@wissox The articles I have read said the Boston and Brooklyn fans have been voting to keep Joel from winning. Only 3 front court players get 1st team.
@wissox said in Is this a "stretch?":
we beat purdue
It always hurts just a little bit when you say "we" about the Badgers. I can't do a dual loyalty like you seem to--Michigan always stayed a "they" even though I was there for 3 years!
@wissox The optics were indeed bad. But no one heard the whistle and the head ref screwed everything up by calling it a do over instead of saying the play had been blown dead before it began. The guy who actually blew the whistle was near the side in the defensive secondary, I think, so no one saw him (maybe including the other officials) or knew what had happened.
Crowd noise disrupted everyone, but it didn’t really matter since the Chiefs didn’t score anyway.
As for the Bengals being deflated, apparently successful plays turn out to be replayed all the time due to penalties. I have seen claims it messed them up horribly. I'd have thought they learned how to handle confused officials back in Pee Wee fb.

whoa, chiefs given a free play to sustain the drive. Cincy has right to be livid.
I have read this lots of places, and I don't get the whining. It wasn't a free play. The prior play did not happen. If the Chiefs had scored, it wouldn't have counted. No different than any other official time out except the players wasted energy. Just like an interception after a false start doesn’t "gift" the offense anything.

@mayjay think we'll be moving down? Several teams lost though? Bama, ksu, and ?
Not far, maybe 10th.
It is a crazy exercise to figure out whether the transitive property should apply to rankings. We lose to TCU, which stomped Oklahoma but lost to Miss St, whereas we beat Oklahoma but lost to KSU who beat UF but then KSU lost to ISU whom we beat. Does UK count as a good win because their record does not accurately reflect their talent?
Just have a drink and worry not!
@Crimsonorblue22 You mean post-game? Or did Cal whine even before a game? Kinda early even for him!
Beating UK at Rupp will for a long time likely be an upset for any team, even ranked, going in after losing 3 in a row and facing UK, even unranked, after winning 4 in a row.
Besides, our #9 ranking did not account for last Monday. Probably would have been about 14th-16th if poll was Tues.
@wissox So we should cut the cheese?
@wissox Just remember, no ads for cheese will be allowed on your uniform.
@wissox I have a few Sacagawea dollar coins I can give you but only after the F4 if you guys get us there. This NIL stuff not based on actual performance is nonsense!
What I would do is explore the offer @wissox has made many times over the years to join the team. Assuming that year of eligibility extends to his 40's, or is it 50's? And that means the tweet by octogenarian Mitch was relevant.
@rockchalkjayhawk And next week we may wish we will face the Chargers.
@benshawks08 But no one has had to use it since November!
@StLJhawk Ah, another false alarm. Just indigestion.
@wissox We picked up 5 in the tourney to go ahead by 4, I believe, and have 4 more this year.
@rockchalkjayhawk They say that thinking you aren't crazy is one of the first symptoms....
@rockchalkjayhawk We saw the crooked uprights on the first field goal at that end.

Somehow the people who hate us still think the refs rig it in our favor. (Same with Chiefs)
@wissox Me, too--although I do repeat to myself a couple times a day, "Remember, you are only here temporarily so don't despair." 16 years of temporary so far, but looking forward to the release from HellOnEarth when I pass!
@wissox I reside in SC but heaven forbid that I would be "from" this land of traitors and failed historians.
Where is the State of Chicago? 🌎
@drgnslayr The comments about politics on the UK board were certainly interesting. The site from the outside looks like a perfect snapshot of how in our current culture angry people find ways to attack each other about everything, and always assign the blame to the other side's political persuasion.
@Crimsonorblue22 Probably not her choice. Beard brought in the guy who had been his strength coach at TT for 5 years.
@Gorilla72 My school! We could have added all our OL together and soaked them, and they would have totaled about 212 lbs.
@Crimsonorblue22 And they lost...hee hee hee!

Missouri is Power 5? 🤮
So...like the old aphorism teaches, beware of a Chief's fan in wolf's clothing.
@nuleafjhawk Just responding to you finding my comment laughable, and your saying it wouldn't matter what numbers we looked at. Not personal, just trying to figure out why KU fans act like KSU bb fans when attacking their fb program. Those of you getting harrassed by the Silo Techers certainly have more reason to dislike them. I was just try to separate the idiot fans from the school's accomplishments.*
I don't even like K State, but as Crimson pointed out, I don't have to live with 'em. I just hate Alabama more than any fb program...except maybe S Cal.
*Note: Before he died in 1978, my father led a research study for the Midwest Research Institute in KC that relocated The American Institute of Baking from Chicago to Manhattan because K St has a highly acclaimed research record in all things grain related. He interviewed all the top executives of every major baking company in the country and discovered how much they used and worked with KSU. A big reason for a soft spot still in my heart--he hated KSU with a passion in sports but was able to see beyond that!
@nuleafjhawk Self-delusion is so cool to observe in action! Since 1969, KSU is 33-20-1 against us, with a 14 game winning streak in progress.
I guess all those games we won before the Apollo landing half a century ago should make K Staters feel inferior in fb, not just bb.
Yes, "superiority" is the correct word. I don't like it, but I would not like being incapable of respecting a rival's accomplishment.
If a football conference championship means nothing, I guess our bb streak of trophies deserves scorn, too?

