Thoughts On SE Mis St • Jul 10, 2017 05:53 PM

I plan on going for ether this game or the CMU game depending on how my work schedule turns out. Too early for me to make a prediction besides pain for the redhawks. SEMO at least seems to be better than Rhode Island who was one of, if not the worst team in FCS the past few years.

NBA Summer League • Jul 10, 2017 05:35 PM

Spot on with Selden and Diallo @BeddieKU23 both look to have break out seasons. I would agree that that Mason looks to end up in the D league, I doubt he gets a contract but on the other hand its still very early and a big adjustment to this speed. LL has gotten in one game that I've seen and didnt look horrible with 2 points, 2 assists and 3 rebounds in 11 minutes, he just doesn't seem athletic enough for todays NBA style, maybe 15-20 years go.

Friday, July 7, 9:30C ESPN2 Josh v. Frank • Jul 08, 2017 03:45 AM

Didn't get started til after 10 pm because the first 2 games ran late. The first quarter is up tied 22-22. JJ looks decent got 5 points and 3 boards. BIFM only played a few minutes and got a an assist but missed a runner that was half way down. Did anyone see Diallo play today?? Dude looked pretty damn good with 27 and 10. He's starting to develop into the player most thought he could be. Buddy Hield also plays for the kings.

@wrwlumpy Man that sounds like all sorts of fun to me. Some folks on here don't like him playing for Ukraine ( Injury risk and away from the camps that the other hawks are doing together) but i think anytime he can be playing is a chance to improve and being able to play with the team this year in Italy unlike the World University Games in 2015 helps. Plus its gotta be tough for him being half the world away from his friends and family for 11 months of the year. I'm he has grown accustom to Lawrence, but I bet it still can be tough at times.

The struggle for Fizzou to stay relevant continues. Also guys hating on the state of Missouri often forget that so good things have come from that state. For instance the tooth brush was invented bye a Missourian because if it was invented anywhere else it would be called a teeth brush.

@JayHawkFanToo I see what you are saying but its not like KU makes as much in KC as it does in Allen, St. Louis would be in the same boat as Wichita from that stand point. WSU is actually starting to Schedule B12 teams, I think to try and get KU to play them.

I don't think it would be a considered a home game maybe a Semi home game. I actually want us to start playing in Wichita at Intrust Bank Arena. The first 2 rounds of NCAA action for us is likely there this year and KSU plays a game there every year. To be honest before 5 years ago I only saw KU and KSU fans in Wichita for the most part over WSU. I think as long as they are able to host NCAA games we should try to play a single game there every year. I wish they had made the place a little more user friendly, the seating is super tight and parking sucks (I have no idea why they didnt spend a few extra millions and make it like Omaha, which is 100% better).

KU TO BIG TEN??????? • Jun 28, 2017 02:12 AM

I hope so, i think we would compete better in Football and it would be a down grade most years in basketball tho.

@jaybate-1.0 Really? Do a little homework before you start yapping. First off, no it wont be allowed at games and secondly most bars do not allow CC in their business and if they did it has fart fire nothing to do with KU it up to them. I'm kinda split on the topic but if some students had guns at the VaTech shooting I bet less people would've died. I'll tell you like I tell others that are against guns, I'll gladly give up my guns as soon you take them from the criminals first, if outlawing guns would keep them off the street so well why don't we try it with meth. Oh wait we already did and it doesn't work. "It's better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt" Abraham Lincoln. I don't mean to be a dick but I get tired of the political bs from sides (I'm independent, there all crooks) but atleast do some research so you're informed on a subject you wish to discuss.

@Lulufulu It's crazy how bad of a job Phil is doing and how he is still there is baffling. I personally like the Russell trade and sounds like they'll let the most talked about guy that sucks in Nick Young go in to free agency. but if im running that show I'm drafting JJ second overall, he is the best overall player in the draft, next I sign CP3 in the free agency and draft another PG like BIFM to learn from him. Then sign undrafted Koenig from Wisconsin as a SG and a trade or sign a veteran SG. Think of a CP3, JJ, Ingram, Randle and Lopez line. I think with the right bench and which SG you could sign that could be a playoff team right away.

I spit out my drink laughing when I read this. I'm sorry I don't mean to harp on the kid but man his dad and Magic are gonna make him the most hated man alive if he doesn't produce. I personally would've drafted him about 20th if I'm being honest.

