long Out • Mar 10, 2021 10:23 PM

@FarmerJayhawk agreed.. I do think it's important for him to have input, but he can / should not make the decision.

As for Danny.. I love him, but I can't help but think that would be risky and irresponsible. The person who comes in needs to have some experience pulling things out of the fire, cause that's where things are right now. Priority one: Don't let things that aren't burning catch fire, and put a perimeter around the fires right away.

This will be a crazy tournament.

@Kcmatt7 I would love to hear that!

Nothing brings back the memories like a song.

Tonight I was listening to spotify and "In the Stone" by Earth, Wind and Fire started playing.

Suddenly, 30 years melted away and I could hear the KU Band playing their distinctive arrangement during an extended TV time-out or a few minutes before tip-off. I could feel the excitement, and could see the newspapers flung into the air.

If you don't know the song, find it on a streaming service or youtube and play it. If you are like me, you will be teleported to AFH.

It reminded me how integral the KU Band is to the AFH tradition and experience.

Anyone know if they still play that song, or any of the others staples, such as "The Horse" by Cliff Nobles, or "Boogie Down" by Al Jarreau? Would love to be reminded of other songs that will trigger more memories that are in the deep recesses...

Great find!

@approxinfinity I think your last point is key. The ball needs to move. Dave doesn't need to have fewer touches for everybody else to have more.

Yes. Passing feels like the key problem for this team. The poor shooting has been confounding because I have seen Abaji and Braun pour in 3s in the past.. This year it is a struggle and I think that is because the defense seems to be on them. Percentages between open and covered 3s are vastly different... and these guys are covered a lot, so there are more rushed and forced 3s.

Better passing can open up guys on the perimeter before defenders can get there. It can also create lanes for driving and opportunities to pass to the interior... If I could pick one thing to improve, I think it would be passing because I think it would in turn relieve many other woes.

The question I haven't been able to answer is why is this team struggling with passing so much?

This game matters a lot more than I thought it would a month ago... and a lot more than I wish it did.

Hope we can establish a little momentum to take us through the back half of the conference schedule.

Long pause. I don't have the game.. Did something happen?

KU/ Tenn , so what you think ? Game time • Jan 31, 2021 12:53 AM

Not yet.

KU/ Tenn , so what you think ? Game time • Jan 31, 2021 12:50 AM

There is time for one of those famous team meetings where the players reset themselves. The players are playing hard, but they need some intangible.

KU/ Tenn , so what you think ? Game time • Jan 31, 2021 12:46 AM

I don’t think talent is that disparate. I really feel like the system (if there is one we are running) is not fit for the talent.

KU/ Tenn , so what you think ? Game time • Jan 31, 2021 12:44 AM

In our defense, Tennessee has travelled repeatedly and been called once.

KU/ Tenn , so what you think ? Game time • Jan 31, 2021 12:37 AM

Dribble drives is ok if that is the system. But we don’t seem to run offense that really is optimized for that.

We just don’t seem to have an identity.

KU/ Tenn , so what you think ? Game time • Jan 31, 2021 12:34 AM

Not good passing either. Ball sticks. Lots of dribble drives. It’s like we are in between two different systems. Like when Self took over for Williams.

KU/ Tenn , so what you think ? Game time • Jan 31, 2021 12:30 AM

I hope you are right but I don’t see it.

What I see is a broken team with no offensive confidence.

KU/ Tenn , so what you think ? Game time • Jan 31, 2021 12:28 AM

This team is not coming back. If anything it may balloon to 30 points by game end. This team has no confidence.

KU/ Tenn , so what you think ? Game time • Jan 31, 2021 12:25 AM

Making Tennessee look like they could beat Gonzaga.

All kinds of streaks are in jeopardy this season.

Baylor Game • Jan 19, 2021 04:07 AM

We probably are the only team to play #1 and 2

Baylor Game • Jan 19, 2021 04:05 AM

Losing to Baylor won’t hurt our rank that much. We might fall out of top 10

Baylor Game • Jan 19, 2021 04:01 AM

This team is improving. The imperfections are infuriating but they have good talent that isn’t clicking yet. Long season.

