Really hoping our guys play their normal tough defense,attack the rim on offense and find a way to ignore any antics by the KState fans. I hope CBS decides not to emphansize the earlier hostilities by showing the altercation over and over and then showing whatever is going on with the fans. KState is lucky to be playing KU because it gets them on network television. KState as a team needs to find a way to compete so it doesn't waste the benefits of being seen by a larger audience. This will be interesting and I hope our guys get a decent lead early and keep the lead throughout.
Big key today is to really value our possessions. K-State is going to slow this dam thing to a slow crawl. Even though w are at a slower rate we still WAY faster pace. Every possession going to be big , they going t run the clock down on every possession, we have to play the full possession on defense.
The talent level between these two teams right now is crazy, K-State fans even say as much themselves, they have no chance against us if they try playing a faster more possession game.
You can take it to the bank they going to attack , attack , attack make the official make a call - - which they will to try and keep the game in control. It would not surprise me is Doke wasn't in foul trouble very early in this whether these are legit calls or not will be total BS calls but watch.
In the end I think we still win , but the officials will make this a lot closer game then it should be, multiple players good chance of foul problems gonna be a very choppy game - - stop and go I think , no flow AT ALL. - - ROCK CHALK ALLD AY LONG BABY

I miss the good ole days of the streak. No not the nationally adored conference win streak. I mean the no losses in Brambledge coliseum streak. The no losses in Manhattan from 83-07 streak was fun to rub in the mild cats faces when they got too rowdy back in the day.

Was watching ESPN this morning at 8:00 and the blip scrolling across the bottom of the screen was all about how they were bolstering more police for the game - - -a large police presence.
I've been saying this , this week the game is just like a smoldering burning brush pile, don't like it ,don't like it at all. This thing could get ugly , it could get really ugly really quick. Sure maybe not the players. OR maybe it could. I know it might be pretty hard not to , if a player think there is ANY what they perceive as a cheap shot. - -You know K-State players are going to be playing out of there minds really aggressive just trying to bait the officials, they gonna bitch at every foul called that will in turn just incense these idiot fans of their's that much more.
This is a game whee I could see ALOT of players in foul trouble as the ref's are gonna be blowing whistles every time you turn around trying to keep things under control. I'm seriously concerned about one of our Players getting hurt by some bull shit action of a K-State player or fan/fans
Am I over reacting? - -I think not , these are legit reasons,/concerns. Ya they better have police control with these idiots. The School/Big12 officials obviously are taking pro cautions for the reasons I mentioned.- -I can just see turning ugly if their not careful. - -and people that are saying oh I want a rowdy crown your just throwing fuel on the fire not very smart thinking. This tournament is going to be interesting. All of the good teams are flawed in some way. But all of them can be outright dominant in some way as well. I'd put the tiers this way:
Tier One: Kansas, Baylor, Dayton, Gonzaga
Tier Two: Duke, Louisville, San Diego State, Florida State, Kentucky, Maryland, Villanova
Tier Three: Creighton, Seton Hall, Auburn, Penn State, Oregon, BYU, Iowa, Michigan, West Virginia, Colorado, Texas Tech, Ohio State
Tier Four: Michigan State, Houston, Arizona, Butler, Virginia, Florida, Marquette, Arizona, Illinois, Utah State, New Mexico State, Stephen F. Austin and probably a half dozen or so other mid major teams.
So the tiers give us a pretty good layout. It's likely that any team from Tier Three can beat any team from Tier Two, but probably not from Tier One unless they play perfectly. Any team from Tier Two can beat any team from Tier One, but obviously could lose to the Threes or the other Twos. The Fours probably can't beat the Ones, but could beat the Twos on the right day, and could beat the Threes. But the Fours could also lose to basically anyone else at any time.
This tournament could be really unpredictable, because I am not sure that any team doesn't have at least seven or eight teams that can beat them on any given day. We worry about Dayton, Duke, and Kentucky, but Louisville and Maryland could be a problem, and on the right day, I'd worry about Seton Hall or Auburn. And that doesn't count San Diego State, Baylor, Gonzaga and others.
And the thing is, that's the case for literally every single team out there.
Couldn't agree more and plus there is one other team that I would shy away from till later anyways. I watched them beat Gonzaga and that is BYU. - They shoot 43 % from the three and we know how that goes from previous NCAA"s - -al la Villanova Not saying that I would run scared but like you mentioned on any given night. - -we played them early but they was missing one of their key players in that game , he went off for 28-10 on Gonzaga.
I have never seen a year so wide open as this year - -I can think of 7 teams right off without any hesitation that could win the thing this year. Indy is about an 8 hour drive from Lawrence and Houston about an 11-12 hour drive from Houston. I don't know about the proximity of the airport in Indy to their arena, but in Houston, unless you're flying Southwest into the smaller airport, it's not convenient at all to get from our big airport to downtown where Toyota Center is.
Selfishly, I'd rather have KU in Houston so I could go see them in S16 and E8 games, but with Baylor being a pretty strong lock for a 1 seed as well, there's no way in hell KU gets the 1 seed in Houston. KU is going to be the 1 seed in Indy, Baylor in Houston, and Gonzaga in LA, and whoever gets the 4th 1 seed will be in New York.
Well from what I heard the # 1 overall seed gets to pick what region they want. - So if KU ends up being the # overall they can pick the South and the Houston region instead of Indy, that's what they were saying anyways. - -Like I said it's not going to matter to me cause I can't go wherever but just sayin

