@dylans So Joel Embiid has no interest for you?

This new recruiting world is unsustainable
Seems perfectly sustainable to me. All the schools have access to hundreds more players than they realistically could have gotten in contact with under the prior system. But the schools like ours who used to keep talent on the second string who could start elsewhere will have to adjust their expectations. There will still be thousands of kids leaving college every year, and thousands entering.
I think it might well expose which coaches can develop medium players and can be flexible enough to adapt their systems to their players.
@coolfool13 Our town criers just told us but didn't put any links here. Try googling "udeh" and you'll find it right away.

I have a hard time getting as upset about all this as you are, but I still nominate this sentence for PHOF!
I wonder if either would stay if HD only had 1 year of eligibility.
The part of the article thst concerns me is if it is true that the entire project has not included any discussion with the neighborhood. Perhaps some dialog can be stimulated to avoid or minimize potential disruption issues. I have lived in an area that underwent substantial redevelopment. The spillover of equipment-caused damage to neighboring properties, traffic diverted without warning, and mountains of trash, were always minimized in their predictions but not addressed at all once groundbreaking occured.
@approxinfinity Who you talking to?
Neil Diamond can help:

There in your mind.
Shilo, when I was young
I used to call your name.
When no one else would come
Shilo, you always came.
And we'd play....
@HoraceZontal I was amazed at how excited the crowd got, as well as the announcers going full Rock Chalk mode on the replay!
I think everybody assumes that the word is a slur, but to me the issue isn't the fact that it was directed at the Xavier kids or Catholics. It is the fact that to call someone that is intended to insult them for what the word represents, homosexuality--as if that
itself is the awful thing.
When I was a kid in JHS my curly hair was frizzy and generated a number of racial comments. People tried to insult me by asking if my dad was Black (not the word some of them used). I thought it was just stupid that they assumed I would agree it would be a bad thing. When I asked them what would be wrong with it, it just shut them up because they couldn't articulate their bias, and couldn't fathom me not sharing it.
I would like Huggins to face a panel of gay Catholics who could ask him, "Why would you think calling someone gay is an insult?"
It isn't the word--ever. It is the intent. Using the word to direct an insult proves the intent. It cannot be undone, but I do think his apology addresses what he did, AND perhaps more importantly, tries to educate others that it was wrong and unjustified.
@RockkChalkk You really cannot be serious in arguing that homophobic is limited to the psychological definition of one of its root words.
Just to update you, homophobic has its own definition that seems appropriate here:
Radio host sorta looks even dumber (if possible) since Huggy's apology admitted it was the very bad word, not a weather reference.

Well, as @wissox can tell you, Hunter has shown he is good at getting a leg up on an opponent.

Doke never averaged more than 13.7 ppg.
I am sure most KU fans' memories have built that higher in their minds!
Technically, lost a dick and got a son of a dick.
@wissox Actually played 5 years, showing even more how amazing Pete's record is!
@TYOHawk Another allegation about Morris is that his family and friends pressured the ex-gf to not say anything bad about him b/c it might hurt his career.
Morris has not to my knowledge ever acknowledged he did anything.
No one wanted to trade with the Chiefs. Guess they are tired of making Veach look like he fleeced 'em. "Conspiracy!"
What difference does it make now that payments to obtain players are: a) much higher, b) known rather than just suspected, and c) made by many schools rather than the elites?
Is the quality of basketball lower if NIL helps bring in veterans?
Does a player who doesn't have to scrape by corrupt his program?
Much pearl clutching, but I don't see the problem about knowing players are finally able to get paid for their work.
Old Billy is obviously as fucking stupid as his mom.
@dylans JCL was pretty cool last year at 25. Grown ass man who acc to some reports was very helpful in educating the young 'uns about lots of things including his software for athlete's finances or something like that.
@wissox No Valentine love??? Retired jersey, 3-time Academic AA, 2d team AA and on some AA lists, all around great guy. A few years before your time...so was Jo Jo.
6th in assists, 7th in scoring, first in steals...
@approxinfinity That was Curry, open at the very end, and uncharacteristically rushed his shot off one foot. Wiggs missed with 10 secs. Did great for 1st game back.
You guys can't have it both ways. Lunardi was pushing us for #1 overall seed even after we lost our final game and the B12 tourney final. That hardly seems as anti-KU as y'all are always complaining ESPN is!