KU Gets Slapped by Draft • Jun 23, 2017 11:31 PM

@jaybate-1-0 Frank was the NPOY man. Frank sadly is the only 4 year PG guard that Self has had here that didnt go to a NC. I personally don't give a rip about the NBA, just hope our guys make it. Being a lottery pick doesn't always mean you will be a star. Several guys have ended up being bust and guys like Thomas for Boston have done good things as well as undrafted guys.

2017 NBA DRAFT CHAT • Jun 23, 2017 10:42 AM

Congrats to frank for making his dream come true, wished it was a few picks earlier to get a contract but he just needs a chance.

@approxinfinity ya pretty disappointed in that, i thought Frank had a good shot going there.

Nice to JJ get another top 5 pick for KU, Really hoped he went to LA to be with Trob, Black and to bust the Ball bubble.

2018 Kansas Jayhawks Football Recruiting • Jun 22, 2017 08:46 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 I'll agree that MM was hard on his players and held them accountable for there actions. I have two friends that played on that team one as a walk on and one as a starter both from the same HS that said their HS coach was meaner than MM. They told me MM was an asshole but never did anything that bothered them, Perkins on the other hand they hate and claim is a snake that split up the team bye telling guys that ever got yelled at were being mistreated, said Perkins had meetings almost daily with players trying to dig up crap on MM. MM was fired because he had dirt on sweet Lew Perkins, the guy famous for ruining 2 university football programs in Kansas. But he is long gone and it don't matter now i guess.

2018 Kansas Jayhawks Football Recruiting • Jun 21, 2017 01:47 AM

@Kcmatt7 @Texas-Hawk-10 One other thing to think about is the 08 and 09 teams had lost the majority of that 07 defense and were flat out terrible by all accounts. I think only TGs defense of 2011 was worse. I could see there was something wrong with Ressing early in the Colorado game, a game we win with an average defense as well as the Fizzou game and KSU is a win with a healthy Ressing. The Wright kid along with sweet Lou (perkins) are two of the most hated people bye most KU fans I know. Still cracks me up a 6'3 200 and some odd pound athlete was hurt because MM poked him SMH what a pansy, he wouldn't of made it thru middle school where i grew up.

@Kcmatt7 @Texas-Hawk-10 ah yes a football debate. I love it!!

Shh this might be Coach's best team ever • Jun 13, 2017 11:47 PM

I think this team will be better than last years, does that mean FF and NC? Maybe, we will find out. Personally I think we can defend and rebound so much better, on paper last years team was the worst defensive team under Self. We had to out score people to win and we were in the bottom 3 in rebounds during Selfs tenure. Doke is a big help in those departments all bye himself.

Looks like Chalmers was right James still can't win a title without a Jayhawk on the roster.

The Slow Death 💀 of ESPN • Jun 13, 2017 10:49 PM

@globaljaybird I agree a 100%, politics and sports have no business being reported together. I only watch ESPN when KU plays on that station. I used to watch 30 for 30 and sportscenter all the time. I think its BS to push the liberal propaganda on people and fire anyone who disagrees like Roger Clements. I'm a independent so i really don't care to hear ether side of the stupidity (both sides got us into the mess we are in and people arent smart enough to realize it). On the positive side they did ask Hank Jr to come back to MNF (was fired for publicly disagreeing with Obama), its just a attempt to get back some conservative viewers that have written them off.

@wrwlumpy I would've given anything at that age to go play for KU let alone seeing the world for free while playing bundle that up with a free education and I don't believe these guys have it all that bad.

Big Game Bob is gone • Jun 08, 2017 11:50 PM

@Kcmatt7 I would agree but 56 is super young for a head coach to retire, especially with a team that can make the CFP. @globaljaybird I think Ive got a better shot at a lottery win than him going to KSU. I highly doubt he'd go to another B12 school being at OU 18 years. People forget he is a grad of Iowa and was at Florida as a DC before he went to OU. I feel the same way about Self returning to OSU and no way KSU pays the nearly triple Snyders salary to get him. KSU athletics wants to be profitable first and for most.

Big Game Bob is gone • Jun 07, 2017 11:31 PM

Huge hit to the OU football program. Some where Texas fans are rejoicing. I smell a scandal, why leave at this time? He said it wasn't due to health or family concerns. He has a stacked team that has the best shot to make the CFP of the B12. Anyway its a big hit to the conference, he is likely a top 5 coach among current coaches. Best of luck to him.