He’s still catching the ball, then thinking, then making a decision.
In football, that would be the punt returner who freezes and gets only 1/2 yard despite not getting hit until a full 2 seconds after catching the ball.

@mayjay You tagged the wrong person here.
Correct you are! Edited yet again. Sorry!!
@Texas-Hawk-10 Maybe your sentence beginning "There wasn’t a great reason to not give Rice some extended minutes..." needs "that we know of" added to it. I know you know that Bill does a lot of decision making based on his perception of how well people have earned PT. Maybe some lack of effort in practice?
I have not been impressed by MJ in the limited amount I have seen. He hasn't struck me as motivated, but that could be his injury.*
*edited from "energy." Damned speech recognition.
@nwhawkfan said in KU vs. The Indiana Hoosiers Saturday 11AM This is a BIG GAME!!!:
@wissox Instead of a postgame interview, we get a breakdown of what's wrong with Indiana and almost nothing about us. Sheesh...
The whole game was Vitale and company praising what was good about us!
@jayballer67 @Jethro
To be fair, we tore the goalposts down for becoming bowl eligible, so do we have room to talk about their tour? I love our KU pride in basketball, but I cannot get any pleasure deriding KSU's superiority in football. If we had beaten them...well, that is a different story!
I will cheer for KSU today, but I would cheer anyone, even Fizzou, playing Alabama. I hate them even more than I hated Ohio St under Woody "Whack-a-Player" Hayes. It is an enmity with no real source, too!
Everyone chill please!
@drgnslayr said in And do you all think the Tigs want to keep this rivalry alive?:
Doubtful...
If they could read they probably would be reading their phones, and looking for texts from their meth dealers.
@Gorilla72 I am just speculating here, but it looks like the prayers put up by Emmaus had a lower success rate.
@RockChalkinTexas That was my freshman year. I always liked how Clint played, and if he was privileged enough to go out with you he must have been an okay guy!
@FarmerJayhawk Are those valuation numbers the actual amount they are getting, or the perceived maximum they could get?
@justanotherfan You are certainly correct about expectations, but for the players on 'bama who play, they could well be highly motivated to demonstrate their skills. Especially the second string guys who will get a lot more PT if a platoon of draft-elible starters bag it.
@Zabudda Feels to me like running into an old lover I had mostly forgotten, and then remembering all the shitty things that she did.
The Chiefs have played 11 games (edit: oops, 12 games, lost one somewhere), and by my count on their first possessions to start those games they have run the ball 9 times and passed 2 times. No play has gained more than 9 yds, and 6 of the runs averaged only 3+ yds. I think their first half posessions this season probably have a lower ratio, but still weigh heavily in favor of runs. Only in the 2nd half does Andy seem to allow a throw on a drive's first play.
I would love to see the best QB open a game by throwing 15 to 20 yds. For the Chiefs, passing opens the run game, not the reverse. We are stifling our big play capability by being so predictable!
If only the Chiefs could purchase some tackling instructional tapes, we might get somewhere. That, and gagging our players who talk and don't do the walk (looking at you, Justin Reid).
@Jethro Eggs... counting... chickens... hatching..
@Texas-Hawk-10 I would buy that explanation if the shooters were breaking the other way. They have just been stanfing there until the ball clanks. Often they get tovthe other end after the ball. Thus...grrrrr.
The next time I watch one of our 3 pt shots come up short while the shooter stays outside the arc, I am probably going to hurt myself hitting the tv.
The only person who has direct knowledge of a shot's likely distance is the shooter. Follow your short shot, get the rebound.

Referees have ruined enough days of my life that I could have enjoyed one half of a year more than I've enjoyed already.
Any time they have spoiled in my life is more than compensated by Denkinger's call in Game 6 in 1985.
I think there might be some limitations on in-season coaching by non-coaches.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Simultaneous post with yours 2 mins ago. But my Buckets app says we posted an hour ago!
@wissox When Nike and Ticketmaster merge, we'll talk. Meanwhile, no issue. Lots of tourneys for bb teams.
I am going to guess we don't extend the DC or double his salary....
For a while, it seemed like our bb team had snuck in. But then we scored, so I knew that wasn't right.
