@Bwag Mark Few = Bill Self
Calipari = Coach K 😂 perfect
Dan Dakich = ass
@stoptheflop I agree winning would take a ton of pressure off the Chiefs. Losing doesn’t doom them though as they own the tie-breaker against LA also. So win 2 of three and the Chiefs are in.
Given recent history (9 straight) I’d say the Chiefs have a good chance to win here. Unfortunately it looks like both teams may be starting their 3rd string runnning back. Lucky for us viewers Mahomes and Rivers have big arms.
@Kcmatt7 Pyramid is good pizza too. I’ve got a good friend that gets his jugs filled up at Freestate every time he goes back to Lawrence. I thought the food was ok, but not special. He loves the beer though and he owns a bar, so I suppose he’s way more qualified than me on that subject.
There is/was an Italian food place north of walmart south of the dorms that was pretty good. I can’t remember the name- don’t tell my wife I proposed there. ;)
As mentioned above your best bet may be to wander down Mass street and see what smells good. It’s been too long fo me to know unfortunately. I need to get back for a few days myself!!!
@Bwag To each their own. I wanted to pick a restaurant specific to Lawrence, not a chain. My mom would choose Pizza Hut. Lol
As far as small chains in the area go I really like Oklahoma Joes, which became Joes more recently. I prefer the original KC location though. It’s just better than Olathe. I don’t know if they have a Lawrence location, but it’s a niche they could fill. I never found barbque in Lawrence that I liked, but I’m sure someone in here has.
For pizza, it’s got to be the wheel - with a braided wheat crust. Don’t forget the honey
LaFamilia used to have decent Mexican food, but I think they may have closed a few years back.
For a good steak go somewhere else.
@focojayhawk I think there is a 30% chance the alphabet boys go after Nike schools. It would be 0% if the adidas trial had come back without convictions.

People suck as a general rule.
And a year to practice to get up to speed, so you don’t have this pity party again. Bill Self - transfers preferred destination. Works well both ways, Self’s system like Wright’s demands time to learn. Learn it in the off year and shine!
@JayHawkFanToo Ayton...just sayin’
@justanotherfan Good grief, a few of the better local teams occasionally play Stratford, Texas. They get destroyed.
My best friend growing up moved there, his kids got involved in football and he claims the amount of practice time is incredible. It’s pretty much year round.
As of today all KU risks with Silvio are forfeiting the games he played in last year including the final four. Since KU pulled him as soon as they publicly found out I’m hopeful that doesn't happen. On the flip side if you play Silvio and you are forced to forfeit the games later does it taint the memory? Does it make you feel dirty, like a Kentucky fan? If KU won a championship and had to forfeit it would it be worth playing him? Even if KU wouldn’t have won without him? Glad the big guy has morals or we’d find out the consequences of playing Silvio.
@Woodrow Exactly. I’m saying he was over-rated to begin with.
Grimes was ranked around 20th in HS. Surely there are 9 returning players in all of the NCAAs that are better. 30th is closer to where I thought he’d project anyway. 6th was drinking the cool-aid IMO.
Thad Matta = Lon Krueger
@FarmerJayhawk The lack of interest is similiar in the fan base out here regarding Sean. Actually it’s more of a please, no! Leavitt perks up ears. Littrel gets a blank stare.
@FarmerJayhawk As in he has a say, or input that can be ignored? Seems like he’s run his course in Manhattan. I’d listen to what he has to say and do whatever I wanted, were I the AD. Or is Snyder the AD too?

Why does it matter what Snyder wants? Dude was fired, regardless of the story the public was given.
Snyder is incredibly influential at KSU. He's the most powerful man on that campus by a large margin. He has more "juice" than the president and AD combined.
Snyder has more influence at KSU than Bill Self does at KU, and its not particularly close. He basically has a say in anything he wants to have a say in. They teach a leadership class based on his 16 pillars or whatever he calls them.
I'm not sure there is a person at a D1 school with more power and influence at their university than Snyder has at KSU.
Had. His act has gotten ahem old. It’s sunset time. Hope it doesn’t Paterno him, but I do hope for KSU he disappears only to return for fund raisers as requested.
@stoptheflop KU was behind MichState until this poll also. The NET isn’t ready to be viewed yet, maybe never...
Why does it matter what Snyder wants? Dude was fired, regardless of the story the public was given.
As a Chiefs fan, Mahomes is payback for watching other teams do that to our D for years.
@Bwag Yeah, but even KU was knocking on the door with an undefeated (nearly) season. Play a good schedule and win and you’re in. Lose and you better have been highly ranked to begin the season to stand a chance.