@wissox I think we had a Red Baron one night when we were in Florida for Thanksgiving. Total vacation move!
We get Red Baron quite often because it is under $5...edible if not great...thin crust for us reduced-starch types...AND we are lazy!
Where am I gonna get those great gummy deals?
Great job!
We had 11 here for spiral ham and some chicken breasts cut into strips (we had a non-eater of pork). Made my own lemon pepper marinade because apparently KC Masterpiece doesn't make it anymore. Oil, lemon zest & juice, pepper, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, vinegar, and maybe something else. Need some xanthan gum, and maybe something to sweeten it a little for next time. Pot luck providers brought coconut cake, Easter breads, beans, potatao salad, etc. Easter feast and The Masters. Good day had by all! Hope you all celehrated nicely, too!
@BigBad There should be a lot more lines:
Coached by inventor of the game.
Number of consensus All Americans.
Consecutive sell-outs.
Number of head coaches, and their win totals, who either attended or assisted coaching there.
And, most importantly, enrolled Wilt Chamberlain.
@dylans Yes, Maui is where one son and family live, in Kihei which fronts the whale conservation area. Take lots of days down to the beaches south of the resorts. Saw over 100 whale spouts and breaches one day from the beach. But Marine Gunny SGT other son has now moved back to Oahu for his final tour. Living with his new flame and her 2 kids. So next time we go we will island hop again (prob Christmas '24).
@bskeet I think we remember someone who won a title differently from the jerseys who didn't...We appreciate all the other guys as excellent players, but the names with a title evoke memories of teammates, celebrations, trophies...
@dylans Never saw that one...so how do I forget it now? π₯΄
@dylans Did he ever get out? I keep seeing ghost images on the screen whenever an old tube TV gets turned off... poor schmuck. Wouldn't have been so bad back when TV shows were better, and he could have hung out on Western sets with Jimmy Garner or Clint.
Imagine being stuck in an endless cycle of MTV.
@BShark So we are pretty much at our statistical share.
With the 11 Women's NCAA D1 titles, UConn is the overall most successful college program ever.
Royalty, not a blue blood.
Well, there is good news finally. After going broke ordering all those gummies, today I was able to apply for a half-dozen fast loans!
Only one was a payday loan, but since I am retired I don't have to pay it, right?
Q: How many gummies can you eat before you float away? (assuming full strength) Does the weight gain offset the high?
@approxinfinity Just what I want, a portal to an AI trying to take over Skynet....
@FarmerJayhawk So Iowa's best player got taken out of their game by the refs after they benefitted by calls against SC's Boston? Always unfair when it isn't in your favor!
KU men have only been to the NIT twice. '68 reached the title game, lost to Dayton. '69 lost in the first round. 3-2 record.
I was surprised KU never went back in the days when the NIT was more prestigious and even considered a better tourney than the early NCAA fest. But since P. Allen was one of the luminaries pushing for the NCAA, it wouldn't have made sense to accept a bid to the competitor.
In any event, KU women have won something the men didnβt. I say banner up!
@wissox said in NCAA NON- KU GAMES:
@dylans Old fogies like us do!
If it weren't for old fogies, Tom Selleck would have had to retire long ago.
New blood, not blue blood.
Blue blood involves heritage, legacy including many renowned players and coaches, and decades of sustained excellence.
Kind of the difference between old money and nouveau riche. The concept of blue blood originated with the notion that aristocrats and royals had blue blood.
UConn is a member of of the new bb aristocracy, but not a blue blood. Anyone watch the streamed show "The Gilded Age"?

Ah, so you started at the Capitol.
Does WNIT get a banner?
So many underdogs would win in the tourney if they would play smart. FAU gave this one away. Shooting with 4 secs left on the shot clock, leaving 7-8 secs left for SDSU even if they had made it, was just their final mistake. Barkley (Round Mound of Rebound) totally disgusted by FAU giving up offensive FT rebounds.
@cragarhawk Did you see anything after that, he asks smiling naively?
@jayballer67 said in Oh jeez. Sorry to anyone trying login this AM:

You may have given the industry a new idea. People smuggled baggies of pot in there for decades, but CBD suppositories is something else. Run to your nearest Patent Orifice...oops, Office.
I wonder if anyone actually responds to that crap?