they were talking either region your going to have to face tough teams. It could either be Dayton in the Midwest OR they could always move Florida State to the South. Ok , now let me say I'm a big as Marsha hater as the next guy, but I've got a question. - -Was watching them against Temple. - -Wichita State is now 21-7 on the year and yet they all talking about how Wichita State can not lose about they are squarely on the bubble and just can not afford to lose.
So how can a team be 21-7 now and one of the last 4 in. I know there has to be a logical explanation , especially with College Basketball being down across the board this season and 21-7 and your squarely on the bubble ?
Guys, I'm not looking forward to this weekend really. We have everything possible going against us Saturday # 1 were Suppose to be a rival - - but in order for it to be a real rival , one team has to beat the other more then once in a blue moon- - # 2 They have had a crappy season - - # 3 We had our little Royal Rumble at the Phog when we played earlier this Season- - # 4 - -Were Ranked # 1 in the Nation - - # 5 Their idiot fans and that hole is gonna be jacked beyond reason , we think LAST year was loud and rowdy? - - probably twice that this year. - - # 6 - -this whole scenario is like a smoking powder keg , and what they perceive as anything rough from KU - -just gonna add up. The only thing is , The talent difference is SO one sided - - Huge Gap between the two. Before it begins in 3 weeks, we could well see cancellation of the whole tournament. The Coronavirus isn't going away soon, and it has taken less than a month to go from a regional epidemic causing a few travel bans to parts of China, to a major international emergency that is closing some borders, disrupting businesses, creating havoc in the stock market (over 10% down in a week), and roiling travel arrangements throughout the world. I can only imagine how the CDC will react to thousands of basketball fans fanning out across the country if we see very many more cases of spreading without identified vectors.
You just never know. You got the leaders telling us one thing , saying they have this under control , and the cases are going down - -then you have the CDC telling us different. I know this , we were at 14 , then 15 and then I heard of now 60 confirmed infections here in the US What's crazy is like in San Francisco with the ladies case they having a run on masks , BUT the dam CDC advising people NOT to be buying the masks because the medical personel need the mask when working with the infected people - -umm you could dam well bet I would be buying mine , they say there are none on shelves now.
I heard the virus is now spread to 50 Countries, The US and South Korea have called a halt to the joint manauvers . - The sports teams the Japanese Pro baseball teams are now playing their games in empty stadiums it could very well prove very interesting

Don't really think this has as much to do with being Cable - -this game being on CBS, and Networks like that don't normally run Basketball in prime time. They're games on the weekends during the regular season is usually ALL day time games , even Sunday games are during the day. The only times you see these Networks run prime time games Networks such a CBS/ NBC are during the Tourney.

Reading from Evan Daniels on Kendall Brown says : That Kendall going to take official visit to Ohio State this weekend, who has been aggressively recruiting him. Minnesota and Pitino was in to see him last night , Iowa State was in to visit with him , and visited KU last week and said that Kendall had been to KU a few other times. He has taken a recent trip to Marquette. - - -Virginia & Maryland and some others also involved. To early to handicap a leader but that Kendall seems to be stat taking things more seriously.
Evan also had another player he talked about , which Ku was involved with he is the #6 player Michael Foster. Evan says : - -there had been some talk about Foster re-classifying , but his mentor Chiante Clay says as of today that's very unlikely.

