@dylans It was like that for me in speculating about Doke's wrist injury on his FT style, only to be reminded that it was his left wrist that got hurt.
That is why they invented "Oops!" I had fun teaching the 2 year old that word, and "Uh oh!"

ACL is a knee injury. Achilles is the tendon up from the heel. This might be more relevant to how Chalmers is doing?

I just want Kansas to win. I don't really care too much about conference perception.
I guess I want Kentucky to lose, too.
Missouri isn't participating this year, but I hope they lose to whichever SEC team they're playing.
Mizzou doesn't need to play. Still a loser any day of the week.
Cain signs with Brewers. 5 years, $80 million
@JayHawkFanToo Now playing somewhere overseas. Total contracts have been worth over $18 million, acc to that bio.
@jaybate-1-0 Wow, even more than I thought. You raise the Alford connection. JR after going to NM (from a bio of JR):
Giddens transferred to New Mexico and sat out the next season due to NCAA regulations. As a junior, he was suspended from the team in late February for disciplinary reasons and missed the team's summer trip to work on his academics. New Mexico hired head coach Steve Alford, who took a no-nonsense approach to discipline, and Giddens made a dramatic transformation. As a senior, he was named Mountain West Conference Co-Player of the Year and Honorable Mention All-American following career highs in points (16.3 per game) and rebounds (8.8 per game).
Following in the J R Giddens tradition!
A prayer! Well, that explains closing the eyes.
I thought #1 was the ability to make FTs in late-game situations.
Looks like I need to get out more....
Sure, he is 7 feet. And he makes FTs in practice, too. And if you just wish hard enough, Santa will bring you a car next Christmas.
@Gunman brothers and sisters...
Barkley's golf swing, however, is to Fred Couple's as Doke's FT form is to Rick Barry's.
@HighEliteMajor Well, shoot. Another great theory shot to hell! Thx for the correction (in Embarrassment font).
@HighEliteMajor Any chance his wrist injury has affected his ability to hold his arm, wrist and hand vertically? I injured my wrist ligaments literally 42 years ago, and even though I got 99% recovered, that 1% limits a few motions. The free throw motion happens to be one, but oddly, holding my elbow out makes it easier. Not as far as Dok, to do mine without pain is more of a 45 degree angle.
If so, Self would not want to reveal it to preserve Dok's pro prospects, or maybe Dok has never revealed it to the staff. And, perish the thought, other teams might foul on purpose knowing he could not make FTs.
Just speculating. It is just very weird to have pain from an injury that occurred after my freshman year. And his was a lot more recent.
Maybe Self let Doke find out what the consequences are of not accepting coaching. Only half way thru the conf season, so there is time for a major Dok attitude adjustment.
Lots of critics on this site have claimed Self wins the conference at the expense of March. I think we just witnessed Self risking the conference in order to prep Dok for March. "Scared straight."
@Texas-Hawk-10 Well, if we could actually outrebound somebody the "let him bomb away" strategy could conceivably work.
@dylans I like suspense-free games, too! Most of 'em anyway.
@JayHawkFanToo The mediocre comment is mystifying. Knocking each other off is the rule with top to bottom strength. Perhaps the only was to convince doubters like @Blown that the B12 is really strong would be if neither team would lose in a B12 game.
@BeddieKU23 Just turn your clock ahead and pretend. Works better the night before, though.
Or back. I forget which.

KU athletic department has just released this statement: Sheahon Zenger has resigned his position. Zenger went on to say he knows this will be a huge disappointment to KU alums and fans, but he has felt the deep desire to return where his college education all started, either Fort Hays State or MidAmerica Nazarene University.

