Feeling the Fieldhouse magic? • Jan 26, 2025 01:18 AM

Why does Houston get to stay in the huddle? Weird ref

Rylan having a decent game is nice.

These refs have been…fun

Ugg flory goal tended his own basket.

How did KU ever lead this game as well as Houston is shooting on well guarded shots?!? Rough

Fool’s gold • Jan 26, 2025 12:19 AM

Fighting ignorance with the entire quote.

“[Making 3s is] fool’s gold … You want to [make 50 percent of threes], but if that’s what you play to, then you’re not going to be able to hang your hat on that if you play a team that takes away the threes and forces you to score inside and things like that, and you can’t do it. You’ll end up going home sad … That’s the name of the game, in my opinion, is getting easy baskets and eliminating easy baskets. And we’re not doing near a good enough job of doing that inside.” (February 2015)

Bill doesn’t hate shooting threes, he’s against running a poor one dimensional jump shot offense.

I'd love to see students given seats behind the benches. Can't think in the league which schools allow this but UofI, UofM, MSU are some I'm familiar with. When I attended We had the section behind the KU bench up to the aisle and behind the north basket, besides the nosebleeds. Not sure when it changed.

Lew Perkins changed it.

Wow. An athletic wing. Been a minute.

The good thing about these refs - they don’t know what a foul is, so Flory can play extended minutes

Refs are bad, but KUs play will determine the outcome.

Karma three

How does Hunter have 1.5 bpg? I expect that to fall off a cliff in conference play

7’2”

Are Raf and Fran clones? Same bad taste in Mayo jokes if nothing else.

That floor ain’t Christian lol hurts the eyes

What would they do if they reversed the blocked shot call? The ball was loose. Just lose a possession? Not the best outcome.

Didn't rebound so what's the benefit

Need to pop in some tape of Withey. Learn how to stat pad. Grab the ball and get a rebound and a block.

Does somebody want him???

Might be able to get a bag of chips or a used ball or something of equal value.

Mythbusters: Bill Self, minutes, and March • Jan 22, 2025 03:37 AM

I'm not sure how you can watch the team with Dajuan off the court and think he is the problem.

I feel like the biggest issue for this team is a lot of the pieces don't fit well together. Too many non-shooters but also Storr doesn't make much sense on a roster with Zeke and Hunter.

Juan in a vacuum isn't the problem, but his weaknesses are magnified by the roster construction. There are a lot of good things Juan does that I think people take for granted.

I wish Rylan would play more minutes.

I wish Rylan would earn more minutes.

Yeah… hard to imagine having the Zuby/Udeh tandem in the paint now! Maybe Self could have run his original hi/lo with those two!

The one time I chatted with those two I tried to get them to imagine being the next great Kansas bigs. Twin towers in the paint as upper class men.

They obviously needed seasoning, but crap Zuby was starting it’s not like he didn’t get run. But run they did.

Found this interesting

The Irish’s helmets are repainted with gold paint for each game.
The paint used is estimated to be around 37 troy ounces, which is about four level spoonfuls.
The cost of the gold paint is estimated to be over $50,000 per game for 100 players.
The cost of the gold paint for a season of 14 games is estimated to be around $700,000.

2024 NFL Season • Jan 21, 2025 12:51 AM

To elaborate a bit. Both risky and smart to not go the retread route. McCarthy isn’t winning in the playoffs. Carol is good, but a pretty short term option. Other known options were less appealing. I’d say it was a good hire.

2024 NFL Season • Jan 21, 2025 12:49 AM

@wissox He was the hottest offensive coordinator option. I believe he will help Caleb immensely. How he manages the rest of the team? His coordinator hires will be telling.

@wissox Good hire.

My crisis of faith in Bill • Jan 20, 2025 03:07 PM

@Kcmatt7 Greene was one of the best shooters I can recall playing for KU. Too bad he was such a hot head. It was heart warming to see he helped save a someone from a car wreck after getting let go, but I was hoping it was him that he saved.

@Jhawk69 Historically, KJ has not been a good rebounder. But he's been trending up over the season, rather significantly.

In the 3 games before he got hurt, KJ averaged 7.7 rebounds. It's disappointing it's taken this long (4th year), but if he can keep up this pace, and average 7-8 boards per game here on, I think that would reduce a lot of the criticism he's been receiving.

I'm not smart enough to figure out how to upload an image here:

But the increase in his rebounding rate looks nice.

I bet KJ has been reading KUbuckets and realized a hole in his game! Lol

My crisis of faith in Bill • Jan 20, 2025 03:13 AM

You don’t have to tough it out, the first sign of adversity just transfer. Don’t grow and overcome, just look for a better situation in the near term.

Former Texans vs Current Texans • Jan 20, 2025 03:06 AM

@BShark Chenal has blocked a field goal to win a game against the Broncos, another in the divisional round and one more in the Super Bowl. He already belongs in the hall of good, even if he never earns a yellow jacket. Great roll player.

KState game thread • Jan 19, 2025 09:46 PM

It’s been proven time and time again that Self does try to maximize the talent he has. Some guys only get short run to hide their flaws. It leaves us fans salivating for more and thinking the coach is a fool for benching whatever roll player is the flavor of the week. When given extended minutes they almost always prove to be just that - a roll player with serious holes in their game that the coach has to scheme around.

You’re messin’ with me, right? If not, I apologize. The NFL has a pretty grand budget. Yes they have helmet coolers/heaters on the sidelines. Heated benches. https://dragonseats.com/ ↗ Forced air heaters. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.essentiallysports.com/stories/nfl-news-how-nfl-players-stay-warm-during-extreme-cold-do-their-methods-work-green-bay-packers-kansas-city-chiefs/ ↗ Swamp coolers. https://bigfogg.com/blitz-24-oscillating-sideline-misting-fan/ ↗ heated fields https://m.youtube.com/shorts/c6SZYodKW8E ↗

Because the blood is flowing in an area of the body with little to no fat to protect it. If it was truly dangerously cold it wouldn’t be rosy pink. It’s really it that bad out - very little wind and no moisture.

Former Texans vs Current Texans • Jan 19, 2025 12:17 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 that’s what the forced air heaters that are blowing are for. As well as the helmet warmers.

@Crimsonorblue22 The bench itself is heated. There are heaters on the sidelines as well. The field itself is heated. The players are fine, it’s the fans in the icy stands that have it off rough imo.
