You realize that the $30 packages is the espn unlimited package that includes all the live ESPN channels, not just ESPN+, correct? Not apples to apples. Thatâs actually a great deal as it would make it where I donât have to get Hulu tv live or YouTube tv to see most games.
@approxinfinity said in How to sign up for ESPN plus/select/unlimited:
I signed up for espn+ standalone for 12 bucks a month on disney site last night. I thought i recalled not being able to do that last time i checked. So maybe too many people werent ready to pay for their bundles
Wow itâs $12 for espn+ alone? I think weâre still at $15 with Disney+ and Hulu. Paramount, ESPN+, HULU live TV, Peacock, Disney+âŚ. A la carte to death.
@BShark lost cause.
@BShark So you're saying Bill thinks they have more to give. Good sign for things to come.
@nuleafjhawk it gets expensive getting all the different services. I only have Hulu live tv for sports. In the offseason it goes away. There are less expensive options, but theyâre a bit shady.
If Flory doesnât improve the NIL money heâs tying up + DPs should be enough to entice Stokes. Problay need a bunch of players though, so it would be wise to not overspend on one guy unless heâs the lynchpin that makes it work.
Ideally Flory improves and Stokes signs too! In a perfect world.
Dang. Way to save yourself for the right one!
@approxinfinity Gotta be smart with those NIL dollars. So far Flory has had the least return on the money - a poor value/investment at this point. Hopefully he becomes worth his pay or they cut him next year.
Still curious if he gets hurt if KU stands by Flory like they did Elmarko - might just kick him to the curb due to salary demands and limited funds. Thatâs something Iâm truly wondering how it would play out as it would be more about the character of the coaches and AD. - Are they better people than Flory or are they just about the business side too?
Hulu tv still has all the ESPNs for similar money.
If Flory doesnât improve thru the year does KU pay him what he wants again? Or do they spend the NIL money elsewhere? So far this year heâs a bad investment, hopefully that changes.
Absent NIL demands Floryâs future would just be about development and seeing what he can become, but the NIL dollars must be spent wisely and he has a big price tag. That changes the need for production to now.
@approxinfinity Nice to be worried that some athletic stud will round into form as opposed to some plodding jack wagon.
When you demand a bag a critical eye will come with it. Heâs not carrying his weight yet. Hopefully Flory will, but his frame and skill level will limit him.

How does one build an app that gets shittier every year? Amazing.
ESPN ran out of money. Had to fire tons of people. Thus no pre or post game for KU games anymore - thatâs my biggest complaint so far. Spent too much on buying rights of games to hire people to cover them. Unfortunately itâs games Iâll never watch - (anything other than KU or Chiefs is off my radar) Bidding on sports rights nearly sank a couple companies, but not winning the bid would. If theyâd just figure out theyâre running the price up on themselves they could cut costs - no need for a bigger contract if they collude - like the wayNFL running backs are paid.
@FarmerJayhawk said in Jayhawks vs. Roll Tiges Thread:
@wissox KU drives subscriptions so itâs a money winner for Disney and NBC. Nobody is going to pay to watch Cincy UCF but KU is a different beast
This is a it. If KU was more average they would be on regular TV not anchoring ESPN+. The Jayhawk is very recognizable and respected (some love some hate) in basketball.
Flory has the best pick and roll game. The rest of his game needs a ton of polish.
They said during the game broadcast Peterson started feeling bad (for the competition) during halftime of the last game and will sit the Ft. Hayes game out too.
@nuleafjhawk said in Lance Leipold:
@patoh3 what's a Dunnigan? Local bar and grille? I honestly don't know.
Itâs a place in yolo county.
@approxinfinity Hove him 5 classes before passing judgement. Switching coaches too often hinders a programs as well. All us fans (of any team or sport) just want to skip the line and be awesome, but itâs a process to build and sustain success. Hopefully thatâs what we are witnessing. If not there will be another swing at it in a couple years.
Give him a lifetime contract. Changing coaches isnât going to help KU football. Itâs a moribund program. Itâs like expecting the Cleveland Browns to be good - maybe make the postseason, but to truly threaten for a title - not going to happen.
Iâm enjoying winning 4 maybe 5 games this year. Way better than previous years. It helps that the Big12 lost all the good football teams - no Texas, Oklahoma, Texas AM, Missouri, or even Nebraska. Thatâs the disappointing part for me - no good team in the Big12 and KU still canât capitalize. I know theyâre not good, but I was hoping for an inflated record due to the competition sucking hind tit.
The best thing about this football season is that basketball has started and we no longer have to pretend like we genuinely care about KU football!!!
The coach is only going to take you as far as the QB will go. The QB will only take you as far as the line will allow. The skill players have to complete the plays. None of it works without the other parts.
JD is probably maxed out - this is what we get this year. Hopefully the next QB seizes the job early and leaves no doubt.
The announcers last night said - KU is ranked 19 and Louisville 11, theyâre going to have to do something about that. đ
Peterson 24 Louisville 30. Didnât get that out of the PG (or any position) last year!