Thad Matta Out • Jun 05, 2017 09:19 PM

@Kcmatt7 Who do you think is going to replace him? Already heard Marsha, Donovan, Crean and Mack, not sure why you'd a failed B10 coach in Crean but who knows. Maraha is already a top 10 paid coach and would take prob 5 million a year to get him to consider it.

KU vs Fizzou? • Jun 05, 2017 02:32 AM

@HighEliteMajor I agree with some of what you are saying. Stanford wasn't a great team bye any stretch, but they played a D1 SOS. That's one down fall to a WSU or any other mid major pick in march, its tough tell how good a team really is playing in the 150+ SOS year after year. WSU should've been a 5 or 4 seed and Stanford a 9 or 10. WSU could beat Stanford but we'll never know what would've happened there. RPI is a joke IMO, it favors SOS too much. We were I believe a top 3 RPI team in 2014. Granted we didnt have Joel down the stretch but no way we were better than an elite 8 team IMO with him. I guess we are debating nothing at this point lol. Self isn't playing them and I can see why, maybe some can't but its not up to us.

KU vs Fizzou? • Jun 04, 2017 03:36 AM

@HighEliteMajor I agree that they kicked or tails and anything else is indeed an excuse. I'm not sure I agree with the 15 WSU team beating the 14 Stanford team , Stanford was super tall. KU dominated on the boards against WSU in that game being pretty even on size. KU without Cliff had no offense whatsoever down low, I don't mean to bag on LL and Traylor that game but they sucked up the place. Wessel went nuts and hit 3 after 3 while shooting just over 30% on the year. I'll take Black over LL any day of the week no question in my mind especially over sophomore LL. Black avg 6 and 4 in 14 minutes playing with a 7 footer (that was an absolute stud) most the time, senior LL only avg 8 and 8 in 26 minutes sophomore was 3 and 4 in 15 minutes. So I'd say its a pretty save bet Black or Cliff would've fared better than LL in 2015, who if we are rating bigs that played meaningful minutes he comes in dead last. Sorry i love all the hawks but LL wasn't a D1 guy, he had no athletic ability. There was a reason last years opposing big man after big man had career nights against him. In regards to playing them I don't really care, no one has a winning record against us that plays us year after. Look at our conference foes and former foes. WVU is is the only within a country mile of .500 against us because they've only played us a hand full of times. Playing a power 5 school like Nebraska always looks better on paper and when this series was made Nebraska had just ended their NCAA drought. A mid major is a no win on a home and home schedule. Self has done it a time or 2 but mostly its when we are recruiting a kid from the mid majors area. We already get the best players in Kansas. WSU is headed down ward IMO, they will have to play teams on a regular basis inside the top 150, which they didn't in the Valley, I think its easy ti be healthy in march playing a Juco SOS and resting playing the final 8 minutes all year.

KC Chiefs category...? • Jun 03, 2017 02:41 AM

Chiefs waived WR Jeremy Macklin today, always disliked him from his fizzou days but never really thought he panned out to the receiver most thought he would in both KC and the NFL. Agree with @Kcmatt7 If some of the younger guys don't step up soon the defense will be suspect. I personally disliked the Mahomes pick, I'm not sold on him whatsoever. I'm not sure of the guys that have decided on the QBs in my life time from Montana to Smith and every Bono in between but they (I know its multiple guys) are the worst judge of talent ever!! Why do we always have to trade for back up that had one mediocre season? or in this case trade up for a guy that is tiny and just throws the ball up for grabs. He's just like Manziel only worse, I'd say. Who would've thought drafting little know Croyle and hoping he was the next Favre (tho he clearly wasn't from the get go) was the best move.

KU vs Fizzou? • Jun 03, 2017 02:28 AM

@elpoyo Lmao seriously? Shockers are 3-13 against us all time. I don't think they beat us that game with Ellis healthy and big Cliff able to play. You look at WSU in that game and there's no way they win minus a starter and another one not a 100%. They ended up the better team that day so congrats to team ig. I think the last 2 years with B2B elite eights shows what we could've done in 14 and 15 with all of our players but hey that's life.