So our game plan is keeping Trae in check as much as possible. OU's game plan is keeping DG, MN, SM, LV and UA in check as much as possible. I like our chances better!
ML GOES WILD!
I think he will play soon but the focus now is getting Silvio into the mix. Room to involve Sam later.
@HighEliteMajor Cannot see it either. Did you post the picture from the computer you can see it on? If so, it may only be looking locally on that PC for it, which might mean it never got uploaded. Go to that computer, hit Edit on that post, and see what the link is for the picture. Or you could just hit Edit on your work computer since it is your log-in, I guess.
@JayHawkFanToo Dok's variation in FT performance does to probability he will make it what that proverbial lake that averages 3 inches deep does to someone who thinks that means they cannot drown in it.
@dylans @HighEliteMajor That makes more sense, but Garrett shooting 48% on FTs after shooting 61.8% in 165 attempts in HS seems to suggest a degee of unpredictability for players in the center of the bell curve. You would expect he would get better in college. Perhaps only having half the chances per game, or less, exacerbates the variation because if a guy has a pattern of making more after getting comfortable, his misses get added weight.
@JayHawkFanToo Odds like those for coins do not transfer to human events. If they did, players' shooting percentages would not change (improve or get worse) over time. 50% for coin flips is predictive due to perfectly balance coin. 60% for a shooter is merely historical data, and has nothing to do with the likelihood of making the next shot.
In other words, it is due to the presumed inherent, immutable characteristics of the coin that the next flip will be 50% either way. A basketball shot's chance of going in depends on a huge number of other external variables--distance, defenders, etc.
@HighEliteMajor He said this weekend that he would be willing to try underhanded.
I don't want to see what he could do to any KSU students chanting "Granny!" like kids did when I was in intramurals way, way, way back when....
I will say that a video shot they showed last night of KU catching and beating WVU showed BP jumping up to bump the players coming back to the bench, cheering like a madman, and exultantly screaming for the victory at the end. That was only a week ago. So, I think we should still give him his due for still giving his buds his energy even if he was discouraged over his ultimate chances. He did not act like someone with a foot out the door.
@jaybate-1.0 Trae shot 40, the rest of the team 13.3, from 3 ptville.
Here is more info from Self from LDJ both on why the process took so long, and on knowing about the Bosnia offer:
Kansas coach Bill Self, who confirmed Preston's departure through a statement Saturday morning, said he had known about Preston's opportunity to join BC Igokea in Bosnia for three weeks. But it was not until a text message at 7:18 a.m. that Self knew it was a done deal.
“Of course (we're) disappointed,” said Self, officially classifying the matter as “an NCAA reinstatement matter” for the first time. “The disappointment comes from us not having a finality to it, (not) from (the NCAA) not making a decision. ... Just to be real clear, so fans don't think (certain) people are at fault; it took some time to get the information to them in a final package because if you get it to them and it's incomplete, it drags on longer and longer. Then there were follow-up deals, 'We have more questions, we have more things.' And we thought we were getting close, real close. But I think the team in Bosnia put pressure on (his mother) Nicole (Player) and Billy.
“We had been told (by the NCAA), 'Hey, we don't disagree with what you're saying, we're not saying we agree. But we are saying that we are not quite ready to make a final determination on it. I don't blame anybody, to be honest with you. I just hate it. I hate it for him because he didn't get to experience what college basketball's all about. Hopefully he'll go over there and kick butt and put himself in a position to be a higher draft pick because he went over there.”

Almost everything else named for a person uses the full name. People just assume it, I believe. @dylans has it right. What does Phog mean to most of the viewers?
@chriz I think he could guard it better if playing the 3. Right now he looks like Perry did for so long--he has trouble getting from inside to the arc as fast as his guy. But I think he is still better as a 4.
@Fightsongwriter DG gets there on the drive but doesn't protect the ball, or throws it up wildly. Three that didn't, or barely, hit the rim yesterday. Malik seems to get the shot off on his drives. Both are great at the FT line, thankfully.
@jaybate-1.0 I don't know if it is us or them, but Tuesday might give you a clue: on Saturday OU, excluding Trae, shot 13.3%. So, can we keep them there?
This is why I don't drink tea.
@BShark My mother, when stuck in her wheelchair, could have been better at shooting FTs than Dok.
@BShark Mich State
Unbelievable stat: 1 KU point on 10 offensive rebounds.
@Crimsonorblue22 Not as bad as the others, but he needs to be taking charge. Had a horrible inability to finish layups after the foul was committed, plus on 2 where he went under the basket w/o getting fouled he just threw it up blindly.
My quick thought is that everybody looked bad after we tried to play 3/2.
My second thought is that Svi must have been sick.
My third thought is that everyone else except Newman must have been sick, too.
You did acknowledge that Trae might be the best option OU has. Here are the shooting stats for the game. For comparison, Trae's overall % on 14 of 39 was 35.9%, he shot 40% from 3, and 100% from the line (12/12).
The rest of the team shot 2 of 15 from 3 (13.3%), and 3 of 5 from the line. They made the same # of fgs, 14, but took 5 more shots to do it, 32.5% on 14/43.
@Jayballer54 YOU are the one who said people think he is God. Did you forget that? I was being facetious.
@wissox Ah, the move north. Very kind of you to do that. Especially if watching sports is more difficult.
You could just take over completely and make them watch, the way we did with my mom!
@Jayballer54 Again, not only do we call him God but every single person who has ever thought or said anything good about Trae Young has gone on record as saying he has never made a dumb mistake.
You waste a lot of time attacking people for comments and opinions that do not exist except in your imagination.
@BeddieKU23 Actually, if there are red flags it would be better to know now before he enrolls and gets into a car wreck.....
Best OSU D of the whole game!
