@Kcmatt7 "...point out itβs flaws compared to the RPI. Is it better or worse?"
Specifically, it's just backasswards stupid. The RPI is only stupid. π₯
@BeddieKU23 10 years ago coaches could be total jerks and not release kids, greatly hampering transfers. With social media giving kids instant access to such info, I think coaches have eased up to avoid bad recruiting reps.
@KirkIsMyHinrich I thank them because in their minds they delusionally think they are doing it for themselves. For 14 years, other teams actually pay tribute to us by knocking each other off.
@Gorilla72 That was in Lubbock.
Thank you, Iowa State.
I remember Sonny Parker playing for Texas A & M. Two years, 74-75 and 75-76, POY in SW Conf both years. I would have sworn I saw him at AFH, but we didn't play them.
I didn't realize he was Jabari Parker's father.
All the disparagement and snideness toward Shaka tells me that the E8 game still means more to this board than the dominance KU has in the B12. So we get all snarky because no VCU fans are here to say, "Yeah, but....elite 8."

That was a helluva game.
Fun game suggestion: Let's all count how many posters on this thread today seem determined to outdo each other going off the deep end before anything definitive has occurred.
Get a grip, people. Wait for facts, and please don't think your opinions or suspicions are facts no matter how strongly held.
Bitching at each other for voicing differing speculations is a sign of misdirected anger. Is there some sort of race here, or a betting pool, that motivates some posters to insist on the finality and absolute accuracy of their viewpoints?
Wow.
@bmensch1 Langford, still pouring them in!
@approxinfinity Cole up and jam 'em tight!

@Bwag @approxinfinity if he's running point and brings the ball down, is that touch 1?
I think it is much worse than 'prox says. I am convinced Charlie thinks about stopping to shoot between every dribble, no matter where he is on the court--even after getting a defensive rebound. Heck, he probably think he should shoot when he catches an out of bounds ball while sitting on the bench.

DVR both. Start watching KU 25 mins in, skipping ads. Switch at timeouts, doing the same for the Chiefs game. Makes watching soooooo much more tolerable!
@Kcmatt7 The flaw in your reasoning is that by now Bill Self is pretty much immune from firing for anything less than an on-court assault or a major cheating scandal. By the time several poor years racked up, he will be retiring anyway. So, if a major cheating scandal is one thing that would get him gone, it seems unlikely he would knowingly participate in one. This is what the logic side of my brain tells me--the risk to his rep is not worth the incremental advantage of recruiting a few less elites. He can do well with 4 stars.
The cynical side of my brain keeps asking, however, whether he would benefit from cheating he didn't do himself, or fail eagerly to turn over some smelly rocks...
@Crimsonorblue22 I'm having my annual winter cold. Head is really foggy. So typing is a chore, spelling is a nightmare, and initials are my cheat!
@Crimsonorblue22 Ooops! Fixed. Thx!
@HighEliteMajor He probably wanted to give Ochai a chance to play with the guys before trying to put more of a role on Dave. I am firmly confident that the reduced minutes for DM had nothing to do with pushing him even further out of the rotation. With everyone getting used to OA, it would have been a huge adjustment to add a novice big guy in the mix. ML will not shine, but he can be reliably counted on to set screens and help OA with advice on the court.
@kjayhawks A medical redshirt should be a possibility if KU plays at least 30 games. Criteria include played in no more than 30% of a team's games, and must have been injured with a season-ending injury in the first half of the season. He played in only 9. We have played 14, with 17 left, so we will have 31. At least. Unless something really really REALLY bad happens.
@HighEliteMajor One thing not mentioned about that RS 4th year (apologies if I missed it): That is where the crop of grad transfers come from. I think coaches will RS fewer and fewer players, or, if they have some, they will more quickly cash them in to fill a gap as Self is doing.
@BeddieKU23 On the other hand, someone who can actually appear in games is infinitely better than even a reincarnated Chamberlain stuck on the bench. We have been waiting for Sir Silvio to ride in on his white charger, and while his armor, or more accurately, perhaps, his Under Armour, continues to be examined back at the barn, maybe help is riding in from another direction!
@BeddieKU23 So, 2011-2012 was a F4 year, and the next season we had the 2 loss sequence. Let us hope we don't establish a pattern tomorrow.
@HighEliteMajor Optimism is good! So, to set a good example, perhaps we could change that one negative sounding word in your 3rd paragraph so it reads "unless we lose in the tournament," yes?
@kjayhawks You have hit on a great truth! I think the guys passing the ball got complacent passing the ball to Doke, whose hands are probably twice as strong and 50% bigger than anyones. Errant passes to Doke in the post still got gobbled up. Errant passes to Mitch, Dedrick, and Dave get poked at and turned over.
I would love to see how Self backtracked face to face with Doke from his initial snotty statement indicating he didn't give much respect to Doke's reported injury.
Waiting for a few people on here who threw shade at him to fess up, too. Wrist ligament injuries hurt. Mine still hurts 46 years later.

