@kjayhawks The SEC still plays 4 non-con games too. Imagine scheduling an extra W per year. Also your conference feasts while the other conferences begin taking Ls. No way to avoid conference losses when youāre playing in conference, so the SEC gains ground they donāt deserve over the other conferences.

As of today Grimes looks very little like a pro prospect. More like a Euro baller. Xavier Henry would be an upgrade at this point. Hopefully all the potiental he oozed last year comes to fruition by the end of the season like other slow starters (i.e. Oubre, Alexander etc.) I cant wait until Grimes āgets itā!
Self runs a lot of variations of the same play. Subtle changes in the D dictate slight changes in the execution of the play. This takes time to figure out. Selfās system isnāt dumbed down like Calās freshman dominated teamās system is. Upperclassmen shine in Selfās system. Transfers have the advantage of practicing a year so they do well also. Freshman take a little time to figure it out. I look for vast improvement over Christmas break.

As Bills pointed out during the Stanford game, you gain nothing by helping off the corner guy. The drive is already resulting in a contested shot, flashing in from the corner doesnāt make it more difficult it just leaves a guy open. Self knows this, he exploited it with Svi for years. Why the guys defend that way is beyond me. Maybe years of HS ball ingrains it into them and its a hard habit to break. Maybe itās just different enough from how you guard out top they lose their minds in the heat of the moment. But itās definitely something that needs beat into the defenders head.
@KUSTEVE You are right the Chiefs arenāt left with a bare cupboard Ware is a good HB/ great backup. He is a load to handle and can catch the ball out of the backfield nicely. Unfortunately he lacks big play ability, but he does look fully healed up now.

Teams get over-ranked every year based on hype. No way was that 10 loss 13-14 KU team a 1 seed, but had Embiid played who knows what couldāve happened? Duke isnāt the best team right now, but the hype around Zion will make them seem like it no matter what.

Guys already skip bowl games to no get injured. I.e. Christian McCaffrey. Football in Lawrence in January in a blizzard sounds like no fun. Football north of Texas outside of a dome in January sounds like no fun and would skew the results ending in a champion no more true than the NCAA tournament. Just a tourney champion, not a true champion. Best of series are the only way to determine that and thereās no way to safely extend the football season long enough to accomplish that.

New #1 Ohio State! Initial NET rankings clearly donāt have a large enough sample size and are flawed at best right now. Looks pretty sketchy.
So the regular season doesnāt matter in determining the champion? Why devalue 12 regular season games completely? Every game is a playoff game as it stands. It seems you have a distaste for the regular season and only value playoffs, but as it currently stands every game is important.
The NBA, NHL, and MLB get the playoffs right. If youāre not doing series itās hard to tell who the better team really is on the close teams. Some itās obvious.
I still say the playoff is working. OU and WSU are not among the two best teams in the nation, so their omission isnāt really a problem. Itās not about participation ribbons and giving everyone a chance; itās about rewarding the best regular season performers with an opportunity. There are too many times 3 teams could lay claim to being the best in college football with no way to sort it out. I donāt see more than 4 teams laying a legitimate claim to the top spot.
The NCAA basketball tournament gets it wrong many years by inviting too many teams to a single elimination tournament. Iād hate to see football go down the same path.

Oāahu is expensive and crowded. I liked the big island more, personally. I never made it to Maui, howās it treat you @mayjay? The West Indies, Jamaica in specific, is less expensive, has different peoples (more Europeans less Asians) than Oāahu which gives it a different tourist vibe in addition to the different culture. Both are fun and Iād love to go back to either one as I watch the snow blow today!!!

I was hollering for Svi in the corner, but it wasnāt to be. I really miss that lights out shooting. I donāt see anyone on the team that can make threes like that guy did as a Sr. Looks like shooting will not be the strength it has been the last couple years. Hereās hoping to see the defensive effort they started the second half against Marquette with more often.
I thought Moore could shoot the rock? 3-10 with several layups not even close. If thatās the shooting we get out of Charlie Iāll take Garrettās intangibles any day.
@wissox 17-4 vs top 10 teams since ā13-14 including 14 straight is what was reported last night. Must be regular season games as you point out though.
Other than the preseason games we have yet to see what Dedric can do. I think (hope) heāll get on track soon. I wish he would dunk the dad gum ball from time to time!
Beyond the starters I donāt see much guard talent. I thought this team would be much deeper.
Hereās hoping Charlie gets up to speed and Garrett stops shooting 3s! Usable depth would be nice! Charlie as a spark plug off the bench with a deadly shot and Garrrett off the bench to shut down the other teams best wing and drive to create fouls is what Iām hoping for.
Garrettās D is solid. His shooting is horrendous. Something like 1 of 8 from three this season. Same flat footed delivery that he misses free throws with too. Itās just a picture of pure ugliness. I was hoping to see some improvement this offseason, but that hasnāt happened.
Hereās hoping Grimes can get his performance up to where he logs 35 minutes per game.
Garrett coming in for defensive assignments and spot duty would make me more comfortable.

@Texas-Hawk-10 It seemed the Roy Williams teams would sometimes come out in November and be as good as they were going to get all season. I like that Billās teams get better all season.
When KU decides to guard they are scary good. When they donāt, they are very beatable.
No reason exists for Dedric Lawson to try to spin this. He has played much better basketball than in his opening stretch this month at Kansas.
His shot looks off, legs a bit tired, confidence down a notch. And maybe when it clicks for Lawson, primarily just the frustration will disappear. He earned his nickname, Smooth, after all, for the way he makes the game appear almost effortless.
Lawson should have scored 30 in the opener against Michigan State and 30 more on Friday against Louisiana, coach Bill Self said. Instead, the heralded transfer from Memphis got 20 and 19 -- before and after an especially rough Allen Fieldhouse debut as he was held scoreless in a KU win over Vermont on Nov. 12.
While second-ranked KU features two of the Big 12's best in Lagerald Vick and Udoka Azubuike in addition to star freshmen Quentin Grimes and Devon Dotson, Lawson is the wild card on the floor.

Jacksonās comments at the combine about Bill playing him out of position all year, may not be accurate. He canāt shoot well enough to be a 3. It kind of irked me at the time; I wonder if his attitude has improved any?
Our water is so hard I have to replace our tankless heater every 2 years. (Springs a leak in the heating coil) Itās been under warranty every time, so itās just a free upgrade. However I get to do the work and there is usually a day of no hot water.