Maybe he could play for KU again. Howâs that NIL budget looking? lol
Apparently teams are recruiting the G league guys and somehow signing them. Spoiler alert Izzo is not happy about it. -
The good thing is Lance is still here so he can work past it. Way better than some past lies told - I will be the next great KU center. lol. I donât give a damn about the North Carolina job - you canât recover from making stuff up when you run away too. Now to see Lanceâs character when caught in a lie/misunderstanding. How does he handle it? Does he accept responsibility or just ignore it and hope it goes away? What example will Lance set for those young men?
I went to late night as a freshman and then never again. Itâs silly (Harlem globetrotters silly) and I rather like the serious basketball. Iâd be curious to see the scrimmage, but itâs hard to take much from it given the effort level.
I 100% agree with Calipariâs philosophy. Did not see that coming.
Although Arkansas added key players -- such as five-star recruit Darius Acuff -- the program also lost standout talents to the transfer portal, including Boogie Fland (Florida) and Zvonimir Ivisic (Illinois). In his attempt to avoid the turnover many teams have experienced, Calipari has warned his players that entering the portal means their time with the Razorbacks >is over, even if they have second thoughts.
"That's why if someone puts their name in the portal, I say, 'You're not coming back,' because it's not going to be transactional," Calipari said.
@BeddieKU23 I know nothing of Dawson, do you know if he has a history of soft tissue injuries or knee problems? Hopefully this is a one off.
@indku1972 It was on espn+ last season and if google is correct this year too -
The KU Late Night in the Phog for 2025 is on Friday, October 17th, at 6:30 p.m. CT. While it is an in-person event, the scrimmages are streamed online via ESPN+, the KU Athletics website, and the KU Athletics Facebook page.
@approxinfinity Itâs an indicator that all things may not be as they seem. It is rather disappointing.
Turns out the knife being thrown was fabricated by Lance. Or perhaps a case of operator gone wrong. đ¤Śââď¸
"A pocketknife was thrown and hit one of our staff members," Leipold said after the game. "It's ridiculous. It's supposed to be for safety and things like that, and it's a culture that's been accepted to a point, and it hasn't changed. Eventually, somebody's going to be seriously hurt, unfortunately."
Texas Tech submitted footage to the league this week that proved the claim to be inaccurate.
In Texas Tech's response to the Big 12's sportsmanship inquiry, obtained by ESPN, athletic director Kirby Hocutt wrote that the school combed through all available video footage and interviewed eyewitnesses near the Kansas bench when the issue arose in the fourth quarter.
The video footage Texas Tech submitted raises questions about whether the pocketknife was initially dropped by someone on Kansas' sideline. The video shows a Kansas player reaching down to pick up the closed pocketknife on the field apron near the 38-yard line and handing it to a KU staff member.
The staff member handed the pocketknife to Leipold, who brought it to game officials. Texas Tech was assessed a 15-yard penalty for throwing objects onto the field.
"We believe this video makes it clear where the pocket knife originated, which will disprove all claims that it may have been thrown from the stands, and certainly makes it clear that it did not hit any member of KU's staff on the sideline," Hocutt wrote.
The Big 12 said Tech's fine was for the objects thrown onto the playing surface, while Kansas' was for disparaging comments about the conference and "an inaccurate statement regarding a pocketknife by head coach Lance Leipold."
@nuleafjhawk Donât accept their deal. I have a 3 year deal for $3 per month flat. If you tell them thatâs the only deal you will accept, theyâll come around. If you want XM back, that is.
McDonaldâs cost too much. Everything is overpriced these days, but me. đ
@approxinfinity The thing is KU basketball players are only that. I donât care about their personal life. I donât care about what they did before or after KU basketball. So if theyâre not a KU basketball player theyâre no one. There are something like 25k students at KU - I donât know a single one. I want them all to succeed, but if they donât I will never know. No skin off my keister. Same with KU basketball players, I donât know anything more than they play basketball. There will be articles telling me they went shopping for the less fortunate for Christmas, but Bill makes them do that. If one of them does something special outside of basketball while playing for KU that would be a first.
For instance - weâve all been told about Thomas Robinson and the hardships he faced during his tenure at KU. Losing loved ones is always difficult and becoming the head of the household at such a tender age is difficult at the least. Did a single person on here try to offer any tangible support for Thomas or his sister? Send a letter of support to TRob or a goodie bag to the little gal? Fan mail when he was struggling in the NBA? Nah, because the support is superficial and really tied to KU basketball.
It all rings hollow when people say they care about the individual- thatâs compete bs. We only know them because of KU. They are nothing to us before they become a recruit of KU and only are in our lives because of KU. If they in turn spurn KU then they are out of my life too.
@approxinfinity said in We're preseason Number ... 19:
@wissox ok mc crankypants⌠we have been talking extensively about a lot of these guys. And when have you ever known the name of the walkons?
Things change. Hating change is a little bit pissing into the wind unfortch. Not everything can be as immutable as good ol KU buckets! ;)
Hang in there.