Baylor Game • Jan 19, 2021 03:58 AM

Officials did suck.

Baylor Game • Jan 19, 2021 03:54 AM

They are not unbeatable (unless the officials call the games like this.)

Baylor Game • Jan 19, 2021 03:52 AM

At this point just have to hope for missed free throws.

Baylor Game • Jan 19, 2021 03:52 AM

Better foul choice.

Baylor Game • Jan 19, 2021 03:51 AM

Garrett should know better

Baylor Game • Jan 19, 2021 03:50 AM

Stupid stupid.

Baylor Game • Jan 19, 2021 03:48 AM

Baylor is a heavyweight but the officiating style has favored their physical strengths.

Baylor Game • Jan 19, 2021 03:46 AM

Love the effort to scrape back. At least we in a closer battle with Baylor than we were with gonzaga at this point.

Paul Pierce College HOF • Dec 01, 2020 10:43 PM

This got me fired up for tonight! Thanks guys!

I think Pierce is getting into the college HOF based on his body of work, which includes his current role as an ambassador of the sport in the studio and booth at games. One of the greatest Jayhawks of all time who happened to be a member of one of the greatest teams as well.

Spanberger, my House Rep lost her shit on her fellow democrats on a call today, telling them to never use the word socialist again and to distance themselves from the defund the police movement:

If you'll recall, she was one of the House Democrats that called for impeachment, and I'm happy she won reelection.

She’s so, so right. A lot of the voters D’s really want, and lost ground with in 2020 vs. 2016, are more conservative than the liberal whites who run the party.

Couldn't agree more. The GOP messaging was banking on the fact that the fear of socialism > fear of autocratic leader.. and it appears they were right.

The "crap on Trump" thread • Aug 28, 2020 03:39 AM

I try to be responsible and listen to both conventions. But after the events of this week combined with listening to the poisonous rhetoric from Trump, I want to mail my ballot ASAP and then go live in a cave until Nov 4.

@stoptheflop said in 2020 CFB Updates:

@Texas-Hawk-10 How much more money will the teams that do play this fall make from television broadcasts? I don't know if this is all good, but KU's games will be on all the prime stations playing in all the sports bars and homes in America. I assume most Big 10, PAC 12, etc. fans will still watch the games that are being broadcast. That's going to be a lot of viewers who otherwise would have been watching only their conference's games now watching SEC and Big 12 games because that's all that's on.

When you ask how much money the conferences/schools make this year, are you looking for the amount they have immediately after the season concludes or are you looking for how much they made after deducting the health care and legal costs deducted from profits over the next few years. I suspect conferences will be paying for this decision for quite some time.

Wish the Big 12 was a leader, but it's a follower. Interesting to see the conferences that are leading (Big 10 and Pac12.) My guess is that the ACC will side with them and the Big12 and SEC are the two pushing to play no matter what.

I also think they will eventually conclude that it isn't worth the risk of conducting a very public experiment with student athletes' lives when the peer conferences have decided against it.

I don't want to go backwards! Let's just skip forward to the happy ending! (there is a happy ending, right?)

The "crap on Trump" thread • Aug 11, 2020 04:38 AM

@FarmerJayhawk "Weird" ballots are good. It sends a message to the parties (not the same message as voting for a 3rd party candidate, but similar) and it doesn't 'throw a vote away'.

I have always voted like that. I like to think it means I'm voting for "the person" and I don't subsume values that perfectly align down party lines.

Edit: I’ve also heard Biden say more racist things than Trump.

I don't know what to say to this.

We are certainly NOT hearing or seeing the same things.

I'm not going to defend Biden. I already said there is plenty of reasons to be apprehensive about Biden.

But my decision will be based on Trump's body of work. And, taking that into account, a banana peel has more integrity, is more qualified to perform the duties of the presidency and is less dangerous — even if you are running with forks — than Trump.

I mean, c'mon! He's botched this whole pandemic and recovery stimulus and made the US look more inept than most 3rd world countries. The resulting health costs are going to be ginormous.. and the national debt which has soared, is going to take a century of sacrifice to reconcile.