The saad part of it is the dam incubation time span on this thing is 10-14 days - - -that means people can be walking around with this for 2 weeks and no even know they have it and could be spreading it. - This is spreading all over Europe. -- Italy had an increase of this Virus by 50 % in ONE DAY from the day before. - -they best get busy on this dam thing

I Think you are so far beyond 100000000000 % right on the refs making the calls - - really , really , really tight for a portion of the game. I just hope they stay one way or another on calls.
As a former official myself , in our pregame with the team Captains always made it a habit of telling the guys - - ok lets have a great game , play right - move your feet and don't reach , you know what's a foul and what's not. - -found that if we let them know from the beginning saved a lot of headache later, the last thing the officials want - - the Coach's want - - the fans want is a dam foul fest, really hard to get any rhythm if you are having to have a whistle blow every other time down the floor.
It's a lot easier to call it close in the beginning of a game , get things under control , players knowing dam if I do this - - I'm getting called. - -A lot easier to call it close early then to let it go and then try and tighten it up late in the game and a real mess if it's close. - you do that then you have people questioning - -well hell I've been doing this the entire game and NOW you wanna call that? - just easy to call it tight from the get go.
If the truth be known a referee could call a foul EVERY time down the floor for something if they wanted to - - nobody wants that. - -I have always felt AND been told that a sure fire way to know whether it's been a well officiated game or not is the Players , the Coach's , fans - -will neve even know the referees are there - -you won't hear a lot of whistles. -Clean game. - - People don't realize that people as fan how much they really miss even if they are on the front row of seats. - -Unless your actually out there on the floor with the players , you STILL miss a lot of what actually goes on in a ball game - - ALOT of contact and other things.
That's why I feel your right about them calling close in this, I'm even sure they have been reminded by the Big 12 office , WATCH , and keep this under control , might make for a really hard game to watch but your spot on. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

I honestly feel like we usually get a pretty fair shake most years. Creating a "fair" tournament with 64 teams while considering travel costs, and most importantly ad revenue is certainly not a simple process.

OU needs the Texas win more than they needed last night. Last night was the one game OU could've lost and kept their tournament hopes alive. With them and Texas both winning their midweek games against ranked teams, their game on Saturday is much bigger now.

For all the talk of "parity" and "no one dominant team" in college basketball this season, predictors would be wise to pick the programs that are tournament-tested. The bluebloods are bluebloods for a reason.
This year may well be the one with no VCUs, no Loyola-Chicagos...no Cinderella teams in the Final Four, or even Elite Eight. Just a group of good to better-than-average teams.

Guys I've been thinking the last couple of days , actually at different times this season. Now I hear some people here and there and I agree with them but I dunno , and I could be wrong and I'll readily admit chances are I am.
Don't get me wrong I love KU actually I've let my feelings/emotions probably go to far sometimes throughout my life - - especially when I was younger. At a younger age you just didn't say a single thing bad about the guys or we would have issues - - typical hot head to quick of temper, have been able to manage to temper that some lol.
Ok so anyways just have to ask - - WHAT am I missing about this group of guys ? -- I mean were good ,I know that not saying that at all BUT for some reason this team just does not WOW me. Where is the WOW in this team ? You know what I'm saying ? - This team does just not sit me back and say like DAM they crazy good -no flash. I mean you know - - where is that WOW factor at with this team ? - Someone tell me with this team just stuns you, makes you say - - we got this - -something that you just kinda of like OH YA - we good . - I just don't see it, not necessarily saying it has to be that way, but in years past we had that player that just kind of like at times you could go DAM - they just balled. - I dunno I know making a lot of nothing but just different. - If I were an opponent, this current KU team would not be a team that intimidated me, they just don't look or put out that kind of vibe where they can do that.
I mean cause look at it, sure we have beaten the teams we should of Beaten BUT what would you say has been our best win this year ? - - Every time we have been challenged by other teams closer to us - - we have got beat. Duke ,Villa Nova , Baylor -what's our quality tier one win this year? Would have to be West Virginia.
I could easily see us losing at West Virginia - - - Baylor - - - Texas Tech - hell never say never to K- State upsetting us at their pig pen with their extra added motovaition -probably not but a chance. - -Like I said I'm happy with the way the Season has gone but just not had the socks knocked off, a lot of inconsistences Will still say IF we don't win the NC, you watch it's going to be what's been our weakness all year - -our inconsistent 3 pt shooting & Free Throw shooting. - -just some pondering thoughts guys. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

@Woodrow As will Duke fans, and Kentucky fans, and Baylor fans this year. It makes me laugh how every year, each region is the hardest depending on who you talk to! I honestly feel like we usually get a pretty fair shake most years. Creating a "fair" tournament with 64 teams while considering travel costs, and most importantly ad revenue is certainly not a simple process.