@BeddieKU23 By the way, they didn't miss shoot around, I watched it!
Hopefully, that was more fun.
@Crimsonorblue22 He probably is eating up what the coaches can teach him, too. I suspect they will finish this in time to rule him eligible for next year, and if there is a repayment plan, he will have all next year to do it. I think he would come back and get the benefit of competition before going pro, but I am no doubt in a small minority.
He is still on scholarship, right?
@wrwlumpy "Iowa Williams" just wouldn't have had the same panache.
@Crimsonorblue22 The school can arrange them directly with the student. The NCAA knows the kids don't have the cash, but now they have some stipend money. Verification is pretty strict, and if the student defaults, the school can't do it again with anyone for 4 years. Defaulting means paid off by the time set in the plan. Has to be completed by the end of the kid's eligibility. I don't know whether that changes based on theoretical 4 yr eligibility or if is required to be done within a single year.

@drgnslayr I have read that the NCAA allows loans to pay the "fines" for receiving impermissible benefits, but those were far less than 60 large. Also, I believe it is not usually repayments to the provider--often they have payments to a local charity or somerhing.
@Woodrow That's funny. I saw this article, and searched to find who asked about him earlier when I had posted a reply so I could update. Found this thread, and boom, there you are, already on top of it!
@truehawk93 "when your name is brought up in a GRAND JURY of requesting payment"
?????
Coincidentally, Larry has recently been made available yet again.
@dylans I didn't know you could freeze calves! How long do they keep? More seriously, "Mad Hatter," good luck with the poor little thing!
Bears coach is safe, but Buccaneers coach and Bills coach should start peering around corners.
Bad year for mascots beginning with "B".
@jayhawkcsg This summary came up on a google search. Note: you might have to sign into your google account to bring up the info if you don't stay signed in. I have had to get a new pw sometimes.

How to cancel ESPN+ | CordCutters.com
@jayhawkcsg Contact your credit card company and tell them you no longer authorize charges to ESPN. Explain your efforts to cancel. Make sure you document that call and all your efforts thru ESPN. You may need to locate your prior bill to ID the specific charge. If a new charge appears on your next bill, call them again and follow their instructions for filing a written dispute. (By the way, if there is a phone number on the line item for the past charge, call that number to cancel, too.)
AOL got into a lot of trouble years ago for making it really difficult to cancel accounts. The ESPN+ approach is bad.
@jayhawkcsg If you have trouble cancelling, go to the "All questions" part of the FAQs for Managing My Account. Method of cancelling depends on how you signed up. Also an 800 number in there. Deleting the app DOES NOT cancel.
@kjayhawks @Texas-Hawk-10 T
Perfectly willing to watch big event soccer like World Cup--but not interested in paying. As to Euro soccer I just cannot fathom American interest.
@Texas-Hawk-10 The next time I pay to watch soccer would be my first.... But it would be good for fans who watch that and other things you mentioned. Not moi, however!
@Crimsonorblue22 Remember, peacemakers usually just get caught in the crossfire. Good try, though!

Did it! Thanks for the reminder. Mine would have renewed on Jan 1.
@BShark Baylor wouldn't play for free, though.
All we have to do is finish the season in January undefeated. I guarantee that would mean we won the NC.
@Woodrow Been out for 3 games with a foot injury that is still being "evaluated", and expected to miss a couple more I believe.
Remember my post from the game thread the other night?

@approxinfinity Gotta keep up--it is now the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square.
@Crimsonorblue22 I was wondering more about whether his drives are affected by trying to keep away from contact with his head. Or if he winces anticipating contact.
