God save us from alternating caps...
I have no issue with Weber's role in the brawl. That picture shows him straining hard trying to hold that hidden guy back. As I described before, he ushered that guy and Love out that exit immediately after Love ducked away from the fight. By doing that quickly, Weber might have actually helped prevent fans from trying to retaliate or provoke Love if they saw him leaving.
Now, everyone knows I cannot abide Squeaky, but I can't fault him for not diving deeply into the scrum--enough people were doing that.
I hate internet acronyms and never use them. But for this...SMH.
Excellent article by Bilas!
Three, two, one...waiting for a particular head to explode....
Martin's act is getting a lot of negative kickback here in Gamecock land. People expecting him to blow a gasket soon. Looks a little like a cartoon steampot sometimes just before BLEWEEEEEE!
My god, the Star's editorials are not as well written as the ones I used to read in the UDK!
@Crimsonorblue22 "I got a hard elbow to the face, no call and my sister went after the gal. I caught her first..... I don’t care if you pile on me."
Heck, no, I ain't pilin' on! Don't want to p--- off your sister!
@dylans "If that’s allowed we should have a new football player walk-on destroy a guy every game."
Been tried, but by Coach Woody Hayes instead of by a player.
Something just occurred to me: did anyone notice how many long distance shot attempts SDS missed in the brawl? Obviously he's not the answer to the search for a 4 with range.
@BShark I am surprised no one was hurt. Someone in a suit got tossed down like a rag doll wandering into the middle of pro wrestling practice.
@HighEliteMajor Again with extremes. There are many levels of reaction between "that is reasonable" and "I am outraged!"
Being upset without being mad is one possibility. I am upset, but not so much it ruins my day. I save outrage for things that are far more threatening to life, limb, loved ones, and safety.
So, KU scandals in the past 15 years...
Ticketgate, Sneakergate, and now Stoolgate.
In thinking about this, what I am most amazed about is that SDS seemed to have handled first the initial eligibility determination delay (when he first came out) and then the whole NCAA suspension (and more delay) with more patience and grace than anyone could have ever expected.
Well, I can sure see how it isn't caused by fracking. Kind of how air pollution is not caused by internal combustion engines--it is caused instead by the interaction of certain gasses and particulates with other gasses, water and matter in the atmosphere.
@Crimsonorblue22 Now, now...Remember, Traylor should not have been on our team and Self should never have played him, etc etc etc. Did you forget there was a (self-proclaimed) "winner" of that argument? It was Self's decision to play JT, so it was Self's fault he was in Manhattan to get slammed by the KSU turd.