Very little player analysis. No new threads started for the individual 2026 recruits even through theyâre highly regarded. It seems the current landscape has dimmed our love of college basketball to the point no one really cares. Or the smart folks have left us. lol probably the latter.
@approxinfinity Maybe. But a falsehood is a falsehood and a liar is a liar. Wrong is still wrong. Experience isnât gained by running from difficulties. As a matter of fact I donât believe any core values have changed, just a large group of Americans have lost their moral compass. Because it has been normalized doesnât make it right. Thatâs something I hope people are teaching their kids - core values that arenât dependent on others giving them positive reinforcement. Most times itâs difficult to do whatâs right, but damn it pays off.
Zuby may have done whatâs right for him. But if you havenât re-read what was said in moment, on here about him you probably donât realize the amount of revisionist history goin on here.
For this fan Zuby doesnât exist. He isnât a Jayhawk. Who cares? It was his decision to leave after starting and being given a full ride. If thatâs not enough positive reinforcement for his little ego then he needed to go to grow.
Flory is also a piece of work in my books at this point, but he has a route to redemption and itâs not his play on the court itâs how he conducts himself off the court when things arenât perfect. Zuby doesnât have a road to redemption - heâs no longer in Lawrence.
TL;DR anyone crying over that 3 year old split milk is an embarrassment to the Jayhawk Nation. - part of the wine and cheese reputation we have. Players on other teams only matter on game day.
Iâm looking forward to watching the group come together. Hopefully they gel and itâs fun to watch as opposed to the show weâve been treated to lately.
@Crimsonorblue22 Well thatâs better. Makes it more stupid than malicious. A real head shaker - what a genius.
@FarmerJayhawk I agree. Spend in the trenches.
@rockchalkjayhawk Simmons was in California for a personal matter. I donât like it, but am reserving judgement until a reason is given. I donât believe he is injured, so hopefully good news. Also it looked like Moore just put Taylor on notice. RT of the future Iâd suppose at this point.
Iâm curious if Flory were to blow out his knee if KU would pay him for his re-hab year since his deal seems to be very year to year. For any player that hasnât tried to transfer out this would be an ethical dilemma. For Flory it would just be business. Would his salary be worth it if he wasnât playing? Would they stand by him like they did Elmarko even though Flory didnât stand by KU and conduct his salary negotiations in private?
Re-read the transfer thread thru the 1700s comment mark to get the in the moment feelings of posters. Now with hindsight itâs a different vibe and everyone knew Zuby would be a stud. đ
Iâm not sure why so many are stuck on the past. Heâs not a current or future Jayhawk. Zuby doesnât matter.
Also less than two weeks before he transferred out Zuby looked me in the eye and said he would be the next great KU center - well after Hunter was inked. He lost any and all credibility with me then as his true character showed thru. My personal experience with the guy has developed my opinion of him. Newspaper clippings seem to be the reason people like him here. I will never support someone who lies to my face.
@approxinfinity said in Ranking centers for 2025-26:
In fact I think St Johns got Zuby for a steal if I recall. Kid wanted to work his ass off and play.
Did he though? He had an avenue to minutes at KU and chose to flee to a place that promised him minutes instead of an opportunity to earn them.
@nuleafjhawk The individual should be held accountable. Just like at any other riot. Itâs not a faceless crime - there is a specific person that needs punished appropriately. That whole punish the team for some fanâs action is seriously flawed - youâre just asking for an antler to dress in KU garb and get KU in trouble or something similar.
Bill Snyder and Tom Osborne are models for a program like KU. Lance is as good as it gets, heâs in that mold.
@approxinfinity I mean this is KUbuckets right? Not St Juanâs buckets or wherever that ex Jayhawk plays at. None of that once a Jayhawk always a Jayhawk bs, if you leave for another program youâre a turncoat.
@nuleafjhawk Yeah. I remember that, but I was a kid. My entire adult life KU has sucked at football outside of a couple outlier years and KSU has owned KU football, just as KU basketball has owned KSU.
@bskeet -3 wins? Hasnât KU lost all those games? Or are you combining all sports? Kansas has lost 15 straight football games to Manhattan. 28/31 or some nonsense. KSU mustâve been absolutely wretched in the early days for KU football to still have a winning record against them.
@Crimsonorblue22 Was the knife open or just hurtled like a rock? Iâve not heard that fairly important detail yet. If it was open charges need filed.
@FarmerJayhawk Without Mahomes they would suck - so you donât have to go that far. The Patriots just handed the Bills a L and the Pats are 58m under the cap. The Eagles bought the last championship with by being about 200mil over the cap with dead money structured into future cap hits. Money is inportant, but the Jimmyâs and Joeâs you spend it on are more important- see UNC football and the GM and Belichek that everyone was drooling over in the offseason - ooh shiny failure.
KU football is never joining to be in the conversion of a national title. The only reason fans currently think KU is decent is the Big12 is really bad at football - like d2 bad. Itâs good for KU, but whomever gets invited to the playoff (TT) is going to get embarrassed by a real team. Iâm just trying to enjoy being above .500 and possibly going to meaningless bowl games, itâs a huge improvement.