KC Chiefs category...? • Jun 01, 2017 02:24 AM

Little traffic so far but hey its not quite June yet i bet it picks up in August. It will be hard to watch Charles play for the broncos for sure but I don't blame the Chiefs for letting him go or him going to pretty much the highest bid, thats pretty much the way pro sports go these days.

What the hell? • May 30, 2017 12:24 AM

Wow are folks searching to bring down KU. So after an intense pick up game, they had a heated exchange that is all that is known, has anyone ever played a pick up game?? Seriously i remember playing on the play ground and guys getting into it after a hard foul and what not. How is this a story to any extent? The media now days is such a joke, anything, I mean anything to stir up drama. Gotta get those ratings...

KU vs Fizzou? • May 29, 2017 04:48 PM

Recently I've seen some flack from the Fizzou side about not playing us again all the sudden, and there was an article on KU sports about it. Where does everyone stand on the topic at this point 5 years removed from the series? I personally do miss the rivalry. I dont know that KSU rivalry feels quite the same based off of it being our in-state and most of us having family on both sides. On the other side of the coin I think now that they have fallen off of a cliff in both BB and FB the last few years they want a game with some extra meaning so if they do by some chance win they can be happy. I think at this point I would be okay playing them again but IMO its just a plot to make them relevant again, kinda like the WSU wanting to play in BB again I don't see us gaining a whole lot from it.

KU Basketball and NASCAR • May 29, 2017 03:46 PM

It could be a former KU athlete. My Brother was a tire carrier on a pit crew for several years in NASCAR. Now a days most of the pit crew guys are former college athletes that they teach how to work on cars to be as fast as they can possibly be. NASCAR used to be a big thing around my house before they ruined it. Kansas native driver Clint Bowyer is from Emporia and a known KU fan.

@stoptheflop Ya you never know for sure, Heaps and Crist supposedly went thru practices without missing. I think Bender has a chance to be solid. I think Stanley could be decent, personally of the QBs played the last 2 or 3 years here I think Willis had the most upside. Its crazy to think the Ohio State had a 3rd stringer that was good enough to win the NC a few years back and we can't find one that's decent enough to compete in the B12. The kicking game and the Qbs must play better this year for us to have a chance to improve on our win total. I'd have to look it back up to be sure (which im not lol) but our QBs collectively had over 30 turnovers as a group. Which every TO wasn't their fault, I remember a couple of WR tips that lead to picks but man thats one position group. I believe we ranked 126 of 128 FBS teams when it comes to turnovers.

2018 Kansas Jayhawks Football Recruiting • May 27, 2017 09:45 PM

@AsadZ @jayballer54 Yes he was from free state in Lawrence. He red shirted as a freshman last year, playing safety. I think he realized he wasn't going to play at a D1 school. No hating here friends lets wish one of our home grown the best.

This list is a joke right?? Joel Berry FF MVP, back to back FFs and ACC regular season titles is at 19? wow. The Porter guy thats going to the black hole known as Fizzou is #2 and the tripping sensation Allen at #1. No Newman? Newman is my sleeper for B12 POY. Doke could easily be a lottery pick with a solid season next year as well. ESPN go home you're drunk!!

Am I the only one who doesn't get the least bit excited for preseason polls especially ones in May? We are are Kansas, we are preseason top 10 just about every single season and they seldom predict who actually wins the NC anyway. Not to sound rude but I dont care about rankings outside of the one released in april after the games are done.