Unfortunately, it seems so many in our world of sport seem to think that is part of the game: do what we can to belittle the other person/team, don't take any crap from him/them, etc. As coaches, we need to teach our athletes how to learn to walk away and let the opponent figure out how to deal with it.
Agreed! Or even try to injure other players. Look at the flack Tyrann Mathieu got for not decking Watson at the end of what was then a blowout.
@benshawks08 I learned a long time ago. Very simple. Rule # 1: Run. Rule #2: If running doesn't work, make a joke. Rule #3: If joke doesn't work, see Rule #1.
Tonight's game has been sponsored by The Committee for Preservation of Basketball Rivalries. Any lack of competitiveness resulting in an overwhelming disinterest by normal sports fans has hopefully been replaced, as needed, by an entertaining production of nitwits striving to bash each others' heads. ESPN+ be damned. We want KU-KSU games to stay on the main network for years!
@wrwlumpy Might REALLY need new pics after tonite.
Anyone think we can offer to throw SDS back into the ineligible pool in a trade for more lenient treatment in the NOA?
@kjayhawks ESPN article said Webber told his guys to back off and walked to shake hands when the steal happened. He said it was his and his guys' fault. Said you need to lose with class and win with class.
Hee hee hee! My knee jerked!
@jayballer73 I know, I edited it to show I meant to contrast what Squeaky did, not answer the Ellis q which was about our coaches.
I think Squeaks got Love out so he could avoid arrest.
@jayballer73 Did you see Webber in the entrance to the tunnel at lower right manhandling one KSU guy out, and then pushing that guy and Love (who scurried like a scared rabbit from the fight he flew into) out of sight?
@Texas-Hawk-10 I want to go on record here to admit I was wrong after Monmouth. I said the real embarrassment was our inattention in dribbling out the clock. I said that the only guaranteed outcome was that HCBS would make sure it never would happen again. Sigh...
@bskeet Big boys should be able to handle someone making a dick move. I thought Silvio did great by blocking it.
He should have gone to check if the guy was okay, smiled, and helped him up.
Angry about it after demolishing the guy with the block? That's a head case problem right there.
If you cannot successfully dribble out 3 seconds when only 2 guys are anywhere near you, ay yi yi.
Why is there a need for saltwater disposal in Kansas? Seriously, since I don't get the news from there. What is up with that? Who is disposing of it, and where?
Brady was suspended for a full semester.
Biracial blame in the NBA IMHO. But it is not new by any means. Bill Laimbeer comes to mind.
@benshawks08 Fascinating to look at fan reactions. Poor woman at the bottom scared to death while the frat boys (guessing here) up top can't get enough. "Cool! Rumble!"
Chandler Lawson also has not attempted a 3 in 19 games. Obviously he would not have been the outside-range solution to our 4 problem!
Fracking?
@dylans Verizon 4G working for me after turning wifi off.
I thought there might be a setting hisden somewhere that prohibits loading when not on wifi like some apps have to avoid expensive data charges for streaming. But I don't see one. This problem some people are having is for younger minds to solve. It is is way beyond my ken. (That's how some of us old folks talk, and it is not about a boy doll.)
Well, you can now get an Impossible Burger. But if you were preparing for our last SB back in Jan 1970 (before all the health crap came around), you couldn't find anything tastier than this:
@Kcmatt7 Okay, but if our favorite Chiefs player defects to Cuba someday, don't blame me if kids start asking your son about la Revolución!
@Kcmatt7 Make it Patrick just to keep your son's future safe....
My dad and I watched SB I and IV together (I was 10 and 13 on those), but the only game I remember really well was the infamous Christmas Day game a couple years later when Stenerud broke my Dad's heart. The Chiefs were no good for the rest of the 70's and he passed away in 1978.
I started crying today! I was watching all those fans going nuts, thinking, "That's my city! This one's for Dad."
Can we sign Clowney early?
Any word in the local news about Jones?
@BShark Going back to the days of Nate Archibald with the Kings, and through Valentine up to Hinrich all the way to Mason and Graham, I have loved watching beautiful passing.
Those passers passed in the rhythm of their movements, often seemingly knowing who they were passing to before they started driving or changing direction. Our current players either stop and look for someone to pass to, or drive directly into traffic and then try desperate passes to someone not in a strategically better position.
They just seem awkward in the passing game, at least against good m2m defenders.
[Pregnant pause....]
@kjayhawks "Hopefully he checks himself somewhere to get some help."
Seems entirely possible he will have that opportunity, but not likely he will be checking himself in. ☹
Yeah, I might have been wrong about UNC...
Chiefs outscored M St.
Purdue, unranked, beat #8 Mich St 71-42.
Shit especially seems to happen this year!

I'm at the give up stage. Even after the score. Sorry.
Finding something better to do?
I'm exhausted.
Houston was up to @ 93% chance of winning acc to ESPN. Now KC 72%.
Crazy game.

So anyone put money on San Fran winning it all, early this year?
Tennessee seems the best bet to me if KC doesn't win today.
kjayhawks said:
If they can hold them to 3 here and wake up. If they can go into the half down 24-14, they have a shot.
Maybe even better. 8 mins left and at your target.
Pass to doubled Hill--Pat's revenge?