@BeddieKU23 No way the NCAA wants to mess with Duke. KU isn’t playing DeSousa this year. Zion is playing and has a ton more baggage than DeSousa, but less proof at the moment. Assuming the Zion payment happened it insulates KU from infractions - if they go after KU’s wins with DeSousa they’d have to do the same to Duke/Zion. And do we really think anything truly negative will happen to Duke?

Hate to mess up Duke in any way shape or form.

Where is the high ankle? I've never understood that.
It’s basically a broken ankle if it’s a high ankle sprain. The bones separate and it takes time to heal.

@BShark What is not being spoken in this discussion is the marketing of players at KU. There is a definite TV payoff for playing at KU where people know you, recognize you, and follow you. Now, simply playing here does not mean you'll automatically be drafted, but getting publicity never hurts. If Billy had been a double digit scorer on a Final four team, he might've gotten more looks.
Exactly what I was thinking. The NBA drafts on potiental. Preston wasn’t able to display his upside so he slipped well out of the first round. With a little productive play at KU (or Duke or Kentucky) and he likely would’ve gotten a guaranteed contract.
@Woodrow Sounds ominous.
@Gorilla72 Hate losing my passwords too. Pain in the rump
@kjayhawks lol He’s still “protecting the goods”.
@JayHawkFanToo Years not over, but it’s not my comment. Just sums up how disappointing Wiggins is. It seems Wiggins flat out has no desire to play basketball other than for the money.
KU doesn’t have the shooters to put up more threes. Vick and...?
Last year I wanted to see nothing but threes by Vick, Svi, Graham and dunks by Dok. This year the shooting isn’t nearly as good and the offense needs to be more creative. I really think the best offense this team will have is playing good defense and getting runouts. We’ve seen flashes of awesome D, now to get the guys to play that hard on D for an entire game. That’s what has set the ‘08 team above all the others to come since- D.
@mayjay The Star was/(is ?) Running a special on the online stuff for next to nothing. I didn’t jump on it, because the free articles are enough for me. The Wichita Eagle runs many of the same articles too.
@mayjay I just don’t read that rag very often. My cell phone has no issues with the cookies. I suppose it has different IP addresses depending on the WiFi hookup and maybe network (different towers?) It could be they are storing the IP address at their server and cutting you off that way. If that’s the case a VPN software changing your IP address could help. I haven’t had issues, so I’m not sure.
@nuleafjhawk O coordinator? Lol

3 fights in less than a year?!?
Urban Meyer is retiring. Ryan Day to replace him.
This comment kills me (too true and I wish him better) Maybe Wiggs can’t shoot, but at least he plays lazy defense, doesn’t rebound, and has never averaged more than 2 assists per game.
@approxinfinity Kind of a wash Love is a headcase full of panic attacks and currently sidelined by injury. But he did help Cleveland win a championship. Wiggins is an overpaid slightly above average player with amazing god given talent that he doesn’t utilize. I’m doubtful, but hopeful Wiggs figures it out someday. The T-Wolves are trash though and I don’t think Thibs is getting the most out of these guys- his offense sucks.
Self knows:
“Not defending the arc is probably not a remedy for success playing Wofford,” Self said. “They’ve got some guys who can really shoot it. They’ve got guys … what appears to be maybe a marginal shot or bad shot are great shots for them. Whenever one guy (senior Fletcher Magee) has shot 11 threes a game — he has shot 87 and Lagerald (Vick) has been on fire and shot 47 (making 28 for 59.6 percent) … think about that. We’ve got to do a great job of defending the arc.”
“That shows us a lot,” Self said. “We’re fortunate to have the record we have. Also I think when other guys start seeing the ball go in the hole, it’ll definitely change our team. I’d say the three-point line is a concern both ways.”

@mayjay I’m really glad Houston wasn’t added to the big12. It would kill any chance KU has of recruiting Houston. Not that KU is great at recruiting Texas, but it would be one more power 5 team to recruit against in an area KU’s had past success.
UCF was an interesting option good football, huge student body. Would open up Florida recruiting/exposure to the Big12.
Louisville was the team I was hoping would be added. Even with the current shenanigans Louisville, long term, looks ok.
UCF isn’t one of the top 2 teams, so it doesn’t really matter if they’re in or out. As long as Bama and Clemson get a chance the rest is moot. No legit complaining from undefeated, but consensus 3rd place ND, as they get a shot at the title. Oklahoma, Ohio State and Washington should not have lost if they wanted a shot. Oklahoma got lucky to be included, but has no legitimate chance to win with a defense that gave up 40 to KU. The current system gives the best teams a chance to duke it out for the title. A larger playoff would include more teams, but would it crown a better champion? SEC grievances aside Alabama is very deserving of the title shots they’ve had.