KU has had 10 starting Qbs since the 2010 season started and I'm betting will see starter #11 come September. He are my rankings:
1. Michael Cummings, led us to a win against ISU in 2014 but was over looked bye grad transfers Crist and Heaps for much of his career. Had the unfortunate ACL tear in his senior spring game (still say we beat SDSU and Rutgers with him starting over Cozart). I'll always wonder what he could've done with if Weis had put his ego aside and played the guy.
2. Jordan Webb, Weis ran him outta town upon his arrival even tho Webb is tied with Cozart for most wins of the group at 4 in about half as many starts and started in KUs last upset of a ranked foe. He also has the best completion percentage at 65% of the group (Why did we hire Weis?).
3. Quinn Mecham, Threw a decent ball, just wasn't very athletic. I'm sure we all remember the huge comeback he was a part of vs Colorado and actually holds a KU record for most consecutive completions.
4. Carter Stanley, Looks to be a gamer and showed flashes of being a solid QB. Has a win in just a few starts which says a lot for him.
5. Jake Heaps, The first of the Weis boys to make the list. I liked Jake, he is the 3rd on the list with 2 wins but just never could play consistently enough for my liking.
6. Ryan Willis, the highest of the 3 guys to start without a win. I like Ryan and think he has a chance to be a good player at VT. Once he speeds up his release and cuts down on the TOs. He should've had a win last year if 1 of 4 missed FGs connect or Quv makes a wide open TD grab.
7. Montel Cozart, I know you're wondering how a guy tied with the most wins at 4 is rated in the back 40%. Half of his wins are against FCS comp and one of the other 2 wins was with 12 pass attempts thanks to James Sims 200+ rushing yards in a day were most guys could've handed him the ball all day. He also has far and away the most starts. His career was summed up to me in 2013 after the WVU win in the first half vs ISU the next week, ducking outta bounds a yard from a first to avoid getting hit bye a DB smaller than him. Never liked his game, if you take away the first half of the SEMO game and last years first half vs URI game his stats are far and away the worst on this list but he does have the 4 wins but only one total good game in 4 years.
8. Dayne Crist, The first of the failed Weis saviors at QB. Threw a pretty ball but was in fear of his life for most of his KU career. He did salvage a win in his first start.
9. Kale Pick, Really only played a single half a starting QB in a loss to NDSU that saw Webb take over at half and not really do anything better. He threw a INT in the endzone from inside the 10 late in that half. I'll always wonder how his career may have been different had he connect for the TD and likely won us the game. Would we have beaten GT the next week with him under center? Was Webb really better? We'll never know 100%.
10. Deondre Ford, Was a walkon the pretty much was thrown in to action after Cozart was injured in 2015. Came from Dodge City CC. Started a single game vs Rutgers where if the offense had showed up at all we'd won in maybe one of the worst KU FB games I've ever seen baring the NDSU joke.

Just some fun stuff to talk about, I honestly think if Webb was given a chance in 2012 and Cummings in 2014 without the injury in 2015 we'd have atleast 4 more wins than the 14 we have had since Ressing left.

@drgnslayr I have a friend that is a couple of years older than me that was getting D1 looks back in his playing days. He says a lot goes on behind closed doors, escorts, cars and money. He ended up going to a junior college because he didn't have the grades and said they gave him a car to come but it was basically done bye a booster's friends friend type deal with no paper trail. I think Self stays within the rules most of the time but you know some of these guys getting paid. Its like the movie blue chips, if you ain't paying these days you ain't getting the top guys.

In case you didn't know... • May 24, 2017 02:22 AM

@jaybate-1.0 Joel was the Davis and Doke only rated #30 (Joel was #25, went #3 hurt in the draft easily #1 if healthy) could be next year. We just had some bad injury luck but UK doesn't win the NC without Davis. I personally think that guys like Davis and Joel are seldom seen. This 10 OAD, five star talent pool you speak of at UK has one but 1 NC. Look at UNC, Nova and Dukes title teams, plenty of experience on those clubs and not every guy was a 5 star.

In case you didn't know... • May 24, 2017 01:33 AM

@jaybate-1.0 Think of how that percentage would look with a healthy Doke this season, healthy Joel in 2014 and Ellis in 2015 with Cliff not having his issues? We may have a NC in there too. I disagree about the 5, we have never had trouble getting bigs whether its the 4 or 5 IMO, had guys not healthy at the most important time of year tho, but Self has had numerous top 20 guys pretty much year after at those spots. Now the PG deal is true in a way but BIFM was as good as any in the country the last 2 years, Collins was good from the get go and TT was pretty damn as a upper classman as was RussRob. Tharpe was a let down but outside of him and EJ not playing his natural position we have had good guys at those spots. The number next to the player doesn't always mean a ton.

Ok simple • May 24, 2017 01:03 AM

I think he goes as well, kinda split on whether its the right decision or not. I understand Wayne leaving because he wasn't gonna improve. Svi on the other hand i think could improve his slashing, defense and be more consistent shooting. Most media outlets think this is the best draft class in several years and I agree. To the people saying he can't improve, he is listed on draft express as #28 pick in the 2018 draft and not listed in 2017 draft. All of us know bye now that a first rounder is guaranteed a contract, unlike a second rounder. I also have no idea what his families financial situation is and if it would play a factor. Good Luck to Svi in whatever choice he makes and lets not hate or insult him for his decision.
